As this was my first novel by this author I had no expectations. I love the dual perspectives and the way it drip feeds you clues, this was a great psychological thriller. I finished this really quickly as I was desperate to know the truth and their motives. I think the only downside is that the ending was a little abrupt and there was definately scope for more detail. I will definately read more J E Rowney books though.

"Listen carefully...watch closely...trust nobody" Just the tagline alone had me hooked. This was an amazing psychological thriller that I read in one day! Highly recommend

First impression after putting the book down...

Nope. No no no no no nooo!!! 🙉

Sophie Portman sees Dr. Thacker a psychiatrist. Sophia's going through a tremendous loss after her husband Jack went missing during a geological mission near the Arctic circle. She never wanted him to go but this has been his dream. Sophie also believes she's being stalked, she feels someone is watching her.

Yes, this is very clever. You got me, Ms. Rowney! I didn't catch it until the moment you want to give it away. The first reveal had me flipping back to the earlier chapters again. And to be quite honest, I knew in advance from the cover to listen carefully and watch closely. Obviously, I didn't do a good job at it.

This was a good psych thriller and very suspenseful after the second half. The first part was a bit repetitive. Sophie just irritates me so much that I thought Jack dodge a bullet missing at the north pole!

What the EF is that ending though? OMG it doesn't make any sense! Do I have to repeat my first impression? 😤 Overall, I thought it was pretty good, especially the shock value!

Thank you BooksGoSocial and Netgalley for this DRC.

Other People’s Lives by J.E. Rowney is a psychological thriller.

First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Land of Oz LLC and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

My Synopsis:   (No major reveals, but if concerned, skip to My Opinions)
Seven months ago, Sophie Portman's husband Jack disappeared.   He is a geologist, and has often travelled for his work, but this time it's different.  Sophie is a teacher, but hasn't been able to go back to work.   She thinks she may be going crazy.  She is sure someone is watching her.  The police have found no evidence of this, so she decides to see a psychiatrist.

Dr. Andrew Thacker knows Sophie is not telling the whole story, but is struggling to get her to open up.

My Opinions:
Well, this was one twisted and fun read.  I didn't trust anybody!  This may have started out a little slow, but even then I was being entertained.  It sure changed about 60% in....when I realized the author had screwed with my head.  It was so much fun.

The book is really about obsession, and possessiveness.

I loved Sophie, and even though I felt she was hiding something right from the beginning, I could really feel her anxiety and confusion.

The writing was good, and needless to say the plot twisted a couple of times.  I almost want to read it again to see if I had missed some clues.

Even with the slow start, this was a really fast read.  I absolutely loved it!

Wow! Such a quick and easy read. There were many twists and while I saw some coming, it didn't lessen the enjoyment of this at all. With the believable characters and a great plot, I enjoyed this one.

"Let me ask you. Are you worried that someone is watching you, or are you worried that you think someone is watching you?"

Sophie has lost her husband or missing him for last 7 months and now she thinks that she may be losing her mind. She seeks the help of psychiatrist Andrew, but as she starts to open up, the truth begins to unravel and nothing is quite as it seems.

Sophie is a great protagonist and she had me totally. Her letters to her husband are an inspired tool that the author uses to give us little snippets of information, what happened to Sophie's husband? why she feels so awful? why she feels like she's unraveling?

Reading this book will feel that you are attending the therapy sessions and at times you feel uncomfortable. One minute I thought Andrew was really caring and the next minute I felt something is weird going on all together.

This book is freaking amazing! Full of tension, just lurking in the background.
Making you feel uneasy and uncomfortable all the time yet you have no idea why.
Very well written, characters well developed that let you in but only a little bit at a time.
The narrative is done in a way that you feel the characters are, at times talking directly to you.

This is definitely a powerful read that really has you wondering what the hell is going on! So many twist and turns. This is one epic, awesome, thrilling, gripping, brilliant book I've read so far. This book is both slow and fast paced just hang on and you'll be amazed by the end and you'll be like WHAT? What just happened?

Highly recommended.

Sophie's husband went missing while he was on an expedition in the Arctic. She goes to Dr. Thacker for therapy following his disappearance because she feels she is being followed all the time. Dr. Thacker seems to become obsessed with Sophie and wants to become more than just her therapist. This book was definitely twisty and fast paced right up to the ending which will definitely surprise you. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced reader copy.

'Other People's Lives' is a middle of the road book for me and I rate it 3.5 stars. This is a psychological thriller that does have a pretty great twist and I finished it quickly. I wanted to love this book more but unfortunately, I was underwhelmed in the end. There are some great reviews for this book and as a librarian I will purchase it for our patrons who read this genre. There's not much to say about the plot due to spoilers so I will suggest you go into this book as blind as possible.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this title in exchange for an honest review.

I love stories like this where you think you have all the information to make a good guess on what's going on/who the PROBLEM is and then the last few minutes of the book just totally twist you all up and make you realize you were wrong the whole time. Definitely one of those books that make you sit mouth agape wondering what you've been doing the whole read. Very much enjoyed this one!

Fans of ‘The Silent Patient’ will like this.
Plenty of plot twists to keep the reader guessing.
Readable but forgettable.

This was a fun, quick, and fairly thrilling read! I was definitely creeped out and it did leave me guessing. I thought I’d have it figured out and then the plot completely shifted which is a lot of fun in a thriller.

I will say I didn’t love the pacing of
This and felt the altering perspectives became kind of confusing. I think this made the plot a bit hard to follow and I likely missed some things.

This was ok, but I didn’t feel it had me hooked.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the review copy. This book was just ok for me. I didn’t love it and didn’t really like the characters. The ending was pretty good but getting there wasn’t great.

This book had me stumped. Sitting smug and thinking I had it all thought out, the author put me in my place. Finally we have a thriller that will keep you your toes.

Oo this one was definitely a creepy read!! It sucked me in from the very beginning, I absolutely loved it! Must read for a thriller!

This wasn't a bad book necessarily, just not really my cup of tea. I found a lot of it very confusing when it would switch between perspectives without much indication of who we were looking at in that chapter. I think the writing itself does have potential though.

2/5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and the author for this copy to review.
