I wish we had scratch and sniff cookbooks because wow these recipes look amazing. I can’t wait to work my way through all (well most) of this book. The recipes are easy to follow (though some will be challenging) and mostly easily accessible ingredients.

I received an ARC of from NetGalley and Clarkson Potter/Ten Speed Press in exchange for an honest review.
OK, this is a tome. 400 pages of so many cakes, cookies, breads, and pastries that it feels just a bit overwhelming, especially to the novice baker. It is, however, a great reference book for anyone wanting to improve their baking skills, with lots of interesting tips and tricks.
The photographs are beautiful, however, as others have mentioned, there aren't quite enough of them, especially for someone unfamiliar with British pastries. I had to look up pictures of several things, like Singin' Hinny, Victorian Christmas cake, and Wimbledon cake, to see what they looked like. I often look at the pictures to decide whether or not I should attempt to make it!
So this is a great reference book to have for fans of Mary Berry, and for those who want a nice repertoire of foundation recipes to work through. Quality recipes written in an understandable way!

I found the recipes to be very British for mtpy tastes. I enjoy watching Mary Berry on PBS but the cookbook is not for me.

Loved this cookbook - it has all of the classics in an easy to read format. The pictures make the food look delicious!

I loved this updated Baking Bible by the Queen of Cakes herself, Mary Berry. Wonderful options on basics and classics, but some fresh new bakes as well. I loved the pictures, which really added to the overall look of the book, but also contribute to the recipes. The basics of cooking, such as tools used, ingredients, and techniques were particularly helpful, even for an advanced home baker. I hope everyone who has enjoyed watching the Great British Bake Off will grab a copy of the revised and updated Baking Bible. I know I'm looking forward to cooking my way through Mary Berry's classic cookbook! Big thanks to the Queen of Cakes, Mary Berry, her publisher, Clarkson Potter, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review Mary Berry's Baking Bible: Revised and Updated.

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I remember watching her on TV. That is what made me want to read this and see some of her recipes. I am not a pro baker but I found the recipes simple enough to follow. I want to take come of the cookies especially the shortbread. Looking over the recipes and it did bring back some memories.

Mary Berry has updated her Baking Bible for American bakers and added new recipes. As a premier authority on baking, Ms. Berry’s newest cookbook is a generous offering to bakers around the world hoping to bake their best.
I received a free ARC of this book from NetGalley for my honest voluntary review.

If you are a fan of The Great British Bake Off and wondered how to make Victoria Sponge, Bakewell Tart or Battenburg this is the book for you. There are also classics like brownies, chocolate chip cookies, and banana bread. All the recipes are clearly written and there is a section at the beginning explaining the ingredients and methods she uses. I especially loved Mary's stories before the recipes.
*Thank you for the advanced reader copy from Clarkson Potter/Ten Speed Press and Netgalley. I am required to disclose this in my review in compliance with federal law

Mary Berry is the queen of the food scene in the UK. Many American fans were first introduced to her in the early seasons of the Great British Bake Off, when she was a judge alongside Paul Hollywood. His snarkiness and her gentile personality were a good contrast, but where the show really shined was when she introduced the technical challenge, and walked the viewer through the steps to create the perfect dessert. Her cookbooks are much the same way, and this revised edition of an earlier one is no exception. The recipes are clear and concise, each step is meticulously explained, and ingredients are easy to obtain. Once you use this book to make scones for an English tea, you won't use any other recipe again!

I've enjoyed watching Mary Berry on the show Great British Bake Off and enjoyed looking through her cookbook,too...Would of loved to see more pictures for the recipes..Some of the recipes will be more challenging to try, but that is the fun of baking.. It was nice that she also had some American type desserts in her book.. Will be interesting to try some of the British recipes that I have never tried..The cookbook does have the measurments for American measures and lets us know what ingredients we can use in America in place of the British ingredients. Thank You NetGalley for a copy of this book.

I loved Mary on the Great British Bake Off so I could not wait to get my hands on this updated book! It did not disappoint!
As a newer baker I found the baking equipment, terminology, and conversion tables incredibly helpful! The photos are beautiful and the book has 250+ recipes both classic and newer! There are recipes that very for a few servings to 100! It really is the baking bible!
Thank you to NetGalley and Clarkson Potter/Ten Speed Press for the digital advanced readers copy!! This cookbook was published on May 9, 2023

A solid overview of traditional British baked goods from the former judge of the The Great British Baking Show, this cookbook includes recipes for cakes, cookies, muffins, tarts, puddings, and cheesecakes. Nothing groundbreaking, but some desserts might seem more exotic to an American audience. The recipe introductions are on the fluffy side (I'd have liked more background/history) and only half of the recipes include photographs, which is a shame from a visual perspective as well as that of the home baker, who might like to know what the finished product will look like.

I have turned into a bit of a lazy cook and like shortcuts. I do still enjoy reading the more involved cookbooks. Mary Berry definitely falls into that category. While I may never get around to cooking many (or any) of the recipes, I love the tips, pictures, and general information in her cookbooks!

I am a big fan of the Great British Baking and Marry Berry is my favorite baker! I love being able to see her recipes not only on the show but also in her cookbook!

You can't top this baking cookbook from the queen of British baking. Well done! It's worth digging in and trying out a few bakes that catch your fancy.

This is a beautifully put together updated compendium of baking recipes that is heavily weighted with British versions of desserts (teacakes and puddings and scones, oh my!). The gorgeous color photos for about a third of the recipes will leave you salivating. If you're a fan of traditional fruit cakes, this is definitely a book for your library, who knew just how many fruit cake variations there are...
As with the original, this revised and updated version would a good book for aspiring bakers to use to develop their baking chops (just don't start with the Special Cakes chapter as those recipes are more complex). The book is also appropriate for all levels of bakers but novice cooks may struggle a bit with certain recipes. For the most part, recipes are easy to follow and the Introduction and Techniques section provides superb guidance to help ensure baking success. Head notes are generally succinct statements about how tasty the recipe is and whether the it is a multipart affair. Helpful tips let you know how long cakes will keep fresh, when they can be frozen and for how long.
The use of extra large eggs and salted butter (or buttery spread) in most recipes was unusual (to me). I greatly appreciated the use of one-bowl recipes and learning apricot jam is one of her secret ingredients, it shows up in many recipes and how she uses it applied to warm cakes before frosting is genius. I am looking forward to trying my hand at her Fork Cookies, Very Best Scones and Buttermilk and Honey Cheesecake (always, always on the hunt for ways to use buttermilk).

Anyone who loves baking needs Mary Berry's cookbook in their arsenal and her most recent book is not an exception. I was so thrilled to get my hands on this and couldn't wait to read through 400 plus something pages in one sitting. Boy, what a joy.
This book is chock full of recipes from easy to intermediate to expert level, everyday to special occasion, sweet to savory, you name it, this book has it all and revised and updated! Every recipe is broken down to steps for any bakers to follow and there are many recipes for beginner level that you can whip up on week days (a big win for busy mamas like myself!) Some are new and never-heard-of and I believe it's British recipes, so I had to look up online what they look like, but as long as you're willing to spend some time to read through the recipes, you get the idea. There are SO MANY great recipes I want to bake, I felt overwhelmed -- that's how great this cookbook is! Only thing I would like to mention is I wish this book had more photos. I'm a visual person and when it comes to baking and cooking, I'd like to see what the end result looks like before I get started, and this book lacks in that department. Other than that, I LOVE this book to pieces and am so glad to have this book! Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys baking!!!

Thank you to NetGalley and Clarkson Potter/Ten Speed Press for a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Mary Berry is Britain's queen of pastry and she has revised and update her classic instructional book: Mary Berry's Baking Bible. I was super excited to get a copy of her updated book and it does not disappoint. She covers the baking gambit with cakes, breads, cookies, pastries, scones, puddings meringues, cake decorations and more. Her introduction is filled with techniques, equipment and instructions. Each recipe includes a detailed ingredient list (both imperial and metric), easy to follow instructions and a beautiful color photo. I can not speak to the difference between this one and the previous edition but this recipe cookbook is a must for the home baker's collection. I can't wait to test out all of her recipes!

I am a huge fan of GBB and miss the early seasons with Mary. The cookbook is beautiful. I love the layout, the fact that directions are in steps, and all the photos. I thought tips, techniques, terms, etc were explained so well that anyone can be a good baker and succeed with these recipes. I especially appreciated that recipes listed weight and cup measurements.
I wasn’t able to find any vegan recipes to try, but a good portion seem easy enough to adapt to be vegan and I will try those eventually. Thanks!

I love Mary Berry's cooking shows, but hadn't tried one of her books yet. This book has got a great selection of recipes I still want to try. I tried a few and especially loved her lemon drizzle sheet bake. The recipes are easy to follow
I received a free copy from NetGalley in return for a honest review
