Something I loved about this book was how funny it was from the very beginning. If you can make me laugh from the first chapter, you definitely have my attention! Also, an adorable hedgehog? Say less! One thing I love when reading a book is getting attached to side characters. Kat's friends where hilarious and smart and I loved them so much!

The main reason I'm not giving it a full 5 stars is because I found the end was a bit long for me. I think it could of certainly been 50 pages shorter. However, it still didn't take away from the humor and wonderful journey that the story portrayed. As I was reading it, I couldn't stop thinking how much I'd love to see this turned into a movie. It has all the things for the perfect rom-com! Overall, I would happily recommend this book!

If all I got from a breakup was a pet hedgehog, I might not mind the breakup. In Too Wrong to Be Right, Melonie Johnson introduces readers to Kat Kolawski - who is determined she is done dating until she finds the one. This book is full of a fun cast of characters and some truly ridiculous hijinks. It's for rom com lovers who don't mind a bit of the absurd.

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for sharing this book with me. All thoughts are my own.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and thought it had some great laughs and sweet romantic parts. I did find it slow and missing that spark to grab my interest. It’s the good ole friends to lovers troupe, with the female main character swearing of men, then meeting the perfect guy to only friend zone him. It didn’t stray far from the formula and wasn’t very memorable.

This is a delightful rom-com, a bit of stretch at times but still hilarious. The characters are likable and the story is enjoyable. I loved the hedgehog and the foul-mouthed bird and while the hero was supposed to be a cinnamon roll, he came across a little bit as a pushover. And the heroine is a bit wimpy for my taste, but they make sense together. A nice, light-hearted read.

Thank you so much for the ARC!
While I have loved this author before, this wasn’t my favorite.
I found Kat to be a little obnoxious and unreasonable.. Mike was for the most part bland.
Were there swoon worthy moments? Yes. Did I like the book? Yes. But them as a couple just wasn’t it for me.

In the enchanting world of "Too Wrong to Be Right," author Melonie Johnson weaves a captivating tale that dances between the lines of love, friendship, and self-discovery. Kat Kowalski, a spirited flower shop owner with a penchant for quirky pets, finds herself at a crossroads after a breakup. Determined to forge a different path, she stumbles upon the charismatic Mick O'Sullivan, a man whose warmth and charm are as undeniable as they are unconventional.

In this delightful romantic odyssey, Johnson skillfully crafts a narrative that transcends the typical love story. Kat's journey, fueled by a checklist for her ideal partner, takes unexpected turns when Mick, the seemingly wrong fit, becomes an irreplaceable force in her life. The chemistry between them is palpable, offering readers a front-row seat to a dance of emotions that is both heartwarming and humorous.

What sets this novel apart is Johnson's ability to infuse the story with a rich tapestry of characters, each adding their own splash of color to the narrative canvas. From Mary-Kate and Laura to the endearing Jojo the hedgehog, the ensemble cast breathes life into every page. Even the quirky grandmothers contribute a blend of wisdom and wit, making them as unforgettable as the central duo.

Johnson's narrative flair extends beyond the conventional, incorporating rom-com references, punny banter, and unexpected scenarios that keep the reader grinning from ear to ear. The hedgehog has a costume designer, the meet-cute involves a casket, and supportive friends are ever-ready with a rom-com and a cocktail recipe. It's a symphony of laughter and heart that resonates throughout the novel.

"Too Wrong to Be Right" is not just a love story; it's a celebration of embracing the unexpected, redefining what we think we want, and finding joy in life's quirks. With its perfect blend of humor, heart, and a touch of the unconventional, this book stands as a testament to Melonie Johnson's prowess in crafting a story that will leave readers smiling long after the final page. If you're seeking a literary adventure that defies expectations and sparks joy, look no further—this is the romantic escapade you've been waiting for.

After her latest jerk of a boyfriend dumps her (and ditches her with his pet hedgehog), florist Kat Kowalski is done chasing after Mr. Wrong. With her two best friends moving on to more serious relationships, she’s ready to stop repeating the same mistakes that are leaving her stuck in the single lane. Armed with a list of qualities for her perfect Mr. Right, Kat swears off dating until she finds him.

Then in a meet-disaster involving a corpse and a salty cockatoo, she stumbles across Mick O’Sullivan at his family's funeral home. Their immediate chemistry warns Kat to keep things platonic; after all, following her heart never worked out in the past, and this time she’s determined to listen to her head. But can Kat and Mick be just friends?

I was initially drawn to Too Wrong to Be Right by the cover, and then knowing one of the characters would be a florist had me hooked. I thought the synopsis sounded fun and entertaining and definitely had the potential to be great.

What I liked:
• the meet cute. Kat and Mick meet in a funeral home (his workplace), which is so unique. It was messy and awkward, and of course, I was here for it.
• the initial interactions. The witty banter of their initial interactions had me really invested in the beginning. Everything was cute and fun... until it wasn't.
• the occupations. Both Kat and Mick had interesting jobs. Being a florist is something that has always interested me, and I think there is so much to learn about what the funeral business is like.
• the animals. The hedgehog and the grumpy cockatoo were equally entertaining, adding a little bit of fun to the storyline.
• the side characters. For me, they were the star of the show with this one. Mick's family was great, and Kat's friends were fantastic.

What I didn't like:
• the love triangle. The fact Kat has chemistry with Mick and yet decides to try to make things work with his brother, Joe, despite not having any chemistry just felt silly and dumb. I get it all works with the title, but Mick and Kat together just had some much potential.
• the third act conflict. I won't say too much so as not to give everything away, but it just left me rolling my eyes.

Overall, this one started out good, yet my interested waned as it went on and it ended up feeling longer than it need to be. There were definitely some great moments and secondary characters, but it just dragged longer than need be. I would still be willing to give this author another go, but maybe I'd lower my expectations a bit knowing what I know now.

I wasn't able to finish this. I could not get the motivation to read it because it just isn't what I prefer to read. Unfortunately, it did not work for me.

I was initially drawn to this because of the gorgeous cover. Too bad it was wasted on this disaster of a book, though.

Too Wrong to Be Right had two of my least favorite tropes, insta-love and love triangle, both of which were introduced pretty early on. I loovedd the idea of a funeral home owner and a florist, but it just wasn't giving the connection that I was expecting.

The writing felt sloppy and rushed. I had a hard time finishing this.

Thank you Griffin and NetGalley for the ARC!!

Too Wrong To Be Right was just as fun a read as Too Good To Be Real. I missed the corgis, but we got an entirely different menagerie of animals in this one! Johnson's humor hits just right and I loved the banter. I didn't love the lack of communication on Kat's part, and found her a bit hard to root for. Overall a good lighthearted read!

Was it just me or did Melonie Johnson give Moose Springs from Sarah Morgenthaler's books a shout-out?

I loved this book and really liked the overall story! They were really relatable characters and I liked the authors writing. The reason it only got 4 stars is because it’s a slow burn and I’m not a huge fan of those.

Overall I enjoyed the plot line and book 😊

Melonie Johnson has been on my radar for a while. If you don't follow her social media accounts, do yourself a favor and follow her, she's fantastic. When I saw this book on NetGalley, I jumped at the chance to read something she'd written. Unfortunately, life got in the way, and I've only gotten to it now. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Honestly, I liked it. Kat and Mick are both relatable characters who aren't quite sure about who they are, what they want in life. Kat has a dream of owning her own flower shop, and works at a florist, for now, and Mick works for his family's funeral home. Overall, the story has a lot of witty banter and laughs, particularly with the scene-stealing animal sidekicks.

The story is a bit of a slow burn and once she told him to go away, and then got upset when he actually listened to her, and honored her words, it started to lose me. For my part, I liked Mick a heck of a lot more than I did Kat, based entirely on maturity levels. He might be a bit adrift, but he communicates better.

In general, I think this is a solid rom-com, and will appeal to anyone looking for a fresh voice in the market. Happy reading!

Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

I have to say, every book I've read by Melonie Johnson has been a good time and this one is no different. The premise of asking the guy you clearly like to be your wingman is a great trope and I loved the twists and turns of his family owning a funeral home. There were moments that brought me such joy but then her being the last single friend was emotional and this book just really ran the full spectrum of emotions. I truly truly enjoyed this one and I'm going to be adding Melonie to my 'auto-read' list.

I really enjoyed this book! Love the characters and the growth of the characters. I read this book in one day. I would definitely recommend this book.

I enjoyed this romance. I thought the writing was witty and I liked the story. It was a pretty classic romance with some classic miscommunication, but not too much that it started to feel redundant. My biggest complaint was the 3rd act breakup. I find that trope to be pretty annoying, but OK when it is done well and adds to the plot. The 3rd act breakup in Too Wrong to Be Right, however, did not feel crucial to the plot. I thought the reasoning for them not moving forward was valid, but the way Kat just expected Mick to know what she was thinking despite telling him the whole time he was not what she was looking for and that she just wanted to be friends with him, felt unfair. Also, just expecting him to show up to the wedding when she never even tells him when it is!? That felt ridiculous to me. Overall, though, I did enjoy this story and thought it was a sweet romance. Also can't say I have ever read a romance where one of the main settings is a funeral home.. definitely an interesting touch!

I want to start by saying that overall, this was such a cute story. I loved the quirkiness of Kat's friend group. They felt so real and relatable. I also enjoyed Kat and Mick's initial interactions. However, the book just wasn't my cup of tea when I got to the semi love triangle with Mick's brother. I tend to avoid books with that trope as it's not my favorite. Kat deciding to pursue his brother just didn't sit right and kind of gave me the ick. That is more a personal preference thing, though. This was my first Melonie Johnson book and I've heard great things about her previous work and will definitely look into them.
