"Summer at the Cornish Farmhouse" by Linn B Halton took me on a journey through a slow-burning, yet ultimately satisfying romance. It's a story that beautifully unfolds, centered on two individuals in need of healing and rediscovery.

Jess, who inherited her grandparents' farmhouse after her grandmother's passing, found herself at a crossroads. Her marriage with Ben had crumbled, and the farmhouse, in desperate need of refurbishment, became both her refuge and her project for mending a broken heart. Her daughter, Lola, joined her in the pursuit of new beginnings, but Jess faced numerous obstacles, particularly unreliable contractors.

Enter Riley, a kind-hearted man who worked for a building materials company. Their first encounter involved gravel deliveries and an unexpected connection. Riley handed Jess his business card, offering his services should she need help. After a grueling first day of work, Jess decided to call him, but with a twist. She asked him to pretend to be a friend casually dropping by. Riley played along, setting the stage for their unique employer-employee relationship.

Jess's life was in disarray, clinging to hope that her estranged husband, Ben, might return and rekindle their lost love. Yet, deep down, she understood that their marriage had lost its spark, and Ben's departure was the right decision. It was a hard-fought realization for her. Riley, too, carried the weight of his past, with an ex and a son he rarely saw. Their connection formed slowly, mirroring the transformation of the farmhouse they were working on.

As the farmhouse began to take shape, so did their connection. Their camaraderie led to an unforgettable night, initially meant to be a one-time occurrence. However, their bond was far from casual, and they couldn't deny the growing attraction between them. What set Riley apart was his reliability, a quality Jess had rarely encountered. To Riley, Jess was a ray of sunshine, a beacon of positivity that drew him in.

Together, they realized they made a formidable team, and their efforts resulted in the success of the farmhouse property. While romance blossomed, there was much more happening beneath the surface. "Summer at the Cornish Farmhouse" is a heartwarming second chance romance that I wholeheartedly recommend. It's a tale of love, healing, and new beginnings that will leave you with a warm, contented feeling.

Jess Newman's life takes an unexpected turn when her marriage to Ben falls apart, leaving her devastated. With the help of her granddad Gabe, she and her daughter Lola find solace in a charming but rundown farmhouse in Cornwall. The picturesque countryside and seaside setting provide a welcome change, but Jess soon realises that starting anew comes with its own set of challenges. This heartwarming story beautifully explores the themes of love, resilience, and the power of family bonds. A delightful read for those seeking a fresh start of their own.

I just loved the descriptions of Cornwall and the beautiful farmhouse with its glorious flowers Jess moves to. Seemingly coming out of the blue, her marriage is over, and Jess's ex-husband has moved on. Her daughter's well-being is her main concern now and she moves to the beautiful Cornish farmhouse her granddad left her. She has the brilliant idea to turn it into a business. Renovations are underway and it's shaping up quite well. Contractor Riley gets the job done on the farmhouse, but can he unlock her frozen heart to let in love once again. I enjoyed seeing the family closeness Jess has with her granddad Cappy and how Cappy dotes on Lola, Jess's young daughter. This is so important when a child is going through times of uncertainty such as a parental divorce and moving to a new area. The story is warm, encouraging and upbeat. The perfect summertime beach read.

After her divorce Jess and her daughter move to Cornwall to her grand parents farm to start again. The farm is slightly run down but Jess has decided to renovate the outbuildings etc so she can let them as holiday rentals. This is when she bumps into Riley who is a builder
As the whole family get involved helping when they can, will Jess get her new start or is it too much ?

This book is a slow paced, feel good read. It is a very easygoing read, not too much drama, slow burning romance but it is a nice book and I enjoyed reading it.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for my ARC.

A heartwarming and light read. However, I found this a slow read with no real excitement. A good read if your looking for something quick and easy.

This is a smashing romance.

The characters are well developed and it has a really good community feel of a village in Cornwall.

When you add in the stress of family it makes a great read, perfect for the holiday or a beach.

This is a really good feel good read. It has a range of characters of various ages and personalities. As the story builds the reader is filled in on the history of the various characters and this leads to a really rounded tale filled with fun, friendship, love and optimism. I hope that the author brings this out as a series.

This was a sweet story about a mom and her daughter striking out on their own after a divorce and renovating their family's old property. I loved the descriptions of the renovations and reading about the plans for the home, but the book only gave us little hints of Cornwall in the story. I much prefer when the author really paints a picture of where the story takes place where you can almost feel as if you are stepping into that place. Here, we only had a few descriptions of Cornwall and the coast which were lovely, but I think much too much time was spent on the main characters friends than was really necessary.
Overall, it was an easy read, but no real conflict or issues, just the run of the mill renovation problems which were interesting to read, but nothing got me really involved with the characters. I think my favorite character may have been Misty the cat, but otherwise, most were kind of bland and hard to relate to.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me read an advance copy, I think this story will be good for people wanting to read about renovations, but little else.
