Some of this was defiently giving pseudo-science but if people want to try the tips they seem relatively easy, and might just give you something to help take control of your life a bit.
Very useful guide for people dealing with mental health problems.
I think it’s nice to have a guide on healthy foods to add to my diet that can also improve my mental health.
Tons of great information and tips for a more mindful eating lifestyle. I found this book to be pretty straightforward and helpful. The tips are easy to incorporate into your life.
While there might be some valuable information for some, it just made me feel guilty for taking a few moments in an otherwise heavy day, to enjoy eating someone that probably isn't the best for my body, but is best for my soul.
Perhaps if I was further ahead in my mental health journey it would have been more beneficial.
The information about the link to food and mental health was great. Very clearly written and explaned.
I received a copy via NetGalley and all opinions are my own.
Brain Food Handbook for Mental Health; What to Eat to Relieve Anxiety, Memory Loss, and More by Amanda Foote, RD was alright. Some of this felt like pseudo-science. This book not for me to be honest. I found it a little boring! Thankful to read this before it was published but it will be a pass for me! Thank you!
So 3 star book. I thought the book would be helpful for me but sadly it wasn't . I was only able to get half way through this book before I gave up on it. It simply wasn't keeping me into it. Found book on netgalley. Took a random chance on this. It may have not helped me but I'm sure it would help someone else.
A useful guides of foods good and bad for the brain and to ease mental health issues. It's accessible but not very in-depth. The book is short though, which makes it a quick read, even if it is very dry. The cover is not very attractive and reflects the no-nonsense interior. This is a good guide to start looking up on various foods, like a dictionary, but not really something you will go back to once you have a little more knowledge. I also think book design has greatly improved in recent years and I expect a little more in terms of how visually pleasing a non-fiction book should be. I had also hoped for a few recipes to kickstart the whole eating better for your brain - but I guess this wasn't the point. This is a strict look ingredient after ingredient, it's your job next to find how to best incorporate them into your diet.
I received a free copy of, Brain Food Handbook for Mental Health, by Amanda Foote, RD, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book has a lot of helpful information on what to eat, and what to stay away from, for better mental health. I really like this book.
