Her Romeo is a mafia-style dark romance that feels like Romeo and Juliet in the modern world.

While I love mafia romance books, this book, unfortunately, fell short for me.

It felt too fast-paced, and I could hardly keep up. While I love action, I have to be able to connect to the characters, and I was having a difficult time doing so with everything happening in between.

I'm guessing there will be more books in the series as this is stated as book one and ended with a cliffhanger.

I did love the childhood friends-to enemies-to-lovers trope and want to see more from Joseph and Sloane's romance. It just didn't feel that romantic. Half the time, I felt like Joseph didn't want to be around her until he did, and the same goes for Sloane.

If there are more books in the series, I will read them as I am eager to figure out what happens to these main characters.

Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher, for an e-arc copy in exchange for my honest review.

You know those books that you have to put down a few minutes to catch your breath or to make last longer?! Yep, this is definitely one of those books! I loved it from the first word until… THE CLIFFHANGER! I want more… scratch that I need more of Sloane and Joseph! It was fast paced and I couldn’t put it down, except to catch my breath. Definitely recommend!

A fast-paced modern style Romeo and Juliet story, Her Romeo is a forbidden romance between Sloane and Joseph who are the heirs of rival mafia families. It was a decent read, though at times it felt very repetitive and didn't really add to the story. It did set up a nice foundation for the next book though. I would prefer to see longer chapters in the next book.

What the heck? Joseph kidnapped Sloane and took her to Italy. Now she is held prisoner to a feared mafia boss. I kept expecting violence and blood bath. Joseph's father is playing games and using Joseph and Sloane as pawns. The story ended without any resolution.

A read that captured me from start to finish, I really enjoyed Her Romeo. Exactly what I needed and such a good pace - recommend!

Sloane is daughter to the Irish mob boss and now works for the right side of the law as a prosecuting attorney. Joseph is eldest son to the Italian mob boss and is working towards taking his father's job. They use to be best friends in school. Now she is trying to put him in jail. He kidnaps her under his father's orders. They succumb to their connection of the past and become lovers again. Then the story ends with a cliff hanger. I really tried to enjoy the story and did enjoy parts but I had a hard time following and I do not care for when a story does not finish.

Received this copy from Netgalley for my honest revivew.

Loved reading the engaging and exciting romance story. When Joseph Rossi is told to kidnap Sloane, his first love, he goes through with it, but when her life is in danger, he realizes he can't leave her in the enemy's clutches. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a riveting must read love story. Can't wait to read the next book in the series!
I just reviewed Her Romeo (a Dark Mafia Romance) by Quinn Marlowe. #HerRomeoaDarkMafiaRomance #NetGalley

This book is advertised as a dark mafia romance. Although there is violence, I probably wouldn’t call it dark. Also there wasn’t much romance?

The thing that drew me to this book was the fact that it’s a Lawyer x Mafia rival (also friends to enemies to lovers). Although the initial appeal of prosecuting ex best friend and rival is pretty much gone when the main plot kicks in which I’m not sure I liked.

Also some of the things that happen in this do not make sense to me. However, this book does continue into the next in the series ‘Her Hero’ so it could just be that things make more sense in the next book.

I did really like the writing style and action scenes were written very well. There was good pacing leading up to the plot. The main characters were likeable but maybe not what I expected since it is a mafia book.

All in all, it was a decent read and was quick to get through. It was enough to want me to carry on reading but maybe not enough to want to read the next book.

*some minor grammatical errors but I’m not sure how they slipped past the editor*

I did not read the prequel to this book, but was easily able to follow along. I love mafia romance and especially rival family mafia romance. Sloane was the perfect heroine - beautiful, strong, takes her life in her own hands, smart and doesn't give in easily. Joseph was the perfect hero - handsome, tough, stubborn, soft-hearted, and protective. I enjoyed the push and pull of their relationship and that they didn't just fall into bed right away. The only part I struggled with was how Joseph has had no contact with his father since being in Italy and how the fight on the airplane was all but forgotten once they landed. I have a lot of unanswered questions, so I look forward to the next book for answers. Overall, an enjoyable read and I can't wait to read what happens next.

Not only was the spice of it good, but the plot surrounding it made it easy to invest in and root for characters. This book was a second chance, mafia romance but was able to balance the two without being more of one or the other. The FMC was strong and powerful and was able to butt heads with the love interest with both wit and strength. I cannot wait for book 2!

Can one be best friends when your families are enemies? Sometimes but more often than not, it can have dire consequences. Such is the story of Joseph and Sloane as teenagers. Italian mafia versus the Irish mob. Now all grown up, it’s different as we all know when you become an adult. While the attraction is still there there seems to be a little problem. Joseph has kidnapped Sloane. Sloane is more mad than terrified until she realizes where she is.
This is a great story and I love Sloane becoming independent from her dad as an adult and wanting to break free from the control the mob has. I can’t wait to see what Quinn has in store for these two and if they can make it out with their lives.

Having loved the prequel I couldn't wait to read this. I was a little concerned that the themes would be too dark for my taste but it was just right. Joseph is there to protect Sloane when it counts even though it's because of him that she's in so much trouble. Sloane is a fantastic character. She can hold her own in a fight and stand up for herself. I loved the driving scene where she was trying to get home to check on her parents. Her fearlessness really shone through.
The sparks between Sloane and Joseph are just as intense as I remembered. A lot of their interactions were sweet when they weren't sniping at one another. Joseph really is a softie at heart where Sloane is concerned and I loved that about him. She even wins round his men as well and they look out for her too when Joseph isn't there. It will be interesting to see her relationship develop with his people as the series progresses.
I'm looking forward to reading the rest of this thrilling and action-packed series.

Mafia, kidnapping rivals daughter, childhood friends to enemies to lovers.

There is a prequel novella for this that I read prior to this. You don’t have to read it to understand this book, they just refer to it a little bit.

Sloane is the daughter of an Irish monster. She also happens to be Assistant attorney general for New York and she’s arguing a case against her childhood best friend (and the son her her fathers rival).

Joseph is Italian mafia. He is desperately in love with Sloane, but refuses to acknowledge that he is.

I love the kidnapping trope.

This is the first book in the series! It’s a nice short (under 200 pages) read.

I had not read the prequel so may that was part of the problem. This is also a "new to me author. " I read mainly mafia so I feel like I know a good story when I read it. This was simply put not what I would consider Dark, it was actually pretty tame.
I found Sloane and Joseph to be intriguing but that was not enough to make me love this story. I liked it and will most likely want to know what happens next to our leads.

Sloan Brennan thought she was on the top of the world as a prosecutor. She felt that she had escaped the mafia world of her family. Joseph was her best friend from childhood. They loved each other but Joseph was beaten within an inch of his life several years ago for being with her as her father was his father's enemy. After Sloan was in court to prosecute Joseph, she was captured by his family and sent off to Italy in a private plane, Joseph's father had arranged for Sloan to be kept by the cruelest of all the mafia bosses. Joseph stayed in Italy with her to guard her safety. He finds that his father had changed the terms of the deal. This book is part of a series, so this book does not end until the succeeding book. This book contains violence and sexual activity,

I almost wish this had been a part of the second book. I feel like the backstory was truly drawn out, which just could have been cut down. The overall danger of them in Italy was too quick, I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more with more action. I’ll be reading the next, just for curiosity of who the new buyer is!

This book is like a modern Romeo and Juliet ! Irish gang vs Italian mafia ! With your star crossed lovers solone and Joesph. There is history between this old best friend but we see a growing forbidden love. This book is a serious page turner. From the start you are drawn in to a whole lot of drama and action. Reading the first few chapters I was getting a mr and mrs smith kind of vibes! Guns, rocket lunches the whole lot very dramatic. This is one of the first romance stories like this I’ve read and boy did Quinn Marlowe come through. I could not recommend this book enough to all my fellow bookies!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC! This was definitely a dark romance with a twist on Romeo and Juliet. I enjoyed the characters. I feel like it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger and can't wait to see where the author takes the story!

This had the potential to be a very good mafia romance, but it was not perfect for me. But I did enjoy the authors writing and will read more by her

I need to know what happens to Sloane and Joseph next. I love that Sloane doesn’t take crap from anyone. I think that they would be an amazing couple. It sucks that their families are enemies. I need more.
