I loved Nora Goes Off Script and I would have likely rated this five stars if I hadn't read that previously. I just felt that I didn't know Wyatt enough by the end of the book and I really feel like I needed more information. But I loved the premise, her rules, and the realistic characters.

I loved Sam’s and Wyatt’s story. It made me nostalgic with every flashback scene to how they got started to how they got back together in the present. I ended up enjoying the book and it reminded me so much of Carley Fortune’s book, Every Summer After.

“If you’ve loved someone your whole life, it kind of makes sense that you’d love them forever...”

Ugh….does this not just scream…..SUMMER…….🔥❤️ 🎵☀️🏝 and Wyatt up in the tree house playing his guitar…..this cover….it’s PERFECTION……and where are all my EVERY SUMMER AFTER fans?! I know you’re out there, because boy do I have the book for you, it’s got all those same vibes and even a whopping cover endorsement from @carleyfortune herself, I decided on a whim this morning to start reading a digital ARC of Annabel Monaghan’s forthcoming SAME TIME NEXT SUMMER….and then before I knew it it was 2 o’clock and I was still laying in bed and the book was over and I was having a moment with all the feels and emotions and just…..pure summer perfection rolled up in a book. You will love Sam and Wyatt’s journey and read it in a few hours just like I did, hopefully laying on the beach next summer, I think I’m calling it already as THE love story of 2023. Loved loved loved Annabel Monaghan ‘s Nora Goes Off Script this year, but omg this is even better, and it’s coming your way June 6, 2023…..

I absolutely loved NORA GOES OFF SCRIPT and Annabel Monaghan has done it again! In SAME TIME NEXT SUMMER the author again shows her exceptional and clever wit and her wonderful ability to draw fully-formed and interesting characters. She also delivers a magnificent romance to her readers. I loved Sam and Wyatt's story and how the whole thing came together. And there were so many secondary characters I wish I could have spent time with. Would love to see this one as a movie!! I finished this book with a huge smile on my face and I can't wait for Monaghan's next book!

Annabel Monoghan's debut novel, NORA GOES OFF SCRIPT, was one of my favorite books of 2022, so I was eager to read her new book, SAME TIME NEXT SUMMER.

This book is a second-chance romance that follows Samantha (Sam) and Wyatt, childhood friends that grew up spending their summers together at their families neighboring beach houses. Sam goes from being the annoying little sister next door, to being Wyatt's teenage girlfriend, to having her heart completely shattered when Wyatt breaks off their relationship. Years pass and both Sam and Wyatt have grown into their adult lives. Both are successful in their chosen careers. Both have moved on to other relationships, with Sam planning her upcoming wedding. A trip back to the beach with her new fiancé to scout out her childhood haunt as a possible wedding venue brings Sam face-to-face with Wyatt. She realizes that though her life has moved on, her heart still skips a beat when she's around Wyatt. What should she do?

I enjoyed reading Sam and Wyatt's story. It was an easy, breezy book that would make a great beach read for the summer. If you enjoy second-chance romance stories, this one is for you.

The perfect Summer read, that will make you want to sit next to the water and feel the sand between your toes. A young summer love that ends before it could begin, then years later when Sam is finally moved on and marrying the perfect guy her young love comes back into her life. Can you truly find the love of your life at 16 years old?

I can totally see this book becoming a movie.

"If it were me —and it was me, so I know—I'd want you to be everything you could be. I wouldn't be putting rules and constraints around you, I'd just love you and let you move through the world the way you wanted to."

Excuse me while I just —

*screams*

Give me ALL the second-chance romance, childhood friends to strangers to lovers, set-in-summer stories! ALL OF THEM!

I absolutely loved this. I adored Monaghan's 2022 release, NORA GOES OFF SCRIPT, and SAME TIME NEXT SUMMER was one of my most anticipated reads for this year, so I was extremely excited to get an early e-ARC. I flew through it. I marked it up like crazy.

This book had everything I want and love in a story -- it was emotional and beautifully, beautifully written, with compelling characters and a progression that felt natural and resonant. And it was swoony as hell. Loved every page, and wish I could read it for the first time all over again.

You've got me, Monaghan! Consider me president of your fan club.

A huge thank you to G.P. Putnam's Sons and NetGalley for the e-ARC in exchange for my honest, unbiased review.

5 Stars - When I tell you I FLEW through this book in less than 24 hours, I seriously could not put it down.

I'm very much a sucker for a second chance romance, especially, when it has flashbacks of the first time the couple fell in love - and this book did not disappoint. For fans of Love and Other Words and Every Summer After, I think you'll love this book as much as I did.

Sam, a 30-year-old woman is content with her life and everything in it is "perfect" according to her. She has the perfect fiancé, whom she had the perfect met-cute with and the perfectly boring job that she is good at. Everything in her life is under control. However, she learns that perfect may not be all it's cracked up to be when she visits her families beach house, and crosses path with the man who promised her forever when she was a teenager.

Wyatt and Sam were each other's first everything. They spent every summer together for most of their childhood and eventually their friendship blossomed into first love. They had their lives planned out from what they were doing after high school graduation, to where they were going to get married. That is until one terrible night when both of their worlds get turned upside down.

"Putting a person back together isn't easy, but if you're smart about it you can reassemble yourself in a totally different, better way." - Sam

After Wyatt breaks her heart, Sam becomes a totally different person, one who pushes her creative impulses aside and focuses on numbers and data. She chooses the safe path in life. Which is how she's achieved her perfect life. But when they meet again, Wyatt see's through the perfect, safe, vanilla life that she's living and wants to see her live again.

The writing in this book was *chef's kiss* and brought me right into Sam's world. Even though it's told from a dual perspective you mostly see only hear from young Wyatt, which keeps present day Wyatt as much a mystery to the audience as he is to present day Sam. It's one thing when an author can make you feel for a character, but to make the audience feel both sides of a heartbreak is rare. (view spoiler) I would highly recommend this book to anyone thinking of reading and and I think Annabel Monaghan might become an instant read for me.

Ok - this is a second chance romance and I struggle with them.

It follows Sam as she returns to her family’s summer home for a week to look at a wedding venue with her fiancé. The trip brings back memories of her childhood and first, all encompassing love, Wyatt. During her trip, Sam and Wyatt reconnect. The trip also releases something in Sam which leads to a big change.

I enjoyed how the first part gave up a jump between past and present. I liked seeing how Sam and Wyatt first fell apart to see how it impacted Sam in such an intense way. I still struggle with how she held onto that heartbreak for so long. But perhaps that is more my cynicism. And honestly her reaction to reconnecting with Wyatt was probably more due to how the therapist helped her progress through the breakup.

I really liked seeing Sam come to discover that she wanted/needed a change in her life. I liked seeing her reconnect with her past and the element of being freer.

I enjoyed the relationship with Wyatt, but I felt like it was simultaneously a focus but also side part to the story. It was almost more of a catalyst for Sam to reevaluate her life.

I enjoyed this one a lot and can see it being another great beach/summer read.

This was so cute. It exceeded my expectations as a follow up (but not related) to Nora Goes Off Script. I loved the family elements & how the love story was woven between two dominant time periods. It was also a quick, sweet read that reminded me of young love and a summer spent at the beach. Absolutely recommend this!

I really enjoyed this book by Annabel Monaghan, which gave me Every Summer After vibes, which is a great thing! I loved reading the flashbacks of the main characters, and I felt like the pacing of the story was good and engaging. I would highly recommend this book and look forward to her next books!

Thank you Putnam Books for my advanced copy!

Thank you to NetGalley for a digital ARC. I am new to the romance genre and I loved this. So much. Sucked me right in. I felt like I was Sam and Wyatt was my lost first love. The writing was incredible. Theres not much to say, I loved every bit!

Sam and Wyatt embody a little bit of each of us who have ever fallen in love at 16 including perfectly capturing the idea that at 16 you're convinced that you'll never feel any of the emotions you're feeling ever again. It's relatable and uniquely personal. However, Monaghan's novel isn't just a feel-good-romance-novel. There's a somberness interwoven that so many of us feel as we ourselves put years between our first loves and first dreams for our lives.

This isn't a coming of age novel but rather a finding a confidence to yourself in your late-20s/early-30s. I'm willing to guess this is the next must-read for us young millennials. I can't wait for it to come out to discuss with all my friends!

A huge thank you to @NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book - everyone add this to your list!

Same Time Next Summer is a summer fun romance entwined with the realistic issue of how easy it is to lose yourself in a relationship. I absolutely loved this story and its characters. The back and forth writing between present and past kept me drawn in impatiently waiting for the next will they/won’t they moment. I fell in love with Annabel Monaghan as an author with Nora Goes Off Script and she has simply kept my love for her alive with this book.

Annabel Monaghan is quickly becoming an auto-buy author for me. Her writing style is seriously close to perfect for my reading tastes, and I ended up liking Same Time Next Summer even more than Nora Goes Off Script which I also loved and recommended to everyone I know last year.

This alternates between Sam's life spent at the beach on Long Island 10+ years ago with the boy next door she's madly in love with and present day where she's engaged to someone almost exactly opposite of him, in a job she actually hates, and living a life she never saw for herself at 16.

I absolutely loved the way this unfolded, and the "big issue" at the end felt a lot more realistic than other books I've read with this similar childhood romance trope. There wasn't really a miscommunication trope in this book like there was in Nora Goes Off Script, and that was much appreciated!

Highly recommend picking this up once it comes out on June 3, 2023. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC - all opinions are my own!

I received an ARC from NetGalley of this which I was thrilled about.

Nora Goes Off Script was one of my favorite reads last year.

This solidifies A.M. as an autoread for me. I finished this in one sitting.

This isn’t necessarily an original story set-up: girl spends her childhood summers at a beach, girl falls in love with boy, life happens, and they come back to said beach as adults to discover maybe it really wasn’t that long ago but somehow they got lost along the way. However, A.M. made this story her own and I fell in love with her characters.

I love how she writes. It is somehow atmospheric and humorous with a subtle dry wit. It captured the feelings of summers on the beach so vividly. Her characters feel real and her drama feels real. There are no contrived scenarios. Her conflict and resolution just happen without too much fanfare and it feels so human. This one was more angsty than her last one but I feel second chance romances are. Told with a bit of dual POV and flashbacks to childhood summers, this story was captivating.
If you liked her last book or you like Emily Henry’s People We Meet on Vacation, this needs to go on your TBR.

Nora Goes Off Script was one of my top 10 reads of 2022, so I had high expectations for this book. It did not disappoint! I stayed up way past my bedtime finishing it. I love a good second chance romance and bonus points if there’s a friends to lovers element. This got alllll the points!

Sam is a former free spirit who is engaged to a buttoned up dermatologist, Jack. They return to her family’s summer house only to find that Sam’s childhood sweetheart is also in town and living next door. The story is told from both the past and present perspectives and I loved how this unfolded. My favorite thing about this book was the main character’s inner debate about teen love and whether it was an infatuation/addiction or the real thing. I found that super relatable, I mean, haven’t we all been there?! The supporting characters in this book are also so fun and added such depth to the story. Thanks for NetGalley for my ARC. Make sure you grab your copy when it comes out on 6/6/23!

This book is such a cute, summer story! It gives strong summer vibes, and is a perfect beach read. The way the story was told really brought me into the beach setting and made me feel like I was there with the characters. This story offered a lot of reflection on being true to yourself by way of the main character, Sam, learning how to chase what she really wants from life. I enjoyed how the story flipped between then and now and offered both Sam and Wyatt’s POVs, but I would’ve loved more from Wyatt’s side. Overall this was a sweet book about high school lovers finding their way back to each other!

Thank you to Net Galley, the author, and publisher for this ARC!

4.5 stars

Thank you NetGalley & Penguin Group Putnam for the ARC!

I really enjoyed this story of summers and second chances. I liked the dual POV paired with the dual timeline, giving the reader glimpses into the characters lives in terms of “then” and “now”. I found myself quickly invested in the characters and even teared up a bit towards the end. Beyond the romance, this is a story of self discovery and staying true to yourself. The descriptions of the setting; views, smells, feelings of their family summer houses, also made me want to book a trip to the beach ASAP.

I think fans of Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren &/or Every Summer After by Carley Fortune would enjoy this book!

I was very intrigued to read Annabel Monaghan’s newest release after absolutely loving Nora Goes Off Script!

This novel transported me to an idyllic scene of growing up spending summers at the beach with your family. It sounded so dreamy, growing up, visiting the beach, bonding with your family and your neighbors, and getting to escape your everyday “normal” for a season out of the year.

The story was told by Wyatt and Sam, now and then, and I really enjoyed this. Although confusing at times, about half way through it started making more and more sense. I grew to love both Wyatt and Sam a lot by the end. I wouldn’t say I was particularly close to the other characters, besides Gracie, but I felt that there was decent character development among the others!

I loved the rom-com aspect of the novel and enjoyed the general producibility of it, too, especially after reading a heavier book prior.

The story was sweet, romantic, and nostalgic and I would highly recommend it! Can’t wait to read the next novel by Annabel Monaghan!!

A HUGE thank you to NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP Putnam, G.P. Putnam's Sons for the arc! It was such a treat to get to read this before release!!
