This is my first book by this author and I didn’t know what to expect, except to (hopefully) get spooked. This is the third installment of the Gravekeepers series and it seems like it would’ve been better to have read those in order. References were made to prior events, so I was a bit confused at first.
I enjoyed the supernatural elements of this book and how the mc was able to see and contact ghosts. I do have to admit that I’m a bit disappointed in how the story turned out overall. This book fell flat and probably just wasn’t for me. It had more of a YA thriller/cozy mystery vibe to me and just wasn’t at all what I expected or hoped for.
Like the second book in this series, this book does a really good job of recapping the story so far. It brought me up to speed quickly and easily, so I could get back into this ever intriguing storyline!
I really enjoy reading about Keira, her evolving powers, and the events her and her friends get tied up in. The events of this book were very interesting and kept me on the edge of my seat. We’re so close to learning the truth about Keira’s past—I’ll be patiently waiting for more in the series!
Thank you to Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley for the ARC!
I was actually unaware this was the third book to a series. I thought i might not be able to get into it. Luckily, there were alot of mentions to things that happened prior. Especially on Keira, and her amnesia which also allows her to see the dead. Events and characters from previous books were also mentioned so i wasn't too lost. I was expecting more horror for an adult book and as a whole, it does seem more like a YA novel. I might read the first two to really get into the series, as it seems there might be more coming with Keira's backstory slowly unravelling.
Keira is back in this third instalment of Gravekeeper. I really liked the fact that this book just started and took off right away. The characters are so unique and I absolutely adore Zoe and Mason. Harry was a nice little addition to the team this time around.
I loved the haunted house thrills and how the ghosts came across in this one, really twisty. Still a bit on the YA side my adult side would have loved a bit more creepy and scary segments. Darcy's writing style makes it easy to love this book and look forward to the next instalment.
Thanks you Netgalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.
Darcy Coates never lets me down. Yet another suspenseful page turner. I loved Keira’s character, and nothings better than a spooky mansion!
Disclaimer: I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Twisted Dead is a YA book, really aimed at younger YA, if not preteen. A few things I didn’t realize is that it was such a youngish book and that it was the 3rd book in a series. NetGalley/publishers need to do a better job of letting readers know. This is the third time I have requested a series book without realizing (or having read the other instalments)
Okay now that I’ve said my bit about that…..The author did a really good job of catching you up in relaying enough information about the previous books that although it would have been better to have read the others, there wasn’t anything in the book I wasn’t able to catch up on.
Keira and her two friends Mason and Zoe are trying to figure out where Keira came from having come to their town with the amnesia and the ability to see ghosts and spirits.
This book focuses on two main plot lines. The towns founding family only has one member left. Dane Crispin has sent an invite to Keira and her friends to dinner with the hopes she can help him with a ghost problem.
The second plot line was focused on Keira’s background and backstory as the group races to find out more about the company who owns the vans that keep showing up and trying to track and grab Keira.
This was a quick read for me and has a great vibe for the younger audience. I’m giving this one 3 stars and would recommend for right audience.

Unfortunately, I am not sure this author is for me. I have tried all 3 books in this series and cannot get engaged in the story. I had really high hopes but it was a struggle. I recommend for others, just not me.
I am a dummy and didn’t realize this was part of a series. Despite that I thought the writing was wonderful and relatable. I really liked Keira! She was a bad ass. I can’t wait to read more by this author.
I was so excited to re-enter the Gravekeeper world and see what new mystery Keira was going to solve.
The characters in this series are all so fun and unique. They keep the story light and fun even when some dark things are happening. Such as when Keira touches a death imprint and sees how someone died, then you have Zoe spouting off some nonsense. It helps break up the tension.
I also loved that we got to see more of Dane and Harry. I had a feeling from book 1 that both of them would have a bigger role at some point in the series. I hope in the future we see them become a bigger part of the friend group. They add a fun element to the group.
This series gives me Ghost Whisperer vibes, so if you liked that show you would love this! This book is marketed as horror, and I feel like it is a great introduction to the horror genre. There are some dark things mentioned and it is full of suspense, but it isn't terrifying to read.
I cannot wait for the next book in the series. I am dying to know more about Keira's past and what happened to cause her to lose her memories.
This is the third installment in The Gravekeepers series. The good thing is you don’t have to necessarily read the first or second book to read this one (as it could be a standalone,) Although, it's more fun / interesting to see where Keiara has been and truly what she is, the backstory would make this one more fulfilling. I can't wait to read more Darcy Coates books!

I haven’t know this was the third installment in the series until after I requested this on Netgalley so obviously I had to go and read the first two before I even started reading this. (Go check out my reviews for The Whispering Dead and The Ravenous Dead.)
I can once again say this can be read as a standalone. I would recommend you read the pervious books. I cannot help but laugh as I read all three books of this series in one day. From reading very little books on my free time to reading three books in one day is really funny. Lets hope I can keep this streak up. I can say if I cannot find anything that catches my fancy then I would go and reread some fanfiction. Yess people I love reading fanfiction especially crossovers but anyway back to this review. Each book in the series just get better by each page and I think it is my favorite so far.
You have ghosts and romance. Though this romance is going at a snails pace but I don’t care because horror / paranormal mystery should not actually be about romance. I noticed that almost all of Darcy Coates books are cozy and quick reads. I like this because I find that I am struggling to keep reading any heavy books lately so I love all the cozy horror mystery that Darcy writes. There was plenty of adventures and we found out more about the organization that’s after Keira and why they might be after her. We also found out why Mason left from studying to become a doctor and a bit more on Zoe as well.
This was such a gem to read and I would recommend it to all Horror lovers who loves reading about ghost stories.
I read all three of the books in this series and overall have enjoyed them! These books are spooky, but also feel almost like a "cozy mystery" to me--which is not a bad thing! I really appreciate how the author brings the characters to life--all of the characters in the book have unique personalities and affects. I especially enjoy Zoe and Daisy the cat.
This series for me has been fun and fast-paced; I look forward to seeing more by this author and continuing to read future books in this series!

This is the third installment of the Graveskeeper series featuring Keira and her friends and while I don’t necessarily think that you have to read the first two books in order to understand what is going on, I do think it helps the storyline and connecting with the characters a lot more! I really like Keira and her friends as they definitely will keep the reader entertained throughout the novel! I also love how when we get one mystery solved, another one pops up and the ending sets the reader up for the next book! I love Darcy Coates writing, as it keeps you turning the pages and wanting to know what is going to happen. While I wouldn’t say the books are really scary, per se, there is a paranormal aspect to them that I love and will give you chills at times!
This review will be posted to my Instagram blog (read_betweenthecovers) in the near future!
Keira has the ability to see the dead. She likes to help others when they have problems.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC and to the publisher Poisoned Press.
Keira is a young woman with no memory of who she is and where she came from. All she remembers is waking up in the woods outside of Blighty. Eventually, she finds her way to the parsonage where she is taken in by Pastor Adage. They decide she can stay in the empty groundskeeper cottage in the cemetery. It is there that she discovers she has the ability to interact with ghosts.
This is Keira’s background as we find ourselves in book three, The Twisted Dead. To say more would give away the plots of the first two in this series. Suffice it to say, this book builds off of the previous books in a satisfactory manner.
In this book, Keirra’s stalwart friends—Zo and Mason--follow her as she makes strides in understanding her past, and her powers. This often leads to dangerous situations where Keirra often finds abilities and strengths, she didn’t know she had. We learn more about her two sidekicks which nicely fleshes out what were previously flat characters.
I suggest you read the first two books of the series—The Whispering Dead, and The Ravenous Dead—before reading this. The author gives away spoilers to the previous books which may ruin the series if you choose to read them. Also, in total, all three books span only one month of Keirra’s story.
This is a fun and quick read. The relationship—and dialogue--between the three friends is believable and filled with humor and understanding. If I were to make one critical remark, it would be the overuse of trite, repetitive phrases which often seem to be used as filler.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Poison Pen Press for the opportunity to read and review this book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of The Twisted Dead by Darcy Coates. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thanks to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this ARC.
Keira was a likable protagonist and the story was action packed. Maybe a bit too action packed. I often felt like there were no moments that just sat and settled before the next ghost showed up. My feelings might also be influenced by this being the first book in the Gravekeeper series I have read. So I was dumped in the middle and had to catch up on what was happening. I give this book 3/5 stars and recommend people start from book one if they are going to start this series.
This one was not for me.
Thank you NetGalley for providing a copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
The third installment of this series was by far the best and blew me away! Fast paced creepy and omg! If you haven’t started this series run do not walk you will not be disappointed. Now to wait till the next one.
I’m enjoying the Gravekeeper books so much, and The Twisted Dead is another wonderfully cozy horror addition.
In the third book, Keira and her friends Zoe and Mason are invited to dinner at his creeptastic mansion by local recluse Dane Crispin. Dane has heard about Keira’s ability to see ghosts, and he believes his ancestral home is haunted.
What Keira sees in Dane’s home sets her on a mission to learn more about herself, her powers, and the mysterious company trying to kill her.
Keira and her friends are as hilarious and sweet as in the previous books, and I loved getting more glimpses of how ghosts work in this world. This book is a bit heavier on action than on the creepiness, and it’s a fast-paced, fun read.
The author gives enough information that this book can be read without the first two, but I do recommend reading the whole series.
Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for my review copy of this book.
For some reason I missed that this was the 3rd book in a series. No worries though---enough was shared for the story to make sense. I liked the friendship between Zoe, Mason, & Keira. It wasn't a scary book but the paranormal aspect was interesting. I would read more in this world.
