HOLY CRAP!! My mind is completely fried at the moment! This book was CRAZY good and completely not what I expected. When I read all of the good reviews and saw that this was akin to The Silent Patient, I knew that I had to jump on the chance to read this asap! All I have right now is WOW! Let me start by saying that this is NOT The Silent Patient. The only similarities are the doctor/patient relationship and secrets. Lots and lots of secrets! It was a quick read and very fast paced. This book was brilliantly written with mind blowing WTF moments. You'll think that you have it all figured out but guess again!!
Other People's Lives was a clever, psychological thriller that will reel you in from the beginning and will not let you go! I was completely obsessed with this book! The ending was spectacular but wrapped up a little too nicely. One of the characters owes me an explanation!!! This is why I only gave 4 stars. I needed just a little bit more. But if you are a psychological thriller fan, you definitely have to read this book. I highly recommend it!!
Thank you to the author, BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for allowing me to preview this eARC in exchange for my review.
Wow what an amazing book . Very much a quick read but still contained all the excitement with the twists and turns. Definitely didn’t expect the ending . I highly recommend this it’s worth a read . 5 stars from me
Andrew Thacker is her therapist, there to help her recover from her husband missing from her life. Instead he begins to obsess over her. Or is he?
Sophie thinks she sees someone watching her. Is it her husband who she lost? A stranger? Someone she knows? She is looking for answers to help her determine if it is all in her mind or anxiety over what happened with her husband, Jack.
We get pieces of Sophie’s relationship with Jack through a series of letters interspersed in the novel. We learn he travels for work and his last assignment was one that Sophie wasn’t a fan of and that included a woman he had a fling with. Something happened to Jack with his last journey, but why does it haunt Sophie in the manner it does - as more than just losing her husband?
Two-thirds of the way through the book, you develop more questions than answers, but that builds us up to the climax of the story. A bombshell is dropped in one of the therapy sessions, and the story escalates to a dramatic conclusion. Thriller lovers will enjoy this quick read that is paced in a way that could leaves gaps with the wrong hands writing it. instead, all the pieces of the puzzle come together in the end and leave you satisfied. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really tried to like this book more, but it just dragged for me. I caught on to the "hook" pretty fast....and then it just seemed to drag for me. The story is good, maybe I'm just used to more fast paced writing styles.
Thanks to netgalley, the publisher and the author for the chance to read this advanced copy.
This was going all over one of the facebook groups I follow. I havent read anything from this author but this was amazing!
Other People's Lives is a therapist/patient story. The patient, Sophie Portman, seeks the help of a therapist, Andrew Thacker, after losing her husband. She believes someone is following her. Is it real? Is it all in her head? You really don't know until the very end! The majority of the book is told by the mysterious narrator, and Sophie's POV through letters to her missing husband.
The first 60% of the book was a slow build. J.E. Rowney brilliantly gives you little crumbs of the story for you to piece together. You're left with a flurry of theories. One theory had me thinking, "Could it be....?" and the very next page, that theory was shot down like she could actually read my mind. Then suddenly you are side swiped with a twist that will really make your head spin. When I say I FLEWWW through the last 40% of the book. I just had to see how it all wrapped up. I just finished the last page. And I still have questions. Questions that I dare not speak due to spoilers. But after you've read it. Message me. Let's chat.
If you're into psychological thrillers, this one is for you. This is one I'd absolutely reread now that I know the twist. I'm sure reading it the second time will have an entirely different feel. Excellent read.
A crazy thriller! A slow, confusing start, but a bang-up, satisfying ending. Really unlikeable characters tell a tale of infidelity, jealousy, and abandonment. What’re is Sophie husband? Who is following her? IS anyone following her?
'𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆'𝒔 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒉𝒖𝒎𝒂𝒏 𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒆. 𝑨𝒍𝒍 𝒘𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆'𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒔.'
Nearly seven months after her husband has been missing, Sophie Portman believes she is losing her mind. She senses somebody watching her, just that she doesn't have any proof of it. When the cops too dismiss her concerns, she approaches Dr. Thacker, a psychiatrist, to get help for her paranoia. And yet that niggling feeling persists. Is she being delusional or is someone really stalking Sophie Portman?
For the most part, this is a slow-paced novel and it is only after 65% that the plot twists set in; they just catch you off-guard. Though much of the plot consists of Sophie's ramblings to Jack via her letters and to her psychiatrist during her therapy sessions, the writing has an arresting quality to it that makes you want to unravel all the secrets that the characters seem to be hiding. Add to this the short length of the story, and you are guaranteed to finish it in a few hours time.
Overall, a compelling read with an unexpected ending. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing a digital copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review! This thriller is set to be published at the end of April!
This is your typical thriller with all the right ingredients- mysterious atmosphere, unreliable characters, and plot twists. I rated this book at 2.5 stars. Unfortunately, I did not jive with this story like I thought I would. I found the writing flat, one dimensional and there was a lot of "telling" rather than "showing" within the story. There were a few points that I wanted to give up but I powered through. The twists were entertaining but fell short because of the writing style. It was still an entertaining read but not enough to leave an impact with me.
I’m sorry that this book just wasn’t for me. I found it hard going and very confusing in parts.
Many thanks to netgalley and J.E. Rowney for the advanced copy of this book. I agreed to give my unbiased opinion voluntarily.
So addictive, so brilliant.
This book was so engrossing that I basically read it in one sitting, resenting anyone who interrupted me for any reason.
Request it, read it, love it.
The writing is amongst the most clever I've read in ages, expertly leading the reader to arrive at conclusions that then slap them across the face. I loved it.
Thank you to the publisher for gifting me a copy, it is my pleasure to write an honest review.
This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, BooksGoSocial and by #NetGalley. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
A well written, exciting, fast-paced thriller.
I enjoyed this book and the characters a lot. I thought the author did a good job setting up the plot and the story line. The twist made my head explode and I was in shock!!
Listen carefully. Watch closely. Trust nobody. Everything is not as it seems.
The author spins a web of lies deceit, mystery, suspense and betrayal that keeps you intrigued throughout the story...then
BAM!! You are blindsided by the ending!
Word play was fantastic!!
Thank you Netgalley and the author for a fabulous digital copy. Read and reviewed voluntarily and the opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
Wow! The ending of this story was like fireworks. It came out of nowhere and it was beautiful. I have to say the plot was very slow to unveil. At times I did want to give up reading. There is obviously something wrong with both Sophie and her therapist. Sophie's therapy sessions seem to go round and round and head to nowhere. Whereas the therapist has developed a weird obsession with Sophie. However slow the plot may be, stick with it because the ending is worth it.
Thank you to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for letting me read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
✨ BOOK REVIEW ✨
HELP ME THIS BOOK HAS ME SHOOK.
THE OTHER PEOPLE’S LIVES will be published April 22.
The TLDR plot: Sophie Portman lost her husband. Now is she losing her mind? She sees Dr. Andrew Thacker and as the sessions progress, in true thriller fashion, when the truth starts coming out SHIT GOES DOWN.
Oh my God. Oh my God. I just CANNOT. I was so intrigued with the story and devoured 75% of it in less than a day. I thought I had everything figured out but then the twist happened and I was like 👁👄👁
I literally cannot say too much about this book because it’ll be spoiled but LEMME TELL YOU, THIS BOOK SHOULD NOT BE MISSED.
Preorder it. Beg your library for it. Stalk Audible for it. Just get it somehow. I promise, it’s 200% worth it.

This is a short, super-fast easy read with Silent Patient vibes. I guess it’s more of a short story. At first, I thought ehhhh it’s going to mimic to close to the Silent Patient (which I loved) and I thought I wasn’t going to like it. But then it took off in a totally different direction. It’s split between several points of view - Sophie’s letters to her missing husband, the Psychiatrist who is obsessed with Sophie, and Nick (you’ll figure it out). I have to admit I got confused a couple of times and had to go back and re-read a few sections. Also, what happened to the psychiatrist? Did I miss what happened to him? Overall, I enjoyed the plot and the twists and all the things I didn’t see coming. But at the same time, I felt the story should have been developed more to pack a more powerful punch in the end.
Thanks to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for allowing me this sneak peek! Publication date is April 22, 2022.
WOW! I read this book in under 3 hours over the weekend and I am still thinking about it! Nothing is what is seems in this book! NOTHING! I was beyond floored with the twist at the end! What a mind F@*#!! This author is brilliant for pulling off what she did!
I don’t want to give too much away so I am just going to post the synopsis:
THE SILENT PATIENT MEETS GONE GIRL
“Let me ask you. Are you worried that someone is watching you, or are you worried that you think someone is watching you?”
Sophie Portman has lost her husband, and she thinks she may be losing her mind.
She seeks the help of psychiatrist Andrew Thacker, but as she starts to open up, the truth begins to unravel and nothing is quite as it seems.
This is a short read that will leave you with your head spinning!
Thank you to the author and NetGalley for my e-ARC.
First, I want to thank JE Rowney, BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for this book so I can bring you this review.
WOW!! JE Rowney has found her niche in writing Psychological Thrillers! Other People’s Lives was really twisted!! It is unlike any book she has ever written and one of her best. You definitely need to put this on your TBR list!
JE Rowney starts off Other People’s Lives in such a unique way. We get to read a letter from Sophie to her missing husband Jack. It was one of the many things that hooked me into the book. Throughout the book we see other letters she writes to him.
I was seriously at the edge of my seat as I needed to know the big secret of what actually happened to Jack. As the story unfolded I was left speechless at the twists and turns!
Mental Health is a huge topic that is so incredibly important in JE Rowney’s Other People’s Lives. I love how she brings awareness to many specific Mental Health Issues.
Sophie's husband Jack has been missing for months. To help cope, she starts seeing Dr. Thacker. This story goes back and forth between letters Sophie is writing to her missing husband and her sessions with Dr. Thacker through his point of view.
I really wanted to like this book. I was confused from the first page to the last page. I kept feeling like I must have missed a chapter that described everything. The ending left me with more questions than answers. This book does have plenty of twists that will keep you on your toes.
