Description

MIDDLE SCHOOL IS NO LAUGHING MATTER!

At 12 years old, professional comedian Ginger Mancino has drawn laughs on stages across the country and even performed on the most popular late night comedy show. But when she’s forced to retire from comedy and live a regular life for the first time, she discovers her toughest audience yet: middle school.

After a big misstep, Ginger goes from being a school nobody to a social outcast overnight. But a new BFF and a series of mystery texts (possibly from her comedy idols!) give her the confidence to use her humor in new ways and stand up for herself. Things are finally looking up when Ginger is faced with the most difficult decision of her life, and the wrong choice just might cost her the first real friend she’s ever had.

—Jenny Lawson, author of #1 New York Times bestsellers Furiously Happy and Let’s Pretend This Never Happened

“I sure could have used a book like Kid Comedian when I was a pre-teen. Ginger Mancino is funny and real, and the timelessness of her emotions makes them relatable to anyone who has ever attended middle school. While Ginger is smart, funny and curious, sometimes things do not go her way. Reading along as she discovers the importance of developing positive relationships, and the strength to persist after making mistakes offers readers the chance to emerge a little better, a little wiser. Wendi Aarons writes with respect for young readers and a deep understanding that we fumble and triumph as we discover ourselves.”
