This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, HarperCollins UK and by #NetGalley. Opinions expressed are completely my own.

I had a difficult time getting in to this one. I finished it, although reluctantly. I just didn’t do it for me.

I want to thank the publisher and netgalley for the earc. Opinions are my own.

Firstly, I wanted to say I enjoyed the book. I had some predetermined notion of how it should be. It wasnt but it had its charm.
The pacing was good after 20% and I was intrigued about what they do next. Most folks have already given a gist so I won't repeat it.
It was a sweet romance and they had a few good things going which come out in the end.
Lucas was a fairly likeable character . I hope people did not dislike him for being a type A.
Posy in the end was why he relaxed a bit from his spreadsheet mayhem.
The comedy and banter between the two was good. The whole of the headmistress plot was funny.
I loved Tara and kinda liked Seb and hope they get their own book.

Things that could have been better;
The initial setup was really slow. Their teenage interaction should be moved to the middle after we know them now. It was my least favorite chapter.
Posy"s family is pretty mean to her and partly ro Lucas and they don't get a comeuppance. However, they seem to love Posy.
The reason for the wedding is flimsy. I wish there was a more tough reason like Posy's dad being in massive debt that made her desperate and actually trying to get a job and therin lies Posy's character development which was slight.
The closed door romance needed to be open door because intimacy also helps the notion of love..

Sounds like a theises, I know. I liked the book and can't wait to see what the author writes next.

The Reunion by Elizabeth Drummond missed the mark for me. I love a good enemies to lovers tale but this one just didn’t hold my interest. There wasn’t any passion between the couple and the subplots were long and quite boring. I want to thank NetGalley for allowing me to have an advanced copy for this honest review.

DNF at 35% - it's incredibly rare for me to DNF a book and I really hate having to give low ratings, especially to debut novels.

On the plus side the premise of this book was fun and I enjoyed the set up. Posy was very hard to like but I remained kind of vaguely intrigued to see what might happen to her as the book went on and if she would redeem herself.

In the end though I couldn't get that far, the fat-shaming jokes became too much for me
As a plus-size reader recovering from an eating disorder, this was deeply uncomfortable to read and it is ultimately why I stopped. The story just wasn't good enought to make up for it, and we really shouldn't have to have to experience such blatant fatphobia in romantic fiction in 2022.

My thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the e-ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

School reunions! Everyone loves those right? No. Lucas and Posy former head boy and head girl at their posh private reluctantly attend their ten year reunion both on the scrounge for cash, Lucas needs new clients for his finance business and Posy needs to get to an event in Hawaii that could kick start her photography career. It’s a bust but there is a little known and almost forgotten by law in their school charter that states that the school will foot the bill for the wedding between any head boy and girl of the same year. Great! Except Lucas and Posy hate each other.
I really enjoyed this, it was all faintly ridiculous and silly which I am a fan of. I loved Posy’s posh girl Yahs and Lucas’ constant frustration. Their reasons for going through with the wedding get fairly spurious towards the end but by that point it doesn’t really matter we are just along for the ride. Jolly good fun.

Thanks to #NetGalley for providing me with an eARC in return for a fair review

The synopsis of this book gave me very high expectations but the book didn't quite meet up with them. I like to read about 'unlikeable' women, but Posy was a step too far for me to connect with. Self absorbed, spoilt and immature. Lucas had a bit more character about him, but neither character was convincing.

My favourite character was Ms Hardstark!

It was very cute. Lucas and post were so fun and entertaining to read about. I can’t wait enough for this book to be about and recommend everyone!!

This was not for me. I DNF @ 15% and continued to skim until the end. I felt uncomfortable reading- it gave shaming vibes regarding weight, age, etc... The plot felt lacking and had many holes. I also was confused by what some of it was even adding. For example, just describing the carpet several times. Why? What detail is this giving me the reader? It didn't feel relatable at all to me and Posy was not an enjoyable character to read about.

I hate to leave something like this for a debut author, but it was just truly hard to finish and there were definitely parts I just skimmed so I could be done.

Thank you NetGalley and Publishers for providing an ARC. These thoughts are all my own.

I received this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to HarperCollins UK (One More Chapter) for allowing me to read this.

I found deciding on the rating for this book quite difficult to choose. I loved the premise of this book and the writing style was easy to read and enjoyable.

Fake marriage trope and enemies to lovers is write up my street. The character of Posy was starting to see character development towards the end of the book which was nice to see and I liked the character of Lucas, I do wish that we saw more development in his storyline as I think we’d empathise with him more. I felt that the romance was underdeveloped throughout the book and, and their romance felt a bit rushed at the end of the book.

I would still be interested in reading Elizabeth Drummond’s other books in the future but this one missed the mark for me.

I would first like to thank NetGalley & HarperCollins for providing me with an ARC of this title in exchange for an honest review of the material! :)

The premise of this novel initially captured my attention while I was perusing the available titles on NetGalley — I was ecstatic when I was approved for an ARC!

Upon starting the book however, I realized that “The Reunion” just wasn’t for me…

I couldn’t bring myself to root for Posy (the female MC) because I felt as though she was a rather unpleasant character, and I just wasn’t able to connect to her story (unfortunately).

Note: I dislike DNFing books, so I might come back to this one sometime in the future and attempt to give it another go! :)

The Reunion by Elizabeth Drummond is an enemies-to-lovers/marriage of convenience romance that is largely predictable but all together fun to read.

The novel follows Lucas O’Rourke and Posy Edwins, former classmates who constantly fought as Head Boy and Head Girl during their final year at an exclusive English boarding school. On their first day, they find out about a special school rule: if joint prefects get married, Arundel College will pay for the wedding and honeymoon. Twelve years later, neither character has changed much from high school. Lucas is a planner to the extreme, always looking five steps ahead. Posy is the carefree princess, who pursues her whims as she may. Fittingly, their careers are in wealth management and photography, respectively. When Posy’s father, multi-millionaire Jesper Edwins, cuts her off until she shows initiative he approves of, she panics. Having just been invited to a renowned photography festival, she needs a (free) way to Hawaii stat. Lucas, who owns a wealth management business, is not taken seriously by the clients he needs to keep its lights on. Together, they strike a deal to get married for mutual benefits. Posy will use the honeymoon money for plane tickets; Lucas will get introductions and her recommendation to her rich contacts. With the terms set, now they just need to make it down the aisle and collect their prizes.

I cannot say that The Reunion is an original novel that kept surprising me with new situations. The setbacks and obstacles faced by Lucas and Posy were easy to guess within seconds of the subplot being introduced. It did, however, keep me questioning how what would happen next would come about. Drummond managed to alternate the expected and unexpected delightfully in what could go wrong for the two main characters.

Lucas and Posy themselves were fleshed out and interesting. Lucas was admittedly pretty true to the stressed-out Type A character Posy sees him as even in his own POVs until the romance between the two starts to pick up. Once Lucas lets down some walls and listens to Posy, he start to become more dynamic and human; no longer just a trope. Posy comes across as the spoiled princess who cannot even see how good she has it, one who deserves Lucas and the reader’s annoyance. That is until we (the readers and Lucas) start to see more of her background and know why her insecurities present themselves as they do. As great as this is, however, there was no other deep character in The Reunion. Everybody was just there to serve a purpose to Lucas and/or Posy. I wanted to learn more about their friends, about how their relationships to the main characters made them into who they are; both Tara and Fred are said to be deeply influential, but we never see how.

All in all, what I remember and liked the most about The Reunion is its pure energy of a true rom-com. I could easily see it fitting in with the great rom-coms of the 90’s and aughts. You wouldn’t watch Pretty Woman or Never Been Kissed for the most intellectually engaging film you’ve ever seen; do not go into The Reunion expecting the most thought provoking book you’ll ever read.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Normally I'd love this enemies to lovers trope but I just didn't like.the characters, I couldn't relate to them. I'm sorry I just wasn't able to continue to finish it.

Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a disappointing romance novel. Posy acts like an entitled princess and still lives with her parents. Lucas is determined to make his own wealth but looks down on Posy for her attitude and lifestyle. There's barely any sexual tension between them and they spend half the time irrated by each other. Could not get into this novel.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my review!

Posy is the classic spoiled, snobby party girl when we first meet her. Lucas is a self-made man who comes from humble beginnings. Posy and Lucas served as head boy and girl together back in school but never quite saw eye-to-eye. Posy gets cut off by her wealthy father and isn’t quite sure where to turn, but when she stumbles upon Lucas at her school reunion and remembers that the school will pay for a wedding between head students, she develops a harebrained scheme.

Ugh. I really wanted to like this book. The synopsis was fun and I love an enemies to lovers story. But instead this book felt a bit… stilted. There were too many unnecessary details and side plots for me. Henry felt like an odd distraction from the storyline, as well as Posy’s sister’s wedding. Instead of throwing in everything, the author should have worked on developing Posy and Lucas more as characters. To be honest, I didn’t find either of them very likable. I wish there had been more time put in to developing them as characters and their romance instead of a random drunken night that made them “fall in love.” It was an easy read though, and I wasn’t particularly bored even though it was predictable. I’d be interested to see what this author does in the future.

Going into this, I was so excited I'd found a book that had The Proposal vibes since it's one of my favourite movies. Enemies-to-lover and fake dating? Sign me up. Unfortunately, this just wasn't for me.

I'm the kind of person that hates when a book is overly predictable. In romance books, there's a normal level of predictability (for me at least) so I don't take that into account when reviewing. However, in this case, I couldn't disregard that because this whole book was predictable, from Henry to the ending.

Posy was the most insufferable character ever, sort of similar to another ARC I read recently: [book:Stone Broke Heiress|60168063]. She's spoiled, entitled, and unlikeable. Also, she constantly verbally abuses her stepmother who has done nothing and is always nice to her. I don't get it. Although the author tried to give her some sort of a redemption arc, I still hated her. She didn’t have enough character growth to change Lucas’s/the readers' opinion of her. She had a very flat and superficial growth.
Posy's family members were always unnecessarily bullying her, except for the stepmother. I hated the “we only tease you because we love you” excuse the family gave; it was extremely toxic.
Lucas was an okay character, much better than Posy (although that's not very hard). He had some sweet moments.

The romance was supposed to be a slow burn but there was no development between them and I didn't understand why they suddenly were attracted to each other. And then they were suddenly in love after a month of barely seeing each other or talking. Also, the fade to black drunk sex scene was a no. Their romance lacked chemistry (nothing built up for them to feel what they did), although they had good banter at times.

The ending was predictable and boring. Also, I think it would have been much better if we didn't have the headmistress' POV (her whole POv was unnecessary).

Overall, this just did not work for me. Thankfully it was fast paced to read. Also, the incessant bad fat jokes should've been deleted.

I was ok putting this book down for days at a time - was never really super hooked. Due to where I’m at currently I didn’t want to force myself to finish something I wasn’t loving.

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC for an honest review.

I was super excited for this book, it looked like a cute romcom with enemies to lovers and fake dating. Unfortunately I was bored and just genuinely upset with hoe the main character acted. Posy (the main character) acts like an entitled, spoiled, rich girl who has absolutely no morals. She should've grown up and acted like an adult after high school, but no. She's basically an alcoholic, extremely rude, steals, and has no respect for others or sense of responsibility. A LOT of the scenes were honestly just straight up boring.

Thank you to Netgalley and Harper Collins for allowing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really wanted to love this book. The premise sounds so interesting and I’m always down for enemies-to-lover, but The Reunion did not do it for me.

I found the main character kind of unlikable, which makes for a difficult read, and there were many scenes that I felt didn’t have to be in the book in order for it to flow well.

I appreciate given an opportunity to read this book in advance, but it just wasn’t for me.

Two high school rivals, 10+ years later, find themselves needing the others help- in a fake marriage. Ultra wealthy party girl Posy has been cut off by her father until she can prove herself serious, but to do that she needs money for a flight to Hawaii where she might be able to jump start her photography career. Super serious Lucas needs wealthy clients to keep his financial management firm afloat. They realize they have a chance to scam their old prep school into the money for a wedding (and Posy’s flight) and then Posy can introduce Lucas to all her wealthy friends. Only problem? They hate each other.

Now typically a story like this is everything I’d want. Two of my favorite romance tropes are fake-dating and enemies-to-lovers. And it was a light fast fun read, almost getting four stars for me. Where it lost me was that Posy was incredibly unlikeable. She is spoiled and bratty, and while her upbringing leaves that to be expected, she didn’t really have enough character growth to warrant Lucas’s change of heart. She had a very flat and superficial growth, but truly not deep enough or long enough to make it seem real. If you need a very light quick read, this will work. It’s cute and fun, but a bit more character development on Posy’s part certainly could have made it even better.

I received a complimentary copy of this e-book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK for the opportunity to read and review.

This has been the week for ROMANCE!!! I can say, even though this is my first read by the author, I am becoming a fan of her writing style. Especially the way she fluidly portrayed her characters and the build up of their chemistry. I always love myself an enemies-to-lovers read with a challenge! And this book was exactly that! If this trope is something you're interested in or love to read, than I highly recommend this book.
