A huge thank you to Forever Publishing and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book!
.
This is the first Lucy Score book that I've read, and based on the description it had everything I want in a romance novel; independent female main character, ruggedly handsome love interest, and most importantly a dog! I loved that Maggie and Silas were in their 30s, and the fact that neither had found their person wasn't frowned upon or seen as bizarre. I hope that their is a spinoff novel focusing on Dean and Michael because I found myself quickly latching on to their relationship and wanting to get to know them both more. Silas' family is so broad that there are plenty of characters we could follow in the universe.
.
That said, I did not love Silas pretty much at all. He grew on me slowly, but right from the start I found him to be overbearing and demanding, immediately referring to Maggie in their first meeting as his "future wife." This kind of alpha behavior was a turn-off for me, but it won't be for everyone. There is a degree of others in his life forcing him to understand that just because he wants things to be a certain way doesn't mean that it will always happen on his timeline and that growth felt authentic. I really enjoyed Maggie and the perfect amount of steam throughout the book. Kevin, the dog, is hilarious and I was excited every time he was mentioned.

This was really cute. This is my first Lucy Score book and I'll definitely be going back for more. It's cute, with a surprisingly large amount of depth and great chemistry between the characters. The flirting was fun, the small town-ness was really well done, and this is the perfect beach read or vacation read. Would highly recommend!

I think its well beyond time to admit that Lucy Score can not write a bad book. And she continued her streak with Maggie Moves On.

๐Ÿ“š ๐—ง๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ: Small town romance, opposites attract

๐Ÿ“– ๐—ฆ๐˜†๐—ป๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐˜€๐—ถ๐˜€: Maggie moves from town to town fixing up homes and flipping them for her successful YouTube show. But she steps into Idaho, and with one look her handsome landscaper is declaring she's the love of his life. As Silas works to convince her not to move on as she always does, Maggie has to decide whether to take her first ever leap of faith.

๐ŸŒŸ ๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜„: Whew, what a doozy of a book. It features everything Lucy is becoming famous for - relatable characters with relatable issues who fall in big swoony love with each other.

I loved how Silas fell hard and fast and refused to do anything but end up with Maggie. I loved how Maggie resisted. I loved the crazy cast of characters and the underlying story of the town's history. It all just hit right.

I'll admit (and I'm doing this while noting I'm rating this book a solid 5 ๐ŸŒŸ read), there's a bit of a formula going on. Small town, hot guy with a dog, gay best friend... but no matter how many times she uses it, I appreciate not only the incredible read but I appreciate the variations on it to make it feel fresh.

Bottom line? This book is like a sexy HGTV show, with enough toe-curling romance that you'll close it with a smile on your face.

Maggie Moves On fulfilled my love for small-town, he falls first stories. Iโ€™ve fallen in love with Lucy Scoreโ€™s writing and this book made me love the author even more. This book was fun, romantic and I enjoyed the flirty banter between Silas and Maggie.

Maggie Moves On was a sexy and fun romcom. There was lots of flirty banter and small town shenanigans. The ultra instalove was a bit jarring, but ultimately I liked how gone Silas was for Maggie. There is never a question about his intentions or feelings and I appreciated how he truly saw and understood Maggie and what she needed. Silas's family was a hoot, but it was the found family that stole the show. I'm also always a fan of dogs in books, so Kevin was a fun addition.

I think where the story stumbled for me was the numerous secondary characters and subplots. There was A LOT going on in this novel. The pacing was also on the slower side, which made the book feel too long. The Campbell House mystery was intriguing and it helped wrap the end up in a nice bow, but it also took up a lot of page time. Overall, an entertaining book, but I wish it had been a bit shorter.

3.5 stars

One of my top reads by this author. Iโ€™ve read them all, and itโ€™s always impossible to choose.
Iโ€™m not normally a huge fan of a cinnamon roll hero, but I am of this one. Silas has just enough alpha in him to make me love him. Maggie is a house flipper that travels from place to place. You canโ€™t really get attached to people when you live a nomadic lifestyle. Silas is determined to change her mind. Heโ€™s pretty convinced that they are destined to be together.
I liked that he wasnโ€™t a man that had slept with everyone in town. I loved that the families got along. I canโ€™t recommend this enough. If you enjoy this one, then you have to go back and read Mr Fixer Upper and The Christmas Fix by the same author.

this is my second time reading a Lucy Score novel and i gotta say...her writing is delightfully captivating

Maggie Moves On follows house flipper and youtube star Maggie Nichols, on her next restoration journey in Idaho, where she meets her new landscaper, and the very charming, Silas Wright.
Never one to settle, Maggie is focussed on her project while Silas is tackling the question of how he's going to convince her that she's his dream woman.

Lucy Score definitely has an unique writing style that makes a 400+ page novel seem like a novella because I read this one in a day (which was the same with By A Thread).
the house flipping alone was a very interesting concept but i also liked that with the renovations comes a little bit of a side mystery

Maggie Nichols is a woman on a mission. she's very level headed, strong and laser focused on her career. i just loved her attitude towards Silas, acting all nonchalant while he was flirting his heart out.
But in saying that, yes, Silas was instantly infatuated with Maggie. usually that's a BIG no for me but in this case, he was a man that knew what he wanted and went for it. i also think it added to his personality (he is a bit of an alpha) because it's what broke through to Maggie, and she took it like a good sport

we also have some amazing side characters that added the found family atmosphere. they were necessary for the story and i truly adored all of them

the ending was maybe a bit too abrupt and maybe there were a few things that just seemed too convenient but....i still really enjoyed Maggie and Silas' love story

"I've been waiting my entire life to find home. And I found one. I made one. Here. With you."

When I tell you this book has it ALL.... romance, flirty banter, a doofy but lovable dog, wild west references, a freakin' treasure hunt (!!!), spicy scenes, character development, house renovations, reverse grumpy sunshine. Honestly, the list could go on!

No one writes small town romance like Lucy Score. She creates small towns through big characters that you can't help but wish were real.

Maggie is always moving forward. She loves lists, staying on track, and moving on to the next project once her current one is done. She's made her way in life by creating a flourishing YouTube channel that showcases her flipping houses with her work partner, Dean. (Think YouTube version of an HGTV show.) She doesn't get attached to anything or anyone and always moves on to her next project quickly. UNTIL (you knew that was coming, right?) she starts her biggest project yet, and meets all the incredible people that make up Kinship, Idaho.

Enter Silas. Quite possible the most confident and flirty landscaper ever written! As soon as he meets Maggie, he knows she's the one for him. And so begins his mission to prove it to her, with the help of his very goofy but adorable dog, Kevin. Silas is a serious charmer with just a hint of possessive alpha-hole. And he makes up for his name (sorry, it just didn't jive with me) with his use of the pet name "darlin'"... It gets me every time.

So not only do we have these reverse grumpy/sunshine characters finding romance amidst a huge mansion renovation, there is a side of mystery and a treasure hunt?! This book is honestly a wild ride but I loved it. And I loved seeing all the members of the small town become family to Maggie and her crew.

I did find some of the "mystery" aspect to be somewhat predictable... There was a bit of dialogue that made me cringe... but, overall this was a very, very fun book and I am so thankful I was able to get an ARC copy!

Read if you like:
+ incorrigible, flirty banter that will make you blush
+ small town mystery
+ found family (that includes a dog and some kittens)
+ HGTV and talk of house flips
+ reverse grumpy/sunshine

This book is HILARIOUS and so much fun! Maggie Moves On had me crying laughing (also crying crying - sometimes simultaneously) with its witty humor, lovable and spunky characters, led by capable, genius, headstrong Maggie Nichols. I was taken by surprise as the cover, title, and even description seem somewhat typical for an unassuming, sweet flipping-houses romcom (nothing wrong with this). But! Enter Silas Wright (#HotLandscaperGuy): and I am rolling on the floor, tears streaming down my face, slapping my knee like my uncle Jack at Christmas. The moments of heartfelt tenderness, the small town cast of characters, the anticipation and attraction (the sexy scenes are hot!), the adventure of a treasure hunt, the suspense of a family mystery. This hits all the marks and leaves me feeling like I enjoyed a vacation escape to the little town of Kinship. Recommending this to all my friends. And I am immediately adding everything written by Lucy Score to my TBR!

I need a fainting couch for this book it was so sWOONYYY. There's something about a persistently flirty guy who actually respects boundaries that is SO charming. Silas was an incredible romantic lead and Maggie was a compellingly complex main character. I enjoyed how Maggie was an entirely unreliable narrator which really fit with her reserved characterization. I enjoyed learning about her through Silas' POV. The story arc and slow change of heart were really lovely and the treasure hunt intrigue was an interesting and gripping twist that got tied into the story. I loved how full circle the narrative was and it really rounded out the story amazingly!

SENSATIONAL. This will be one of my favorite books this year. Not only is the romance so perfect but thereโ€™s so many elements that make this book work. Found family, history, a little mystery, Steam, kitties and Kevin, exceptionally funny banter.

This book literally has it all. From chapter one youโ€™ll be laughing your butt off. Lucy Score can write banter!! This was my first book by hers and welp, now I gotta read her back list. Silas aka Hot Landscaper Guy is so freaking swoony. (Favorite book bf alert). Maggie is hilarious and a go getter. The two together make this an amazing romance.

What was extremely special was how all the side characters had well enough flushed out stories that they seamlessly fit into the book and made it that much better. Den, Wallace, Dayana, Cody, The Moms, The Dads, and the history of the house were all incorporated into this book so well and I wish they werenโ€™t so we could get books on all of them.

This book is special! I hope you fall in love with it like I did.

This enjoyable read has a lot going on, all of which I very much enjoyed: a sweetheart of a leading man who falls fast and hard, a tough leading gal whose trust in people needs to be rebuilt (and with very good reason), an adorable service-dog-dropout hound who steals the show, and a supporting cast that enhances the story significantly. While the book is indeed long, I personally think that's a good thing when the story moves along well and the characters are likeable (such as is the case here); I'm definitely not complaining about getting to spend more time in this world of Kinship that Ms. Score created. While this book is certainly built around the budding romance between Maggie and Silas, and it's got an interesting little mystery running through it, I'd say the most important aspect of the story revolves around the relationships being both developed and repaired. The plot is different and the ensemble cast enjoyable, ensuring that this story is one that will stand out in my memory rather than get lost among so many others.

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for providing an ARC for review.

Maggie Moves On is a romance book between a women who flips houses and a man who is a landscaper. It's by Lucy Score, a romance author I've heard a lot about. This was my first book by her although Things We Never Got Over is on my tbr. This book had a cute romance and I loved the dog in it Kevin!! The guy also falls first, which is a trope I like. It's a slow burn, but I didn't really connect with the characters or feel that hooked into their relationship. If you liked How To Love Your Neighbor, I'd recommend.

3.5 stars It was a solid read for me, but parts didn't click with me.

Maggie was a good heroine but Silas was a hit or miss throughout the book. I liked that he fell in love first those kind of tropes are always fun, but then he would be dumb in many ways that turned me off. I felt that the book either hit it's pace or slowed way down. I am always up for a slow burn, but this one I got bored when it slowed.

Maggie Moves On is part Hallmark movie, part sassy comedy.ย  Itโ€™s fun, breezy, easy on the heart and a pleasant diversion, but the pushy and sometimes aggressive hero knocked it down a couple of grade points.

House flipper Maggie Nichols has invested in a falling-down pile in Idaho, much to the consternation of her friend and co-worker, Dean, but thatโ€™s just par for the course. She has a successful YouTube series about rebuilds like this one, and the Campbell House feels like a prime opportunity for high hits.ย  And sheโ€™s going to do it all in four months or less, then sheโ€™ll be gone with the breeze once again.

The structure was built years ago as a gesture of love from its owner to his wife, but in the hundreds odd years since, itโ€™s seen some better days. So has Maggieโ€™s heart. When she meets the handsome local landscaper Silas Wright, it seems that her luck is finally starting to turn around.ย  Especially because Silas likes to work shirtless sometimes.ย  And, when sheโ€™s lucky, pantsless.

Silas is easy-breezy with his life โ€“ he shares it with his pitbull, Kevin, a chubby failed service school dropout who has a propensity for getting himself into mischief.ย  But the second he sees Maggie, Silas wants to marry her and settle down.ย  Maggie is much harder to convince than anticipated; she travels for her series and has never stayed in one place for very long. She agrees to a sexual affair with no promise of the future.ย  But a mystery related to the house, a local legend, a series of accidents, some complicated relationships with their developing found families and some pesky feelings intervene.ย  But when the summer ends, who will be forced to pull up stakes and move on?

Maggie Moves On is just plain fun โ€“ at least when Silas isnโ€™t pushing his agenda with Maggie way too hard.ย  Lighthearted, nigh on goofy, it has a mostly sweet hero who displays some annoyingly pushy and over-the-top protective moments, a very prickly and driven heroine, and a dog that was probably Sam Kinison in a past life.ย  Itโ€™s a fine romance, and itโ€™s fun to have a hero be the one charming the heroine into falling in love.

Silas is difficult to get a bead on, though, sometimes sweet and sunshiney, sometimes making presumptive and possessive moves toward Maggie that left me uncomfortable (what was he thinking in regard to that kayak incident?).ย  Maggie has her rough edges for a major reason, and the author peels back those edges to make her reluctance and eventually joy make a lot of sense.

The supporting cast is great. Thereโ€™s Cody, a local teenage punk with distant parents and a heart of gold who straightens up and flies right thanks to the intervention of Maggie and Silas.ย  Thereโ€™s Deanโ€™s relationship with his boyfriend, Michael, which might be finally getting serious. Silas and Maggie have other friends who are all well-drawn, smart, and contribute well to the story at large, and all of them are going through different things in their own lives.ย  All of these characters help form an imperfect found family which turns out to be a great source of warmth and support for both characters.ย  And if you like Scoreโ€™s other novels, keep your eyes peeled for some of the cameos.

Thereโ€™s a lot going on in the narrative, from Maggie and Silasโ€™ career situations to their found families ย Kevin, and everything connected to the house, but the novel doesnโ€™t fell poorly paced or overstuffed, and their romance feels reasonable and tender.

This is also a wonderfully funny book.ย  I laughed at the occasional narrative interjections from Maggieโ€™s YouTube subscribers, who try to do everything from sell her a special poultice to take care of a bruised toe to insulting her home repair choices.ย  Thereโ€™s no shortage of antics across the board from the supporting cast.

But I had to subtract even more points for Silasโ€™ insta-lust.ย  I wish he hadnโ€™t fallen in love at first sight with Maggie and instead, had taken a little more time to get to know her before immediately declaring that they were going to be married.ย  And his overreactions sometimes really grated on me.

Then again, maybe that wouldโ€™ve damaged the magic brew that makes up Maggie Moves On, which is enchanting and delightful enough just as it is.

A small town romance with every thing you need to have a smile permanently plastered to your face. This book had tons more steam than I was originally anticipating but I love how Lucy Score is keeping on my toes.

Silas was a breathe of fresh air. Like everyone else I love a good broody man who can't admit his feelings because that makes for delicious tension, however-- Silas is a different breed of man. He knows what he wants from the jump and I thoroughly enjoyed experiencing this kind of hero. I could not help but full on swoon for him.

I can't wait to see what Lucy Score comes up with next!

There were parts of this book that I loved so much! The found family theme is...*chef's kiss*...so good. The collection of people who came together to form a ragtag family was heartwarming and adorable and it completely won my heart. And, while insta love is a really really tough sell for me, I did love the way Silas doggedly pursued Maggie and the way she fell for him in a way that seemed to take her by surprise and definitely happened against her will. And, of course, I loved Kevin and the kitties who stole several scenes and kept my heart so happy.

That said, I felt like there was...a lot going on in this story. Maybe a little too much. It was very slow in parts and I skimmed over much of the mystery subplot. Some of it distracted me from the romance, in a way maybe kept me feeling separated from it and not wholly invested in the way I wanted. I enjoyed it. But I didn't feel it. I felt like I wanted more of a connection to Silas and Molly, but what I got was a deeper connection to the town of Kinship in general.

Which, honestly, wasn't a bad thing because the people of Kinship are fantastic. In all, it was a solidly good story. I loved it in fits and starts. I was invested in a way that kept me reading even when the pacing slowed down on me. I loved these people, and the way they rallied around each other. It was quirky and fun and uplifting. And while the romance didn't consume my heart quite like I wanted it to, it was definitely worth the read!

Another big hit from Lucy Score. I love the way she writes found family in a small town, romance, friendship, etc.
I loved this one. Maggie & Sy were wonderful, and watching them fall in love was a dream. Every single side character felt like family and truly, this was a story about blended and found families. I loved seeing the journey of Maggie and the small town of Kinship restore this historical home, along with all of the signs and fate that brought Maggie right where she was supposed to be.
The added mystery of trying to figure out the history of the house and the family who originally owned it was lots of fun too.
Plus more cute animals and hot men, always a win.
Definitely recommend this one!!!

Thank you to NetGalley & the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

If youโ€™re a fan of HGTV and romance (like me) this book is for you. I loved picturing all the home renos! The only thing I didnโ€™t love was how certain parts the plot felt very rushed and unrealistic. I also wish we had gotten a proper epilogue. Overall, still a cute and easy read.

I had this advanced readers copy sitting on my NetGalley shelf for a little over a month and I cannot believe I didnโ€™t read it sooner. I enjoyed myself so much while reading this & I literally have the biggest smile on my face while typing this review. This was everything I love about romance and more. It was my first @scorelucy book but it definitely wonโ€™t be my last!

This is an opposites attract, open door romance with a small town, hallmark movie vibe. I really enjoyed the unique premise of a successful YouTube influencer & house flipper Maggie that has to work in a very heated environment with her sexy landscaper, Silas. Who by the way, is the biggest flirt and Maggie does all she can to resist but at the end of the day, the attraction they have for one another is stronger than their own will. Not only was the spice on point, but the romance was swoony and had me laughing so many times. I recommend this if you enjoy spicy, small town, romcom!

You can expect:

* Opposites Attract Romance
* Forced Proximity
* Small Town Romance
* Flirty Banter & Sexual Tension
* Home Renovations & Social Media
* Hallmark Movies & HGTV Vibes
* Open Door Romance
