“Did I ever tell you that my heart skips a beat every time you walk toward me?” Silas said, flashing her a slow, panty-melting grin. “You should probably get that checked,” she said lightly. “Could be something serious.” “Oh, I sure hope so,” he drawled.”

This book has me feeling CONFLICTED!

Maggie Moves On is cute as heck, has an excellent example of the found family trope & Silas is so charming and good to the bone that you can help but enjoy his character.

It also features a really healthy and happy family dynamic, which was really nice to read!

But I felt like Maggie was meant to be charmed by the town, the people and most of all Silas. But Silas’s pushiness felt like it was crossing a line and felt.. less than charming at times. I think maybe that I am biased here, and am speaking from my own uncomfortable feelings towards people who act as he did. I think he is charming enough on his own that he didn’t need to push things with Maggie.

Also the mystery, in some parts, felt like an added layer that threw off the pacing of the book for me. But at the same time it added a connection to the town that made me, as the reader, feel more connected to this place. But I do question if it was too many cooks in the kitchen?

Overall I do think this is a cute and adorable story that is worth reading! Unfortunately, it wasn’t for a new fave for me. But this is my first Lucy Score book and I am extremely excited to read more of her work.

3.5/5⭐️

Lucy Score does it again! I live through her sweet and insanely funny characters. Maggie's got her hands full with flipping a gorgeous old home in Idaho. And thankfully the hot and sexy Silas has the skills to make it happen. But it's never that easy is it? There's a dog, a house, a best friend, woman in desperate need of a vacation, and of course, a lovely plot twist you didn't see coming.

Don't plan on getting any sleep, you won't be able to put this down.

Thank you NetGalley and Forever Publishing for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I LOVE Lucy Score. When I found out she was publishing a book, I was so excited. And this book did not disappoint.

An opposites attract and small town romance filled with amazing banter, remodelling, and the sweetest Hero EVER. Maggie is rich. She buys a mansion with the goal of renovating it while she films it for her followers. Silas is hired as a landscaping contractor to help Maggie. The two could not be more opposite, but when Silas realizes all he can think about is Maggie, he will not stop until she knows how much she means to him. Even though Maggie is closed off and insists she does not need to rely on anyone but herself, she finds Silas intriguing and different than most guys.

This steamy romance filled with great banter and chemistry is another great job done by Lucy Score.

I tried to like this book but it was not for me. Silas is a jerk and I get that he’s supposed to be doing the Midwest tough guy alpha schtick but it was written clumsily. Some random contractor yelling at the person writing their check after two weeks? If that. Please. That’s not romantic, it’s asking to be fired and run off the job.

Also, not sure what the hang up with calling Nirina “half” sister at every mention was about but cut the crap. She’s just his sister. Michael who is his stepbrother is called his brother with zero issue but the distinction had to be made with Niri? I can’t roll my eyes hard enough.

The concept is great, but the execution left a lot to be desired.

After my first read from Lucy Score rocked my socks off, I couldn’t begin reading this ARC fast enough. Will this home-reno romance make my dreams come true? Let’s find out!

Read if you like: fun, real stories; home/live renovation; found family; historical mystery; reconciling the past; chasing dreams; finding the meaning of home; overly confident, yet sensitive leading man; and a leading lady whose plan is her life, and she needs to get a new life.

Maggie Nichols has a successful YouTube channel where she flips houses and finds heartwarming stories all to help someone else’s dream home come true. And she always moves on. Always. Her new project is her biggest yet, and holds a special connection to her past. That surely won’t complicate things. Especially not when her potential landscaper shows up and is as dreamy as his designs.

Silas Morgan is confident, sensitive, and carries that ‘old west’ chivalry into the current age. He’s just shown up at the biggest potential job of his life. One that could mean great things for him and the town that’s recently fallen on hardship. What he doesn’t expect is to be knocked off his feet by his dream woman. As soon as he lays eyes on Maggie, he knows that he’ll do anything to win the landscaping bid… and her heart.

Our duo is in for a very big surprise when they start digging into the story of their build. The local legends have a lot to say about the town and the big house on the hill.

I found this book to be absolutely wonderful. With Maggie Moves On, Lucy Score, again, emersed me into a setting. I love the small town feel and the cohesive friend and family group that is built around the two main characters. It makes everything about the story feel so much more alive and connected.

Maggie is the proverbial workaholic trying to make a future better than her past. She loves helping others but is shortsighted about her own happiness. Silas is that guy that’s genuinely nice and good at everything. His blended family works hard to make sure everyone is cared for, but he often forgets that not everyone’s wants line up with his own. Together they take one hot mess of a house and their found family and cobble them together into a life bustling with reno projects and love.

As if that wasn’t enough to make a great story, we also get a bit of mystery. There’s the legend of missing gold – stolen via stagecoach robbery. The old house has an important history, too. The notable owners left their fortune in a trust for the town. When discoveries are made in the house, we realize that there might be a lot more hidden than gold. Pack this all up with hilarious banter and YouTube comments and you have a story that reaches back into history and propels us into the future. All in search of a dream.

A fast favorite, Maggie Moves On is scheduled to be published on June 21, 2022.

After falling in love with Things We Never Got Over, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Lucy Score’s upcoming release. I’m disappointed to say that this book was just okay.

The romance between Maggie and Silas was sweet and humorous given Silas’s jovial personality. He’s interested in Maggie as soon as he meets her and his inner dialogue reflects just how serious he is about Maggie being “the one.” I enjoyed the banter, the strong family theme, and the small-town vibe of Kinship. This was a lighthearted rom-com, but I found it lacking.

Truthfully, I felt bored through most of the book. It took me a while to get through it because I kept putting it down. In my opinion, the book is filled with unnecessary fluff and drama that only convoluted the story. The mild mystery aspect of the plot made the story feel drawn out, which is why I found myself skimming these scenes as they didn’t interest me. Many parts of the plot also felt exaggerated and cheesy, and not in a good way—i.e. what Maggie does for Cody and the unexpected visitor at the party at the end. I wish the story had more angst or conflict (which is not something I typically want more of), but I think it would have made the story more exciting.

A lady who lives on the road going from house-flipping project to project and a man who has deep roots in his hometown. They don't sound like they would work, but BOY DO THEY.

Work-a-holic Maggie tackles each project with endless enthusiasm and vision. She's content with this way of life and she has a hard time stepping back and basking in her accomplishments. No, wait. That's not quite right. She's wildly pleased with the houses she's flipped and her ability to see the potential in the projects she's working on, but she's always reaching forward. Her fame and accomplishments are great, but they're just a stepping stone to the next project. The lady doesn't have a whole lot of close friends and she rarely takes the time to slow down and just be.

Silas, on the other hand, lives large. He loves his job, he has a big, nosy family who support him, and he's instantly smitten with Maggie. While she makes it clear that Kinship is just a brief stop for her, he tries his level best to get her to fall in love with his town. And, well, with him. Because he's all in pretty much from the moment he lays eyes on her.

A goofy, barfing dog, a little case of almost-nudity, a small town who welcomes Maggie with open arms, a bucket of old family drama, a whole lot of flirting, and a mystery that Maggie, Silas, and crew tackle with enthusiasm. Maggie and Silas has sass and steam and sexy times to spare and BOY DID I LIKE THEM!

This was my first book by Lucy Score, and certainly won't be my last. I had heard some good rumblings about this one, but didn't know much before cracking open it's cover. YouTube sensation Maggie Nichols is tackling her next big home reno flip--The Old Campbell House, a mansion in rural Kinship, Idaho. But will a Hot Landscaper and a found family make her think about making the flip her own, and for once *not* moving on?

I just loved this book so much--I didn't want it to end. And that's saying something, because this book is a behemoth, and quite long for a contemporary romance. But with a steamy romance, loads of personal growth, more side characters than I can count on one hand, and an underlying mystery, there's a lot to fit into these packed pages. So I buckled in for the long haul and did my best to savor every bit. There's not much more to say than this book is definitely a new favorite. It has literally everything you could want: a charming, witty, banter between the leads coupled with fantastic chemistry, hilarious and heart-warming friends and family, and a modern attitude on life and family that was refreshing without being annoyingly woke. For example, when Silas, our male lead is joking around with the heroine he says something along the lines of (not a direct quote) "This'll be a great story to tell the kids one day. Or nieces and nephews if you don't want kids." At another point, in a similar joking fashion he refers to the heroine as "the future Mrs. Wright. Or maybe she'll keep her last name. Or we'll hyphenate. We haven't worked it out yet." Even when he's making a joke, he's not making assumptions, and I just really appreciated it.

I wish I could go back and experience this book again. Or have it be made into a movie. But I don't think a movie could do it justice.

Thanks to Forever for my ARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

After loving Things We Never Got Over, I wanted to read more of Lucy Score’s books. Maggie Moves On seemed like a story I would really enjoy and I dived into it the moment I was approved for an ARC.

I stand by my statement (from my review of Things We Never Got Over) that Lucy Score is the cure to my anxiety. I had a lot of fun with Maggie and Silas, they had an amazing chemistry, and I loved them from the beginning. Also, who am I to resist a small-town romance? Those are my weakness, Maggie Moves On was no exception.

Now, I must say that I have only read three of Lucy Score’s stories, this one included. Therefore, I am still pretty new to this author and although I have loved Riley Thorn and The Dead Guy Next Door as well as Things We Never Got Over, I didn’t have the highest expectations for Maggie Moves On. But it became clear, very quickly, that Lucy Score knows how to write great romances with their fun, steamy and sweet parts but also stories with friendships and family dynamics that are so easy to love, you just keep on wanting more.

Overall, I devoured this book and it made for a great weekend read. Now, I’m even more determined than before to read more of this author’s books.

PS: This book is releasing on June 21st (my birthday) so I’ll definitely be getting a physical copy of it (a gift from me to me). :)

Lucy Score is known for her small-town romances, featuring smoldering sex scenes and charming banter. It’s her formula - but it definitely works for her, so I’m not complaining.

Maggie Moves On is about Maggie, a YouTube influencer who flips houses, and just landed in Kinship, Idaho to work on her biggest project yet- the dilapidated mansion, the Old Campbell Place. She arrives with a lean crew of just her business partner and only friend, Dean, and a crazy workaholic drive. She ends up hiring Silas as her landscaper, a local with strong ties to the community, who happens to be hot and perfect on film. For Silas, he knows right away that Maggie is the one, and spends the entire book trying to woo her while helping her fix up her house.

This wouldn’t be a small town romance without a charming cast of secondary characters, and the theme of found family is strong with this one. Silas has a messy but loving family (two moms, two dads, 3 siblings), and Dean and Maggie have a long history of caring for each other. In Kinship, they meet a quirky cast of characters, including a grumpy old man who acts as town historian and a troubled high school senior.

Throughout the story, we get to see some house-flipping details and a historical mystery of missing gold. I wish there had been a little more house details and a little less mystery - the emotional conflict between Maggie and Silas was enough without adding this mystery to the mix. I also felt like some of the plot lines really required a suspension of disbelief, and the issue with Maggie’s family was resolved too quickly as almost an afterthought. I also thought so many plot points led to a book that could have been tighter in execution, with fewer pages. It felt meandering, but charming enough to still keep me engaged throughout the story.

But Lucy Score’s magic formula includes impeccable banter. I found myself laughing over the hijinks of Kevin the dog, and the conversations with Silas’ siblings. The golden retriever hero who falls so hard and fast for the prickly heroine is a fun plot, and their love story is executed well here.

Overall, if you like small-town romances and heroes who fall hard and fast, this is a great one to try.

Maggie Nichols is a house-flipping sensation and YouTube star. She can’t wait to dig into her next challenge. Which happens to be in Kinship, Idaho. That's where she meets handyman Silas. Talk about wow! They work together all summer long. Silas manages to breakdown some of Maggie's walls. Hopefully that will be enough for them to have their HEA.

Maggie Moves on by Lucy Score was a heartfelt small town romance that did crazy good things to my heart! I can always count on Lucy to bring the heat and the swoon! This cute romance was about a YouTube star who comes to town to renovate a huge mansion. During the process, she ends up falling for her hot landscaper and all the fun begins! Lucy really dug deep inside my heart with this romance, and I always look forward to more.

I loooooved this book. It was lengthy, had mid 30s MC's, was believable and throughly enjoyable. Maggie is renovating a mansion in the middle of small town Idaho with a legend of a golden treasure. Her youtube renovation channel is about to hit a million subscribers and she's just busy concentrating on the next move and next house. This Campbell house turns out to be different and as we're thrown into the middle of renovations, we find a heartwarming story with lots of love, chemistry and plenty of small town character eccentricities. Plus there's even a gold rush mystery

I loved Maggie Moves On, a story about a house flipper/YouTube star who falls in love with a hunky, small-town landscaper. Maggie goes through so much over the course of the novel, and I really enjoyed her journey. She puts a lot of pressure on herself and, very driven, gives herself little time for friends and even less for her estranged family. However, being in a charming, small town like Kinship and connecting with so many people gives Maggie a sense of belonging she never experienced before, and she begins to question some of her life choices. She also reconnects with some people in her past and learns that not everything was what it seemed. It is an intriguing and satisfying sub-plot that also changes Maggie deeply. It’s interesting to see how she deals with her deep-seated fears and insecurities, as well as her desire to belong to something bigger than herself, while still trying to maintain her identity and independence.

The home renovation show that Maggie stars in is a great backdrop for the story. Maggie has a special connection to the house that she’s remodeling, and it definitely brings up some things from her past. It also propels her to ponder her future and what she wants in life. I almost feel like the house’s demolition and subsequent reconstruction parallel Maggie’s emotional growth throughout the story. Plus, the renovations they do sound incredible, and the author’s description of the work they do creates such a vivid image of this beautiful work in progress.

One of my favorite characters in the story is Kevin. Silas’s dog is the perfect addition to the story, and he’s so adorable, as is his hunky owner. Silas is funny and charming, and the way he almost instantly knows Maggie is the one for him is super romantic. I love that he wears his heart on his sleeve and isn’t afraid to show his feelings. Silas and Maggie’s banter is fantastic, and the way he teases and flirts with Maggie is relentless and endearing. And Silas and Maggie’s romance is fantastic!! I loved both characters and adored their love story. They have so much chemistry, and Silas’s overtures are super swoon-worthy.

The secondary characters are as fantastic as Maggie and Silas. Silas has an amazing family, and the small-town feel of the community is lovely. I like that Maggie finds so many people in Kinship to connect with. From Silas’s sisters to an at-risk teen to the cranky old man with a connection to Maggie’s house, she finds so much more than a house renovation in Kinship, Ohio. And Silas’s moms are the best! They’re so smart and fun, and the way they and the rest of the family welcome all into their fold is fantastic.

There’s so much to love about this fun and heartwarming romance! A well-paced and layered story, the book has dynamic characters and strong messages about following your dreams, finding your people, forgiveness, and opening your heart to love, and there’s even a little mystery added in that’s intriguing! And the romances (yes, there’s a secondary romance that’s super sweet too!) are wonderful. I can’t wait to read more by Lucy Score and am so grateful to Forever Publishing for providing me with a copy of the book. All opinions are my own.

Maggie Nichols has been living her life on the move flipping houses and running a successful YouTube channel . So when she arrives in Kinship to renovate Old Campbell Place mansion , she has no intention to stay . That is where she meets Silas Wright , a sexy, flirty local who joins her crew in renovating the place . Silas being the romantic he is , falls in love with her thinking she would eventually stay with him. What would happen to them when she finishes her work in Kinship?

The storyline was really beautifully plotted . Silas was so charming and flirty . Maggie who drowms herself in her work , had family issues as well as slightly commitment issues . Silas helps her enjoy her life . He remained persistent in persuading her since the start and never looked back. I can brag about him endlessly if you want . We can't Kevin, Silas' dog , who is so adorable . I would certainly recommend this book.

I absolutely adore everything Lucy Score writes and this book is no exception.
Maggie was a character that you could see yourself in and you felt all of her emotions with her.
Silas was so head over heels for her it was just too cute. Kevin was too cute and the perfect furry companion for this romance!
This book has to be one of the best rom-coms I have read in a while, don’t walk to get this book, run!

Famous house flipping YouTuber Maggie Nichols has been thriving on a rhythm of flipping and selling houses on quickly moving on to the next home renovation project as quickly as possible. When she arrives in Kinship, Idaho to renovate the crumbling Old Campbell Place mansion, she knows it will be the biggest and most difficult flip that she has done to date. What she doesn't expect is to become entrenched in the small town and finding love. Silas, who becomes knows as the Hot Landscaper to her YouTube fans, sweeps her off her feet and next thing you know, they're in a relationship. Will Maggie be able to move on to the next project and leave Silas and everyone in the town behind?

I fell in love with Silas from the moment he appeared in the second chapter of this book. He was a hopeless romantic who wasn't afraid to put himself out there, knowing that Maggie would reject him over and over. He knew that with his shameless flirting, his good looks and charms, and with all the signs that he was going to get Maggie to realize that this thing between them was a good idea. I loved that he jumped into everything with two feet, understanding that they would figure it out along the way but believing that it would work out in their favor. He is the definition of swoon-worthy and I couldn't get enough of him!

Maggie and Silas were perfect matches for each other. They shared a passion for their work, understanding that having a whimsical vision for their end goal for their projects was important. Maggie was a workaholic and stubborn about asking for help and Silas kept her grounded. He forced her to take a break, be in the present, and to stop to smell the roses. When she finally gave in to his persistence and realized that she wasn't going to win because he doesn't play fair, their romantic coupling was the stuff that relationship goals are made of. And I can't write this review without mentioning their sexual chemistry was HOT and everything I needed.

The people of Kinship, Idaho were a found family that I would love to have supporting me. They took care of their own. Silas' charming mixed family was a bit unconventional but somehow they made perfect sense. I loved all of their unique and supportive relationships.

This book is pure PERFECTION! I felt like I was floating on cloud nine the entire time I was reading the book and I had a hard time putting it down. I laughed, I cried, and I was bursting with emotions. Pick up this book for a fun, flirty, heart-warming small town romance that will get you in all the feels!
