I loved reading about Ginger! She was funny, nice, and had good character growth. I loved the references to Austin!
Bem levinho pra ler pra criançada.
Se você gosta de treinar o inglês, tambémw é uma ótima pedida.
Achei bem gostosinho de ler e divertido
Ginger is a star, a slightly-sidelined star. This sweet, funny look at the perils of late elementary/early middle grades and the inability to escape a genuine talent, no matter how hard you try, will be a great read for any kid, of any age, in your life.
I read this an immediately handed my Kindle to my twelve year old who tore through it in a matter of hours. She came to me and asked if there are more in the series and if the author has other books. So, Wendi, your midlife books are a delight, but you've got the adolescent crowd demanding more!
Ginger Mancino, Kid Comedian is the middle school story I needed growing up, and I plan to put this story in the hands readers who need a friend like Ginger to encourage them.
The story is fun and affecting, backed by fantastic character arcs.
I would like to thank the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this eBook.
Ginger Mancino, Kid Comedian is a supercute middle-grade book. Just as the title suggests, it is about a 12-year-old Ginger who recently bid goodbye to her young career as a standup comedian and has recently started middle school, which doesn't go well.
This book would be the perfect read for all middle-grade book lovers out there.
This middle grade novel tells the story of a child star comedian who suddenly has to trade in late night comedy clubs for cafeteria food as she heads to middle school. Having grown up in the spotlight and no where near a school, Ginger struggles to find her place in a classroom and other situations where she is not in the spotlight or making people laugh. Readers follow the ups and downs of Ginger's new life in a much more relatable context for middle grade readers to connect with. Additionally, learning to make friends, show the world your true self and trying not to take yourself too seriously are all important lessons for both Ginger and the readers. The only thing I didn't love about this book is that Ginger looks up to famous comedians such as Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Mindy Kahling, who are all fabulous, but may not be familiar for readers in this age range. It made the story really enjoyable for me as an adult who loves those comedians, but I feel like some of those connections will go over the heads of young readers. It's nothing inappropriate or problematic, it just might not have the intended effect. I would recommend this book to parents and teachers of students in the grades 3-6 level. It checks all of my boxes for a great middle grade novel and I will definitely be recommending it to parents and students. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read this book!
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read and review the eARC of this book. It may not match the print version.
Ginger used to be a cute kid comedian. Now, as a 'tween, she's been dropped by her agent and faces her toughest audience yet. Middle school.
This is a sweet middle grades read about friendship and about starting over. Ginger is a relatable protagonist, and her struggles in adjusting to school and to not being the center of attention will be both interesting and familiar. This would be a reasonable book to add to class libraries for readers who want a light, fun book.

🔹Remember how I said that if I couldn’t kill it on this stage, I should hang up my microphone for good? I’m hanging it up.🔹
A book that will definitely have you giggling and smiling the whole time you read the book!! I thoroughly enjoyed the book and had to pop on the authors DMs to appreciate her work of art! The humorous elements are on point and you'll have no chance but to succumb to her charming characters who will make you smile and grin so hard your smile wool probably stick to your face 🤭
Anyway back to my review....
Ginger Mancino is a Kid Comedian and comedy is all she knows and loves but without it she doesn't know who she is or what she will do! Now she has to go to a normal school just like the other kids and people at school don't like her! Is there any other worse think than that for a kid celebrity? I don't think so! She decides to try at the talent show one last time but if it flops she vows to never get on stage EVER!
Her friend Daisy is such a supportive character and I love their friendship dynamics.
Aanya is another favorite character she's such a sweet little butterfly that Daisy rescues and she gets included in their group!
Finally you have a great guy named Chance and that's all I'm saying because if I start I can't stop talking about him!!
A very well written book that will have you addicted from the first page! You might think this is just a middle grade romcom but this book is so much more of a treasure trove, dig-deep-to-get-lost-in-its-treasure kinda book! The plot was relevant and brilliantly executed, the word building was amazing and the writing style is easy to tap into Ginger's world! Overall a book I would definitely re read soon!
Fans of I Funny and Stand Up, Yumi Chung will love Ginger Mancino, Kid Comedian.
😂
Ginger is a twelve-year-old comedian (a good one) who has toured the country and performed on famous stages until one day it all stops. Now Ginger is forced into the world of public school—middle school to be exact—and she’s struggling. An accidental misstep has Ginger labeled a social pariah until she finds a new friend in Daisy and confidence skills she needs to continue to navigate junior high. A story of growth, change and empathy, this is for anyone who struggled during their middle school years.
😂
This was such a refreshing MG book to read! I laughed, I teared up—I can see this novel being in any upper elementary/middle school classroom and library. Grab your copy on 6.21. Thank you to the author & @bookbarpress for an ARC.
CW: bullying, mental health
It was a cute and funny story, with a very light tone, typical of a clumsy 12-year-old.
At first, I felt sorry for Ginger, because she had to deal with concerns that weren't necessary for a child. Like her career, or the end of it, the way adults, even strangers, were talking about her in unpleasant ways and how her life changed overnight.
She had to go back to school, get used to a whole new routine and deal with new classmates, without even having had contact with children her age for a long time. But she dealt with everything as best she could and moved on.
Her new friends, Daisy, Chance and Aanya, made the story and Ginger's life more happy. It was very cute how they supported her and made her a better person.
I loved how Ginger's relationship with her mother was explored in such an unusual way, it definitely made the book more interesting. Also, the random monologues Ginger gives throughout the book were very funny.
Overall, it was a nice and quick read.
The thing that takes my interest in this book is the mystery aspect of it and it is fun. But, as an adult who read this, I can tell what's exactly going on. It's like, if you pay attention to the scenes, you can see the hints are there. As for children, maybe not many of them will realize it or if they do, they will get confused throughout the story because I think the author doing a great job to redirect the readers suspect.
Now, the main character, Ginger Mancino. I like her personality but I don't like her language, especially the way she talks to adults. I understand that she just tries to be funny, like making a joke, and it's okay if she does it with her friends, but if she directs it to adults, I think it's kind of impolite.
This was such a fun read! This book is about 12 year old Ginger, a kid comedian whose career comes to a sudden stop and must now navigate middle school. Ginger was a very likable and quirky character, and her new friends and classmates were also engaging characters. I loved the message of friendship being more important than fame, and the friendship between Daisy and Ginger. Ginger has a lot of spunk and her POV on navigating the awkwardness of middle school was hilarious.
Thank you to NetGalley for the digital ARC and the opportunity to share my opinions on the book!
This book was a quick and accessible read that will appeal to kids, especially in the grades 4-6 range. The main character is both charming and real. She makes mistakes and tells bad jokes and doesn't know when maybe it's time to give the jokes a rest, but she learns and grows in ways that kids will relate to. I enjoyed the mentions of real comedians throughout as well. A cute book, that I will be recommending to my library as well as to my teacher friends who are always looking for more books to introduce to their students.
This sweet, amusing story about dealing with change and navigating new experiences would be a great read for children aged 8+ The short chapters and relatable story make this a great option for developing readers who don't quite fit in with the crowd and enjoy books about friendships with happy endings! With core messages like being yourself is what's most important and friendship is more valuable than fame I would happily recommend putting a copy of this in every teachers classroom library!
Thank you to NetGalley.co.uk and BookBar Press for the free eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
What a delight! The book I would have loved to read as late elementary middle school reader! Ginger is a great character and Wendi Aarons has captured so well the life of a 12 year old girl, middle school awkwardness and the growing pains of learning how to be a friend, find belonging and navigate adolescent life. It’s a story that will land for any young reader - I have pre ordered 10 to give kids in mind (and have a copy myself!) and can’t wait for another Ginger installment.
Ginger Mancino, Kid Comedian by Wendi Aarons is a cute book about a girl named Ginger. I read the book with my 9-year old and he loved it. I would highly recommend it for classrooms, libraries, and schools. Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Ginger Mancino, Kid Comedian, is a fun read. The story comes with great lessons about friendship. This book shows Ginger's character development.
This book is suitable for middle-aged kids. They will enjoy the quirks of Ginger and their second leads.
What’s worse that finding out that you are awkward, and your comedy act is no longer cute?
Finding out that you are awkward, your act is no longer cute, and landing in a middle new school as a result.
Twelve-year-old kid comedian Ginger Mancino navigates her new life as a 7th-grade student with courage and humor. Tween readers will relate to her struggles to fit in and make friends.
I’d recommend this book to any reader who is in, or who has survived, middle school.
Thank you to NetGalley and BookBar Press for the advance copy.
This was a wonderful book around Ginger, a child comedian, who’s career comes to an abrupt halt. We watch her character growth as she starts to struggle with life and what’s she’s supposed to do now, although with the challenges of being a well-known/semi-famous child star. What happens next is an incredible story about not giving up when times are hard, and you’re unsure of what to do next.
Kids young and old will love this book! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my e-copy.
