I had a copy of this audiobook via Netgalley. I’ve not read anything from this author before but I loved the cover so I was drawn to requesting it!
The story follows disgraced social media influencer Cat. She takes some time out on an offer from her uncle to work with him on marketing and social media for Kennedy National Park which is a far cry from her usual New York streets. NYC is one of my favourite fictional settings however the national park was giving me Devney Perry The Edens and Daisy Prescott Happy Trail vibes.
This is a slow burner which isn’t usually my type but I was enjoying the story so much I didn’t quite notice. Cat and Zaiah could not be more different so if opposites attract romances are your thing then this one might be for you!
One thing I love in a book is when the title makes it into the story somewhere as like a pun or a one liner or just casually as part of the narrative and this one has one big tick in that department!

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I enjoyed the description but didn’t know how much I would like it. I enjoyed everything about it. The characters were well written and I loved Cat and Zaiah. Cat is witty and has my mentality when it comes to the outdoors (especially snakes), but has her flaws. I loved her banter with Zaiah that made me laugh out loud several times while listening. Overall, this was a great story that had me listening every chance I got. I will be looking for more books by this author in the future.

I feel like the blurb is very misleading. I was expecting a cute romcom. I really would not classify this as a romance. And it wasn't funny, either. This line "this romantic comedy of opposites attract is full of hilarious romp and a romance that will melt readers’ hearts" makes me wonder if I read the right book, lol.
This book is more of a book of personal growth. Cat's only job ever (other than a very brief stint in a restaurant at 15) has been a social media influencer. When a scandal hits, she goes to Montana to work for her uncle and lay low. She meets Zaiah, who is anti-social media and starts to gain perspective about how she lives her life glued to her phone. The VERY mild romance doesn't even begin until the end of the book.
There is absolutely no chemistry between Cat and Zaiah. All of the characters were pretty flat. Honestly, the whole book felt immature.
I listened to the audiobook, which was narrated by Talon David. I finished this last night and cannot think of a single thing to say. Which means it wasn't terrible, but was apparently forgettable.
I received an audio copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was a cute, sweet story following social media influencer, Cat. After finding herself being “cancelled” she escapes to the wilderness of Montana to spend time with her uncle who works at a national park. There’s a big focus on social media and all of its negative impacts. It definitely it makes you stop and reflect about how much time you spend on social media, and how it could be affecting your personal life and mental health. I loved seeing Cat’s growth throughout the book, but that she didn’t lose herself along the way. The book was also full of lovable supporting characters! Cat and Zaiah gave big ✨Calla and Jonah vibes✨ (The Simple Wild).

Cat Cranston has experienced a traumatic free fall in her career. She went from being the "it" girl to being a pariah. Desperate to get away from her imploding life, Cat escapes to Montana where her Uncle Terry has offered her a job working for the local Park Department there. Cat views it as a temporary break from her world in the hope that things will die down and she can soon reclaim her social media status. What she doesn't count on is falling in love with the area and the people there.
The story is a lovely blend of romance, self-discovery and found family. It also touches on some serious topics such as abuse, social media addiction and more. Overall, it is a heartwarming read that really makes you think about how focused we all are on social media sometimes. It made me, personally, realize that sometimes it's better to live the moment than to be so concerned with trying to "capture it."
AUDIOBOOK REVIEW: The audio was well done with narration that pulled me into the story so well that I was immersed completely. It felt like a production at times and I feel that most people will find this a good way to enjoy this story. 4 stars
Thank you to NetGalley for both the ARC and early audiobook copy. I voluntarily chose to review them and the opinions contained within are my own.

I absolutely adored this story! I couldn’t stop reading. I think this is the author’s best work so far. Such a wonderful message too.

Thank you Netgalley and Thomas Nelson for my gifted audiobook in exchange for an honest review!
I absolutely loved Melissa Ferguson’s first novel, but this one fell a little flat. The audio narration was great, and it was very easy to listen to! I just was not invested in the story and characters. This was very easy to listen to and a fast read!

Thanks to Thomas Nelson for the copy of this ARC!
Cat Cranwell is a well-known social media star, and when one of her partnerships goes south, she takes a position at a small national park in Montana to lie low and try to help her image. There, she takes over social media for the park and meets Zaiah, a bearded, flannel-wearing nature social-media-hating ranger. This is a quick and light closed-door romance amidst beautiful scenery and lots of small-town charm. I often struggle with social media influencer MCs, but I loved how Cat had a really positive growth journey in this one to make her and Zaiah a good match.
Read if you like:
- flannel-wearing, nature-loving men
- closed-door romance
- social media star MCs
- small town settings

This is an interesting story following the "redemption arc" of a social media influencer who has been caught in a controversy. While this may be labeled as a romance, it isn't one really at all but I enjoyed the story nonetheless. I enjoyed watching Cat step out of her Manhattan influencer bubble and into the real world. There isn't a ton of plot or drama, but just a pleasant, sweet read. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a good job and was pleasant to listen to. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to provide my honest review.

Melissa Ferguson has written a fun book about influencers and social media. Although this book is advertised as a romantic comedy, this book is more about personal growth than romance. The romance doesn’t really come into the story fully until the second half of the book. But that did not stop me from enjoying this book.
Despite a slow start to the story, Cat became someone you quickly cared about. Life as she knew it changed in the blink of an eye. And a change of scenery was everything she didn’t know she needed. I loved the journey Cat went on discovering who she truly was and the impact social media and her phone had started to have on her. It was great to see Cat understand that she didn’t need to completely change herself, just start to make some changes to her life. Also understanding that her skills could be adapted and help more than just herself.
I enjoyed the narrator for this story.
If you are looking for a light-hearted book with strong character development and a little bit of romance, I am sure you will love this book.

Cat Cranwell, a former famous NYC influencer, falls from grace when an app partnership goes wrong. She loses thousands of followers and is shunned by the community.
She decides to hide out in Montana, where her beloved uncle runs a National park. Uncle Terry offers her a job as the new social media strategist her goal is to save Kannery National Park from being absorbed into Glacier National Park by boosting the number of visitors.
She learns that living in the moment and sharing it with the ones you love is more important that capturing the perfect shot for social media. Instead of looking for instant gratification and a quick dopamine hit from all the likes and comments she embraces living authentically and making genuine connection with people.
Zaiah Hudson, a park ranger hates social media and thinks social media is the root of everything that’s wrong with the world.
Zaiah and Cat's love story is not the central plot point. Although there is minimum romance the plot is compelling. If you are in the mood for a book about cancel culture and the toxic effects of social media with a teeny tiny amount of romance do check this out.
Thank you to the publisher Thomas Nelson, Netgalley and Melissa Ferguson for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Cat Cranwell is an influencer in NYC when her life and career are turned upside down. She now finds herself living and working in Montana for her uncle at Kannery National Park. She has to learn how to navigate this new life while trying to survive the wild of the park. She has a lot to learn from the rangers, but might have a few things to teach them as well. Newly appointed as the “media specialist” for the park, she is tasked with helping to keep Kannery from being taken over by the neighboring Glacier Park.
I enjoyed this read very much. I loved watching Cat learn how to restructure her life in her new environment. I love that she didn’t let her situation ruin her, but she continued to work hard and make this new life fit her. My favorite thing about Famous for a Living is watching Cat start to realize that the life she was living might not be as fulfilling as she thought, and working on herself to achieve the life she wants.
I do wish there was a little more depth to this story. I feel like we got a lot of sprinklings of details, but then nothing deeper. I wanted more of Cat and Zaiah’s love story. I don’t believe there was enough to really justify her drastic life change for him. There were also many side characters that I wish we had gotten to know more.
Overall it was a cute book, and I enjoyed it a lot. And found Cat to be such a relatable character. I just wanted more of the story.

Ok this book is adorably hilarious. It’s kind of like Schitts Creek met Parks and Rec and had a baby. it was laugh out loud funny. It had a seemingly shallow FMC in Cat who turns out to be much deeper than you’d thought. You have a super gruff MMC in Zaiah who is kind of a big softy underneath. Its grumpy/sunshine meets opposites attract, workplace romance, all the cuteness. The audio was fantastic and made this is a super fun and engaging listen. It was light and refreshing and fun and heartwarming. If you’re looking for a sweet romance this is it!

Loved this book, the audiobook version was just as great. Very well written and narrated just as well! Would recommend to anyone who wants to just escape for a bit.

This was really cute! For 18 chapters I got to live the life of an influencer well, an influencer if everything went really wrong and they had to get their life back on track so they went out to Montana to work in a National Park for their uncle and then meets an attractive man who wants to save them from a moose.
This was a fun and sweet read! And the narrator was very good!

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for my ALC to review.
I was initially drawn to this book because of the cute cover. I had high hopes and was really excited to read my first book by this author, but sadly it fell very short for me.
The characters were so annoying. I think it was worsened by the narrators voices for them. I cringed multiple times. I couldn’t connect and sadly could have cared less how Cat’s story turned out.
I did like Cat’s love interest, Zaiah. His job and his character were super interesting to me. Is it bad that I didn’t think Cat deserved him? I just didn’t believe them together.
Overall, this was a big miss for.

thank you to netgally for allowing me to view this book early
the narration was EXCELLENT!!!!
this was such a cute read, never know where you are going to find your forever. loved it!

FAMOUS FOR A LIVING is simple, fun and a quick read/listen. You will think more about social media and it's impact on one's life. It also deals well with stepping outside one's comfort zone and exploring new things. Solid read but nothing amazing.

There wasn't enough in this to be considered a romance to me. Instead, it was more ChicLit with a splash of romance. The story was okay, but pretty forgettable and the characters all felt just very middle-class white with not a lot of depth.

This was a cute read!
We meet Cat, a social media influencer living in New York City. After a bit of a scandal, she leaves in the hopes of salvaging her image and to assist her uncle at at Kannery National Park in Montana. She is going to help with their social media presence.
She's definitely not in NYC any more. It is isolated and slow moving. It's humorous as she adjusts.
Who is she without her social media mask on? We watch her reflect and find herself.
She also meets Zaiah, who has some major beef with social media, and we eventually learn why.
I enjoyed all of the side characters, the romance, and mostly Cat's growth as a person. The audio was great!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson, publisher, for an ALC in exchange for my honest review!
