Special thank you to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and net galley for allowing me to read and review this digital ARC of Maggie Moves On.
How cute is this cover - it definitely got my attention! This is my first read by. Lucy Score and won't be the last! Maggies is a competent, capable MC - she's sexy, smart a hero...this book has family drama, mystery, sex appeal, and so much more. It's a longer book but so easy to get through. Maggie is a house flipper with a YouTube channel that is very popular. Silas, a miracle worker landscaper sits to challenge Maggie. I loved their interactions and really enjoyed this book - would highly recommend! Kinship sounds like a really great place.
This was my first Score novel and I really enjoyed it. I loved the balance of tension and romance. I thought the plot moved along nicely and kept me engaged.
I was a little nervous because I'm not a fan of YouTubers which Maggie, the main character is, but thankfully I wasn't overwhelmed by her job and I was thrilled with the fact that poor Silas was more my speed.
Maggie's character was really well written. Her workaholic tendencies were perfectly characterized and made for a very realistic character flaw.
I absolutely loved Silas. He was so fun loving. Perhaps a little pushier than I like but still very fun. I loved the opposites attract romance.
But what really sold me on this book were the mystery elements. They kept me turning the pages to find out all of the answers and I was not disappointed. It all wrapped up nicely and I was clueless about almost all of it.
I will definitely be checking out more Score books!
I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley. This is my honest review.

Let me tell you- I loved this book before I dive into what I loved let me give you a quick synopsis.
Maggie has gone through many difficult things in her life, and she hates relying on people and places. This explains why her business in flipping houses contains only two employees, herself and her best friend, Dean. Maggie and Dean started filming the process of flipping houses on YouTube and her subscribers count just started to grow. Now she has advertisements and money coming in, causing Maggie to take on bigger projects. Maggie buys an old mansion belonging to The Campbells. The Campbells are a staple in the tiny town of Kinship, Idaho.
Maggie starts hiring local contractors to complete her flip of the house. She has a strict schedule to stick to and she doesn't have time for distractions. When the hot landscaper, Silas arrives-he doesn't care about her strict schedule. All he knows is he wants her. Maggie decides a short-term fling could be fun. As time passes, she is confused and doesn't know if she only wants a short-term fling after all...
First off, growing up if you loved HGTV and hallmark movies this is the best of both worlds. I loved the discussion on flipping houses and the landscape talk. It might be because I love gardening and am in the process of fixing up the landscape of the home of my bf and myself. (My bf is helping too lol) Maggie as the main character is great, there is a lot of growth but I also loved how determined she is, independent, and just stubborn. She also always has a plan-which is exactly how I am. Her friendship with Dean is great. Dean is dramatic, pessimistic, and absolutely hilarious. He calls Maggie out on her nonsense. Silas is Maggie's complete opposite, he is very optimistic, makes decisions based on emotion, and goes with the flow. Silas challenges Maggie to get out of her head. The found family in this book is everything. I loved watching the characters truly become a family, celebrating all the wins together, getting through the losses, and helping everyone move forward but also challenging everyone to grow.
I could go on forever but I truly think everyone will love this book. I know I do and will continue to recommend this book

"Maggie Moves On" is the perfect story for those of us who love the Instant Attraction trope! From the beginning, Silas knows that Maggie is the woman for him and he spends the entire book proving it to her. Despite her reservations, Maggie finds herself falling for her incredibly handsome landscaper (and his incredibly ridiculous dog!)
As an extra bonus, this book has:
- high heat!
- canine sidekick
- found family
And of course, the most perfect Happily Ever After! I'm not ashamed to admit I may have shed a tear or two over that dang photo!
I'm really hoping some of the secondary characters get their own books, I would love to see Dean and Michael get their own story some day!
Another Lucy Score book down, and I loved it just as much as every other time.
This book was absolutely made to be a romcom movie. A quirky dog, Maggie with her YouTube renovation channel, Silas who was a swoon worthy landscaper determined to make Maggie fall for him. Add her ex husband partner that made me laugh out loud and a surly teenager that just needed someone to help him out. What else do you need? OH a mystery treasure hunt. Perfect.
Seriously Lucy Score books have my heart, my soul, and put me in the best mood. This is a perfect summer read that kind of made me want to renovate my house (not going to happen) and I loved every second of this book!

Maggie Nichols lives for a challenge, and when it comes to her career flipping houses and filming it all for social media, the older the house the better. She knows that her current, dilapidated fixer-upper in Idaho might just be the one to put her over a million followers. With pressure mounting to provide for an ever-growing production team, the last thing Maggie has time to even think about is a love life. Enter Silas Wright: he’s Maggie’s hot, charming landscaping guy on her current project, and he knows that he’s the one to make Maggie rethink her whole outlook on love. Not only is Silas the eye candy Maggie needs to boost her ratings, but he’s also the caring, down-to-earth romantic who knows Maggie is the one for him. But with plans in place for Maggie to pick up and move on as soon as the current fixer-upper is done, the countdown is on for Silas to prove that it’s time for Maggie to stop running and build a solid foundation with him instead.
My love of fixer-upper shows goes way back to watching episodes of This Old House with my mom; that love has extended to books with any type of remodeling or redecorating theme, and Maggie Moves On might just top my list of romances featuring a house remodeling theme.
I have to first address my love of Silas Wright. If I ever needed a book boyfriend to be real for pure practicality’s sake, it would be for Sy. Sure, Sy is tall, chiseled, and charming - but most importantly, he’s handy around the house. Brooding males are fine, but can they help you renovate the inside of your house, plant and maintain a gorgeous lawn, and admit to being the first one to fall in love? Silas admitted to falling for Maggie so early on, I spent most of the book waiting for the other shoe to drop. Surely a gorgeous, considerate family man with a heart of gold and a lovable dog can’t be endgame from the very beginning. But clearly Lucy Score loves her readers, and she gave us a construction worker’s body, that golden boy smile, and a heart that doesn’t stray. Sy is definitely swoon-worthy book boyfriend material.
I also found a lot to love in the titular Maggie, but for completely different reasons. Maggie was such a complex character; part adult who has to shoulder the responsibility of providing for her production family, part inner child who is still running from her past and the love she never received from her father, Maggie often chose professional success in lieu of personal fulfillment. If not always relatable to every reader, Maggie is at least a very understandable character as she repeatedly either denies or tries to self-sabotage her own peace and happiness.
Try as Maggie might to pretend there isn’t a thing between her and Silas, this is a Lucy Score book so all that pretending only leads to some pretty spicy scenes. I loved these scenes between Sy and Maggie; Sy had confessed really early on that Maggie was The One for him, so in spite of the steam in these scenes, they often showed just how much Sy loved Maggie - whether she was willing to admit it or not. Their evolving relationship was fantastic to watch, thought to be completely honest, I was invested mostly because of Silas.
And if a story featuring a swoon-worthy man, a wayward woman finding her way, and plenty of spice isn’t enough to tempt you, then you need to read Maggie Moves On for Kevin, Sy’s pet dog who is definitely a character all his own.

This book makes the perfect summer read. Lucy Score is the master of the quirky small town romance. This book is filled to the brim with funny banter, sweet moments, family connections, quite a cast of characters, and spice to make it fun.
Maggie is a very driven, type A person who has become a famous YouTube success with her home renovation show. She and her costar/ex, Dean, come to Idaho to renovate the Old Campbell place, a dilapidated mansion full of hidden charm and mysteries. She meets Silas, the landscaper, and his lovable pup, Kevin. It’s love at first sight for Silas and he immediately bets Maggie five dollars that she will want to stay and be with him. Through the course of the story, there are several misunderstandings, mysteries, and problems that crop up, both in the old house and in Maggie and Silas’s relationship.
This book left me with all the warm fuzzies. I loved how it ended and tied so many things together. It’s a sweet, feel good escape to read if you enjoy HGTV, romantic comedies, mischievous but well-meaning dogs, and small town mysteries.
Thank you to @netgalley and @readforeverpub for the gifted e-ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
"You matter to me so much that I have to take the leap. I have to step into the unknown and try. I'll do things wrong. I'll get into funks. I'll argue with you and work too hard. But I will also love you as intensely as I do anything."
This was my first read by Lucy Score. It did take me awhile to get into the story. I didn't like Silas in the first half of the book. He was too arrogant and I thought he overreacted on Maggie's choices. The second half I thought Silas was easier to connect to. He became more conscious of his reactions towards Maggie.
I loved all the side characters. Dean, Cody, Silas' dog, and Silas' siblings were a fun bunch. There's also a bit of a treasure hunt that I didn't expect and I was surprised this book had some spice.
I thought the ending was great. We got a glimpse into the future of everyone's lives. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Read this if you like small town romances with some spice and is great for fans of HGTV and Fixer Upper.

Did I spend several hours watching home renovation channels on YouTube after finishing this… yes I did.
Will I continue to watch those channels now… probably.
This was cute and fun, but a bit too long in my opinion. It dragged a bit near the middle, which is often a deal breaker for me when I’m reading romance, but I pushed through with this one and it did eventually pick back up.
I really liked Maggie. And loved Dean (I’d definitely read a Dean spin off book). I was bit less sure about Silas though, he was just a bit too pushy at times for my taste.
Overall, it wasn’t perfect but I did still enjoy it.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an eARC!
Okay, this absolutely should have worked for me but it ultimately didn't. Maggie is a YouTuber who makes her living buying, renovating, and flipping houses, all of which she and her business partner (and ex-husband) Dean capture on YouTube on their super popular channel. This story starts with Maggie buying a huge old house in a town called Kinship, Idaho. She quickly finds herself attracted to a member of one of the local crews that she and Dean hire, a landscaper named Silas. All of this setup was great for me, and Silas' dog Kevin was my favorite character in the book by far. But the more Silas was on the page, the more I actually disliked him as a love interest. He's very domineering and overbearing and while Maggie seems cool with that overall and everything is totally consensual, I just didn't find him appealing as a love interest. The other issue I had with this is that there's just soooooo much going on. The romance, the renovation, a sort of historical mystery about lost treasure/stolen gold, and a lot of different family situations that kind of threw me. Silas has a huge, blended family, and while all of the family members are charming, I struggled to keep them all straight. Maggie has family drama too, along with a lot of long-term grief that she hasn't really dealt with. There's just a lot happening here, and I felt like all of the different plots meant than none of them got their full due. I did like Lucy Score's writing and would read more of her work for sure, this book just wasn't quite it for me.
4.5 stars rounded up
Oh, I forgot how much fun small-town romance books can be, but thankfully Lucy Score brings it with her upcoming release, Maggie Moves On.
Silas Wright was a whole treasure. I think he would bug me so much in real life, but in this book I was just completely enamored with his over-the-top personality and complete disregard for “playing it cool” with Maggie.
Maggie tried so hard to keep her blinders up and not let Silas woo her with his persistent flirting. I understood Maggie’s commitment to moving forward and not taking breaks – you can tell she was afraid of what emotions would surface if she took the time to pause and reflect on where she was in life, so she buried it until she couldn’t ignore grief and loneliness. I devoured this book and definitely recommend if you love old homes with history, DIY renovation storylines, found family, hilarious pets, and small town romance. This is definitely a “Hallmark After Dark” book ;)

I loved this book! Maggie Moves On by Lucy Score is a perfect summer romcom about a house flipper who falls in love with her sexy landscaper. Maggie Nichols has made a life for herself as a You-Tube star flipping houses with her best friend and ex-husband Dean. The two flit from town to town renovating crumbling shacks and turning them into dream homes. Arriving in the small town of Kinship, Idaho to renovate the town’s historical Campbell home, Maggie wanderlust is waning, and she finds she may want to spread her roots.
I love Maggie. She is such a fun character. She flips the script on feminine. Maggie is a force to be reckoned with, stubborn to a fault, loyal, and has an iron wall built around her heart. Her life has been far from perfect, but over the last few years, she’s carved a perfect life for herself. She doesn’t need anyone except for Dean or anything except a hammer and she’ll be happy. Or at least that’s what she thinks.
Then enters Silas Wright. I absolutely love Silas! His POV is hilarious to read. This man is head over heels for Maggie from first sight. He tells his brother he’s met his future wife, she just doesn’t know it yet. He then doggedly pursues a relationship with the ever reluctant Maggie. I love how grounded he is and convicted of his own feelings. While Maggie is someone who overanalyzes and thinks things to death, Silas jumps head first whenever his heart tells him too. And it is telling him to do just that.
While the romance is the clear driver of the plot, a lot of the action revolves around the remodeling of the Campbell home. This once great mansion is filled with town history and a little mystery surrounding the original owners. As Maggie works to bring the house into the current century, more mysteries are uncovered, and there may be a little wild west gold involved 😉
Overall I loved Maggie Moves On. This book is a delight to read. Maggie and Silas are fantastic, and the side characters are wonderfully fleshed out and real. I love Dean and Cody, Maggie’s found family, and Silas’s family is amazing. This is a must-read romantic comedy for your summer enjoyment!
Lucy Score does some things really well, and one of them is a good, funny small-town romance. MAGGIE MOVES ON is definitely one of those romances. Sure, maybe it's variations on a theme: the heroine is relatable but just shy of "not like other girls," there's an enormous, overprotective hero, someone has a big, loud family and a sibling in need of some assistance, there's likely some kind of quirky animal and a local delicacy, and often there's an underlying mystery. But they're good themes, clearly! She and her readers are returning to them for a reason, and it's because she writes them well, particularly a small town that doesn't feel like it's full of white conservatives.
So alright, Silas is a bit more overprotective than he needs to be, and Maggie is almost obtusely independent, and the book is perhaps trying to accomplish one or two too many plotlines. It's a fun ride, though, and has Lucy's trademark steam (both sex and hot springs).
I love this book so much!!! No one does small towns and steamy love interests like Lucy Score and this was one of her best yet!
Question: Why did I choose to read Maggie Moves On by Lucy Score?
Answer: Because my Grandma’s name was Maggie, and she was my best friend. Also because the cover had a dog on it!
With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that I didn’t know what to expect from this book, or from Score’s writing. But let me tell you, it was a pleasant surprise to discover the spicy scenes. And hello! It was just the right amount; both the right number of steamy scenes and the level of spice!
I cannot remember too many books that I have actually laughed out loud while reading – but I absolutely LOL’d with this one! Multiple times. I loved that the humour was exactly my style. which is basically the same as a dirty minded adolescent. I have no shame.
Something I struggle with in rom-coms? Having characters that are my age. Both Maggie and Silas were in their 30’s, but more importantly, they were both adults and mature in their thinking and with the relationship that was developing between them. This makes my 40 minus heart so happy.
Rapid fire loves: small town setting, instalove-ish trope, a setting somewhere in Idaho, a mystery to solve, a dog named Kevin, referring to it as “pop” not soda, friendships and family to make me want to host a big backyard BBQ.
I will absolutely start low-key stocking Score on Instagram now, because the quick wit that I adored in this book, is what I’m finding on her feed and in her newsletter. I mean, I am here for things like her saying “small-town romcoms are my lady jam.”
I’m all done gushing now!

This book was fantastic! I love home renovation programs so this was a must read for me when I saw the premise of the story.
Lucy delivers a hilariously, creative and wonderful story filled with amazing characters. I’d love to hang out on the porch drinking tea with this crew.
Determined, driven and workaholic Maggie is taking on her largest project to date. She does not stop, relax or believe in downtime - because she may have to come to terms with things from her past that cause her stress.
Hot, confident and cocky landscaper Silas is quite the character. He has a great business, wonderful family and is a very caring person who will help anyone.
From Silas and Maggie’s first meeting sparks fly, endless banter begins along with a wonderful working relationship. Lucy writes all the characters in this book with amazing and realistic personalities. The whit, sass and endless angsty moments will have you binge reading this book.
I received a complimentary copy and I am leaving my honest review.
This was a hard to put down read. I won’t lie, this is my first Lucy Score book, but it’ll definitely won’t be the last. Her compelling writing draw me into her world from the first page.
I had high hopes for Maggie Moves On from the description. I was disappointed that it didn’t really hit the mark for me, though it seems that I’m one of few that feel that way.
Things I Liked:
- The small town feel of the setting
- Silas’s extended family and their dynamics – I absolutely loved his family, the relationships between them, and the banter.
- Cute dog
Things That Didn’t Work For Me:
- This was a little bit too insta-love for me, and Silas unrelentingly pursues Maggie throughout the book, even when Maggie doesn’t seem interested or doesn’t want a relationship.
- I had trouble connecting to Silas and Maggie. There were moments where I liked them, but overall they felt a bit flat to me and I didn’t root for them in the way that I’d normally want to from a romance novel.
Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the digital copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
I loved this book, but it is LONG! There were times and parts that i wanted to skip just to find out what happened. But by sticking to it through the end you get all the stories wrapped up.
I like Maggie & Silas's love story and all the signs that point to them being together.
The setting is beautiful!
I loved the Wright family and how they all supported and helped each other.
There is just so much going on in this book and so much to talk about.
It's a great read with romance, family, mystery and love.
Thanks NetGalley for this ARC!
3.5/5
What a cute (and many times steamy) novel! Maggie, a home renovator with a youtube show, buys a dilapidated mansion in Idaho as one of her many projects. She usually moves from house to house and city to city filming her show and has never really settled down. Cue Kinship, Idaho. Maggie’s renovation of the Old Campbell Place brings the whole city out to help and she builds relationships with many of the townspeople, including a hunky landscaper Silas.
I enjoyed the mysteries of the house and the Campbell family and how they were presented throughout the novel. I also really really loved all of Silas’ family and their family dynamic. That family could have their own reality show for sure. There was a lot of heart in the book and it was much more emotional than I was expecting.
I wasn’t super crazy about the dialogue between Maggie and Silas. It seemed forced in places and I wasn’t a huge fan of all of Silas’ darlings and condescending comments towards Maggie. I also felt this book tried to deliver a little too many story lines which made it a slow in spots.
It was a very unique romance for me and there was a lot of great character development and backstory that gave the book a great structure. Great summer steamy romance!
Thank you to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGalley for granting me a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!
