Love. Love. LOVE!

A successful house flipper and YouTuber, Maggie is taking her next project to Kinship, Idaho. Tackling the severely neglected Old Campbell Place, Silas Wright, owner of Bitterroot Landscapes, is hired to help. And listen, I typically roll my eyes at insta-love ... but Silas and his goofy, exaggerated flirting instantly won me over.

But despite his magnetic charm, Maggie attempts to ignore it—after all, she is only there for a job, never staying in one place long. With Maggie constantly overworking herself, easygoing Silas was the perfect person to gently nudge her towards balance and true happiness. I loved their quiet, tension-filled moments together.

As the two settle in with renovations, the house not only brings an adventurous mystery to the story but also an amazing example of found family. And look at that adorable pup on the cover! Kevin the naughty, burly pit bull was truly a highlight.

This book had so much to offer to readers and it fully delivered! I loved the main storyline and seeing Maggie in her element with the house, shooting the show, and working with her crew members. Maggie was so wonderful and I loved the connections she built with people and how she really found herself during the project. I also really enjoyed all the secondary storylines in this book. At first, I was a bit worried it would be a lot to follow and that it would maybe be too much for the author to tie up at the end, but Lucy Score’s writing is pure magic! I was so satisfied with how each piece of this story came together and the overall ending was so special! I loved the found family theme throughout and getting to know these characters so well. My favorite characters were Maggie, Kevin (!!), and Cody, but they were all so great! Silas and his furry companion make quite the entrance in this one to start this novel off with a bang and continued to win over my heart (and Maggie’s) during this fun romance! Score’s descriptive writing helped me to imagine the house and surrounding areas in the town which really helped to engross me in this story! So much to rave about with this one, it’s definitely a top read for 2022!

Thank you @readforeverpub for a copy of Maggie Moves On. If you are a fan of home improvement shows, a little mystery and a little bit of fate - this book is for you.

I adored this book so much. I love Silas and his determination to win over Maggie and his positive attitude. I love how the house played such a big role not only in Maggie's renovations but also the impact on the town of Kinship. All the supporting characters was amazing and I love the added element of a lost treasure.

Maggie Moves On follows Maggie who has a very popular youtube channel where she flips houses. Her latest project is her most ambitious to date. Which is to fix up an old Victorian mansion in four months. Maggie hires Silas to help her with the project. There is just one problem every time Silas sees Maggie he flirts with her. Eventually the two start hitting it off and makes Maggie question some things. And as her project deadline comes closer Maggie has to choose if she wants to stay with Silas or if she is ready to once again start over.

I am a big rom com reader. But this was not my favorite that I have read. I just really was not feeling the romance between Maggie and Silas. To me the relationship just felt super forced. But I did not dislike this book. I just wish I liked the relationship between the characters more. I thought it was a very interesting plot and did keep me entertained. But this is not a romance book that I will want to go back to. I just thought it was another run of the mill romance book. I just think there are better romance books out there. So I do not think I would suggest this one.

Maggie has her reasons for not staying in one place and she’s found the perfect way to focus this life choice. Her almost one million YouTube subscribers follow where she goes, enthralled by her house flipping projects all around the country. This is her life: she loves it and she’s damn good at it.

But what happens when she revisits her past and bumps in to a cinnamon roll Chris Hemsworth clone landscape architect named Silas and his pit bull with personality, Kevin? He’s immediately (and honestly, believably) convinced she’s the one but she pushes back with everything she’s got - no putting down roots for Maggie!

But will a small town full of warmth, love and mystery with a personal connection to her past be the extra ingredient to tip her over?

Lucy Score’s reverse take on the Grumpy/Sunshine trope is right on the money in her first traditionally published book. Her talent in creating a cast of meaningful side characters and locales that wrap you up in a warm blanket of security and love positively shines through in this gem of a book.

This was a binge read for me and when I finished, I did an immediate reread to really appreciate the nuances in her story and to revisit the wonderful characters in it. It’s a book filled with so much joy and love and laughter as well as a fascinating mystery (or two) to be solved.

I received an advance copy of this book and this review is my own. My best indication of how much I loved it is that I have preordered it on Amazon and can’t wait to read it again!

Ahh just finished this and wanted to get my thoughts on paper, ASAP. I was so surprised by this book and I absolutely loved it. If you don’t know this about me, I hardly EVER read synopsis of books. I either get them based on the cover, or if the ladies in @atombookclub tell me I should (#arcenablers). So going into this, I expected a normal romance book about a girl who is maybe moving back a bad break up yadda yadda.

This was NOT it. Maggie is a badass woman who renovates homes for a living. And when I say renovate, I don’t mean design, I mean she’s tearing down walls, telling men to shove it and just overall being someone you don’t mess with. She’s quick to put people in their place, but starts to fight back less when it comes to the hot landscaper Silas.

Silas is super hot, confident and loves to go tit for tat with Maggie’s sass. He has no problem letting her lead, but also pushing back when he fully believes in something. I’ll admit I didn’t always love him because I didn’t like when he’d tell her what to do, but I do think his character overall is so sweet. He gives her space to be the stoar, and supports her throughout.

Their love was insta-love, but it was done really well. Sometimes insta-love makes me roll my eyes, but with this book, I just loved it. I think because Silas was persistent, he was funny and knew he had to work for it.

The other thing I really loved about this book were all of the side characters. Not going to lie, I got a little teary at the end reading where they all ended up and it just all made me so happy. There were a lot of subplots in this book and I was nervous about how it was all going to turn out, but in the everything was wrapped up with a pretty bow.

This was my first book by Lucy Score, but will definitely not be my last. Thank you @readforeverpub for a copy of this e-arc in exchange for my review. I absolutely loved it.

An absolute delight and such fun to read!

Maggie is always on the move. She travels around the country buying and renovating homes for her popular YouTube channel. She makes design choices with a buyer and a bottom line in mind. When she buys The Old Campbell Place, a home she and her mom once daydreamed about living in, she subconsciously starts to make it her own. Maybe it has something to do with the handsome owner of the landscaping company she hired to tackle the large acreage around the home. Fans of her YouTube channel dub him “Hot Landscaper Guy,” but Silas only has eyes for Maggie. And maybe she could picture a future with him, if she was the type to put down roots. But when a project is done, Maggie always moves on.

I really enjoyed the banter among these characters — so witty and laugh out loud funny. I loved the way this found family developed and came together, from Maggie and Dean being exes turned bffs, their dual romances in small town Idaho when they meet Silas and his brother Michael, whose family is already an amazing hodge podge of parents and siblings. They pull in Cody, the would-be teenage troublemaker with a rough life and heart of gold, and Wallace, the town grump who is just looking for companionship. Not to mention all the supporting characters who fill their home, too! Over the course of the renovations, Silas pulls Maggie out of her comfort zone again and again, showing her how to let yourself love and be loved, that it’s worth the risk of a broken heart to open up your heart.
Truly just a gushy, sweet (and at times spicy) romance that will leave you with a smile on your face!

I am in love! I am in love with this book!! This was my first experience with Score’s work, and gosh darn it! It was stupendous. I could probably wax poetic for days, but I am going to show some self-control and give you the highlights.

So fun!

I am always looking for a fun escape from this world, and this book provided me the perfect portal. I am almost certain I wore a smile on my face for 99.9% of this story, and I didn’t just laugh out loud, I cackled. The snappy dialog and humorous situations delighted me throughout. Think Gilmore Girls, and you will understand the feel of characters, place, and dialog.

Family for the win

It’s always a plus for me when family takes center stage, and here, there was a whole lotta family to love. There were the Wrights, Silas’ fantastic blended family, comprised of his mother, father, step-parents, sister, and half siblings. Their coexistence was so healthy. They were very loving, wonderful, and supportive of each other. There was also Maggie’s family, AND a stellar Kinship found-family. I felt love coming from everywhere, and my sappy heart grew two sizes.

Kinship – what a town!

Small towns bring me a special joy, and this place had me brimming with good cheer. I am happy to report, the town lived up to its name with a warm welcoming community and amazing and quirky inhabitants. There was also some interesting history intertwined with a mystery that played in the background of this story. It served as another fantastic layer Score embedded in this story.

A romance that owned me

Silas really was the “Wright” man. He was such a hopeless romantic, and he knew how to show he cared while also bringing the swoon. Maggie deserved someone as wonderful as him. I wanted this for her. I wanted this for them. The idea of “signs” was mentioned throughout this tale. There was this one, towards the end, that knocked me off my feet. My heartbeat just sped up a bit thinking about it, and I know it will delight other readers in the same way.

You can’t see my face, but if you could, you would note the happy tears in my eyes and the joyful smile on my face. I pretty much wore a grin from the beginning of this book to the end. The story was told with so much warmth and humor, and though the romance was top notch, the family and found family element was what really won my heart. Score topped it off with a very memorable ending which solidified this book in my heart.

Absolutely loved this one! Lucy Score is an amazing writer and this was such a wonderful story! I fell in love with all of the characters and the world that was created. And loved the little mystery interwoven throughout!

This was just a blast! I will read anything involving a home renovation, so this was an automatic yes for me. Set in a small town in Idaho, we follow Maggie as she fixes up an old house that is tied to a lot of history in the town. There's a bit of a mystery about the home's owners threaded throughout the story, and there's obviously a romance, between Maggie and her hired landscaper, Silas. I had an absolute blast reading this--it was quick, it was fun, it had a little bit of everything. The timeline for the romance flowed really well--there was a kind of instalove, but it was acknowledged in a self-aware way that made it less cringey, if that makes sense. Maggie runs a YouTube channel that highlights her flipping houses, and I really enjoyed the behind the scenes we get on that, but would have also loved to see more! I loved Silas and Maggie, both separately and as a couple--they were so sweet! Maggie in particular lacked some character development for me, which is why I didn't give this 5 stars--I feel like we just knew her on the surface, which was a tad disappointing. There's also a dog, Kevin, who is constantly getting into trouble, and honestly there isn't a trope I like more! I would highly recommend this one, and I can definitely see myself revisiting it in the future!

This is by no means my favourite Lucy Score book (I preferred Things We Never Got Over), but it's extremely readable and fun, with a great cast of secondary characters. If you enjoy HGTV type shows, you'll love this. I liked that Maggie was such a strong, independent female character, and I loved all the 'found family' aspects of the story (I wished we'd seen more Cody scenes because I loved his character!). Silas made me laugh as well, with his charm and constant flirting (his end of the story is very much insta-love). My favourite part of the book was really getting to know all the residents of Kinship though. From Wallace and the whole history of Kinship storyline to the romance between Maggie's partner Dean and Silas' brother, there were a surprising number of subplots going on, but they somehow all managed to work together.

(I will say though that I didn't like some of the scenes with Silas. At times, he seemed almost too assertive, basically telling Maggie what she should be doing or feeling?)

Maggie Moves On is Lucy Score’s first traditionally published book and it’s just as delightful as her indies!

This is an opposites attract romance between a YouTubing house flipper with no roots, and the charming landscaper she hires to help restore a Victorian mansion. Silas is a hometown guy, full of roots and a large family, which is the opposite of Maggie’s transient lifestyle but soon Silas’s magnetism and large dog start to win Maggie over.

Maggie went on such a great journey, she’s been leaning on her partner for her entire adult life and was finally forced to deal with her past and what she wants from the future.

There’s not much I love more than when the guy falls first. It’s definitely insta-love on Silas’s side, but I loved how straightforward and over the top he was in his attraction. He was absolutely determined to win over Maggie, and used his considerable charm to do so. I would hate this guy in real life but for a book boyfriend, I loved him. I loved his blended family and especially loved his dog, who kind of stole the whole book.

As always with Ms. Score, the side characters were plentiful and just as funny and enjoyable as the leads. There’s plenty of banter, steam, and overall I just really really loved it!

This was such a cute small town romance read! I couldn’t stop smiling when I was reading it. It had great flirty banter and amazing chemistry. It was well written with a plot that kept you hooked.

This book has the same small town feel and found family vibe as many of Lucy’s other romances, with a more laidback tone and slightly less steamy. It did still have some pretty steamy scenes but the overall tone is less angsty and more lighthearted. Silas is besotted with Maggie the first moment he meets her, thinks she is the girl of his dreams, wants her to be his wife from the beginning wear his ring on her
finger. He’s a guy who knows what he wants since the start, who is sunshine and chaos, who flirts shamelessly
with the heroine. He the best cinnamon roll. Maggie is the complete opposite. She is the
star of a home renovation show on YouTube, Maggie is a bit closed off at first, as she doesn't want to be dependent upon anyone.

In addition to having great
banter and just being an all around sweet story, there's also a bit of a mystery attached to the house Maggie is
renovating. As is typical for most of Lucy's books, the cast of side characters is amazing and hysterical. They add a
lot of humor to the story, and Lucy really is an expert at crafting interesting secondary characters.

Maggie Moves On is about Maggie, a house flipper with her own YouTube show, arriving in Kinship, Idaho for her next flip. She is so close to 1 million followers when she purchases the Campbell House. It’s. A huge project that she expects will take about 4 months and then she will move on to the next house to flip.

Things get interesting when Maggie meets Silas when he stops by to work up a landscaping proposal for the flip. Silas is instantly smitten with her and thinks that she is The One - all the signs are there. Of course, Silas is hired to be the landscaper and the sparks continue to fly. But Maggie keeps telling Silas that she isn’t one for sticking around.

In addition to the romance, family is a big theme in the story. I really enjoyed the side characters. Dean is Maggie’s work partner, best friend and ex-husband. Silas’ family is close knit and a lot of fun. And we can’t forget Kevin, Silas’ dog and a “diabolical attention whore.” All of them came together and just fit as a found family, which in turn helped Maggie reconnect with her own family. The ending made me tear up with one final sign to wrap up the story.

Toss this book in your beach bag if you like:
🏡 guy falls first
🏡 flirty banter
🏡 opposites attract
🏡 small town settings
🏡 found family

Maggie Moves On is out on June 21. Thanks to Forever for the ARC. All thoughts are my own.

QOTD: Would you rather do DIY house projects or hire a professional?
My A: DIY!! I LOVE learning new ways to repurpose & fix things!

This fast paced and fun romance has been on my TBR list forever and I've been impatiently waiting until we got closer to the pub date to finally dig in! I'm in the minority and have only read one other Lucy Score novel, so I didn't know what to expect writing wise. If I'm honest, I got a bit bored around 70%. I just felt like there was something missing, but I have no clue what! I think the lack of build up maybe? The MMC, Silas, was in love from the get go, like literally chapter 1 I think I needed a little more butting heads and will they won't they! I also never saw the point in her having been married to her best friend at one point? 🤷 I ended up in a mini book slump after this one so take that as you will! 😵‍💫
.
I did really like the YouTube channel aspect and I have NO doubt that this will be a favorite for so many people, especially fans of Lucy Score's other work. I liked it, it just wasn't my favorite. ❤️

BLURB:
House-flipping sensation and YouTube star Maggie Nichols can’t wait to dig into her next challenge. Arriving in tiny Kinship, Idaho, with only a cot and a coffeemaker, Maggie is prepared to restore a crumbling Victorian mansion in four months or less. She has her to-do lists, her blueprints, and her team. What she doesn’t have is time for sexy, laid-back landscaper Silas Wright.

The man takes flirtation to a whole new level. And he does it shirtless…sometimes pants-less. He and his service school-dropout dog are impressively persistent. But she’s not interested in putting down roots. Not when fans tune in to watch her travel the country turning dilapidated houses into dream homes. A short-term fling on the other hand could fit nicely into her calendar. After all, Maggie remembers what fun is like. Vaguely.

As their summer gets downright steamy, Silas manages to demolish the emotional walls she’s spent years building, sending Maggie into a panic. He’s the wrench in her carefully constructed plans. With the end of the project looming, she has a decision to make. But how can she stay when her entire career is built on moving on?

Maggie Moves On by Lucy Score follows YouTube sensation Maggie who renovates homes along her partner Dean. After the purchase of their biggest project to date Maggie and Dean are temporarily moving to Kinship, Idaho where she meets landscaper Silas who is hot, charming, and falls head over heels in love with Maggie upon meeting. Will she stay. Will she move on?

I absolutely adored Lucy Score’s latest novel. The way Lucy writes small town romance is beautiful and almost magical. She makes you care for each character and creates such an amazing sense of community between the characters but also with the readers. Maggie and Silas charmed me from the beginning. Silas was charming, funny, hot, and very forward about his feelings and intentions with Maggie from the start (which I love, we love seeing a man fall hard and fast). I understood and felt for Maggie’s hesitation and sense of not knowing where she belonged. Their journey is fun and endearing. Maggie brings so much life to this town/community and does her best to always to help others. Silas is a man that knows what he wants and does everything in his power to show Maggie that sometimes taking a chance is worth it. I loved their dynamic with each other but also with the other characters.

TW: death of a parent (past), familial abandonment, mentions of cheating

Actual 4.75

Lucy Score is unfortunately or miss for me. While I love that she writes main characters that are over 30, I find I sometimes struggle with their maturity level despite their ages. Well ding ding ding 🔔- I finally found a winner. I LOVED this.

I don’t think I’ve ever read such a charming hero before, a typical man’s man but makes all the ladies swoon. Their banter was off the charts and he just came on so strong I’m surprised Maggie didn’t cave earlier cause I would have (ho fo sho). I loved Maggie - she was very much a do it all on your own and never ask for help kind of gal - and I really resonate with that. Silas and Maggie made a great pair and really complimented each other.

Kevin the dog was the highlight for me though - he’s a strong interdependent woman who don’t need no man 😂

But my absolute favourite thing about this book was the found family. The most rag tag, random, boisterous group you could ever imagine. The storyline of Cody, the down-on-his-luck high school kid, being taken in by the town and this group of rambunctious adults made my heart so happy. I love that Maggie inadvertently fostered him 🥺

My only gripe about this book was the epilogue. I liked seeing the “where are they now” but it didn’t fit with how the book actually closed.

If you’re looking for a small town, the best found family, laugh out loud moments, pick this up. If that’s not enough then I recommend reading this for the waterfall alone 👀🌶

Lucy Score has my entire heart but this book is probably was one of my least favorite of theirs.

I love love how he fell first and was never shy about hiding it. His pickup lines made me laugh and his boldness was kind of everything. Bless Lucy score for always having a pet that you want to protect with you entire heart. Kevin for the win!

Maggie is so invested into her career that she tends to forget that there are other things important in her life. She is always on the move and forgets to live in the moment. That all changes the moment she meets Silas.

I loved the supporting characters and the dynamic between Silas’ family!

Be prepared for it to be a little cheesy and corny but I think it works in this setting!

Silas was a moment and did not expect him to talk so dirty (wink wink) which was a nice surprise! I do think he set unreal expectations about what he expected Maggie to do just because he had fallen for her. He had planned his future around her without asking what she wanted.

Wished the epilogue wouldn’t have been so rushed because the plot of this book was a moment and I don’t think it got the best ending.

I will always support Lucy Score and do think readers of them will enjoy this book!

thank you netgalley for the arc in exchange for my honest thoughts and opinions <3

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5
🌶🌶 2/5

Within 4% of this book, I wanted to propose to Silas & make him my forever Book Husband (although he has to share that spot with other fictional males 😩)

Maggie Nichols has a big Following on YouTube where she posts videos of her and her partner, Dean flipping houses. Her biggest project yet is in need of landscaping & that’s where she meets the very charming & flirty, Mr. Wright.
Silas Andrew Wright is not only a landscape contractor but a hopeless romantic & early on sets his eyes on Maggie. Unfortunately for him, Maggie's motto = do NOT mix business with pleasure but this only pushes Silas to dial up his small town charm and with the help of his trusty sidekick (Kevin his very playful pitbull) have Maggie stay in Kinship & fall in love with them.

The chemistry between Silas & Maggie?! Amazing!
I loved how sweet & romantic he was, how he believed in signs as dictating their fate. At the same time, his alpha protective side just 🥵🥵🥵 & the dirty talk?!💦

<b>"Silas: 'Meet the future Mrs. Wright. or maybe I'm the future Mr. Nichols. We haven't discussed name changes officially yet.'"</b>

I loved how she was hesitant at first, but slowly started to go along with his flirting attitude.

Maggie’s a strong independent female that knows what she wants. & we’re here for it! At 34, all she wants is the adrenaline of flipping houses, of moving from state to state to find her new adventure & of not settling down and putting down roots. The feeling of belonging and of being easily loved is unknown to Maggie’s character. & her journey of figuring herself out as a person was, just chefs kiss 💋

Kevin reminded me of my own pitbull, always up to mayhem and chaos but just the sweetest thing ever! (& yes he most definitely deserved a mention!) Although, I did fall in love with every single character mentioned in this book. Each character just added that extra umph to make this book just more lovable.

This rom com was just so freakin feel good, a for sure new comfort read for me and just totally screams Lucy Score, in the most amazing way!

The small hometown romance, the joy, the character developments, the mystery, the spice, the banter, etc etc.

Also round of applause for that sneak peak into everyone’s lives in the epilogue!!!!!!!! Lucy score, ma’am! You freakin deserve a standing ovation 👏🏼

But then again, I’ve always known that Lucy Score can do no wrong!
Like many people have comfort shows, comfort books (I have those as well), I also have comfort AUTHORS. Authors that I know will make life just instantly better, I can pick whatever book at random from them & know that I will fall in love.
Maggie Moves On, was no different.

<b>"I've been waiting my entire life to find home. and I found one. I <i>made</i> one. Here. With you."</b>
