Oh my goodness, the hot landscaper and his flirting have won me over!
Lucy Score had me laughing, tearing up, cheering, swooning and feeling all the feels throughout this entire book. I adored Maggie on her own, but paired with Silas- hot!, Dean- loveable, Cody- endearing, Wallace- laughable, and everyone else in town- a total heroine.
Everything about this book was wonderful. The beginning had me guffawing (Kevin barfing on the porch and Silas running around in his underwear!) but the ending gave me chills, in such a good way. I especially loved the italicized updates to everyone in the book- a perfect ending!
The meet cute for this story was so fun and endearing! It's always a nice change to read about a hero who falls for the heroine first. Silas calls Maggie his "future wife" on their first meeting and I loved their banter. You can't forget the loveable dog Kevin as well! Man oh man, I couldn't stop laughing at Kevin's antics and the conversations Silas has with his dog. This was overall a fun romcom read!
I laughed out loud. I swooned over the hot landscaper. I cheered for Maggie to be successful, to love, and to find home and family. I loved every single page of this steamy and funny romance! The banter between Silas and Maggie, as well as the dialogue between the rest of the characters was smart and witty. There were many relationships in this book to explore beyond our main characters—friends, siblings, and family in all forms! All of it kept me entertained and captivated from beginning to end!
Oh my goodness. I absolutely adored this book.
It was funny and sweet and charming and heartwarming. Ugh. I really just wanted to hug everyone at the end.
I really loved Maggie and Silas - watching their relationship grow. I loved how Maggie slowly built herself a home and family and put down some roots without quite realizing it. I loved seeing the interactions between everyone - it was one cute and sometimes dysfunctional family. There were some really funny moments that had me laughing out loud. I lover the little mystery aspect in uncovering the heritage of the home.
Basically there was a lot I really really enjoyed about this book. It is a feel good story that is perfect for summer.
(4.5 rounding up!)
This was a super fun, opposites attract, dual POV summer love story between Maggie, an emotionally stunted Youtube sensation house flipper and Silas, a go-with-the-flow landscaper she hires to help her with her newest reno.
Full of witty banter, a cute dog sidekick, found family, memorable side characters, lots of steamy open door scenes, hidden treasure and a decades old mystery, this book literally had it all. Perfect for fans of Homewreckers by Mary Kay Andrews and Something wilder by Christina Lauren.
I loved this and can't recommend it enough! Much thanks to NetGalley and Forever for my advance review copies! Available June 21st, you definitely don't want to miss this one!

I loved this book! Score writes great characters and overall a great story. All of her characters are well developed and likable down to the literal pets. The pacing is done well and this never felt like it was dragging or I was being given too much info. The found family in this book genuinely brought me to tears at the end.
✨ARC Review✨
“Maggie Nichols, I don’t mean to scare you off, but I think you just might be the girl of my dreams.”
Maggie and Dean, fellow business partners, are house flippers and You-Tubers. Maggie is taking on her biggest project yet, a dilapidated mansion with beautiful history. Maggie decides to hire the overly forward and flirty landscaper Silas, to do the ground’s work for the house flip. Silas or “Sly Sy” as Dean loves to call him is immediately smitten with Maggie, and doesn’t hold back in letting her know it. His adorable “business partner” Kevin the pit bull is also along for the adventures and had me cracking up!
I loved the dynamic between Maggie and Dean, and you can tell they enjoy each other’s company. They are funny, quirky, and the best of friends, and have quite a history. Her chemistry with Silas, however, is next level! Their flirtatious banter never skips a beat. He has a way of making Maggie come alive again. He came into her life abruptly, made her forget stressors, and just live life. Maggie not only finds the history of the mansion she is flipping, but she is also finding herself, and is ultimately faced with BIG decisions…
This was my first Lucy Score book, and while I didn’t LOVE it, I did at least enjoy it, and would still recommend it! I think my biggest issues revolved around an “insta-love” feel, and the pacing of the book. While it was fast in the beginning, it slowed towards the end, and I found myself losing interest.

A special thank you to NetGalley and Forever Publishing for this eARC! Maggie Moves On is out June 21st!
The only other book I have read by Lucy Score was Rock Bottom Girl which I really enjoyed, but I never followed it up with more from this author for whatever reason. This was incredible with such a capable heroine and I cannot wait to read more from Score.
Lucy Score is one author that I can depend on. I know I’m going to get well written characters with smart plot and a well crafted story with heart and some steam. She delivered once again with Maggie Moves On.
I loved how Silas was all in, “this is the one” right from the start. I loved seeing how the town, Silas’ family, Silas and the house worked its way into Maggie’s heart as they came together to renovate the house and grounds. With a little bit of mystery thrown in, to keep you guessing this was a great story.
Thanks to Netgalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for a chance to read this advance copy.
Maggie Moves On is a cute small town romance. Maggie flips houses professionally and shares her exploits on her youtube channel. Silas owns his own landscaping business and goes to Maggie to bid on doing the landscaping for her newest project. Silas' attraction to Maggie could only be called instalove, and he pursues her with singleminded focus. Maggie is a wanderer who doesn't want to be tied down and Silas is all about setting down roots.
My favorite thing about this story were the side characters: Silas' Family, Dean, Cody, Wallace, and especially Kevin.
This story as a whole fell flat for me. I love Lucy Score and so many of her books, but I wasn't able to connect to these characters or the story. This book had a lot of sub story lines, and the ones that were the most interesting to me, seemed to be some of the more minor ones. My favorite part of this story was learning about the house, but I felt that part of the story was rushed and I would have loved it to be more prominent.
I am a huge Lucy Score fan, and I look forward to reading more of her books, this one just wasn't my cup of tea.
I received an arc of this book and voluntarily give my honest review.
"Maggie Moves On", is another great story, told by the fabulously talented Lucy Score, and I think she has another best seller on her hands. What happens when a beautiful, single woman contractor, and YouTube Star, with one goal in life, and a hot, single landscaper who follows the signs, meet over the renovation of a small town mansion, that is harboring a century old secret? This book will pull you in, and run you through the gamut of emotions, while asking, and answering all the questions, with some of most fun, loveable and cranky characters and a town to fall in love with. I'd give Ten stars if I could, but Five will have to do
Lucy Score is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. I read Things We Never Got Over last month and it’s one of my favorites for the year so far. When I saw that one of her books was being published by Read Forever, I jumped at the chance to review an early copy. Maggie Moves On is about an internet famous house-flipper who goes into small communities and uses her notoriety to fix up a place and bring opportunities and a spotlight to the struggling local businesses.
There is so much to love about this one including:
- a super flirty, cinnamon roll hero (who falls first)
- superb found family vibes
- small town romance with a mystery thrown in
- great banter and lots of chemistry
Normally, the kind of straight forward flirting that Silas does with Maggie isn’t my favorite. For real life this is great because the communication is excellent and no one is left wondering where the other stands. However, I have a super soft spot for romantic leads who are growly and grumpy and mean to everyone but the object of their affection and keep their feelings close to their chests. So I was surprised by how quickly Silas managed to charm me as he flirted relentlessly with Maggie and never gave up on her despite her spiky exterior.
Maggie Moves On is a sexy, sweet, funny, heartfelt love story about finding yourself and allowing love in even when it’s scary. It’s about a group of people who alone didn’t have much, but together built a beautiful family full of love and purpose. It’s got so many serendipitous twists and turns that feel like the gooiest icing on an already delicious cake. I cannot recommend this one enough. My thanks to read forever for the early copy. Maggie moves on is out June 21st!
Maggie Moves On by Lucy Score is a perfectly cozy read for fans of Christina Lauren and Tessa Bailey's Bellinger Sisters duology. The plot centers around Maggie, a YouTuber with a home renovation channel who buys a property in the town of Kinship hoping to restore it and give it a bit of a facelift. She's got an aversion to staying in one place for too long but for once, thanks to Silas and the rest of Kinship, she begins to consider that running from place to place may not be suitable for her anymore. The expansive (and fun) cast of characters welcome the reader as warmly as they welcome Maggie, with no detail too small to miss. At first I thought the book's pacing was too slow but I quickly realized the book is meant to be savored and worn into, paralleling Maggie's arc throughout the story. The romance between Maggie and Silas was exciting and steamy in all the right places, but at the same time safe and secure for the both of them. If you're a fan of the guy falls first, influencer girl + no social media presence guy, and small town romance tropes, this is the book for you.
I absolutely loved Maggie Moves On! It is a charming, hilarious, entertaining romance with a lot of heart.
Maggie and Silas were both great characters with lots of personality. Their banter was often funny and quick witted, and the chemistry between them was obvious from their first meeting. They both grew quite a bit individually as their relationship developed. They also definitely had different opinions on relationships, family, and love that caused some friction. Those differences felt really true to each of them and I thought they were resolved really well.
I loved how capable, strong, and fun Maggie was. Her YouTube show rehabbing houses was interesting and I loved getting to see what she does as the project progressed. It was nice how the original owners of the house and town history played a part in the story too.
Lucy Score is a master at writing small-town romance. She does a wonderful job of creating a community that feels alive and makes you wish you could live there too. I would love more stories from Kinship, Idaho, but I will read anything Lucy writes!
I absolutely loved this book! This was a new to me author and since I have been in a book funk I wasn't expecting much, but it was wonderful! I loved the characters and the little bits of mystery in this romantic comedy. I now need to go read all of her books.
Maggie is a successful type A home flipper and YouTube phenomena who is just moving to her new project, a historical dilapidated Victorian in Kinship, Idaho. It’s there she meets the sexy new landscaper, Silas. She has a strict rule that they don’t date contractors and she doesn’t have the time or energy to commit to a relationship that’s going no where once she moves onto her next house. So while he is a fantasy come to life she’s determined to resist his very forward advances.
Silas is excited to be working on his dream project and the fact that it’s with his dream girl just sweetens the deal. He’s convinced he’s just met his future but now only to convince the very reluctant Maggie of that fact. With sheer determination and a therapy school drop out dog whose always up for shenanigans, Silas is ready to win his girl over.
Maggie has spent her whole life going from one big project to the next trying to fill the empty hole in her heart where family should be with the money from her flips and the love from her subscribers. The more time she spends with Silas, his big blended family, and the little crew of misfits she’s started collecting since moving to Kinship, the more she wonders if the path she’s on is the right one after all. Silas is convinced Maggie and he are endgame but Maggie’s life is ruled by facts and logic and she’s not sure a pros and cons list can help her figure out what she needs this time.
I loved the premise of this book but I was a little nervous when I downloaded and saw it was 3rd person POV. Thankfully I had nothing to worry about because I was so invested in this story I kept forgetting I didn’t like 3rd person as I was reading it. I figured Silas was just a sweet guy next door type but hold onto your panties because this man has a hot alpha protective streak hiding just under the surface.
And if Silas doesn’t steal your heart then prepare to fall hard for the mischievous doggo Kevin who honestly stole the show or with any one of the amazing secondary characters who dig their way into Maggie’s life and heart. Lucy didn’t just tell us the story of Maggie and Silas but she built this incredible support network around them that they were able to lean on as things fell apart and came together.
If you enjoy history or unsolved mysteries at all there is a history to the house Maggie is flipping and the deeper she digs into Renos the more the truth of the past comes out.
This is my first read by Lucy Score but it won’t be my last. I absolutely fell in love with this book and these characters and if you need me you can find me looking up old homes of realtor sites and wishing I lived somewhere like Kinship, Idaho with all these amazing characters.
Thanks so much to Netgalley, Forever Publishing and Lucy Score for providing me with an early copy to review!
This is my first novel by Lucy Score, but it won't be my last. It contains some of the best banter I've ever written, with a heavy side of romance and steam, and terrific character development from both leads, Maggie and Hot Landscaper Guy (Silas). I loved the "found family" that Maggie created while fixing up The Campbell House. Kevin the dog is a stand-out character in his own right! Lucy's writing reminds me of Tessa Bailey, and I would recommend this book for fans of that author.
During every book I’ve read by this author, I find myself smiling throughout the story. It was no different while reading Maggie Moves On. In Maggie and Silas’ story, we have a Youtube star slowly reaching her one-millionth follower and the extremely swoony and talented landscape designer who found his future wife with just one look. These two could not be any more different. Maggie has lived a rootless existence for almost a decade, once a project is done, she moves on. She claims to be family-less except for her partner and has thick walls surrounding her heart. Silas on the other hand is deeply rooted in his community, has a tight-knit family, albeit complicated, and intends to smash through those walls.
As the weeks go by, Silas along with his naughty pitbull rescue, Kevin, and the rest of the community of Kinship, Idaho shows Maggie the fantastic feeling of finally belonging somewhere and possibly wanting to finally settle down somewhere. The chemistry between these two was amazing, the banter was hilarious and the secondary characters brought so much to the story.
Not only does Lucy Score write the best rom-com, they are also very girthy, so there is a lot more to their story. Just be prepared to smile, swoon, and have a great time.
Thank you to Lucy Score’s publishing team, Forever (Grand Central Publishing), and Netgalley for the complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
I really loved this book! Maggie Nichols has a popular YouTube channel where she buys, rehabs and flips homes. Her latest project is a dilapidated mansion in Kinship Idaho. Silas Wright is the local landscape contractor Maggie has hired to work on the project. At their first meeting, Silas is smitten. I have to say, I don’t typically like the insta-love romance trope, as they tend to rely on the physical attraction to justify undying love. Silas is attracted to more than Maggie’s looks, and the author does a great job explaining why he likes her, warts and all. I also loved all of the side characters in the small town. My only complaint is that this isn’t the start of a series, I would have loved to come back to Kinship. I received an ARC of this book for my honest review.
I received an ARC from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Maggie Nichols is a famous house-flipping you-tuber who is tackling her biggest project yet, the old Campbell Place, in Kinship, Idaho. She hires a full team prepared to renovate and sell this historic property, but she isn't prepared when her hot landscaper, Silas Wright, falls madly in love with her at first glance. Maggie always moves on, and she knows she can't let her heart get involved. Silas wants forever, but will he be happy enough with just right now?
UGH. I wanted to like this so much. I love Lucy's books, and as much as it pains me to say this was just boring. Silas is an alpha, but an annoying one. He is completely overbearing the entire book, and when Maggie says something he basically ignores what she says and tries to be charming. He is like a helicopter who you can't get away from, and frankly he would smother you to death from hovering. I can't stand that in a man so it was really hard to have that in the hero. Also, there was so much description in the book about the house renovation that it made me skipping paragraphs from boredom. It could have been way shorter, and instead it kept dragging and dragging.
I loved Kevin- a star even without any lines. Maggie was funny and very witty. I just wish she had a better hero because for someone as strong-minded as her she sure put up with an idiot.
