Dark of Night Annie Pederson #2 by Colleen Coble is the second eagerly awaited book in the Rock Harbour series. Annie's little sister was abducted twenty years ago when the two girls were sitting on a dock after bedtime watching loons. Now Sarah has returned with a vengeance. She blames Annie for not saving her on that terrible night and she does not believe the truth that Annie had been fighting for her life. The abductor had slashed Annie in the throat and placed Sarah on a boat before they floated away in the night.
There are so many good twists to this story. Two women who gathered the strength to leave abusive conditions find solace in a local shelter. Michelle Fraser is hiking with the intent of capturing a big cat in the wild with her camera. She hears a scream and attempts to rescue Grace Mitchell from two men. Michelle falls and breaks her ankle before the women wreck on the ATV as they try to escape. Grace dies in the accident and Michelle is captured by the two men. How does this event link to the shelter?
The author interweaves the personal problems in Annie's life with the larger tragedy of the missing women in the area. Danger, deception, and trauma await Annie's family and loved ones as trouble comes their way. The strength of faith will help Annie during unexpected heartaches!
Thank you to NetGalley, Colleen Coble, and the publisher for the opportunity to read the ARC of Dark of Night.

Dark of Night is the second book in Colleen Coble's new Annie Pederson series. While there is a new primary mystery in this book, it picks up right where the first book ended and truly should be read in order to get the most out of it. While it might be okay as a standalone, I definitely feel like there will be a lot of confusion on the relationships between the various characters. There were some unanswered questions from book one that we dive right back into with this one, and much like the first, it definitely has me wanting to know what will happen next.

Colleen Coble is a top favorite of mine, and as such I have pretty high expectations when I pick up one of her books and know I will be in for a page turning adventure. This one does not disappoint. There is a lot going on in the story in many different directions, and yet it's well written without any confusion. I loved how all the aspects of the story weaved together and all in all created a story that truly had me on the edge of my seat. I haven't read a book by this author I have not enjoyed, but I must say that this particular series is shaping up to be my favorite yet. I look forward to seeing what happens in the next one...I need more!

**I received a complimentary copy for consideration. All thoughts are my own.
