The Serial Killers Family #3

Despite a childhood in the care system, Anna Price has beaten the odds and built for herself the perfect life., complete with a beautiful seaside home, devoted husband and a job she loves. Then a policeman appears at Anna's door: her estranged brother Henry is a wanted serial killer, For the past three years. a woman has been murdered on two specific dates - one of which is Anna's birthday. The second is now only four days away, and the police need Anna's help to catch Henry before he strikes again.

This is one of those books where trust no one and be suspicious of everyone. I liked the authors writing style in this fast-paced book. I was pulled in after reading a few pages. The suspense builds throughout. The story flips between the past - tells us of the backstory between Anna and Henry, and the present day. The story is told from Anna's point of view. Filled with so many twists, you never knew what was going to happen next. I never saw the twists at the end coming. What a great ending.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #AvonBooksUK and the author #AliceHunter for my ARC of #TheSerialKilliersSister in exchange for an honest review.

Wow another great book by this author . Got off to a great start and was full of tension throughout. As always I try to guess the ending but I definitely didn’t see that coming . I throughly enjoyed this book and will definitely recommend it . 5 start for this book

Another great instalment in the serial killer series, that said you can easily read this as a stand alone but I would definitely recommend investing in the trilogy

I am left not quite sure knowing how I feel about this book. For 90% of the book I was sure this was the best yet of the series. Great characters, complex plot, fast paced and plenty of twists. Yet the ending has left me in turmoil…I’m not sure the final twist is the right one. It doesn’t quite add up.

That said it was still a very enjoyable read.

Spoiler alert…would you really not recognise your own brother even after 15 years, especially if you had a traumatic start to life and were the only support to your sibling? If you were the best friend of someone you believe to be a good person, who you find out is in fact a murderer, would you really cover up another murder?

I think if the twist had been that the girl had never died but escaped with Anna, it would have been better? Her being serena would then have given motive for her covering up this murder…

A great book from Alice Hunter, with a very unexpected twist at the end! Anna has worked hard for everything in her life after being bought up in the care system. Estranged from her brother Henry, she has no idea of his whereabouts until the police knock on her door one day. Henry, it would appear, is a serial killer and there is firm evidence that he will kill again. Anna needs to divulge details of her past to unlock the location of Henry’s next kill. Why is she so reluctant to help? It would appear Anna has a few secrets of her own…
An engaging read.

While searching for top 2023 mysteries to read, I found The Serial Killer's Sister by Alice Hunter. It was available via NetGalley, and before I knew it, I'd been graciously given the book. Then I realized it was part of a series, and I hadn't read the previous two. Luckily, they are fine to read out of order, but it was a conundrum for a serialist like me. That said, I dove into the book one month before its publication date and found myself initially struggling to get into the story. Perhaps it was a super busy time for me and my mind wasn't focused, so I kept putting the iPad Kindle Reader down from being too tired. The simplicity of the language at the beginning was a turnoff, but a few chapters later, the story begins to develop and drew me further in. Overall, the book has all the required parts to be a solid suspense novel: intriguing backstory, slightly unreliable narrator voice, strange detective lurking on the case, several missing or not prominently featured people, and a murder spree with terrible notes appearing for the protagonist. The parts never quite added up to a truly strong story for me, and the savvy reader will guess the true culprit midway through. All that said, there were many great sections and I did find myself eager to find out what was going on. I'm going to take the hit on this one, noting that it could've been a four-star read if I'd been a less sleepy reader and focused on the words more closely. I will add the author to my TBR and read another of her books to determine if it was me or just a bad match.

Anna thought that the last was behind her but her world begins to unravel as it is dragged out again. It was a twisty journey that went from one point to another,

As a narrator Anna was unique but that made the twist at the end so much better. The ending was unexpected and leaves you wondering how it was missed. But it also make so much more sense.

This had an interesting premise and I was keen to see how events would unfold. I did enjoy the plot but I found the writing very simplistic and quite basic, unfortunately it did dampen my enjoyment of the read somewhat. However, if I put this to one side and look at the plot, I did find it thrilling and fast paced and I was keen to discover the secrets the book held. I read this very quickly as well.
I liked this was set in the past and present and I enjoyed learning the secrets the characters held. I was never bored whilst reading this and it did keep my interest. Plus, the very final twist was a shocking one that really injected some last minute energy.
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for an advance copy.

An excellent read, full of suspense and perceived very sinister danger, this is one that I was compelled to finish quickly.
There are plenty of ticks for this story, a really sad backstory and childhood, lots of hidden and buried secrets, a serial killer and a current life falling apart. There are themes of trust and friendship and hidden trails leading to the conclusion. I liked the characters and despite a nagging feeling that parts were a bit far fetched, especially re the policing, I read enjoyed the plot. I would say there are a couple of big twists, one which I slightly suspected but I final one which I really did not and which I’m still trying to digest and test why I didn’t see it coming and whether there were any holes in the theory.
Overall really enjoyable reading.

The Serial Killer's Sister" by Alice Hunter is a dark and gripping thriller that explores the relationship between siblings and the impact of childhood trauma. The novel follows Anna and Henry, two siblings who end up in a children's home after a troubled childhood. Years later, Anna is living a seemingly perfect life as a teacher and wife, but everything changes when the police inform her that her estranged brother is a serial killer.

While the premise of the novel is intriguing, some readers may find that the pacing drags at times. Additionally, the character of Anna may not be likable for all readers, as she struggles with her own guilt and complicity in her brother's actions. However, the novel's exploration of the impact of childhood trauma on adult relationships and behavior is thought-provoking and adds depth to the story.

Overall, "The Serial Killer's Sister" is a haunting and suspenseful read that will leave readers on edge until the very end. Fans of the psychological thriller genre will enjoy this latest offering from Alice Hunter, although those looking for a quick-paced read may find it a bit slow-moving.

The main character "Anna" is living an idyllic life when police pay her a visit to talk about some murdered women and the fact that her brother may be involved. A deadly game called ‘The Hunt’ ensues and it’s on. Between the police, the clues left and random dates, the mysteries must be solved.
The overall premise of this book was really interesting and I loved the plot twist at the end. However I did find the dual timelines incredibly annoying at times and it felt like we as the reader were left in the dark about what was happening up until the last 20% of the book.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this book. I have read all of the serial killer books, this would be my least favourite. It's not that I didn't enjoy the book, I just preferred the characters and the plot in the other books. I found this book a little more predictable and guessed some parts. I do enjoy the authors writing and find all books easy to get into. I would recommend the book and author to others.

This series started off really well but the more I read the more the plots are unbelievable and they no longer hold my attention. All in all an okay read.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in return for giving an honest review.

Wow! What a story! I loved how fast paced it was with such a shocking twist! I couldn't see it coming! Brilliant writing style and totally gripping!

A colleague of mine introduced me to "The Serial Killers Wife" and "The Serial Killer's Daughter" and I really enjoyed them, we even made them part of our work book club!
Although I enjoyed this book, I don't think it was as good as the others, in particular the first book. I did devour this novel in just a couple of days and I have told my colleague who recommended the others to try and request this ARC!

Yet another compulsive thriller from Alice Hunter. I felt there was a different tone and characterisation to this one then there has been previously which threw me off to begin with but this is personal opinion having read the two books previously, but would not affect someone reading this as a stand-alone. Secret after secret was revealed masterfully, and yet again I was sucked in by the wonderful characterisation.

Highly recommend!

The Serial Killer's Sister by Alice Hunter is the third of a series, although this one easily holds its own as a standalone read.

Anna is happily married when one day she receives a knock at the door. Taken aback to find the police on the other side, Anna is stunned to learn that her younger brother Henry is a suspected serial killer. His kills, allegedly, have happened only on two very specific dates. One is Anna's birthday, and the second date is quickly approaching. Can Anna put a series of clues together before the killer strikes again?

While I have read only one of the previous books in this series, I am now rushing to add the other to my TBR. If you are looking for a fast-paced read to keep you on the edge of your seat, then look no further.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for an ARC.

Anna and Henry have had a troubled childhood when they end up at Finley Hall Children’s Home. They think that their lives are going to be better but as soon as they walk in the see a boy dragged away. One night she escapes with her friend Kirsty to a party. Certain events that night that also includes her brother Henry changes the course of both their lives forever.
Years Later Anna has a great life. She is now a teacher at a local private school and married to Ross. When one day she gets a knock at the door. It’s the Police saying that her estranged brother is now murdered several women. And playing a deadly game called ‘The hunt’. Like games that he played when they were children but more deadly. The Police are asking for Anna’s help to track him down.
Thank you, Avon, and NetGalley for advanced copy of The Serial Killer’s sister the third book in the series from Alice Hunter. I am a fan of the first two books from this author, so I was excited to receive a copy of this. Although I did enjoy the premise, I did feel that it dragged on a bit and didn’t really like the character of Anna 3.5 stars from me.

Loved the other 2 books in this series (though you don’t need to have read them to read this one) and I really enjoyed this one too! I’ll be honest it wasn’t my favourite of the series, but I was still hooked from the start and enjoyed the many twists and turns! Fans of the first 2 books will enjoy this, but I’d also recommend picking it up if you haven’t read either of the others!
