Description
She's my best friend from childhood. The girl I thought I loved once. And the woman who just threatened to put me in jail, courtesy of the case she's prosecuting in court. She's also now my prisoner.
Sloane Brennan thought she was on top of the world. Hell, she was on top of the world. But she's also the daughter of my father's enemy, and when my father decides to kidnap her and use her as leverage against her own father, then puts me in charge of watching over her...
Let's just say it puts ideas in my head. Bad, bad ideas. Ideas that I've been fantasizing about for years.
After all, I'm supposed to be taking care of her while she's under the Rossi umbrella, right? And no one actually defined what that means. Right?
When the plan goes awry, though, and it becomes apparent that Sloane's life is actually in danger and my feelings run a whole lot deeper than I realized, I have to recalculate my actions, and decide whether my loyalty is to the family... or the girl I've always loved.
*Her Romeo is the second book of three in Sloane and Joseph's story, and is a dark mafia romance and includes violence and mature sexual themes. If you’re triggered by guns, sex, rape, or murder, this isn’t the series for you.

A great read with good characters. I liked the cover. 4*.
Awesome story and characters. Kept my interest throughout. Fast paced entertaining read that I definitely recommend.
A great story that moves fast with plenty of twists and turns to the plot to keep you "turning the page" to read more. The two main characters, Joseph and Sloane, are so well laid out that you can clearly see them in your mind as you read the story. Great start to the series. I can't wait for Book 2 to see what happens next.
A modern twist to Romeo and Juliette although in this version they fluctuate between love and hate. Toss in the added suspense of being from opposing mafia families, a kidnapping and a violent double cross and you have a toxic situation to enhance those strong emotions of love and hate. Toss in some bedroom aerobics and you have a fun romance to read in a few hours. It is a short story or novella, and it does end on a major cliffhanger so be prepared for that. It almost feels like the author is writing a book, but publishing in sections rather than the full book. All in all, I'm hooked now and can't wait to see how it wraps up in the next book!
This is a mafia romance it’s one I’ve been meaning to get round to for a while and it’s also a new author for me pleased to say I do enjoy this one a whole lot.
It was so well written, phenomenal characters, and the plot was amazing; so captivating and unique, definitely not what I was expecting when I read the blurb. I really couldn't put the book down (have a crick in my neck from sitting so long but it was totally worth it). The chemistry and sexual tension between them was just so hot and intense!
Omg what a book fantastic read, if you love dark romance this is for you, be warned there are triggers in this book so please read the blurb first if you have triggers, but oh the story line was just brilliant loved it so much
Her Romeo is a fast paced story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. It didn't feel like a book because the whole time I was reading it, it was playing out like a movie inside my head. The plot was so good I basically flew through this book in one sitting. I will say that it did have spice in it enough to keep you reading. I'm so invested to these characters that I'm already thinking of purchasing the new book w continue the story.
I need to know what happens to Sloane and Joseph next. I love that Sloane doesn’t take crap from anyone. I think that they would be an amazing couple. It sucks that their families are enemies. I need more.
I loved this book more than I thought i would Romeo and Juliet retelling says usually hit or miss for me but this one wow!
Romeo and Juliet with a modern twist with a splash of mafia romance.
The chemistry between Joseph and Sloane is immeasurable and just flows so well throughout the book. The amount of spice throughout the pages is perfect.
It is the perfect book for anyone who usually enjoys slow burn; Mafia romance and second chance romance with the added mystery and intrigue.
This book is like a modern Romeo and Juliet ! Irish gang vs Italian mafia ! With your star crossed lovers solone and Joesph. There is history between this old best friend but we see a growing forbidden love. This book is a serious page turner. From the start you are drawn in to a whole lot of drama and action. Reading the first few chapters I was getting a mr and mrs smith kind of vibes! Guns, rocket lunches the whole lot very dramatic. This is one of the first romance stories like this I’ve read and boy did Quinn Marlowe come through. I could not recommend this book enough to all my fellow bookies!
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC! This was definitely a dark romance with a twist on Romeo and Juliet. I enjoyed the characters. I feel like it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger and can't wait to see where the author takes the story!
Thank you NetGalley for the eARC. I didn't get to read the prequel but I wish I had. This book was so good that when i got to the end i kept going looking for more story pages. I thought maybe they did some from me. I cannot wait for the next installment. Two kids from warring mafia families who are secretly in love with each other. One has to save the other but I almost feel like they will save each other.
Mafia, kidnapping rivals daughter, childhood friends to enemies to lovers.
There is a prequel novella for this that I read prior to this. You don’t have to read it to understand this book, they just refer to it a little bit.
Sloane is the daughter of an Irish monster. She also happens to be Assistant attorney general for New York and she’s arguing a case against her childhood best friend (and the son her her fathers rival).
Joseph is Italian mafia. He is desperately in love with Sloane, but refuses to acknowledge that he is.
I love the kidnapping trope.
This is the first book in the series! It’s a nice short (under 200 pages) read.
Can one be best friends when your families are enemies? Sometimes but more often than not, it can have dire consequences. Such is the story of Joseph and Sloane as teenagers. Italian mafia versus the Irish mob. Now all grown up, it’s different as we all know when you become an adult. While the attraction is still there there seems to be a little problem. Joseph has kidnapped Sloane. Sloane is more mad than terrified until she realizes where she is.
This is a great story and I love Sloane becoming independent from her dad as an adult and wanting to break free from the control the mob has. I can’t wait to see what Quinn has in store for these two and if they can make it out with their lives.
Having loved the prequel I couldn't wait to read this. I was a little concerned that the themes would be too dark for my taste but it was just right. Joseph is there to protect Sloane when it counts even though it's because of him that she's in so much trouble. Sloane is a fantastic character. She can hold her own in a fight and stand up for herself. I loved the driving scene where she was trying to get home to check on her parents. Her fearlessness really shone through.
The sparks between Sloane and Joseph are just as intense as I remembered. A lot of their interactions were sweet when they weren't sniping at one another. Joseph really is a softie at heart where Sloane is concerned and I loved that about him. She even wins round his men as well and they look out for her too when Joseph isn't there. It will be interesting to see her relationship develop with his people as the series progresses.
I'm looking forward to reading the rest of this thrilling and action-packed series.
I did not read the prequel to this book, but was easily able to follow along. I love mafia romance and especially rival family mafia romance. Sloane was the perfect heroine - beautiful, strong, takes her life in her own hands, smart and doesn't give in easily. Joseph was the perfect hero - handsome, tough, stubborn, soft-hearted, and protective. I enjoyed the push and pull of their relationship and that they didn't just fall into bed right away. The only part I struggled with was how Joseph has had no contact with his father since being in Italy and how the fight on the airplane was all but forgotten once they landed. I have a lot of unanswered questions, so I look forward to the next book for answers. Overall, an enjoyable read and I can't wait to read what happens next.
Not only was the spice of it good, but the plot surrounding it made it easy to invest in and root for characters. This book was a second chance, mafia romance but was able to balance the two without being more of one or the other. The FMC was strong and powerful and was able to butt heads with the love interest with both wit and strength. I cannot wait for book 2!
Loved reading the engaging and exciting romance story. When Joseph Rossi is told to kidnap Sloane, his first love, he goes through with it, but when her life is in danger, he realizes he can't leave her in the enemy's clutches. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a riveting must read love story. Can't wait to read the next book in the series!

A read that captured me from start to finish, I really enjoyed Her Romeo. Exactly what I needed and such a good pace - recommend!
You know those books that you have to put down a few minutes to catch your breath or to make last longer?! Yep, this is definitely one of those books! I loved it from the first word until… THE CLIFFHANGER! I want more… scratch that I need more of Sloane and Joseph! It was fast paced and I couldn’t put it down, except to catch my breath. Definitely recommend!
This book starts with Sloane working for the D.A.’s and bringing a case against her former friend Joseph who also is the enemy of her father. When she decides to go back to Brooklyn to see her father because of his being sick. Joseph’s father decides to kidnap her and send her and Joseph to Italy where he hopes that the case will die off. While they’re in Italy the two find the passion that they once had for each other only to discover that they are to be killed. The end of the book must wait for the next one again.
I love the Romeo and Juliet -esk of this story. I absolutely adore mafia romances, which is the main reason I decided to review this story. It was a bit of a slow burn which isn't my favorite thing. But the writing of this story was fantastic.
Thank you to netgalley for sending me an ARC in exchange for a honest review.
I love a mafia romance. I enjoyed reading sloan and Josephs story,
This is a Romeo and Juliet retelling with a hint of mafia and modern world setting.
I liked Quinns writing style and this book was right up my alley.

I highly recommend picking this one up!
Another fantastic romance book. I would recommend to family and friends. The flow of the books was consistant and easy to follow
Can we talk about that cover? Absolutely beautiful, and it’s what drew me to this book. The story didn’t disappoint. It’s a very dark mafia romance, so make sure you pay attention to the warning at the end of the blurb. Sloane and Joseph are amazing characters, and the heat between them just radiates off the page. The slow burn had me screaming at the page, just wanting them to give in. Marlowe does an amazing job of bringing the story to life, and drawing you in before you know what’s happening. If you want a dark, sexy, tantalizing read that’ll heat you up, then grab this one.
