Description

“Bursting with the magic of first love, it’s everything I want in a summer romance.” —Carley Fortune, #1 New York Times bestselling author of EVERY SUMMER AFTER

Named a Best Book of Summer by Real Simple • Reader’s Digest • Country Living • The Skimm • BookBub • GoodReads

Beach Rules:
Do take long walks on the sand.
Do put an umbrella in every cocktail.
Do NOT run into your first love.

Sam’s life is on track. She has the perfect doctor fiancé, Jack (his strict routines are a good thing, really), a great job in Manhattan (unless they fire her), and is about to tour a wedding venue near her family’s Long Island beach house. Everything should go to plan, yet the minute she arrives, Sam senses something is off. Wyatt is here. Her Wyatt. But there’s no reason for a thirty-year-old engaged woman to feel panicked around the guy who broke her heart when she was seventeen. Right?

Yet being back at this beach, hearing notes from Wyatt’s guitar float across the night air from next door as if no time has passed—Sam’s memories come flooding back: the feel of Wyatt’s skin on hers, their nights in the treehouse, and the truth behind their split. Sam remembers who she used to be, and as Wyatt reenters her life their connection is as undeniable as it always was. She will have to make a choice.

Loved this author's first book, Nora Goes Off Script, and this one is just as fantastic. I could feel the ocean, identified with Sam, loved Wyatt. I have nothing but good things to say about this book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ultimate nostalgic summer read about second chance romance! I picked up this book because I absolutely loved the author’s previous book of “Nora Goes Off Script”.

Plot: An engaged Sam returns to the summer beach house she visited as a kid to check out a wedding venue. She comes across her childhood sweetheart, Wyatt and seeing him brings a battle of conflict and unresolved issues for her.

Spice level: 🌶. In terms of spice, it’s mostly closed door romance.

Reminds me of “Every Summer After”but with less YA angst. Told from two POV of the MCs, it tells a story of young love, how our first heartbreak can shape our future relationships. Her tone is the book is more mature and beautifully written. I experience her memories in the small details of what it like growing up there during the summers.

Overall, I kept looking forward to returning to this book, it’s characters and most importantly the MC! The romance is realistic and they made decisions based on being ready after working on themselves. I appreciated they were fully formed characters. I am always in for the romance and they got together at the right time!

Thank you to NetGalley for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!

I enjoyed this sweet second chance romance and it was the perfect thing to make me feel summery even though it’s cold and winter outside right now. Definitely recommend for a great beach read or if you wanna feel like you’re at the beach.

5 out of 5 stars! I went into this book with expectations of a cute, light hearted "Hallmark Channel" type romance. What I got was so much better! This is a love story for the age, and felt very "The Notebook" to me. The characters are beautifully flawed, and their emotions are real. You feel their pain, their love, their heartache and heartbreak.

I haven't rooted for a couple like this in a long time! The best part - there are some surprises and unpredictability to the story that I really enjoyed. Many romances or chick lit have pretty standard tropes and you can see the plot twist ahead of time, but this was a fresh story with surprises throughout.

Highly recommend!
