Great spooky read perfect for a fall night by a bonfire! It had me hooked right at the start all the way to the end! I wasn’t exactly scary but was defiantly creepy! It is the 3rd in the series but would work great as a stand alone book!

HOLY GHOSTS. Coates has done it again. I'm telling you this series just keeps getting better and better. The spooky gets spookier, the mysteries get more dangerous, the friendships grow stronger and the cemeteries get even more eerier than before. With The Twisted Dead you get drawn right back into Keiras story immedietly with previous plot lines still existing while new ones arise. While Blighty's pesky ghosts are still haunting, Keira is still determined as ever. Zoe is still quirky and made me laugh out loud more times than I can count, and Masons is still the broody and cautious protector we have grown to love. This tight knit trio isn't one to mess with and has conquered The Whispering, Ravenous and now The Twisted and I absolutely cannot wait to see what ghostly adventure they embark upon next.

Thank you to Netgalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this advanced eGalley in exchange for my honost opinions.

"The cemetery was only recent, but it already held hundreds of graves. Hundreds upon hundreds of graves. Hundreds upon hundreds of shades. All twisting to face her, as though they could sense her presence. Hundreds of gaping mouths screaming wordlessly. And among them, visitors strolled. Some pushed strollers. Some had come alone. Some carried flowers or other small gifts. They smiled softly and talked in hushed tones as they visited theit lost loved ones, blind to the voiceless horrors surrounding them."

Keira wakes up with nothing but the clothes on her back, no money and no memory of who she is, but what she does know is that she is being hunted by these mysterious men, who does'nt seem to hesitate killing her. She walks into the small town of Blighty, where she finds the towns pastor who takes her in, and gives her shelter in his cottage, and a job as caretaker of the local graveyard, because Keria can see and talk to ghosts.

The third book in the series takes off right where book two left off, with Keira trying to salvage her cottage after a fire. Keira, Mason and Zoe deal with the ghostly infestation of Dane Crispin, and also unravels the mystery of Keiras past with Artec. Its an atmospheric, cosy paranormal mystery, but if I hadn't known this was written by Darcy Coates I would never have guessed it. Unfortunately the characters feel either like charicatures, (Zoe and Harry), or dull and completely lacking their own personalities (Keira and Mason), but I am a character-based reader so this might just be me.

If you like cosy paranomal mysteries, with a slow burn romance, strong friendships, quirky charcaters and eerie ghosts in misty graveyards, then you'll love this series.

Thank you to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with this eARC in exchange for this honest review.

The Twisted Dead is Darcy Coates's third book in the Gravekeeper series. As a surprise to no one who follows my account, I loved it! This is my favorite series of hers! For me, the best part is the friendship between the three main characters, Keira, Zoe, and Mason. They have some funny moments and their rapport is always snappy.

In this installment, Keira and the company are helping the town recluse with a ghost problem while also further unraveling the mystery of Keira’s past.

If you aren't familiar with the series, the gist is that Keira has amnesia. In the first book, she is on the run from some men in the woods with no memory of how she got there or why they are trying to kill her. She takes refuge with Aldage, the pastor, in the small town of Blighty and becomes the groundskeeper for the graveyard. Oh, and she can see ghosts.

This was a fun, fast-paced read on the cozy side of horror. I highly recommend giving it a read. Even if you haven’t read the first two, there are enough callbacks that you wouldn’t be totally lost. It will just make you want to go back and see what you missed.

I enjoyed this, but I disagree with the reviews that say this could be a standalone. I was confused through a lot of this book having not read the first few in the series. I think I will have a better grasp of it after going back and reading the beginning of the series. But, I want to read the beginning which tells me that this book was good!

Thank you to the publisher for an advance copy. Thoughts are my own.

Keira is back!!
Oohh this one wad good!! I love all Darcy Coates books, she simply never disappoints. It was full of ghosts, intrigue, action, friendship and the way Coates writes is just so good. Once I started I needed to keep reading.
Thr book it's the third of the Gravekeeper series but it's okay if you want to read it as a standalone. Even if I do recommend the whole series because it's really good.

Although I missed the first book (this is the third) in this series, that hasn’t prevented me from keeping up with what went on. The author does a good job of including details that bring the reader up to speed.

I recently read that Coates’s books can be categorized as cozy horror/paranormal. To me, cozies were those mysteries with adorable covers (especially when cats are included) and clever titles. When I read the reasoning behind it being classified that way, it made sense. There’s a mystery, a paranormal element, humor (seriously, Zoe should moonlight as a comedian), and no gore. I think even non-horror fans could appreciate this series.

A lot of things are happening in this novel. There’s progress in the ongoing story arc of who Keira actually is. She learns more about Artec and why she might have been on the run from them. Mason’s reason for leaving medical school in his last year is revealed. And Dane Crispin may not be the baddie he seemed – he may just be misunderstood. Considering he tried to kill Keira the last time they met, she takes a leap of faith in accepting his dinner invitation and helping him.

The slow burn romance, I’m talking glacier pace here, between Mason and Keira continues. Apparently they need to be hit over the head (maybe by Zoe, who has no filter) to realize how the other feels, because it seems obvious to everyone else. Harry, a very…eccentric character, also gets more page time, and I adore his dry humor.

This isn’t the last book, so I’ll be keeping an eye out for the next one. If you’re a fan of eerie, atmospheric books with a mystery, you can’t go wrong with this series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Loved each and everyone of the books in this series! This one did not fail! Love the atmospheric writing the author masters each and every time!

Keira is trying to return to normalcy however we all know that just won’t happen! She has the sight and lives in a graveyard!

Please do yourself a favor and read this series.

This was my favorite of the series. We are really getting to know and love the characters, and the story line was the best one so far. Can't wait for the next one!

I forget how much I like this series until I get back into one of the books and get back into these characters lives. It’s so unique and easy to read. It busted my book slump and I have to say that this one left off making me want the next one ASAP.

I thought this was going to be the last book in this series but that doesn't appear to be the case.

I'm actually pretty happy about that because I am loving this series. The characters are great, I love their found family aspect and how quirky they all are. The setting is getting better and better with every book. The addition of Dane Crispin and all of his family drama really set this book off on a great foot.

We got more of Mason's backstory this time and a smidge more about Zoey as well. We also found out more about Keira's past but all three of them still have more to discover! I'm looking forward to seeing more of what kinds of spooky trouble these three friends can get into in the future.

After reading my first Coates last year I knew I needed more and this one didn't disappoint. A cozy horror that I couldn't put down. Excuse me while I go read everything she has ever written.

And here I was thinking that Darcy's Black Winter series was my favorite...but after finishing the third book in the Gravekeepers series I'm wondering if that is still true. This was such a fantastic continuation of the series and, similar to the Ravenous Dead, I loved getting to know our three main characters even more-which is something I don't say often as I normally prefer more plot focused books. Keira, Mason and Zoe are some of my all-time favorite characters and I genuinely wish I could be part of their friend group.

This book was similar to the first two in the series as it had very creepy graveyard vibes that were horrifying but felt like the very best kind, and different from them in the storylines that were explored. We find out the reason Mason left medical school, why Dane Crispin really locks himself away in his house, and discover more about Keira's mysterious past.

I loved this book and cannot wait for the next installment. Queen Darcy continues her reign. Thank you Netgalley and Poisoned Pen Press for my e-book and physical review copies!

3.5 stars. This was an adventure. The stuff with ol’ Crispy was super interesting and creepy and I really wish more of the book focused on him and his home. The harvesting cemetery was also interesting. An entire chapter wasted on trying to figure out a way to get the police after Gavin was the low point of the book. But unresolved so does that mean there’s another book? Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC

I’m a relatively new Darcy Coates Fan and adored the first two books in the series so I kinda figured I’d love this one too:)

The characters are cozy to me - like I could totally be friends with them and although the storyline gets pretty creepy, it’s not too hardcore horror - leaning a little towards YA in my opinion.

Kierra has a special gift but isn’t sure where it comes from; she can see spirits who have not yet ‘moved on’ and can’t recall her past because she literally has amnesia. Her heart of gold continues to guide her to help these lost souls, even if it spells danger for herself and her two besties, Zoe & Mason.

While this story picks up directly where book two ended, it could easily be read as a stand alone but I highly suggest the other two stories be read prior or at least soon after this one.

I really enjoyed this read and I’m already looking forward to the next in the series🤞🏼…. Instagram post link to come.

Darcy Coates has been one of my favourite horror writers for a long time. The Gravekeeper series is a venture in a different direction as it not only features ghosts, but also a beautiful friendship between three very different individuals. The Twisted Dead is the third book of the series and as expected it did not disappoint. This book was full of the answers of the questions that came up in the first and second books. Keira's mystery pursuers are finally brought to light. Mason's secret is unearthed and Zoe; well, Zoe is Zoe.
Without a doubt, this is my favourite book of the series, and one of the main reasons is that the book pick up where the second was left off. And that is always a positive in my book. you don't need to wade through a lot of unnecessary background information to get to the point.
Since the whole series is a light hearted horror, I would recommend this to readers who want to venture into horror but are afraid of starting any.
Thank you Netgalley, Poisoned Pen Press and the author for the ARC. I had an absoute blast reading this.

Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the opportunity to read and review this book.

The Twisted Dead is the third book in the Gravedigger series, continuing the story of Keira, a girl with a gift to commune with the dead.

Keira and her friends receive an unexpected invitation to have dinner at Dane Crispin's manor, where they find him in need of Keira's talents. As Keira explores the edges of her gift in an attempt to help Crispin, her journey takes her closer than ever to her mysterious past.

I really enjoyed this book. The mechanics of Keira's communication with the dead are extremely unique, keeping the book very fresh. The plot was also very compelling.

I would more describe this as a paranormal mystery than a horror book (not a bad thing, but I know some people come to Darcy Coates for more traditional horror).

Overall this was a very fun book. I will absolutely be picking up the rest of this series as it comes out.

The Twisted Dead is the third book in Darcy Coates’ Gravekeeper series. I recently read the first two so I could read this in order, and I do recommend reading in order. This is such an entertaining, wild ride series that I am really enjoying! Keira and her two new best friends get into quite a few hijinks with ghosts, spooky neighbors and tracking down the people who are after Keira. I can’t wait to see what happens next for these three!

The Twisted Dead
by Darcy Coates

review
As per usual, I didn't know this was part of a series. I was able to read it as a stand alone. It would have been beneficial to read the first 2 books to better understand why Kiera was running and what she was running from. I plan on reading the first 2 books at some point. I thought they were on KU but Darcy Coates' books do not appear to be available on KU anymore. That's a bummer.

Anyway, on to the rest of the review. This is a YA horror/paranormal book. The writing was very easy to read and it was under 300 pages.

IMO it wasn't scary or creepy but I read thrillers all day every day and work as a 911 dispatcher for a living so it takes a lot to scare or creep me out. 😄

I know Kiera was the MFC but to me Zoe stole the show. She was a HOOT! I started to cry I laughed so hard at this quote "Do you kill one person to save many or do you let the train go Clatter Clatter Splatter Splatter?" Another great Zoe quote "Absolutely NOT! I've never stayed somewhere with bedbugs before. I want to know what it's like."  "You have a zest for life that few people could hope to rival." - Mason  He was more serious but he had a few great comebacks.

If youre just getting into paranormal books this might be a good series to check out.

On my scale I'm marking this one as a Borrow. It is worth the read and laughs but you might not re-read it in the future.

Read this book if:
👻 you are newer to paranormal books
👻 you want to laugh while reading
👻 you are looking to read a shorter novel

Thank you to Darcey Coates , Poised Press for an eARC of this book. It is OUT NOW!!

This book has been a long time coming and it was worth the wait. This is the third installment in Darcy Coates’ Gatekeeper series and easily my favorite. These characters are like old friends at this point. I’ve been rooting for Keira since The Whispering Dead (Book 1).
Keira and her friends have gotten an invitation to dinner at Dane Crispin’s house. What follows is delightful. I feel like this book can stand alone, although it does enhance the experience to have read the previous two.
This book was a quick and fun read that has everything from delightfully creepy ghosts to Daisy the adorable kitty. I love all the characters, particularly Zoe and Harry. Both are good friends to Keira and add a bit of heart as well as comic relief.
I really hope that we haven’t seen the last of these characters and their ghosts.
