Sam Holloway's life is perfect. She has a wonderful doctor fiancé, Jack and a great job that she excels at - everything is going to plan. But is it really? When Sam and Jack go back to the Holloway family home on Long Island for a few days to tour a potential wedding venue, Sam is shocked to run into Wyatt. It's been 14 years since they've seen each other, but Wyatt was Sam's first love and first heartbreak, and those wounds may not be as healed as she thinks. As a couple of days at the beach turns into an unexpected week, the girl Sam used to be starts flickering back to life and the perfect life she's created with Jack isn't looking so perfect anymore.

I loved Nora Goes Off Script and was thrilled to receive an ARC of Same Time Next Summer, but I wasn't prepared for how much I would love this book. I absolutely adored Sam and watching her slowly find her way back to old self felt a little magical. I'm a sucker for second change romances and really enjoyed the flashbacks to summer's past and the dual POV sprinkled throughout - it helped add additional suspense to finding out why Sam and Wyatt broke up all those years ago. I also appreciated the way Annabel Monaghan described Sam's devastation after they broke up; everyone has that first whirlwind romance that (most often) ends in heartbreak and I was transported right back to my own first broken heart.

Same Time Next Summer is a perfect beach read, so I highly recommend picking this one up next summer when it comes out!

A new favorite, this is the perfect vacation/beach read. Wyatt and Sam were charming without being overly sweet or unbelievably dramatic. I love how Annabel’s characters are so relatable; even Jack wasn’t made out to be such a horrible villain which made him even more fun to read about. Each character was so nuanced that I wanted more of them all. The family dynamic was beautiful, and the beach setting was swoon-worthy. I can’t wait for her to write another!

Same Time Next Summer was a delightful read. It follows Sam as she deals with the returning emotions from her first love, Wyatt, while planning the wedding to her fiancé, Jack at her childhood Long Island Home. I truly loved each of the characters. They were flawed in a believable and loveable way. I felt this was more of a chick-lit rather than a romance book with most of the focus on Sam and how she handles everything. I would have liked to see more of the adult relationship with Sam and Wyatt. Overall this is a great book for anyone who likes small town and second chance romances.

This was a pretty standard second chance, closed door romance.

Sam and Wyatt fell in love as teenagers during their summers on Long Island. After a traumatic breakup, Sam is back at the beach 12 years later, with her fiancé in tow. Who should show up next door but Wyatt, the boy who broke her heart all those years ago?

The story was okay but not overly engaging. The characters kind of fell flat to me, and Sam's slow realization that her life had moved away from who she truly is was slow, if probably realistic. I did think Wyatt's enduring pining for Sam was a little weird. I would have liked a lot more of the story to have happened in the fall post-fiancé, and it made the ending feel rushed.

I think a lot of readers will love this story, but the characters just didn't jump off the page enough for me to feel wowed.

I really enjoyed this sweet book about Sam and Wyatt who fall in love as teens and then break up over a summer. The book follows how that summer affected their lives as adults. If you like second chance romances set in a cute beach town, this would be a good read for you.

The author has a way of writing that draws you in. I liked her writing style a lot and also appreciated the short chapters!

I found myself really attached to the main character Sam. I loved how the author developed her character- she came across as an authentic person and I was invested in her story. I also really enjoyed the side characters such as Sam’s parents.

I would have liked a bit more to the ending- an epilogue would have been great! I also would have liked to see Jack’s character have more to him. He came across as fairly one dimensional and cliche. Some of this book is rather cheesy as well but overall I just accepted it for what it was and enjoyed the ride.

Its insane to me how much I loved this book because I didnt connect to her other noon as much. I loved this book so so much. Second chance romances are everything to me and this gave me everything I wanted. My heart ached for both of them and the trauma they had to endure without each other. It felt very realistic. I loved the constant chapters throughout the different summers they shared together. What I also loved was that it didn’t lack any of the present day angst that is usually love. Some authors show me too much of the past and not nearly enough of the present but this was the exception. It was just such a beautiful childhood friends to lovers second chance story. I also feel like it was a beautiful story about self discovery and staying true to yourself. The only complaint I had was that I feel like the ending was very abrupt and I wish she gave us more of their life and their wedding, etc.
Definitely check this one out when it releases on June 6th, 2023. Thank you Netgalley for this arc!

I really liked this story. I was intrigued by the characters. I think they were well written and I was routing for them all. I’m new to romance and this one will stay with me for awhile. I keep thinking about and it’s been a couple days since I finished it. Thank you to #netgalley and #penguingroup. I will be suggested this to anyone and everyone.

Five stars! Perfect cover and the easiest story to get into! Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book for the purpose of this review. It reminded me of the books I read over the summer and enjoyed immensely. Monaghan is a talented writer and I liked her character development. I became invested in the outcome and also loved the beachy read setting!

I found Same Time Next Summer after finishing Annabel Monaghan’s Nora Goes off Script. I loved it so much I had to find anything else Monaghan wrote! I was so excited to get a copy of Same Time Next Summer from Netgalley. Monaghan is an excellent writer and it shows in both of the books I have read by her. Same Time Next Summer is a book about rediscovering oneself after losing who you are. Sam and Wyatt, the main characters of the book, had an epic love story all before the age of 18 but something tragic happens and they break up. 10 years later they find each other at the beach. It’s a story similar to what I’ve read before. I was missing the relationship on a deeper level I just wanted a little more insight to their bond and love.. I give it 4 starts because I did enjoy it and can’t wait to read anything else Monaghan writes!

Same Time Next Summer by Annabel Monaghan
4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“If you’ve loved someone your whole life, it kind of makes sense that you’d love them forever.”

Sam and Jack are the perfect couple and are planning the perfect, monochrome wedding. When Sam and Jack visit Sam’s colorful and bright family in Long Island and run into her first love,Wyatt (the cute boy next door), will things get messy?

The book goes between the past and present and rotates perspectives between Sam and Wyatt. The character development throughout the book makes the reader feel as if they know the characters and they feel very relatable. Sam and Wyatt’s slow burn and friends to lovers cadence grasped the reader. The time they spent apart was surely difficult for them both but allowed them to grow and become stronger individuals.

This book is a great light and quick read that is perfect for the beach or by the pool. Thank you to Net Galley and Penguin for this advanced readers copy and I can’t wait for everyone to dive into this in June 2023!

Oh my heart. I loved this one. I have a feeling it’s going to be the book of summer 2023!

Short Synopsis:
Sam is bringing her fiancé, Jack, to stay at her parents summer house for a week. Practical, laced-up Jack is all about structure and the indoors. Sam’s family is carefree and live outside in the summer. Sam struggles with who she was versus who she is now in relation to Jack and her family. BUT then her high school love Wyatt is back. And living in the house next door.

This book was everything I was wanting. It was addictive. It was sweet. It had me laughing and maybe even some watery eyes. I LOVED Sam’s journey. And I love Wyatt. And I love the beach summer vibes. It was just such a beautiful story.

I am a sucker for a second chance romance. I loved watching Sam and Wyatt’s story unfold. The ending leaves me wanting a little more- maybe a sequel? I recently finished Annabel Monaghan’s story ‘Nora Goes Off Script’ and it instantly was in my top three reads of the year. I was very excited to be able to read this ARC. She is easily one of my favorite authors.

There were moments while reading this book where it had me completely. I was hooked and totally invested in Sam and the outcome of her story, but then there were moments where it felt dull and nothing was happening. There were parts of the story I wish the author spent more time exploring and other parts I felt like could have been cut short. Developing the story felt organic at times, but there were parts that I thought were essential to the story that felt rushed.

There’s one aspect that this author shines at and that is creating characters you root for and a love story that you can feel to your core. It’s a feel good book that will no doubt leave you with a smile on your face and a huge desire to book a one way ticket to the closest beach town. Though I didn’t 100% love this book, there were a lot of good aspects that kept me interested and wanting to read more from this author. Thank you NetGalley and G.P. Putnam’s Sons for this ARC

“You’re the most important person that’s ever been in my life, and you’re not even the most important person in your own.”

4+ ⭐️

You know when the right book arrives at the right time and it just hits differently? After reading some dark, twisty, complicated novels, this gem came into my NetGalley feed and it was everything I needed.

Sam returns to her family beach house to plan a fairy tale wedding, perhaps to recreate the scene of happy memories and a sense of belonging. But here she is now torn between two worlds, buttoned-up vs bohemian, and starts to question who she is and what truly makes her happy. The past and present narrative worked well for this novel and Ms. Monaghan masterfully juggles 2 points of view throughout, creating a flowing storyline that had me hook, line and sinker. Set against a messy and honest family dynamic, Same Time Next Summer checks all the boxes for a perfect summer read and I expect to see it in many beach bags this summer. I will be smiling through the winter in anticipation of its release. For fans of Emily Henry and Carley Fortune (blurb on the cover)

Thank you Net Galley, and Penguin Group Putnam for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review which will be published on all my platforms closer to release date.

Who doesn’t love a second chance romance?! I am a sucker for it!

While this will inevitably draw parallels to Every Summer After, this stands on its own two feet as a lovely summer romance chalk full of second chance love, terrible communication and a quirky family who loves art, paper making and a Granny who was feisty as all get out!

While I do think this felt short and rushed, we could have used about 75 more pages to feel less rushed, i did enjoy it overall. Nora Goes Off Script was going to be a hard act to follow for me. One thing is for sure though Monaghan’s writing is truly wonderful - she is gifted!!!

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Definite Every Summer After by Carley Fortune vibes. Since i just recently read Every Summer After, I wasn't sure how I would feel about Same Time Next Summer. But it did not take long for me to be pulled into this story about Sam, who was devastated by the break-up with her childhood sweetheart, Wyatt, and put herself back together to live a "normal" life after. Now, she is engaged to Jack, a straight-laced city man, and everything is lining up perfectly for a happily ever after, until she comes back into contact with Wyatt, the beach, and her family. Will Sam find herself again? And can she forgive Wyatt and let him in her heart again?

Sam has a picture-perfect life. She is engaged to a handsome doctor, Jack, and has a great, stable job in NYC. Everything in her life is predictable until she slips up at work and they ask her to take a short leave while they decide if they want to keep her on. Sam and her fiance head to her parent's beach house on Long Island and her mom convinces them to tour a local wedding venue. Everything is going smoothly until Sam finds out that Wyatt, her first love, is back and it's almost as if all those feelings come flying back to her right there on the beach. Wyatt broke her heart when she was seventeen but can she escape those feelings when faced with them again?

This book is everything you could want in a summer romance read! It gave me all the nostalgic feelings of young love. I loved how the story jumped back in time so we got to see how Sam and Wyatt's relationship started. I love a good second-chance romance and this one showed just how powerful and life-changing love can really be. I also loved how Sam really found herself again at the beach. If you were a fan of this author's first novel, Nora Goes Off Script, you will love this one too!

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam for the ARC! Look for this one next summer (June 2023)!

I really enjoyed this book and the summer/young-love nostalgia of it all. The story follows two young kids that grow up next door to each other during the summer months, eventually falling in love with each other. The summer that they realize these feelings for each other, something devastating happens between the two families that leaves their relationship in the balance. The story jumps around from chapters in the past to the present - a point of view I really liked. In present day the main character, Sam, is now engaged to another guy and her ex (Wyatt) has reappeared back into her life. I thought the story flowed nicely and the premise was relatable. There were a few thing that Sam did that I thought were a little far-fetched, but I also think her slightly quirky personality excuses away some of those things. Overall I thought this story was very cute and made me miss the summers from my own youth. I would definitely read more from this author in the future!

I love a good second chance romance! Such a cute, fun, and flirty read. When I first started the reading, I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. About 40% in, I was hooked.
