My toddlers enjoyed this book through NetGalley. It’s a short story that promotes sharing and friendship. Would recommend
The Green Umbrella by Jackie Azua Kramer is a delightfully joyful picture book that both children and adults will adore. It is, at its core, a story of friendship, and the animal characters presented will instantly win your heart as each explains how they utilize a simple green umbrella in their own lives. The gorgeous illustrations by Maral Sassouni almost leap off of the page and are charm personified. Highly recommended.
Many thanks to NetGalley and North South Books Inc. for an ARC.
Very cute story about how with a little imagination an umbrella can be many things to different people. The illustrations were well done. I asked my 4 year old son what he liked most about this book and he responded enthusiastically “everything!”
An adorable story about friendship! This book reminded me of a kids version of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. They all share an umbrella that serves its own unique purpose and bonds the animals as friends.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Green Umbrella by Jackie Kramer to my stepson. It was a fun read about an elephant who finds himself meeting new animals who believe the umbrella is their's. The illustrations by Maral Sassouni were also delightfully whimsical! I'm honestly excited to find more of her work, as it was vibrant and beautifully textured.
With many characters to impersonate, and a lovely rhythm, this is one I definitely recommend to share with young readers.
I read this with my niece today for Book Lovers Day and what a delightful read!
This sweet book follows an elephant and their green umbrella, and all the other adventures that green umbrella has had with other friends!
It’s a lovely story of imagination, sharing, and learning to make new friends! The illustrations are what make this book perfect! It stunningly brings to life all the animals adventures!
My daughter loves rain, and enjoys marching around in wellies, umbrella in hand, no matter the weather. The moment she saw the cover (and the cute mice inside), we had to sit down and have a look.
At first, the story sounded similar to Suteyev's Mushroom in the rain: there's room for everyone. However, the message goes way beyond this. It's OK to see the same umbrella differently - it's a boat, a crane, a tent or a flying machine. It can be anything you want, your imagination is the only limit.
Lively illustrations, cute characters, and an important lesson on friendship, openness and creativity.
Thank you NetGalley and North South Books for this Advance Review Copy.
Such a cute way to show kids how to use their imaginations, share, and make friends. I loved this book!
This is story of an elephant who has a green umbrella. When it's raining a hedgehog comes and asks the elephant for his boat (referring to the umbrella) and then a cat comes along with few other animals. This was such a sweet book and I loved how everyone became friends in the end. A very adorable story about an umbrella and friendship. The illustrations are beautiful and colourful, and I loved it. Overall, it was a sweet and humorous book. Will definitely recommend!
