3.5 This is the first book I have read in this series and really enjoyed it and look forward to picking up more from this author in the future. This cute paranormal mystery follows Kiera as she starts to investigate a mansion she always found unique and. the spirits within. I thought this was a really great cute easy read with spooky vibes to me this felt more cozy than horror but still really enjoyed the banter. I feel like fans of Charlene Harris may enjoy this it had similar episodic mystery vibes which I really enjoy. The characters were really entertaining I feel like I missed some of the development since this is the third book of the series but I was still able to catch up and follow along. I really enjoy Darcy Coates writing as well it’s very engaging and fast paced. I would like to thank NetGalley and the publishers for a chance to read this story for an honest review.

Read if you like:
👻 haunted mansions/graveyards
👻 creepy, crawly scenery and atmosphere
👻 supernatural thrillers
I have read a few Darcy Coates’ before, and I really love the subject matter! They are all absolutely perfect for spooky season! This is the 3rd in the series so I was a little worried that I have not read the first two, but I can happily report that you do not need to read the previous ones; these are all standalones.
The beginning and the end were good and really pulled me in, but I have to admit the middle was a little slower than I would have liked. It almost felt like I was reading a different story in the middle 🤷🏼♀️
I will admit that the story did all come back together in the end, but I had to take off one star because the middle almost made me DNF the whole book 😬
I didn’t mind Keira, but I did not care for the other characters in the book at all; I was almost annoyed by them 👎🏻
Overall, this was not my favourite Darcy Coates 🎃 but I will definitely read more by this author because I usually enjoy them much more than I did this one.
I did not realize that this is book 3 in the series so no wonder I was confused. I had to put it down until after I get the chance to read the first 2 books .
I do like the author’s writing style though and I know I will love the series
I have to respectfully disagree with those who say this is a good read as a stand-alone. I couldn’t get into it, and thus it was a painful slog. i am not intrigued enough to want to spend more time reading the first two books in the series. While I like Darcy Coates other works (leading me to request this book), I can’t say this series is for me.
Thank you to the publisher, author, and NerGalley for the chance to read a digital galley in exchange for my honest review.
This book was a roller coaster! I couldnt see the direction it was going and it turned out to be so fun! I flew through the last half to see what happened I couldn’t put it down. I love seeing Kiera and her gang get through ghosty situations. Lots of fun from Darcy Coates!
This was a fun book. Not at all what I had expected. I was hoping for a haunted house read and instead g
It a great character driven story that drew me in more than the ghosts. I now have to go back and read the first 2 books because I didn’t realize this was a series.
Highly recommend.
Another brilliant read. I seem to be hitting the jackpot with these fantasy, witchy reads! Darcy Coates' writing had me hooked from the get go, brilliant character development throughout and an overall brilliant story
Where do I begin? Darcy Coates is one of my favorite authors and an instant buy author for me as well. I have not been disappointed in any of her books and will continuously recommend her. This book was not an exception! As the third book to this series I already knew going into this book I would enjoy it. The only thing is with this series, is that it’s definitely leaning more towards a mystery rather than a horror story. I liked Keira and I liked the plot but I do tend to stay towards more of Darcy Coates haunted houses and horror figures such as in the haunting of Blackwood house and Dead lake for example
I love this series because I get really engrossed in the spooky adventures that Kiera gets into, and it's difficult for me to stop reading the book. The supporting characters are really great. Zoe is very enjoyable, and I really like Harry. This novel is really well written and everything that Darcy Coates does is truly amazing. This book was a really fun and exciting story about strange things happening. It contained abundant friendship, and I found it highly enjoyable.
Full review to come on Goodreads and Amazon. Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for a review copy.
This is the third installment in the Gravekeeper series. I am enjoying this series immensely and cannot wait to see where she takes it from here. There are two major story lines that need to be finished up, so I anticipate at least one more book. I did feel part of the ending was rushed, but I can't say what part without spoiling a scene. I can say it was in a graveyard, since a lot happens in graveyards it won't spoil it, but you will know when you get there. I love the friends she has made, and I can't tell who is my favorite. Harry is something else and I would love to see him and the newest friend in the next book. Again, can't say who or it will give it away. What I can say is I love the mix of them and how they are all there to help her. And the romantic in me is hoping for her to finally let in the boy who so clearly loves her.
3 stars!
I read this as a standalone and my first Darcy Coates novel and I think that might have been my mistake. I think unfortunately it wasn't really my type of horror as I don't like ghosts or possession. I do think that there is a right audience for this novel-particularly people who like paranormal mysteries with quirky ghosts, but unfortunately that audience might not be me.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
This was my first book by the author and I really enjoyed it! I have been wanting to read from Darcy Coates for a while now and jumped on the chance to read this. Unfortunately, I have not read the first two in the series yet, but the book did a great job explaining what has happened previously without slowing down the plot too much. I will definitely be going back and reading the first two now! My one drawback is that this did seem to read younger and I had to make sure this was not classified as a young adult. Overall I flew through this and would definitely recommend!
It’s on me that I requested this book without knowing that it was the 3rd in a series. I feel like I was still able to enjoy the story without having read the previous books in the series. I was however expecting this to be a little more horror than it turned out to be. If cozy horror is a thing then this definitely fits into that. It was a fun read and I would probably recommend it to readers trying to branch out into the horror genre.
An author I can't get enough of after reading all her adult books I thoughtt I'd give her YA books a go, this is the third instalment.
I always have a hard time putting these books down and it's rare beautiful thing.
The characters Keria, Zoe and Mason are the kind of quirky kind protagonists we all wish to have as friends it has a very scooby gang feel to it and I love how Coates really pulls you in with her wonderful character writing.
Darcy Coates has done it again!
Yay - Book 3 is not the end of this series as I had originally thought.
Keira, Mason and Zoe are such a fun team. Keira with her paranormal abilities to see and communicate with ghosts. Zoe with her crazy ideas and positive attitude and Mason with his sheer steadiness - they are the ultimate friend group.
I love that this paranormal series has Keira helping someone each book. Not a creepy ghost story, so definitely pick this up this series if you like a little paranormal with your cozy mystery.
Looking forward to Book 4 - yay!
Darcy Coates is one of my favorite authors and I really enjoy the cozy horror she does so well. I loved the continuation of Keira's story and enjoyed all the ghosts. Coates has a way of writing stories that are both spooky but also make you laugh and this was no different!
⭐⭐⭐
I recently read The Twisted Dead by Darcy Coates and wanted to share my thoughts on this paranormal thriller...
The story follows Keira, a young woman who can see ghosts and works as a groundskeeper in a small town cemetery. When she receives an invitation to dinner at Dane Crispin’s ancestral estate, she knows she can’t refuse despite the fact that he once tried to kill her. As soon as Keira enters the mansion, she senses the presence of restless spirits, and when Dane asks for her help, Keira doesn't hold a grudge and agrees to help him.
While I found the setting of this novel suitably creepy, I felt that most of the action took place in the last 20% of the book. Getting there felt like a bit of a slog at times. Which was the same issue I had with the previous book. That said, I really enjoyed learning more about Dane Crispin and found all the characters to be very likable, particularly Keira’s friendship with Zoe and Mason.
Despite my mixed feelings about this installment in the series, I think it is worth reading. The Twisted Dead has amazing cover art, just like other books from this series, and presents an interesting storyline with intriguing characters.
Overall, while it may not have been my favorite book in the series so far, I am still onboard to see what happens next in this ongoing story.

This story is definitely one of a kind. It grabs your attention from the very first chapter. The characters are realistic and the plot is electrifying. I read through this book in one day. It was so awesome. I can't wait for the next installment.
3 1/2 stars rounded up to 4
I love Darcy Coates’ writing. She’s so talented at creating truly Hitchcock-like spooky stories with a touch of humor and romance for those who want a good scare without all the gore, unnecessary language, love scenes, etc. I enjoyed the previous two books in the Gravekeeper series and was looking forward to The Twisted Dead. I couldn’t wait to find out more about the mysterious agency after Keira along with more spooky, ghostly adventures with Mason and Zoe. I also couldn’t wait to see more development in the romance between Mason and Keira.
Keira has the unexplained ability to see ghosts and help them crossover. When she arrives in Blighty, she has no memory of her past, but with her unique abilities she’s given the job of groundskeeper for the town’s cemetery. The story picks up right where the second book ends with Keira trying to salvage what she can from her burnt cottage. She receives a mysterious invitation from Dane Crispin to help with ghostly hauntings at his estate and calls upon her friends Mason and Zoe to help. But the mystery proves a lot more complicated than first thought. As they try to unravel the cause of the hauntings, they must delve into Mason’s troubled past. Along the way they encounter people from Artec, the agency out to get Keira, and it’s touch and go as they attempt to hunt her down.
I had a hard time rating this story. I loved the relationships between the three friends. Keira’s brave, intelligent, & compassionate. Zoe’s so quirky and Mason inspires new admiration. While the story was filled with spooky ghosts and an interesting mystery, it started out a little slow for me. Once the mystery of Mason’s classmate was introduced, the story really picked up.
This book delivered on most of the questions I had going in. Keira remembers more of her past and we’re given an explanation of the Artec agency who’s after her with some down right nail-biting encounters. We also learn why Mason dropped out of medical school and gain a better understanding of Dane’s past. However, there are still a lot of unanswered questions and I’m looking forward to hopefully getting more answers in the next book. Also hoping for more romance between Mason and Keira.
I really appreciate Darcy Coates’ gothic stories and am eagerly awaiting the next book. This series would be a fantastic read for YA or cozy mystery/horror fans. While some say this can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the previous books in the series to really get an understanding of the characters and backstory. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own and voluntarily given.
