I generally enjoy anything to do with cat cafes - I also love visiting them. I had high hopes for this book, I enjoyed it, but I do think there was some left to be desired.

ARC REVIEW FOR A CAT CAFE CHRISTMAS

2 stars

Wow....just...wow. This book was just...not good. All the characters, except for maybe Ben and Mrs. Wyatt, were terrible people trying to be disguised as misguided or victimized. The dialogue read like a really bad Hallmark movie with no-name actors, and the cheesiness was not endearing but actually cringeworthy. The only redeeming part of the story was the ending- that was the only part where I didn't cringe and I enjoyed (and I actually mean the ending of the book - last 3 chapters - not the end of the book :) )

I don't want my review to come across as I'm ripping the author apart, because I've read their other books under a different pen name and I love those. This one was just not my cup of tea. However, I know a lot of people who enjoyed it, so I would recommend it to people who enjoy clean, Hallmark-style romances, but that is just NOT me.

What do you get when you combine cats, childhood best friends opening a cafe together, humor, and an opposites attract romance? A freaking charming holiday read.

Kara and Charity own Meow and Furever Cat Cafe (loveee the name). Unfortunately the business is struggling and they need to find a way to keep their doors open past the holidays.

Enter marketing genius Ben who has a plan to help and Kara happens to bump into one morning. Kara and Ben do not get off on the right foot (and I’m with Kara on this one, how can you trust someone who doesn’t like animals?!). However, when Ben agrees to foster the kitten he found a friendship forms and feelings start to grow.

Kara and Ben were down to earth and well rounded characters and I loved watching them grow (together and individually). They were also surrounded by some great side characters in Charity, Schwartz, Ben’s parent’s, and Mrs. Wyatt. These characters added such fun and wisdom to the story.

Also worth mention that at the beginning of each chapter there is a little “dating profile” for the cats. It was a super cute touch that I really enjoyed 🐱

This was my first by Codi Gary but I will definitely be reading more of her books!

This was cute! However, if you aren’t an extreme cat lover like me, A CAT CAFE CHRISTMAS may fall a little flat. Kara and Ben’s romance was sweet and I was entertained enough by the let’s-save-our-business subplot, but I otherwise wasn’t really blown away by the story overall. I also continuously forgot that this was a Christmas book throughout, so I’m surprised it’s marketed as so. I liked this, but would only recommend it to extreme cat lovers who are in the mood for some fluff.

Cue 🎶🎤these are a few of my favorite things…🎶
We’ve got rescue CATS 😻 we’ve got CHRISTMAS 🎄and we’ve got a cozy little ROMANCE 👩‍❤️‍👨
.
What I absolutely loved about this book was, of course, the cats! 🐈🐈‍⬛ Each chapter starts with a fun cat bio and the cat cafe/rescue was a really sweet setting. Plus there are multiple happy ever afters here and it totally made my heart warm 💗
.
I’ll be honest though, I almost DNFd this one on the first 40 pages or so, but I’m really glad I didn’t. In the beginning both our main characters were a wee bit too grumpy and unreasonable and I’m sorry, but someone that doesn’t like animals is just plain weird and a huge turn off (spoiler alert: they come around 🙊) However, once these two calmed down I really enjoyed them both together and individually. I thought the author did great job of explaining the root of their trust issues and showing their real efforts on trying to move on. The friendships and support that these two were surrounded by and showed each other was also really lovely.
.
If you’re looking to read a sweet and light-hearted Christmas romance with some Hallmark vibes while you cozy up to your cat, give this one a try!

Christmas + cats? I said count me in the second I heard about this one!! So what’s it about? Kara Ingalls runs, you guessed it, a cat café with her best friend Charity. A veterinarian and a baker, they make the purrfect pair. But when the bills start piling up, they might need a Christmas miracle. Enter Ben, a marketing whiz, albeit NOT cat lover. After Ben and Kara get off on the wrong foot (or should we say paw??) can a cute furry ball of chaos, opposites attract, and the goal of saving the café by Christmas ultimately bring them together?

If you are looking for a Hallmark-y type book with cute cats, look no further! A light, warm-hearted read purrrrfect for this Christmas season. Did I love absolutely everything about this book? No. Did I enjoy it for what it was? Yes! Just the same as how I feel about watching cheesy Christmas movies! With this one come for the cats, stay for the vibes. Romance is fade to black (which I knew going in) so definitely look elsewhere if you are hoping for some steam!

Such a cute rom com with cats, coffee and drama. Well ex coming back and when she's trying to move on type drama. Well also he had issues with his recent ex too and omg I would feel the same as him. It's hard to trust again after being taking advantage of.

Loved the marketing and vet talk.

The kitten that he adopted sounded like a handful. But the kitten grew on him.

Thank you readforeverpub and netgalley for the e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.

I adore cats, but this book is too tame for me. Even the male characters seemingly refuse to curse. If you’re into gentle romances you might like this one. I made it to the Thanksgiving “Friendsgiving” gathering but just couldn’t read any further. DNF

After a bad breakup, Kara is starting over with a new business - a cat cafe in town. But when her path collides with Ben, a saavy marketer healing from his own breakup, maybe together they can save her cafe from going under and discover love!

This book was so cute! I really liked it. The description of the adoptable cats at the top of each chapter is darling. I really enjoyed Ben and Kara’s romance - it was sweet and as someone who values acts of service, totally up my alley.

A perfect, cozy holiday read for cat lovers and everyone!

Adorable and lighthearted! This was the perfect cozy read for Christmastime!

The characters were well developed and likeable. The cafe was such a neat focal point, and I enjoyed being transported there. I loved all the cats, and their unique and fun personalities!

There was a little bit of everything mixed in, which made it a quick and easy read for me. I love a good rom com, so this was just what I needed especially with the extra Christmas festivities mixed in!

This was an enjoyable cute read! I loved the aspects of the cats and I got invested more in the kitties than I did in the romance, but I still found it entertaining! I didn’t fully agree with the first meeting and how Kara shamed Ben for not wanting to take home an animal. I know this book is not made for being realistic or anything of that nature, but for a comfy Hallmark romance feel (i could totally see this as a movie on Hallmark)! Overall a fun read, but not necessarily a new favorite.

Thank you to Netgalley and Forever for giving me a copy in exchange for my honest review!

This book was just plain adorable! As a cat lover (and a coffee lover), I was envious of the fact that I don't have a cat cafe in my area. A great read with great characters and PAWSOME cat friends!

What a cute warm hug of a Christmas book. A Cat Cafe Christmas is the perfect read for your cold winter’s night while sipping hot chocolate with your cat(s) snuggled in your lap.
This rom com features Ben and Kara. Kara is a veterinarian and co-owner of Meow and Furrever Cat Café. They need a Christmas miracle and plenty of donations to stay open and run the veterinarian’s office as a low cost one for the disadvantaged like she wants to. There are such cute blurbs at the beginning of each chapter talking about the cats for adoption.

With more cats than customers it looks like they may be in trouble.
Ben is a marketing guru who decides to help put together a marketing plan to help the cats, it has nothing to do with how pretty Kara is of course. He just may turn from grumpy to sunshine the more time he spends with Kara though.

Kara and Ben both have a lot of healing to do though from previous relationships and are in this for the cats.
Ben admits he is not at all a cat guy but when he takes a kitten into his apartment to watch for a bit with it’s crazy and mischievous antics it seems as though this little one has him now wrapped around its paw.

It’s heartwarming to see the healing process this couple is going through, and my favorite part is seeing the cats adopted into their forever homes.
Warm, cosy, Christmas, romance and full of adorable and adoptable cats. What more could you want in a holiday read?

Honestly, this one was super cute. I wasn't really sure what to expect with this one and was worried that it would feel too far from the typical holiday contemporary romance that I enjoy, but this ended up being very enjoyable, despite being a bit tacky (but hey, isn't that why we read these?).

I thought Ben and Kara were cute enough, but their 'enemies' to lovers really felt like a stretch. Someone is not a bad person because they don't want to take home an animal at random, and I wasn't crazy about how she made Ben out to be some uncaring, coldhearted person for not taking in a stray (not to mention how unprofessional it was).

Other things that were kind of annoying:
- Ben works in marketing, but as a long time marketing professional, the way his job was portrayed was SO unrealistic. That's not how any of it works!
- Kara's little catchphrases. I know they were supposed to be cute and endearing, but they were too much and so nonsensical

Despite this, I loved the setting (cats are bonus points, always) and I loved that there was a cute cat description at the beginning of each chapter. Ben and Kara's chemistry did grow, and by the end, I really did enjoy the story, but there was definitely a LOT of weird stuff going on to get there.

The premise of this one sounded adorable. Kind of sounded like the TV show Call me Cat. The hero was awesome. But the heroine was not likeable at all. And me as a reader I could not see what the hero saw in her.

wow omg so cute. I loved the cat aspect of this book as I feel like most books include a dog if it has an animal in it. the love story was adorable and super swoon worthy. this is a must read this time of year.

Very sweet and cute. The equivalent of a Hallmark movie in print.

Honestly....this was such a joy to read. It felt very "Hallmarkey" in that you know nothing bad will happen to the characters and that they will seamlessly work through any issues they have. However, the adorable cover, concept, and kitty chapter headers were what originally drew me to pick this as the December title for my book club and so far it has been a hit! I enjoyed watching our characters grow together, and maturely work through their issues - since that is something that really lacks in a lot of romance right now. We are adults so life and love can and will get messy but Cody Gary handled it with such heart. While some of the author's other works seem a little intense when compared to this cozy holiday romance I think her range as an author shows great promise for what we might see next! At the end of the day this is the perfect book for you if you love a good redemption story, a search for the truth, a self-proclaimed animal avoider falling for a little kitten, and a whole lot of warm winter vibes.

A Cat Cafe Christmas by Codi Gary

Like cats in your holiday romance? This book is for you!

A lovely romance, with 2 strong leads and many adorable precious cats! Kara is wary of love and focuses on opening her Meow and Furrever Cat Cafe' instead of men.

She is a veterinarian and a good one. Her goal is to adopt the cats out to loving families.

Ben is a good strategizer who is going to help her make a strong go of the cafe. He is great at his job but his flaw? To Kara at least, he's not a cat person.

This book was by turns funny, sweet and even a bit sad in parts.

The cats were my favorite part of the story, but the developing love story was really enjoyable as well.

I really enjoyed how the chapters opened with a cat, a drawing and their name and description, really unique and fun.

I liked how Kara and Ben grudgingly got to know each other, and then like and even love each other. I liked the growth each character showed in the story.

4*****
