This is my second Miranda Liasson book and book two of the Seashell Harbor series - though you could probably read this one as a stand-alone. This one started off just a tad slow, as we got the background info - but I’m very thankful for that because it’s been a year since I read book one and needed it! But once the romance starts, it’s utter perfection.

Kit is a single mom to an adorable five-year-old, Ollie. Her husband died in the air force a few years ago. Kit’s husband’s best friend - Alex de la Cruz - comes back to Seashell Harbor. He wants to help fix up the old Victorian home that belonged to his best friend so his wife and kid will be able to sell it and live financially free without him. But Alex moves in temporarily. And bonds with Ollie. And Kit just can’t stay away.

Need a new book boyfriend? Look no further. Alex de la Cruz had me swooning. Such a sweet and perfect romance for the summer!

I’m crossing all my fingers that we’ll get Darla’s story next summer…🤞🤞🤞

Kit and Alex, two acquaintances caught in the depths of grief, but for different reasons. Kit lost her husband and Alex happened to have been his best friend. She’s trying to raise her young son, go back to school, move out of her parents’ house, and get on with her life.

Alex is in town to help Kit restore her late husband’s house. Kit doesn’t want his help and gets the feeling Alex doesn’t even like her at all. She couldn’t be more mistaken. Alex has his own reasons for wanting to help Kit renovate the house and is keeping a secret that makes him keep her at a distance. Somehow, he needs to convince Kit to accept his help so he can complete the job and move on.

A story of loss, grief, healing, friendships, new beginnings, second chances, and a HEA.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Loved it. Widow gets a second chance at love. Entertaining and challenging relationships are evolving in this tale. A young boy, dog, and a cat add sweetness and charm. An engaging story that had my eyes misting now and then. I am eager to read more by this author. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley.

This book was thoroughly enjoyable. I loved the characters and believable storyline - and I’m a sucker for second chance / unrequited love type romance. It was sweet, sexy, funny, and endearing. The book was well paced and well written.

Kit is a widowed mother who lost her husband and two years later is still struggling to find her way in life. At 35 she lives with her parents, works a job she hates, and feels like it is time to start dating, but she can’t imagine how to move on. Alex was best friends with Kit’s late husband and has come to town to try to fix up Carson’s old Victorian home so Kit can sell it and move on with her life. Both of them carry so much grief over Carson’s death and are struggling to move on with their lives. As the two work together to fix up the old house like Carson always wanted to, they find themselves learning to find joy and trying to let go of their pain in the most unexpected ways. I loved the push pull tension and will they won’t they element in this book. And Alex was such an amazing main character, the perfect combination of tough and sweet. I also loved Kit’s son Ollie, and the many animals in this book. Kit’s two best friends are great characters, and I can’t wait for Darla to get a book of her own. Such an enjoyable book!

Another wonderful and heartwarming, well written story from Miranda Liasson.
Kit is raising her young son after losing her husband when he was in the military. Alex was her husbands friend and has vowed to help her fix up an old home and sell it. He has some past pain of his own he's dealing with but he's been raised to keep his promises.
No matter how much Kit tries to put him off...one thing leads to another and eventually, they might just get through it all and be happy.
Family love, strong and supportive friends, heartwarming moments, a sweet little boy, romance, small town coziness, some humor and many emotional moments all had me loving this story.

After reading Coming Home to Seashell Harbor last summer, I have been waiting for Sea Glass Summer. Unfortunately, I didn’t connect with Kit and Alex the same way as Hadley and Cam. Ollie was a very cute character, and I enjoyed how he was involved in Kit and Alex’s relationship. I would recommend reading it to continue the series.
Read if you like:
- (fake) enemies to lovers
- small town coastal charm
- high school friends
- home restoration
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever.

I have never read a book I haven’t loved by author Miranda Liasson, this book is no exception. Being a long time military wife myself I was almost afraid to read about the anguish of a wife who lost her husband to a military accident. It is every military wife’s nightmare but it was well written and did not go into any details that could be potentially triggering. It was a beautiful story of a deep love lost and finding the strength to learn to live and love again. The story of the cute little beach town and the group of long time friends continues with the story of Kit and Alex. The story isn’t just the typical love story but adds in everyday life that is very relatable. Single parenting, little league games, relationships with parents, what’s for dinner and even a bit of home improvement DIY. Miranda Liasson has a way of writing that doesn’t have you rolling your eyes at the typical love story trappings. Alex and Kits story is sweet and fun and an easy summer beach read that I highly recommend. If you haven’t read book one in this series I highly recommend that one as well. So looking forward to book 3 and to see how Darcy and Nick fair and to revisit this fun group of friends.

Sea Glass Summer is a wonderfully romantic story about old friends, new beginnings, surviving loss and finding new love. Alex was Kit’s late husband’s best friend and consumed by guilt that he survived Afghanistan while his friend didn’t. He also always has been hugely attracted to Kit. Author Miranda Liasson has created characters that readers can identify with and believable dialogue. Kit’s young son Ollie often steals the show as he struggles to fit in. This book was a pleasure to get immersed in. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. Highly recommend.

This is a great addition to Seashell Harbor. What an incredible touching story to read. Once I started reading this story, I could not put it down. I love the characters, Kit and her five year old son, Ollie, her best friends Darla, Hadley. Kit's husband, Carson, died in action as an air force fighter pilot two years ago in Afghanistan . Her family and friends have been there for her. Since his death, Kit and Ollie has been living with her parents. Now she is thinking she must set some goals for herself. She needs to get her own place. One goal was to sign up for college classes to complete her degree in psychology so she could become a mental health therapist. Another goal is to make some improvements to the house that her husband had inherited and sell it. This would be a big undertaking since it needed a lot of repairs and updates. She had it up for sale before but it did not sell. Her husband best friend Alex also an air force fighter pilot had offered to do the renovations but she told him thanks but no. However, Alex returned after his discharge with one thing on his mind. He is going to renovate the house to honor Carson's memory. He feels guilty that Carson died and hope to have closure about Carson's death. He told Kit that he has the skills and would only charge her for the materials after the house sells. Although Kit has trouble accepting help she finally agreed as long as she had input. This is a story of overcoming grief, acceptance, and moving on as well as being able to love again. There is a lot more regarding this story which makes it a must read. I do not want to give away all the other good parts of the story. I highly recommend this book.

Sea Glass Summer is set in a fictional small town full of nosy neighbors, loving family and friends, where romance blooms when you least expect it. Loved this book and enjoyed the visit to the small harbor town in this story! Kit and Ollie are cared for and loved by many. This book is another enjoyable read that you can’t put down and when it’s finished you want to read more about the characters that are in Seashell Harbor. Thank you Miranda Liasson for another fantastic book.

Oh my! This was a story I couldn't escape from!

Kit lost her husband and Ollie lost his father while serving in the military.
She has been swallowed up by grief. She needs to get back to some sort of normalcy.
But before she puts her husbands run down Victorian home in Seashell Harbor up on the market she wants her son to have the summer of A lifetime.
While nothing is going as planned, everything starts to change when her husbands best friend, Alex shows up to town, offeeing Kit some help to renovate the house.
The last thing she expected was for Alex to temporarily move in! And he starts bonding with Ollie. Helping her and Ollie slowly but surely to heal.
It scares Kit, but if she wants to show her son how to be strong and move on she has to come face to face with her own fears first!

This story is as if you are watching real people play out their emotions and drama.
The vibes of the summer are paramount for this atmospheric and situational wave of emotions.
Miranda adds wonderful descriptions in with her enchanting characters.
I loved the characters, they were so well built.
I also enjoyed the relationships formed and the bonds the were created.
This was a page-turning novel right from the very first page.
Sea Glass Summer was a whirlwind of a read. It was sweet and will fill your heart with joy.

A touching, moving and uplifting story about what it takes to move forward, motherhood and starting over.
A unexpected summer romance that I can't wait to be out there in the world for other readers to devour!
