Another great installment to the Gravekeeper series, Keira, Zoe, and Mason are on another quest to help lingering spirits, except this time it is very personal. Additionally, the reclusive Crispin heir has asked them to his home for dinner, but is it a trap? Discoveries are made concerning Keira’s past, and family members are reunited while new problems arise needing resolution.
This is another stellar novel by Darcy Coates. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and it’s characters. The description that goes into settings and scenes in enthralling. Being a stickler for small details myself, Darcy never disappoints. Whenever I think I’ve found a plot hole, she always fills it, bringing a smile to my face. Her writing is brilliant! I can’t wait for the next story with Keira and friends.

This is one of the most unusual books I've ever read. I loved it! If you like books that are different, then you will love this one. It's the 3rd in the gravekeeper series, but you don't have to read the first 2. I was able to get enough back story to know what generally happened in the first 2 books. It's centered around Keira and her 2 friends Zoe and Mason. Keira can see the dead and she tries to help them move on. I love all three main characters in the book, but my favorite is Zoe. She's funny and different. I'm not sure if I should thank Darcy Coates or be irritated, because now I have to keep an eye out for the next book in the series. My list of tbr is long enough. I can't wait for the next book.
Thank you to NetGalley, Poisoned Pen Press and Darcy Coates for the opportunity to read this ARC.

I think the 180 wacky turn this took is exactly what I was waiting for. I love this story and really wish this series could last forever. I am so proud to have had a chance to read this one so early. Darcy is well deserving of all the success she has.

This was a fun book to read! Although I haven’t read the other two books prior (unaware this was a book in a series), I don’t think I ever felt lost with the characters. An engaging plot and interesting characters. I’m interested in reading the other books in the series after reading this one.

This is the 3rd book of Gravekeeper series, it can be read as stand alone. My first in this series and this book is good. I little bit lost because suddenly talk about being haunting without backstory from previous book. I love the detail in any kind of ghosts and author describe it well. The parasite kind so creapy and disgusted. Then harvesting energy from Shade kind..let them rest in peace! Oh my god.. I really enjoy this book and love all the character even Harry lol! I cant wait for the next book! Release The Shade!! Destroy Artec!!!
Thank you to NetGalley for provide this book, it is pleasure to review this book.

"Keira must decide if she should use her ability to contact ghosts to help the man who once tried to kill her.
Hunted and haunted, all she wants is to put her mysterious past behind her and move forward with her new friends as Blighty Graveyard's groundskeeper. But then she receives an invitation to dinner at the local recluse's crumbling ancestral estate. The mansion is steeped in history that is equal parts complicated and bloody - and at its center is the man who once tried to kill her, now begging for her help.
Dane Crispin believes his home is haunted - and that the unquiet dead clawing through the ancient house are after him. Unnerved but intrigued, Keira opens her second sight and discovers he's right: resentful specters cling to Dane…and if she can't find a way to stop them, threaten to consume everything in their path.
There's something dark happening in the world beyond most peoples' vision, and if Keira isn't able to sever the ties between the living and the dead, the chained spirits may not be the only things twisted beyond saving."
If it wasn't a "fate of the world" situation I'd let the ghosts have him!

Review: 3.5 stars
I have thoroughly enjoyed this gravekeeper series and was excited for this next installment by Darcy Coates.
The storyline starts strong and introduces us to Crispin Manor, where the last living descendant of the family line asks Keira and her friends, Zoe and Mason for help. Something about his home has always felt off, and he wonders if there are ghosts who have yet to pass on. Once Keira looks through the veil and into the ether, what she sees horrified her — every Crispin who has passed is leeching of Dale and his life force.
As her and her friend search for answer on how to help Dale, this is where I feel the storyline takes a turn. While I enjoyed more backstory into Mason and Keira, it shifts the storyline in a direction that takes the focus away from the potential of exploring deeper into Crispin Manor.
The second half of this book, feels like it could be its own story. It almost forgets about Crispin Manor all together and opens up to a whole new story and setting, that has a different feeling from the first half. While I enjoyed it and it’s an easy read, the ending felt rushed as it tried to come full circle to bring the two storylines together. This is probably my least favorite of the gravekeeper series to date but, the sprinkles of information and backstory in the second half that were revealed were enough to ensure that if there is a fourth installment I will continue on with the gravekeeper series.
I do look forward to exploring more of the core backstory for Keira in a fourth installment that gives more insight on who and what exactly she got involved in before she came to town with no memories from her past.
I would recommend this for those who are Darcy Coates fans or into YA gothic horror, ghost stories, paranormal thrillers. Noting, that while this is the third installment of series you don’t need to read the first two to understand book three but would recommend checking out the entire series if you started with this one!

The Twisted Dead
By Darcy Coates
⭐️⭐️⭐️
The third book in the “Gravekeeper” series picks up right where the previous left off.
Things are as complex as ever for protagonist Keira, as she struggles to discover more about her murky (and increasingly dangerous) past while balancing her growing ghostly abilities.
She’ll need the help of her friends more than ever as her mysterious enemies from the past loom closer while she works to free Dane Crispin from the clutches of some truly diabolical ghosts.
An overall solid entry, with a few spooky moments, though this was more mystery than ghost story.
While I still enjoy the story and writing style, as well as Keira’s growing confidence in her powers, I would’ve liked to see more character development in her peers. While none of the books in this series have been long, it felt a bit unfinished—too many questions posed without tying up loose ends. However, I will absolutely be continuing the series—fingers crossed for stronger plot and character development.
Thanks to Netgalley and Black Owl Books for this early edition in exchange for an honest review.

I came across Twisted Dead on Netgalley and noticing that it's by Darcy Coates I had to request it. (I only recently read my first book by her called Gallows Hill and really enjoyed it so I knew I had to read more of her books. Shortly after that I realized that Twisted Dead was actually a 3rd book in the gravekeeper series so naturally I ran to amazon and downloaded the previous two books to my kindle, The Whispering Dead and The Ravenous Dead to catch up. I really liked all 3 books, 4 star rating across the board for the series.
Lets talk about The Twisted Dead. Keira and her friends are still trying to find the truth about her past while still doing some ghost banishing. I would call this a cozy fast paced horror mystery (very light on the horror.) I really love the over the top characters like Zoe and Harry, I think Harry has become my favourite now and I really hope to see even more of him in the future books. Overall, it's just a really fun and easy to read book that I could not put down. I'm so ready for book # 4.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Poisoned Pen Press, and Darcy Coates for sharing the digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my authentic review.

This is the third book in the Gravekeeper series by Darcy Coates. There is enough detail that you could read it as a standalone, but it's better to have the backstory from the other two books. I read through all three books in three days.
The Twisted Dead continues to follow Keira, who has the ability to see ghosts. She is the groundskeeper in Blighty's cemetery. Keira gets an invitation to Dane Crispin's family mansion because he needs her help, and she has to decide whether or not to help the man who once tried to kill her.
A lot starts to come together in this book. We get some answers from Keira's past and the people who are after her. We also get to learn a little more from Mason and Zoe as Keira gets closer to them.
Darcy Coates continues to be my favorite for cozy horror books to read between the heavier stuff. I'll be waiting to find out what happens next.
This book releases on February 7, 2023. Thank you Poisoned Pen Press and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Twisted Dead is the third installment in the Gravekeeper series by Darcy Coates, and once again, Keira is up to her eyeballs in both ghosts and trouble.
The story starts when Keira finds a mysterious invitation on the doorstep of her arson-damaged cottage in the graveyard of small town Blighty. The mystery deepens when she reads the invitation and discovers its from Dane Crispin--town recluse and the man who shot at Keira when she inadvertently strayed onto his property while trying to help a troubled ghost. Her friends, Mason and Zoe, have also received invitations to a dinner party at the Crispin Estate. From the moment the friends enter the Crispin family home, ghosts are literally coming out of the woodworks in this truly twisted tale. Throw in a road trip, an evil corporation masquerading as a renewal energy power, a murderer, some morbid humor, and a pleasantly dorky cat, and The Twisted Dead quickly turns into a horror fan's kind of party.
Even if you haven't read the previous books in this series (The Whispering Dead, The Ravenous Dead), you'll like The Twisted Dead if you love paranormal thrillers and gothic-style ghost stories. Followers of the series will find this a great addition that answers some of the questions raised in the previous books as well as new ones that will quietly eat at your soul until Book 4.

I really enjoyed the first two books in this series but this one was the best by far! We are still following the story of Keira with her ability to see ghosts who is trying to help a local whilst also trying to learn more about the people hunting her and the reason why. She is accompanied by her two friends Zoe and Mason. It was nice to finally get some answers about Keira’s past and the organization who were hunting her which has been a main question in the past two books. We also got to learn more about Mason’s time at Med school and Zoe’s mother which was nice. There was so much happening in the last 1/3 of the book so of which is not resolved and will lead into the next two books. Darcy Coates is one of my favourite authors and I can’t wait for book 4!

4.5/5 stars! This was an engaging and exciting horror-lite read. I love fictional books that include supernatural elements so learning that Keira can see ghosts had me hooked from the very beginning. This made me think back to the show "The Medium" but with more flare and a more likable main character. This story drew me in and I couldn't put it down. Finished it in one setting and will be anxiously awaiting the next release.
I received an advance review copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily

Once again, Coates hit it out of the park! When I say I devoured this book quicker than either of the other two in this series, I'm not even exaggerating. I discovered Coates back in October due to a friend suggesting her books for quicker reads. I've been pleasantly surprised with every single book that I have read of hers, with the Grave Keeper books being some of the quickest reads yet.
I can definitely see this trilogy becoming a quartet and I am already excited to read a fourth if/when it becomes available. If you like cozy supernatural mysteries, this series is a must!
Thank you, NetGalley, for the opportunity to read this book. It was a pleasure to read and review this amazing book.

I am an avid fan of Darcy Coates. Her writing is spectacular and I always become immersed in her books. That was definitely the case with this third book in the Gravekeeper series. I could easily feel the spirits of the old Crispin mansion floating around as Keira tried to figure out how to force them to move on. Running from Artec was an adrenaline filled adventure that I was glad to experience through words rather than real life. When she finally discovered her role with Artec, I was just as horrified and angry. How could anyone do that to spirits? I know there will be another book and I am excited to see Keira and her friends take on Artec.

I read 'The Whispering Dead' (Gravekeeper #1) by Darcy Coates last year ONLY because I was offered an advance copy of book 3 'The Twisted Dead'. I'm not a Darcy Coates fan. The only other book by her that I'd read previously was 'The House Next Door' and I hated the main character.
The Gravekeeper series as a paranormal cozy mystery has humor, a mysterious but relatable main character, small town setting and a genuinely interesting plot. It has changed my tune on Darcy Coates. They're also free with Kindle Unlimited. I would recommend you read them in order as there is a backstory that flows throughout the series.
Keep an eye out for 'The Twisted Dead' which releases February 7th.

Big thank you NetGalley and to the publisher for the chance to review this book pre-release. Is it weird I loved this book even more than the first and second one? They just keep getting better and better! I love the characters, the growth, and the twists I didn't even see coming, and I was anticipating something! When I first got this ARC, I completely overlooked that it was third in a trilogy, so I immediately inhaled the first two, and dove into this headfirst, which was a very successful resurection from my reading slump. Cannot wait to read more of this author's work!! I will shortly be making a video review expressing my full feelings, but please check Goodreads/and IG for a more formal review.

This is the perfect blend of creepy and adventure!
I am a huge fan of Darcy Coates but I’m much more used to her darker stories. This is the third instalment in the Gravekeeper series and I have to admit, I went into this without reading book 1 and 2. Even with that, I found the characters so much fun and the story to be engaging and fast paced!
This books follows Kiera, Mason and Zoe while they continue to try to piece together Kiera’s past and her powers to see and communicate with the dead. There is also a really creepy side story that includes spectres and a big ole spooky house (Coates does this the best).
I didn’t know Darcy Coates could do comedy but wow Zoe was a highlight for me. The friendship dynamic was so entertaining and fun!
This was a wonderful read and I’m so on board for catching up on book 1 and 2 and continuing the Gravekeeper series!
Read this if you like:
- Atmospheric graveyards
- Gothic mansions
- Taking down capitalistic creeps

Much thanks to Darcy Coates, Sourcebooks/Poisoned Pen Press, and NetGalley for allowing me to read a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I ADORE this series. So far I like each book better than the last. I listened to the first two before reading Twisted just to refresh my memory. While Coates does an excellent job recapping and briefly explaining anything you need to know from previous books, you really should read Whispering and Ravenous before diving into this one. You'll enjoy them and appreciate this one more.
Of all Coates's works I've perused thus far (about half), none have felt so naturally written as this series does, as if Coates is truly at home in this story. I'm not sure if it's because she allows herself more humor here or if it's because she feels more comfortable writing these characters, but it just feels like she enjoyed writing these. And that enjoyment comes through to the reader, who in turn enjoys the book more. That's my theory, at least.
Without having read other reviews, I imagine there are two chief complaints about this book: Zoe and the fact that they spend literally half or more of it running away.
As to the latter--their constant escaping did get old, and I was long ready to move on to something more productive plot-wise by the time that part was done, but I enjoyed it nevertheless. Could have been nipped and tucked, but I forgive it.
As for Zoe--I can understand if she rubs some people the wrong way, if some readers find her annoying or even abrasive. And every now and then her antics almost cross that line for me, too, particularly when she harps on poor boring Mason. But in my opinion, Coates knows when to tug on the leash to keep her from being too much. I love that girl; she is SO FUNNY. You'll either find her comedic timing to be impeccable or horrible. She's probably my favorite thing about the series, closely followed by Daisy, closely followed by everything else.
Aside from the long bout of escaping, I don't have much to complain about. I loved the Crispin storyline, I loved the Ridgegrow storyline, I loved delving deeper into Artec and Keira's past. I love the characters, the atmosphere, the mythology. I knocked this baby out in about twelve hours. Good times!
Wait, I did want to mention something. Harry. At first his gimmick was funny, the whole goth stereotype thing, but now, three books later, it's not funny anymore. In fact, it feels irresponsible to continue laughing at him. I'm legitimately concerned about him--does he really want to be dead? Does he really enjoy nothing and no one except death? The 12 hours lying in the graveyard made me worry, but it was the 16 minute track of quiet sobbing that really got to me. At some point it crosses a line to be amused by his apparent--affected??--misery. I hope the next book addresses that. Also, I can't decide if I ship him and Zoe. On one hand, they have a lot in common; on the other, I'm not feeling much chemistry between them. I'll take it either way.
Speaking of chemistry, though--*fans face* ARE KEIRA AND MASON GOING TO KISS OR WHAT? HUG? SOMETHING? Half the tension in the book is just from the will-they-won't-they thing they got going on. I can't quite tell if Coates is avoiding it because she's not comfortable writing romance or is deliberately driving shippers crazy. Grr.
Overall, highly recommended if you're into fun paranormal mysteries. Also, while the characters are adults--presumably early/mid-twenties--adult themes are pretty scarce (which I both appreciate and resent) and it has a very YA vibe, so YA readers will probably enjoy it as well.

Oh wow, this was not the book for me. I’ve enjoyed other books by this author but this one felt hurried and slow at the same time. It was not scary or thrilling in any way but it was gross several times. I’ll definitely continue to enjoy other books by this author but this one was a miss for me.
