As a momma, I could relate on pretty large levels with this one..but ultimately, this wasn't for me. I found myself distracted easily and not connected to the story. I would recommend it for other moms who are looking to find themselves, but it was merely ok for me.
Thanks to the publisher for the advanced copy. All thoughts are my own.
Very well written book. Really enjoyed this author, would definitely read more by this author and recommend on my book IG
This was overall a very cute, quick and light read. As a mom, I could absolutely relate to a lot of the scenarios that the MC was put in and had to work through with her kiddos. Having raised three recent teenagers, I really felt for Tara and her frustrations on motherhood, her career, and really figuring out who she is as a person and not just a mom. The setting of Ireland was fun but every so often there was something that would go over my head - but overall I enjoyed this story of motherhood and finding our identity as a woman. I enjoyed seeing Tara try to improve herself to make her daughter happy or for her daughter to think she is cool - there was wit, humor, and heart here for sure! Fun read.
Thank you for the advanced reader copy! Although the book was good, it was not my cup of tea. I understood the character, however, I did not enjoy being in her mindset. I would still recommend it to certain readers.
Awesome read, felt I could relate as me being a Mom, I loved the story so much. I will definitely share this book with other Mom friends.
I absolutely loved this book. It hooked me and kept me turning pages until I was done. Finished it in two days! The character development was strong, and the premise was unique enough that it didn't feel like anything else I've read.
Oh I should have loved this since this is basically me- a middle aged mom with a moody teenage daughter struggling to find herself again through all the madness of life. But I just couldn’t. I did not like her and I don’t know if that says something about me. I wish she surrounded herself with more supportive friends and recognized how great her husband is. Maybe a lesson here for myself
A laugh out loud funny and so cute story that I found unfortunately very relatable! Loved the characters, the humor and the story. Such a fun read!
I was lucky to receive an advance copy of The Secret Life of an Uncool Mom by Serena Terry from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review and opinion. Let's just say the title and cover of this book drew me in and made me laugh before I even started reading. There's many days my son has made me feel like an uncool mom when he didn't get his way! :) I enjoyed this book and laughed out loud at several sections. The only thing I found a bit confusing was the Irish words as I didn't realize it was an Irish book...I definitely would recommend anyone who is a mom should take some time for themselves and read this. You won't be disappointed.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher/author for this ARC for an exchange for an honest review.
Pretty interesting book.
This book is a must read for moms who feel unseen and hot mess! I laughed out loud until I cried because so many of the scenes and conflicts are something a tired mom can relate to!
I read The Secret Life of an Uncool Mom by Serena Terry and found it to be a great read. As a mom I felt it to be EXTREMELY relatable. The characters were well developed and the story was hilarious! The story was spot on! I mean at times I was asking myself "did Serena Terry write my memoir".
Serena's writing style was easy to follow and the over all message of this book was fun and hilarious! I highly recommend it!
I'll be honest, I really didn't enjoy this book all too much. I ended up not finishing it. I wish the character was stronger.
As a mom I really enjoyed this book. Kept me entertained and laughing throughout. This is the kind of stuff I like.
This book started out strong but around a quarter through, it still felt pretty purposeless. I ended up not finishing the book, and never felt the desire or curious to return to it.
I'm not a mom, but I thought this was such a cute and funny book. I loved all parts of this. Its not fully relatable to me, but I have a teenage niece, and lemme tell you -- she is a good representation of one in the book and I'm the "cool" aunt who tries to fit in. I've already recommended this to my mom friends.
This was a DNF for me. I just couldn't get into it. I like the concept, but in the end just wasn't for me.
I enjoyed the concept of this book. Being the around the same age as the main character, I could relate to a lot of what she was going through and feeling. As a mom, there were a lot of things I found myself laughing at. It gave me a bit of nostalgia as well. It was a light read that was enjoyable. I did find it a tad bit difficult with some of the Irish verbiage but was glad to see there was a dictionary in the back of the book. Wish I would have known that before. Overall, it was an okay read.
Tara thinks she needs to up her game to impress her 13 year old daughter, Gemma, who is continually embarrassed by her. Tara changes her hair, clothing, and embarks in a self improvement routine. I’m all for improving yourself, but Tara is pandering to the whims and selfishness of a teenager.
I liked Tara, she was a good person, I thought Gemma needed to be put in her place and told off. The absolute gem was Paul. He was patient, understanding and present.
The lesson from this book is me happy with yourself no matter what your mouthy teenager says.
Witty, fresh, and oh-s0-fun! I could relate to a lot of this as a mom. It went off the rails for a bit and wasn't that realistic but it really was laugh out loud funny. I enjoyed the characters and got a kick out their antics. Overall a fun read that made for a nice break from heavier books. This was fun and I got a kick out of it. 3.5 stars
