The blurb has me at “Silent Patient” and “Gone Girl” comparisons. It definitely had silent patient vibes, but I didn’t get “Gone Girl” vibes I liked the storyline of this one and found it followed through on giving a good twist. It was medium-paced, kept me intrigued, and wasn’t predictable. Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the ARC!

Since losing her husband, Sophie Portman gets the feeling that she is being watched. She is starting to think it is all in her head and seeks the help of a psychiatrist, Dr. Thacker, who in turn tries to figure out if Sophie is being truthful or if she’s hiding something?

Other People’s Lives is a fun, quick, psychological thriller that will keep you turning the pages. There was one twist that was clever and made me stop, go back and reread part of the book. I even had to have my friend Pink clarify a thing or two to make sure I understood what actually happened.

I did have a bit of an issue with the ending which felt a little too abrupt for my taste and left me with a few unanswered questions regarding motives. Despite my confusion and the unlikeable characters, I enjoyed the book and the writing style. This was my first J.E. Rowney book, but I look forward to reading more of her work. 4 stars.

Many thanks to NetGalley, Little Fox Publishing for my eARC.

Other People's Lives by J.E. Rowney is a thriller about a woman who loses her husband. Sophie's husband is gone, and she thinks that someone is stalking her. She starts going to a therapist, where she slowly opens up about what happened to her husband. So, I mostly guessed what had happened from the beginning of this story, so this read wasn't that fun for me. Also, there is very little character development; and the characters are all unlikable, and they make ridiculous decisions. Thanks to NetGalley for the free digital review copy. All opinions are my own.

I found this a very chilling and gripping read, also I started to feel Sophie's confusion too, I wasn't sure if she was losing her mind or I was!
The author writes in a very atmospheric way, conjuring up scenes that feel so real and you can clearly see in your minds eye as you read, storyline is very good and original, very clever and well thought out plotline.
Very enjoyable and I highly recommend.

Sophie is as lost as her husband Jack. He went on a work trip but never showed up. She writes him letters and misses him deeply.
She is in therapy and on leave from her job.
She also can't shake the feeling that she is being watched.

This fast paced thriller held my attention. I liked the letters and wanted to know what happened.

I kept reading, and finished in one sitting, and was like wow, great psychological thriller.

I must be dark and twisted because my mind went further than..........yeah.

I highly recommend this book for people who want a quick read that will keep the reader guessing and well reading, to race to the ending.

Sophie's life is fine...except for a few things. Her husband is newly deceased, which was a traumatic experience in that she wasn't even on the same continent as him when it happened, let alone the same room. She hasn't been living much of a life since that happened, mostly going to work and back home and the occasional, necessary errand. The other thing? She's sure she's being watched...which she's begun seeing a psychiatrist for. Can she figure out what's really going on?

I really enjoyed this from start to finish! Ms. Rowney definitely knows how to spin a story that keeps you guessing and turning pages. I really thought I had it all figured out until a perfectly delivered twist in the last quarter of the book that made me say "I'm sorry...what?" Similar to other novels that have had a huge following in the last ten years or so...I do think she managed to make this story her own. I will absolutely be reading more of J.E. Rowney's work.

Loved this one, a lot!
Really enjoyed the plot line, enjoyed the twists didn’t see anything coming as nothing was as it seemed and it felt like everyone lied and had something to hide and I just loved it. Solid thriller and really enjoyed it. A new author for me that could become a firm fave!

Holy heckballs. My brain is still trying to catch up. How the author kept this plotline straight is beyond me!! There isn't much that can be shared without spoilers, but suffice it to say that everyone lies and everyone has their own truth. This is a quick read - it's been awhile since I've finished a book in one day, but I sure did with this one.

This book was definitely a fast paced thrilled from start to finish! I loved all the twists and turns, however I was just hoping for a little bit more oomph. The ending seemed to wrap up a little too fast.

Other People’s Lives
J.E Rowney
⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was really good at the beginning but I’m not sure what happened throughout if the author got tired or couldn’t come up with a better ending. I feel like it was really rushed.

This book got me!! At first it was really slow but at about 60 % It picked up. At first it’s confusing but then the whole story wrapped together.

Sophie is starting to see a therapist because she has lost her husband and she fears he left her for another woman. The therapist Dr Thacker tries to open her up about how it got here but little goes he know that his other current patient is somehow connected to Sophie and her missing husband Jack. How does everything fit together?

I was kind of hoping Jacks whereabouts had taken a different turn but all in all love the story plot and how much it made me think. Not much character development but the thriller aspect of it made up for it!

Sophie Portman lost her husband, Jack, when he was on a project in the Arctic. She is having difficulty coping with her loss. Sophie begins to see Dr. Thacker to help her deal with her loss. And with the overwhelming feeling she has that she is being watched. The story is told with two narratives. Sophie’s side is told through letters that she continues to write to Jack. The other side is written from Dr. Thacker’s point of view. The story takes you on a wild ride with a resolution I didn’t see coming. All in all, an engrossing book.

Well I wasn't expecting that! This is a very gripping and darkly twisted story.
I found it well written and hard to put down.
Everytime I thought I had it figured out it proved me wrong.
I recommend this for anyone that enjoys a fast paces mystery/thriller.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
