Powerful, bold, insightful, and vivid. Ajibade has a strong, bold voice that made me sit up and pay attention. I did not finish the collection before it was archived on Netgalley, but I found the poems I read to be stunning. Highly recommended.
Thank you NetGalley and Xpresso Book Tours for the chance to read and review this book!
While overall, I'm not walking away a fan of this book I can see that the author, Deji Ajibade, has some potential. Some of their poems appealed to me more than others, but this collection wasn't it for me.
I've appreciated this poetry collection. It made me think. Pieces I've liked the most:
Awakening
There are nights (especially the structure of it)
Portrait of Love (poignant image of the feeling, meaning and structure)
Redemption (very nice twist on haiku)
The Other Face of Love
Unfortunately, not all of the poems were my cup of tea, but I do think that the book will find its reader. I would also like to acknowledge the work of Buzz Designz - the cover is beautiful!
