London, a pediatric surgeon, loves her job and the hospital she works at. When she hooks up with Drew, a schoolmate at their high school reunion, she is convinced it will be just the one time. She is shocked to see him again at the hospital board meeting where she finds out he will be auditing the hospital and ultimately deciding whether they will stay open.

This book was so, so good. I loved how London was such a powerful career woman and Drew, what a sweetheart. Their witty banter and sizzling chemistry was electric. This was such a fantastic end to this series. I listened to the audio curled up in bed one cold night and before I knew it, I'd listened to the whole thing!

I have truly enjoy The Boyfriend Project series books from Farrah Rochon - and book 3, about London, has been one of the best stories of them all!

London is a very driven doctor, attending her 15 year high school reunion, where she was not only class president (so helped plan the reunion), but also co-valedictorian! The other co, and bane of her existence, Drew Sullivan, shows up at the reunion and starts making life tough again… by making her fall into bed with him. She figures it’s a single night and she won’t see him again - he doesn’t even live there anymore! Until he shows up at her hospital on Monday, as the newly recruited company to audit and give recommendations about the hospital to keep running and not have to privatize.

This enemies/rivals to lovers, second chance, workplace romance (because of course, so many of these enemies to lovers are one-sided!) contains all of the best elements of this classic, favourite trope, with a fantastic steamy base, all the great friendships between the. 3 we’ve come to love in this series, and wraps the series beautifully… though I’m sad it’s over!

I had both the ebook and audio - narrated by Marissa Hampton. Marissa is a new-to-me narrator but she did an absolutely beautiful job of all the different characters. Great performance! It was really great to be able to read along, but there were huge differences between print and audio versions.

I highly recommend this book, this series, and most definitely the audio (for all 3!), to absolutely every romance fan out there - there’s a trope within for all of you! I rated it 4 stars but trends up a bit towards 4.25.

I received an advance review and advance listen copy from NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and Hachette Audio, and this is my honest feedback.

I really enjoyed this one!

A huge thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for my advanced audio copy of The Hookup Plan!

What I Enjoyed-

✨ The Audio- The Hookup Plan was narrated by Marissa Hampton. This was my first time hearing her voice and I loved it. She did an amazing job.

✨ The Cover- The Cover of this book is super cute and the colors make me happy =)

✨ The Characters- I LOVE LONDON. She is by far my favorite in this series. I loved that she worked in healthcare. I loved how attentive she was to her patients. This character shed some light on issues within our healthcare system without it being overkill. I hope that makes sense.
As I have said in previous reviews for this book series- I also really adore the friend group in The Boyfriend Project series.

✨ The Romance- I loved London and Drew as a couple. I loved their back story and I really wanted them together by the end of the book.

Overall- A fun and easy read. I will definitely be picking up more by this author.

This was such a cute book! I loved this enemies-to-lovers/hook-up turned feelings romance. I love that we followed a woman who was unapologetically great at her job. And Drew is 100% book boyfriend material. He is so sweet and open. It was really great to get a closer look at how their relationship developed from hook-up to feelings. While it was a little annoying how stubborn London was at times, I liked seeing Drew be so sweet to her. I also think this book was a good middle ground of steaminess. I personally like a steamier book, but the mix of both closed and open door scenes I think will make this appealing for people who both do and do not like steam in their romances.

There was also some added heavy topics including family dynamics, grief, and sexism. I found London's relationship with her dad very relatable, and it was nice to see Drew be vulnerable in his grief for his mom. I also really loved London's relationship with her friends. I know the first two books were about them, and while I haven't read those books, I feel like everything I needed to know about them was well explained. This could definitely be read as a standalone (although now I do want to go back and read the first 2!).

A great finale to the Boyfriend Project series!

I'd suspected THE HOOKUP PLAN would be my favorite of the three books by Farrah Rochon, and it was. Pediatric surgeon London Kelley is in the final year of a five-year residency, with lots of offers for her next position -- but does she want to leave Austin/the hospital she's so committed to improving? Being as high-achieving as she is, dating has long remained on the backburner, and now she's got high blood pressure to contend with too. The answer, according to her best friends? A casual hookup. Good thing she's just run into her high school rival Drew, who happens to be gorgeous.

I really appreciate the focus on London's career, as well as the ways in which Drew uses his money for good. I commend Rochon for making this series not just about each of the friends finding love, but determining what it is they want and then accomplishing that.

I had a few issues with this one that prevented me from absolutely loving it, the largest of which is that Drew tells London he's a hedge fund manager, but he's switched careers and now manages a consultancy firm. I couldn't help but feel that a sentence or two was missing, explaining this job switch early on (she later refers to his company as a management consulting firm, and he talks about why he wanted to do this sort of work). There also were some comments that took me out of the story, the worst of which were two mentions that eating a cupcake means more time on the treadmill (I understand that may seem innocuous to some but after years of unlearning diet culture, I hate to see it normalized).

Still, there's so much to like in this great rivals to lovers story.

I mostly listened to the audiobook, despite having the text -- narrator Marissa Hampton immediately pulled me into the story. Her inflection was excellent; I'd certainly recommend the audiobook.

Thank you to Hachette Audio and Forever for the ARC and ALC.

The Hookup Plan was a really pleasant romance read, well balanced in hard situations for character development and light & fun romance progression. I am always hooked by a strong woman MC and London is not only a pediatric surgeon, she speaks her mind, has strong female friendships, is a great older sister, and goes for what she wants. Absolutely loved her. Drew balances her out well, and watching them reunite after knowing each other in high school was really enjoyable. Marissa Hampton did a wonderful job narrating this book and I really loved listening to it!

London is a successful pediatric surgeon who plans her high school class reunion where she runs into her high school "enemy", Drew who is a hot-shot that works for a consulting firm. London is struggling with some stress related health issues and the potential sale of the hospital that she works at is definitely adding to it. London and Drew end up in a no-strings attached "hookup plan," but where will it go from there?

I did not know that this was part of a series and I will be going back to read the other two. I loved the banter between the two characters and loved seeing a strong female lead.

The Hookup Plan is the third standalone story in The Boyfriend Project series. This story follows pediatric surgeon London Kelley, who is in her final year of residency at a hospital in Austin. Her two friends, Samiah and Taylor each already had their own stories with The Boyfriend Project for Samiah Brooks and The Dating Playbook for Taylor Powell. Since I have not read the first two in the series, I will have to check out the other two stories shortly.

London goes to attend her 15-year high school reunion, which for me started off thinking that my school has never done those as they do only one at ten years, so it was cool to think that other schools could have them. At the reunion she runs into her high school rival, Drew Sullivan, a hedge fund manager. The two hook up and London believes that it will be the last time she will see Drew. As it turns out, Drew is tasked with helping turn the finances of London’s hospital around to keep it a county institute. As London sees sex with Drew as stress relief and Drew has been in love with London since high school, the two create a hook-up alliance where they will be together as long as Drew remains in town.

I tried to keep giving London chances, but she never, unfortunately grew on me as a character. She dominated the first sexual encounter with Drew where it came across as manipulation. A patient’s mother expresses concern about the cost of care her child is receiving and London just says the hospital will work with her. This is an out of touch comment where the provider does not have a clue about the actual cost of care even with insurance. The whole premise of the novel is that London works with Drew to help save the hospital, so it seemed odd at first that she was not more versed on hospital finance basics, whether they be county, private, or public. Throughout almost every interaction with Drew, she reminded him that they were enemies 15 years ago.

Overall, I loved the concept of this story on paper. There is a lot to love as London is a black woman who is underestimated in her field. The whole hospital issues, such as the misogyny was nicely incorporated. She has her own health issues plus a rough relationship with her family. Drew has his own issues that he is working through. The two characters start as enemies (at least on London’s side) to lovers where feelings start to form. The writing itself was enjoyable and the pacing was nice, although the second half went a little slow for my taste. As this is my first novel by the author, this story may not have been entirely for me, but there is a lot to love and to make me want to continue reading more from the author in the future.

**I give a special thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this entertaining novel. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.**

1. The cover of this book is EVERYTHING! How many books can you remember from back in the day that depicted BLACK LOVE on the cover like this?!
2. I don’t know about you but one of my toxic traits is to purchase books with gorgeous Black people on the front cover; judge ya mama. 😌
3. I LIVED for the banter between Drew & London!! I literally had so many moments of giggling while reading about these two. 🥰
4. Love that Drew & London were working successful careers; it’s giving #blackexcellence & I’m here for it!
5. I enjoyed the slow-burn romance in this book & even the agreement between Drew & London, it’s gives you such a sweet build up of the affection that grows between the two. 💗
6. “I’m not asking for more than you’re ready to give, London. I’m just asking that you’ll be open to giving me more than just your body.” - DREW, I LOVE YOU! We need more Black men like Drew Sullivan! 🖤
7. London + Drew’s text exchange on page 217; 😂💜
8. I loved that Drew & London knew that they both didn’t want children & that’s OKAY!

I think Farrah Rochon did a great job writing these well rounded Black characters and I was extremely proud holding this book in public, it’s too pretty not to be shown off! I also love that there wasn’t another breakup at the end of this story. I just wish that readers got to see Coleman get what he deserved!

I love an enemies to lovers story and high school rivalries element was a great way for the characters to have a more established history.
London is hardworking but stressed out, relatable to many who have a hard time making time for themselves and practicing self care.
Drew is hardworking but laid back, a good foil to London whose stress is starting to impact her physical health.
Together, they lean on one another for support when needed, and learn that they're not enemies, they're not friends, they're soul mates.
Soulmates that save themselves, their families, and even a hospital.

I loved London's professional attitude towards work, dedicating her time and energy but still acknowledging and assisting her support staff. She was an okay sister in the beginning but she does learn how to be there for her siblings and makes a promise to be involved in their lives in the future. We didn't see much of her relationship with her mother, we just learned of her toxic father, but I like to think that with a toxic father like that, she had a great mom to come home to growing up.

I would have liked more family stuff from Drew. We saw into his past a little bit with the loss of his mother and we had a couple of scenes with his uncle who 'was like a brother' to him. But it would have been nice to see more family dynamics from him. London is for sure the main character, but since the story is told from both their perspectives, it would have been nice to get more out of Drew.

Overall this was a wonderful story about friendship and love and family. I like the message about how important a work/home balance is and why self-care is needed. I like that it ends with a few things still not figured out; sometimes it's a little unrealistic when at the end of the book everything seems to wrap up with a nice bow, it was refreshing to have a few things still unresolved that you know the characters will continue to work on in the future.

I have loved this series, and have especially been waiting for London’s story since the beginning. This is such a wonderful ending to the trio’s stories, and I loved getting little updates from the other couples sprinkled throughout this story. I highly recommend this author and series, and will be looking out for more of her work in the future.
One thing to note with this book and series, however, is the utter unrealistic men these brilliant women find. By that, I mean that each male main character is famous, rich, or has an insanely cool job (lol). Despite this, though, the men do act realistic for the most part and aren’t complete unicorns.

The Hook Up Plan is the last installment of The Boyfriend Project series 🥺
This book follows pediatric surgeon London Kelly as she attends her 15 year class reunion. Of course she runs into her old nemesis Drew who was her co valedictorian. In true enemies to lovers fashion London and Drew strike up a hook up plan that is mutually beneficial. Well you see where this is going. 😆

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this series because it is based in my hometown of Austin Texas. The little mentions of Austin landmarks and restaurants are such a nice touch. I really loved London’s drive and motivation to be the best professional she can be. The romance in this book is off the charts spicy! 🥵

Highly recommend this series if you are looking for a spicy romance with a taste of Texas!

Thank you Netgalley and Hachette Audio for this audiobook advance copy.

When I read this book it was an easy five star read for me and one of my favorites reads so far this year The audiobook didn’t disappoint. Narrator Marissa Hampton did excellent job with this book. So much I want to hear more from her. The humor and banter I loved about this book came thru in her narration.

Adding my book revie.w of when I read this.

This was book three in Farrah Rochon Boyfriend Project Series. And I must say this book turned out to be my favorite in the series.

This book was about London of three women friendship that started when they went viral confront the same guy all three where dating. Dr London Kelley is a overworked, star pediatric surgeon in her last year of residence at a hospital going thru financial difficulties. She also got some health news that has here needing to have a healthier life style and ways to relax. Enter her old high school rival Drew Sullivan a big deal in the finance world who she meets again at their high school reunion. Turns out the reunion is not the only reason Drew is back in London’s life. Being back in each other’s lives let’s Drew and London see what’s missing in their own lives. The old rivalry turns into so much more than London expects.

I was going into this book just looking for a fun read because that’s what the other two books gave me. Well this one gave me that and so much more. I loved this and it’s one of my top reads of the year so far. It was hysterical, the banter between the main characters was amazing, chemistry and heat where also fantastic. There was also some emotional things that made me tear up. Farrah Rochon just made me feel so much in this book and when an author those that I can’t help but love it.

Highlights for me was the banter and chemistry between London and Drew. Also London is now one of my favorite heroines I ever read, She is amazing but also a flawed and she knows that. She tries to make herself better and live the lifestyle she should but it’s hard for her to find that balance with everything she does and goes thru. I related to her so much. The friendship between London, Samoan and Taylor carried the series as a whole and you still see it in this one. I also related to Drew in some ways and loved his character. The family issues I. The book hit close to home as well. They where well written and realistic. I can’t gush enough about this book. A fantastic series closer by Farrah Rochon. A five star read.

Thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for the arc.

Thank you Hachette audio for my gifted copy! I love series and it is bittersweet to see it come to and end. I always liked London’s character and I’m so happy to finally read her story. She is a strong, extremely hard working pediatric surgeon. London runs into her high school rival, Drew at their college reunion and they strike up a hookup bargain, although it quickly becomes more than that. I loved Drew and their relationship. I especially loved how Drew pushed London to take some time for some self care.

One of my favorite parts of this series has always been the friendships between Samiah, Taylor and London. I loved all the moments they shared and what great friends they really are. I may have teared up a little bit at the end. What a great series!

I listened to the audiobook and read the ebook. I really loved the narrator!

The Hookup Plan, book three in Farrah Rochon’s Boyfriend Project series, is far and away my favorite of the three stories.. While I enjoyed Samiah and Taylor’s stories, I was looking forward to watching London find love, and Rochon did NOT disappoint.

London, an overworked pediatrics surgery resident, is in an extended sexy dry spell, and she’s borderline hypertensive, carrying the weight of the world and her father’s expectations on her shoulders. At her fifteen year high school reunion (which she organized), she bumps into her old archnemesis, Drew Sullivan. A random hookup after the reunion, a night that was supposed to be one and done and allow London some much needed stress-relief, quickly turns into more. Instead of flying back to his fancy job in New York, Drew is staying in town to perform an audit on the hospital where London works. Despite their less than friendly history, they craft a hookup plan for the month he’s in town because their chemistry is super hot. Their non-relationship steadily creeps toward relationship territory as they get to know each other as the successful adults they are instead of the teenagers they used to be.

The audiobook was FANTASTIC. Marissa Hampton delivers an amazing performance. Since the book was written with only one POV, she is the sole narrator, and her male voices are super believable. Some women narrators voicing men are distracting, but Hampton’s range is awesome. If you’re an audiobooks fan, this is one you’ll enjoy listening to.

The Hookup Plan wraps up the trilogy’s arc in a very satisfying way. Both Taylor and Samiah have a lot of time on-page, and it’s great to see the wonderful friendship these three women forged from their date-night-nightmare gone viral. So many stories pit women against each other, and it’s refreshing to see positive, encouraging female friendships being celebrated. Plus, the story is set in Austin, Texas, an hour away from the town I grew up in, and I love all the Texas references.

Thank you to both Netgalley and Forever Publishing for my e-ARC and to Hachette Audio for my ALC.

Rating: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑 (4/5)

Before I begin with the review, I'd like to be completely honest. Rom-coms don't really appeal to me. I mostly find myself rolling my eyes every other page whenever I pick one for a break. And I can't believe I'm saying this, but this book caught me off guard. I was thoroughly enjoying myself. In fact, there were parts where I thought London and Drew's conversation was adorable! (And that is extremely difficult for me to admit.)

#Review

The Hookup Plan by Farrah Rochon is a romcom that follows the trademark enemies to lovers trope. While the trope is cliche, the novel is refreshing.

London Kelly, a successful paediatric surgeon in Austin, is central to the plot. She enjoys her work, but she needs to strike a balance so that she can relax. Therefore, her friends advise a casual hookup as a potential solution. And when she ran into her childhood nemesis, Drew Sullivan, at their high school reunion after 15 years, she had no idea he'd end up as her hookup partner. Why exactly is Drew in Austin? Would things really be as easy and straightforward as Kelly anticipates? Next up is a fun ride with Kelly and Drew in Austin.

Although the primary focus of the story is the developing romance between Kelly and Drew, I also really enjoyed reading about Kelly's strong female friendships, the dinners she has with her mother and April, and the author's constant emphasis on the value of taking care of oneself.

I adored the writing style; it's engaging and simple to follow. All of the characters were relatable and amusing to me. Kelly's portrayal was fantastic. Despite being practical, nimble, smart, and strong, she still yearns for some emotional support. It's a beautiful depiction of how, at the end of the day, everyone needs someone to lean on. The author emphasises the stress caused by the poor work-life balance in today's society and the need for routine self-care to de-stress. It's all relatable, we've been in that place.

The author has kept the tone light throughout. And to my surprise, she has successfully discussed and handled some difficult subjects in this romance novel, including domestic violence, childhood trauma, and a poor work-life balance.

Overall, Farrah Rochon's The Hookup Plan is a fantastic read that lives up to the hype. It's interesting and refreshing. I loved how the book was full of humour, friendly banter, and lovely conversations. This would make an excellent weekend read.

Final Rating: 4.5 stars

In this third installment of "The Boyfriend Project" series, Farrah Rochon focuses on London Kelley, a successfull pediatric surgeon that is trying to find balance in her life. After her best friends Samiah and Taylor convince her to have a casual hookup, London reunites with Drew Sullivan, her former high school rival and current successful millionare. After their string of casual hookups, London and Drew get to know each other more while London is trying to keep the beloved community hospital that she's currently completing her residency in open. However, starting to fall for Drew is nowhere close to being a part of her plan.

There is something about a rivals to friends to lovers story that I just devour! In this story, London and Drew start their physical relationship first, but slowly start to fall for each other when they spend time together. Drew's perspective is so sweet, and it was so clear that he cared about London and everything that she wanted to accomplish. They are there for each other when it counts, whether it's moving through grief or dealing with health issues. I recommend this for anyone looking for a Black romance that touches on care and growth. There are also a lot of cute sibling bonding moments.

I enjoyed the narrator for the audiobook, but I wished that there was dual narration with a male voice actor. Thank you to Hachette Audio and Netgalley for a copy of the audiobook ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first read by this author and I wasn't aware it's part of a series, but it can totally be read as a standalone. I really liked the premise of the plot, how strong the London was, and how she stood up for herself. Drew was a sweetheart! The one thing that didn't completely win me over was the romance between the leads. While I always appreciate having sub plots other than the romance in books, I felt that in this one they overpowered the romance. There was a lot and thus, the relationship felt a bit underwhelming. Other than that, this was a pretty enjoyable read with great narrators and good steam!

The Hookup Plan is the third book in The Boyfriend Project series. It can be read as a stand alone, but it does refer to a few things that happened to the supporting characters in previous books. This contemporary romance contains former high school rivals to lovers trope and takes place in Austin, TX. The Hookup Plan explores strained relationships, strong female friendships, self-care, and work pressure. Overall, I enjoyed this one and it was such a great way to end the series. Drew is such a swoon-worthy love interest for London! My favorite parts were when we got appearances from Samiah and Taylor and we got to see them progressing in their lives as well. Highly recommend this one those who loved the other books in the series!
