When we graduated from college, my friends and I made a pact that we would only play this stupid game five more times—at each of our bachelorette parties. Tonight’s number four and it couldn’t come at a worse time. I have a meeting with a new client tomorrow. I can’t be hungover. Unfortunately, I’ve never played this game without ending up that way. I’m already at a disadvantage with the client. It’s the professional baseball team in town. I’m not much of a sports fan. I don’t even know who the players are, but I guess I’ll worry about that tomorrow. Tonight, it seems that, once again, I’m destined for tequila and bad decisions.

Don’t get me wrong, I like being a professional athlete. I just wish it didn’t come with so much fame. People are always staring at me and tonight’s no exception. All eyes are on me as I walk into the bar—except for one pair. And they’re attached to a gorgeous woman. When she finally looks up from her phone, she catches me ogling her and rolls her eyes. I don’t think she has any idea who I am. Damn, that turns me on. I spend most of the night trying to figure out how to talk to her when suddenly she lands in my lap. She’s playing a drinking game with her friends and has to get me to kiss her to win. I want to kiss her—passionately—but not when she’s this flat-out drunk. I’d at least like her to remember our first kiss.
The Next Day
Sophie
I’m painfully hungover. All I want to do is get done with this meeting, so I can go home and have my friends tell me about the guy I tried to drunkenly seduce last night. All I remember are his eyes—his soft, beautiful eyes. I’m on the field with my new client watching the players practice when the catcher jumps up from behind the plate and starts walking toward me. When he pulls up his mask, the eyes I’ve been thinking about all morning are staring at me. “Sophie?” he says as a smile starts curling at the corners of his mouth.

A cute, fun read. The book follows the gorgeous Sophie and baseball player Seb as they navigate a relationship in the world of sports romance. The book had definite pros in the form of dual pov chapters, strong female lead and heart melting leading man. However, there were also a number of cons, one being the obvious spelling and grammatical errors in some instances. The book is very insta-love as well and paces very quickly with some oversight in certain situations. Representation is not the best but there are some cliched representative characters. Overall its a quick and fun read, reminiscent of wattpad books I would've spent years enjoying.

Truth or Tequila is the first book I have read by Donna Schwartze and I loved it! Just what I needed! I loved the title and I'm a huge baseball fan so this seemed like a perfect fit. The relationship between Sophie and Seb starts out slowly but builds to a home run! I will definitely read more from this author!

I received this book from NetGalley to give my honest review. Overall I didn’t love this book. It was a good read but some of the tropes were ones that I just hate. It had instant love/attraction, the guy being over protective right off the bat, and all he did was growl. Besides all of that I did enjoy reading this. It had some super well written scenes that I loved and I did enjoy the beginning of this romance a lot. This book for me was very middle of the road.

Sophie finds herself playing "truth or tequila" at her best friend's bachelorette party. To complete the game, the losing (aka drunkest) participant has to complete a dare and lightweight Sophie is sent to kiss the good looking guy who has been staring her down all night. She has no idea who he is, but knows he must be famous based on his entrance into the club. She approaches him, but doesn't make it too far because he sees how intoxicated she is.
Without much recollection of the night before, Sophie has to go to an important client meeting as a PR specialist. Her client is the owner of a baseball franchise. Sophie gets introduced to some of the team and recognizes the catcher as the guy from the night before, Seb. They have a connection, but dating a client is off limits. Should she let him in or try to keep her distance, even though they can't seem to stay away from each other?
This was such a cute book! It has a little bit of forbidden romance, which I love. I wish there would have been a little bit more drama, but overall was a great rom-com. I think this is a perfect beach read.
