This checked off everything I look for in a book. Was not disappointed. Really enjoyed this book. I will read more from this author.
This book is such a light-hearted read. When I was stuck at home with covid, I wanted light rom-coms to help me pass time and this was the perfect book. I love the male and female lead fell in love at "first" sight and it wasn't too over-the-top or fairy-tale-esque. I also love how this book touches upon feminism by making the main female lead a strong woman who stands up for what is right and I love that her best friend is equally as fiery and strong. There were some grammar errors here and there but nothing that was too annoying.
Truth or tequila was a quick and enjoyable read! I love sports romance and it was super cute!! I’m not the biggest fan of the insta love trope but because the book was shorter than I typically read I didn’t mind it too much. I really liked Sophie and her friend group; they were so supportive of each other and I loved the dynamic! I wish we saw more of Seb and Sophie interacting with his teammates however I liked the storyline with Gentry, it was interesting and I liked how the focus of the book wasn’t solely on the romance. Thank you so much to the publisher and netgalley for the review copy!
Truth or Tequila is the first book I’ve read by Donna Schwartze, and I enjoyed it very much! ! The development of the relationship between Sophie and Seb is a slow burn, but I enjoyed the book and how the story builds.
This one was just not my cup of tea. It’s cute and all but it’s something with the dialogues that just doesn’t works for me. It feels a bit juvenile in some strange kind of way. It just doesn’t feel authentic or believable to me. I know it’s fiction of course but still something about it just doesn’t work for me.
3.5 ⭐️
This was such a light, fun, fresh east read. I like the character development, the storyline was good but I feel bad more potential to become something better and a little more dramatic. All in all, this really was a nice light read to put you into a good mood.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 5
I got approved for this on NetGalley and let me say I am actually so surprised with how much I enjoyed this book! Seb is so cute and sweet. Not to mention how much he’s into Sophie is adorable! Also, the plot of this book? I loved it. Aside from the romance aspect it really highlighted harassment towards females in the workplace and how it may get covered up etc. Overall , loved it!
A steamy romantic comedy about good timing, bad temptation, and way too much tequila. Omg talk about a roller coaster read wow this book kept me on the edge of my seat through out I just couldn't put it down this writer keeps you hooked and once your hooked your not letting go
Truth or Tequila is a sports adjacent romance, whose title grabbed me (as a bit of a tequila fan!). The story follows Sophie and Seb who meet on a night out. Sophie has no idea who Seb is which only interests him more.
The story mainly focuses on the reason Sophie is there to do her job - Seb’s media scandal. This seemed a little bit farfetched in places for me and some of the characters - who are there to make you hate them - really did their job!
The title is a fun twist on the classic game truth and dare that the group of friends play - as a fan of tequila it certainly seems up my street!
I think if you’re a fan of Meghan Quinn or Tessa Bailey you’ll enjoy this one. The next book in the series, Raine Out, is already available.
This is my first time reading work from the author Donna Schwartze and it has been a great introduction to her style of writing. The story is funny and endearing, the main characters are wonderful and the supporting teams are awesome.
Truth or Tequilla is a sweet sports romance, the banter between these two main characters along will have you laughing and reading. Add the supporting characters and this story is an excellent page-turning read!
Honestly didn’t think I wouldn’t like as much as k thought I would. I didn’t the main characters had much banter between them and there was no romance element to it for me.
I loved this book. It had some really funny moments and some really sweet moments. Seb really cares for Sophia and Sophia can take care of herself... Unless she is playing truth and tequila. A game from her college days that her friends decided they would only play 5 more times at their batchelorete parties. This game leads Sophia to Seb and things slowly fall in place from there.
Usually, I am not a fan of insta-love, I absolutely despise it. But Donna Schwartze does an amazing job developing Seb and Sophie's relationship. Seb is a famous baseball player (AHHHH) and Sophie has no idea who he is. On the night they meet, Sophie gets drunk and is dared by her friends to kiss Seb. Seb is instantly attracted to her, but the insta-love is done in a way where he wants to get to know her and it's not love based on solely attraction. He doesn't state he is in love with her right away as I have seen in other books.
Seb is respectful, kind, and very protective. He respected Sophie's boundaries and conditions and even gave her time to fall in love. He wasn't forceful. Sophie is a strong woman who can take care of herself and is one of the best in her field.
There were quite a few things that held me back from rating it 5 stars. There were some scenes that felt rushed. The progression between the characters feels very random. I couldn't understand how they didn't kiss at all then on the same day they did (soberly) they also slept with one another?!?!?! It felt as if the spicy scene was rushed and very unorganized. I also do wish that they explained Truth or Tequila better as I was very confused about how the game worked at first.
I am still very excited to read the next book in the series!

It pains me to make this review because this book started out great. The idea of the book and the story itself are fantastic. It caught my attention immediately when I saw it on he potential books to request and I was grateful to have had the chance to read it. However I need to be honest about my experience reading it. There was something about the way the events were written that made the story lack a natural flow. Things felt rushed, specially the romance part between the main characters. I made it just over 68% but couldn’t go further than that because they went from zero to sixty in a way that didn’t feel believable enough for me. Also, the writing felt like not enough editing iterations were made ( not in the gramatical errors sense, more in the word choice, event descriptions and things of that sort). Additionally, just, why is the cover so similar to People we meet on vacation by Emily Henry? I know it’s a thing in the publishing industry to use similar covers for different books by different authors but this execution, in my opinion, wasn’t giving the correct vibe. With that said, the story had great potential, it just needs some improvement in the execution. I would definitely reread if a revised version was created (which I know it’s not a thing). I would also give this author a try later on because I feel they are on to something really cool. This book was just not for me.
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC for an exchange for an honest review.
Such a great book, really enjoyed this one.
Truth? I liked the story, but it could've been better. It's good, not great. This is one of those books you will either like or not like. It's an insta-love romance promoted as a steamy, romantic comedy. However, there were only a couple of funny lines/moments and there's only one sex scene that I would not call steamy at all. In fact, the sex scene was a little confusing. Like it would say they were in one position but then one of them would do something that couldn't be done in that position, that kind of thing. There were several other paragraphs that seemed confusing by how they were written as well.
Overall, the story was interesting and it was a quick, easy read despite having to re-read some lines until it made sense. Sebastian is instantly intrigued by Sophie the first time he sees her entering the bar that he is heading into. She is there to celebrate with her friends at a Bachelorette party. They play a drinking game that leads to a dare and that dare is how Seb and Sophie meet. I really enjoyed that part, I love a unique meet-cute and this one was great. Sophie has no clue that Seb is a very famous baseball player, she just knows that he must be someone as he is in the Vip area and people seem to be staring and taking his picture. After that the story line kind of goes all over the place with contradictions and time line. Like, Sophie is said to be this strong willed, level headed, confident woman who stands up for herself when needed. She also has trust issues that stem from being cheated on by her last boyfriend. So after she sleeps with Seb once, she then finds out that he lied to her, (he didn't) and she has this epic meltdown. Crying and sobbing so hard, she can't even stand up. She doesn't even confront him about what she heard, she just took the word of someone she doesn't even know and never gives him a chance to explain. I get feeling betrayed, angry, hurt, and all, but this reaction was so over the top given that they're not a couple and she only slept with him one time. It completely contradicts the type of person the author made her out to be. Anyway, those are the kind of issues I had with the book and I think this good story could've been great with better editing and proofreading. I won't be reading the next in the series.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. This book was okay. I felt like there wasn't a spark between Sophie and Seb. It was also a little too cliche for me. The whole "everyone knows who I am except one girl, so she's the one for me" thing, is something I do not like. I know that was in the blurb but I still gave this book a chance. As I said, I didn't see or feel a spark between them and it also felt too rushed.
This is my first sports romance and thoroughly enjoyed it. Sophia and Seb banter is witty and flirty and the storyline hit everything I look for in a romance. The writing was easy going and kept my attention. I’m excited to read more of this series
this was archived before i could give a review :( but the premise and the cover are cute and i'll definitely be picking it up in the future!
This was a cute romance book about a famous ballplayer and an independent woman. I thought the characterization was done well. I just wasn't impressed with the storyline.
