At her best friends bachelorette party, a game of truth or tequila leads lightweight Sophie to having to act out a dare. She’s sent to get a kiss from baseball player, Seb, who she has no clue is an athlete. Until the next day when she shows up to her new job and there he is!
Their insta-love story is sweet and also tackles some more serious issues. Sophie is a kick ass, strong female that doesn’t let any man intimidate her. Seb is the freaking sweetest, he’s protective and him being a hot baseball player doesn’t hurt. ;)
This one doesn’t have too many steamy scenes but their chemistry is definitely 🔥 and their quick love story has you hooked from the beginning. 😍

A steamy romantic comedy about good timing, bad temptation, and way too much tequila.
Seb’s the most famous baseball player in the world. Sophie’s not impressed. Game on
i was really happy to find out this was going to be a series! a really great romcom that reads fast and that really keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next!

This was my first book by Donna Schwartze and I really enjoyed it. I love sports romances so this was such a quick and fun read! Perfect for the beach.
When it comes to Truth or Tequila my don’t really have many opinions at all, which is a rarity. I found the entire book just… meh. I had high hopes, I really liked the sound of the plot and was looking forward to trying out a new author, but unfortunately I found it a bit disappointing.
My biggest issue was the characters. I found them all so irritating. Seb was horrifically over protective, to the point where it was actually a bit weird. If someone acted to me like he did to Sophie I would be extremely uncomfortable. Then our othe MC Sophie didn’t really make things any better. Her personality seemed inconsistent to me, like it was a completely different character throughout. These character changes were needed to help the plot and I’m sure we’re intended to be character development but to me it felt so sudden it was unrealistic.
Otherwise the book was okay though. The plot was a nice idea, although it felt a little rushed. But at the end of the day I dead it in about 3 days and it was an alright experience. I’m not blown away, but I’ve also ready considerably worse.
Overall it’s a 2.5 stars, the plot had potential but I found the characters hard to care about and generally everything just felt quite unnecessarily rushed.
This is a super quick rom com read with fairly low drama. I enjoyed the friend group, except I didn’t get why the author felt the need to have one be a frenemy. I liked Serb’s possessiveness and bossiness. The work drama was annoying however. There was an explicit sex scenes which I was happy about but I didn’t like the way it was written. I do t think this author’s style is for me.
This was a really great read with brilliantly written characters. A total joy to read from start to finish I can’t wait to read the rest in the series. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for giving me access to a review copy.
This was a much sweeter romance than I was expecting and was a nice change to have baseball as the sport of choice for our main man - Seb.
This story didnt play out exactly as I was expecting and so it was refreshing to have the standard trope within romance be refreshed with just minor tweaks but enough to make it stand out a little.
I'd defintely have preferred a more heavy lean on forbidden love.
This is a quick read, typical insta-love with a semi-decent plot. It just felt a bit over the top , and rushed into the relationship very quick. Would have liked it slowed down just a little, to feel the connection a bit better. I enjoyed the sports romance part, soft and cute but very cliche. The miscommunication trope was the final blow for me for not enjoying this. So many characters, and so many with the letter G?
Although this might not have been for me, it could definitely be for you.
Thanks to Negalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for the e-ARC. This was such a easy read I read it within a 24 hour window while still Adulting. I love the strong female character love to see it. Cant wait for the second book
A very cute, quick read that is fun and summery. A definite beach or holiday read. Some discussion around big topics, but dealt with really well. LOVED the main character and her feminist feel.
3.5 rounded up.
Cute, fun and quick read. The cover and synopsis first caught my eye and the story kept me entertained.
Truth or tequila is a cute, easy to read, fun romance story. I liked the characters and their relationship, however the only thing I found to be tedious was the amount of times Seb was worried about Sophie’s ‘safety’ doing mundane things. The overall plot was okay but sometimes felt a little rushed and I would’ve liked a little bit more closure on what happened with Sophie’s job at the end of the story.
Thank you Netgalley for the book!
I really put in for this book because of the title. Was granted it for reading and at first, was happy with it. You have Sophie who is meeting her friends at a bar and since college, they have a drinking game with Tequila. She of course has already seen Seb not knowing he is a famous baseball player. He of course has noticed her as well. The drinking game gives her a little memory of the night before and one big hangover for her meeting with a client at the ballpark. Then as a ballplayer comes and takes off his catcher’s mask only for him to be Seb. She does not remember much from the night before which makes for an awkward meeting. Once you start from there the story seems okay but somewhere in the middle it gets confusing for me then picks back up towards the end. Not happy with her not telling her friends no about the drinking game at the beginning especially when she knows she has a big meeting the next morning, but that is just me. Giving it three stars just because it seemed to lose me in the middle.
Thanks NetGalley and all for an ARC copy in return for an honest review.
This was a cute Rom-Com. Very fast, easy read. Addresses sexual harassment, love the no-nonsense approach of our main character.
Truth and Tequila by Donna Schwartze is a great sports romance. I’m a sucker for a sports romance and seeing as we’re in baseball season this one felt fitting. Truth or Tequila is a super cute, witty, quick read, about timing, temptation, and way too much tequila. I'd definitely recommend this book as I'll be finishing the others in the series as well!
This was cute. It was insta-love, which I'm not the biggest fan of. The banter was cute. I liked Sophie, but didn't much care for Seb.
This was a really fun book and I enjoyed reading it a lot. A few of the side characters were a little annoying for me personally which bought it down a little bit overall it was entertaining and I’d definitely recommend it to customer who have read a lot of romcom books
This was a very fun beach popcorn read that I could read in a day. I loved that it was dual POV and even though it had some instant love vibes it took a while for the relationship to bloom. Honestly was expecting more spicy scenes in the book, but had fun reading it. Sophie and Sen had goo chemistry. The conflict was kind of meh but it worked. I don't know what any of them would be friends with Savannah.
It was okay- nothing exciting but not terrible. If you're looking for diversity, this isnt it. The pacing felt weird from the jump and so did some of the dialogue,
4.3⭐️
I like the premise of this one. Drinking games between friends 😂
The love story was good, as well as the surrounding side stories and issues.
It was all very quick, but that’s fine. It’s a romance novel after all.
