I now understand the amazingness that is Melissa Ferguson and her writing style! What a cleverly well written book. I super loved the approach to a incredibly common and yet touchy topic our society faces; it was fabulously executed. A fabulous story I hope my teens will be able to read soon. I listened to the audiobook and truly enjoyed it.

If you are a fan of adventure, slow-burn romance, grumpy x sunshine, opposites attract, found family trope, and lovable side characters, this is the book for you! I listened to this audiobook in one sitting and enjoyed it so much that by the end I wanted to know more about these lovable characters.

The story follows Cat, a 30-year-old influencer who hits rock bottom when her partnership goes up in flames and she is shunned from her community of fellow influencers. She must now find her own way in life by getting herself a job. Once her uncle offers her a job as a social media strategist at the small national park he manages in Montana, her life is about to change, especially when her new co-worker Zaiah seems to be against her.

This is a closed-door romance that’s single POV and the book focuses a bit more on Cat’s story and her relationship with all the people working at the Kannery National Park. While the romance is a bit slower, the book feels fast-paced. There is plenty of action that happens, from Cat’s interactions with Zaiah, to her befriending Mina, Jax, and Kevin, and also to engaging in some healthy competition and banter with the team that calls themselves the Glacier Boys.

Let’s dig into the romance for a moment. It felt like a lot of the "he hates me moments" were more about Cat's insecurities than about Zaiah actually being mean to her. I really enjoyed his character, he was honest and blunt but not mean, and he even apologized to her when he was in the wrong. Not to mention the man warmed up her feet while she was cold in the snow, handed her the mug with the handle out so she wouldn’t burn herself, made her vegan chili so she could eat it at the cookoff, and he saved her from a moose. Can he get any more perfect?

As for the side characters, I loved Mina the most, she was adorably naive, but also passionate and caring. Serena was also great as she gave the best advice and was a loyal friend to Cat. Jax and Kevin were hilarious and I wished we could see more of their banter.

The audiobook narrator is Talon David and she did a great job at capturing the voice of Cat. Not only that, but she did a great job of differentiating between characters in dialogue. I also enjoyed the structure of the audiobook where every chapter was clearly broken down. As I mentioned, I listened to this book all in one sitting since the audiobook flowed smoothly from beginning to end.

Thank you, Thomas Nelson and NetGalley, for providing an audiobook ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the audio version. I really enjoyed this book. A very light hearted romcom. The story did get a bit cheesy when the love interest was telling the main female character why he broke up with his previous girlfriend. It made me laugh during that part instead of making me feel emotional?
But all in all if you are looking for a fast and easy read this is perfect for you.

This was such a sweet read!

I am such a sucker for a small town romance, and this one didn't disappoint. I really enjoyed the small town and the quirky employees that Cat meets while working at the National Park!

I will say that this book is definitely more along the lines of fiction with a slight romantic feel to it. I found myself wanting more from Cat and her relationship with Zaiah! I felt that the story primarily focuses on Cat's departure from her social media obsession and while that aspect was compelling, I wanted more. I was cringing a bit in the beginning with all of the influencer culture; however, it made sense for Cat's journey as a character.

I would personally do anything for Mina. I absolutely loved her as the quirky, girl next door, who is passionate and overly protective about the people she cares about.

I think that this book would have been incredible with some dual pov, a little more romance, and some spice:)

Overall, not a bad book to listen to on audio! I had a good time listening and I'm curious to see if she continues this story with a different character.

Thank you for Thomas Nelson and NetGalley for this audiobook arc in exchange for my honest review!

I read a book… nothing happened…

I’m not sure what it is about this book but there just seems to be a lot of book missing. The crisis is not especially dramatic, the denouement is anticlimactic, the main love interests only physical contact is holding hands. It’s just all around kind of “meh.” I think it will be hard to recall any details about the book in a few days because it simply did not engage me.

Side characters: I did like Mina a lot, but I am bummed that the one character who seems interested in environmental education and interpretation was treated poorly for his nerdiness and knowledge. As a person in the field of environmental education I had higher hopes of the portrayal of a group of park rangers. Also the feud with Glacier was not developed much. Just all of a sudden resolved in the epilogue.

As an aside, I like the cover art but 98% of this book occurs during winter… feel slightly misled by that!

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson audio for this well performed audio ARC.

This story grew on me slowly. Just moments before the 50% mark, I almost quit. I’m glad I didn’t bc it turned out to be a cute story of found family, opposites attract, and a lot of heart.

I loved the setting. I love National Parks. I love an opposites-attract romance. I love a good story of growth and development. This book hit on those things, but the story fell short for me.

The book is listed as a romance and while there is some, to me, it’s a little misleading. The book follows Cat Cranwell, who is a superstar influencer and her “fall from grace” after accusations of financial crimes to the wilderness of Montana where she goes to work for her uncle at Kannery National Park. We follow Cat’s growth and ultimately her realization that life is more than social media praise. And along the way, we find her falling for the park ranger who works with her uncle. The romance part of the book was a slow build and I appreciate that. But, I also would have enjoyed some additional growth and depth to that part of the story.

Overall, the story was cute. I listened to the audiobook, and I wasn’t a huge fan of the narrator, so it was a struggle to listen to it. I might have enjoyed it more had I read the physical book as opposed to listening to it.

I very much appreciate Thomas Nelson and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for my thoughts.

3.5 Stars, rounded up.

Hands down, this is my favorite Melissa Ferguson book! Social Media influencer, Cat Cranwell, stumbles when she partners with the wrong company and she needs to go low for a while. She ends up working in a small national park where she learns to not live on her phone all the time but puts those social media skills to work for the park. The side characters are entertaining especially her happy-go-lucky roommate! The book feels like a happy hallmark movie and I couldn’t stop smiling. If you’re looking for a quick read (or listen), you can’t go wrong with Famous for a Living.

I love Melissa Ferguson! She writes cute, fun, clean romance books that always have a great message. This one is definitely one of my favorites of her books. The romance was cute and sweet but the message of phone and social media addiction is something’s that’s not talked about enough. Talon David narrated the audiobook and did a fantastic job, as she always does. She just added to my overall enjoyment of the book. I highly recommend this, and all of Melissa’s books!

Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy of this audiobook!

** I will be uploading my review on Instagram, closer to pub date. I will update here with that link to my IG post as well**

This book reminded me so much of The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker. However, while this one had a similar vibe, I wouldn’t classify this as a romance book. Maybe a contemporary fiction with a dabble of romance?

I absolutely adored the characters (main and side). The main characters had great development, even if they didn’t have a distinguished POV.

The plot was entertaining. Social media influencer gets wrapped up in some online drama and flees to the middle-of-nowhere mountains of Montana to help out her uncle’s business (and of course to escape the haters). She relishes in the joys that nature has to truly offer, while meeting some friends along the way. Yes, she has a love interest when she arrives. However, they are just friends until about 80% in the book. Nothing happens more than a kiss (sorry to all my smut lovers).

The story moved fairly slow, which brought some points down for my overall intrigue. The plot had no big moments, in my opinion. It was a story that just coasted along. It was very different from what I expected when first starting the book.

I tandem read this with the audio and I have to say, I didn’t enjoy the narrators voice. I can’t distinguish what I disliked exactly, just that I didn’t like it.

Thank you Netgalley and publisher for the alc, in exchange for my honest feedback.

This was a cute novel about being an Instagram influencer and how your life can get overrun with the need to post things and be active to make a living on the app and other platforms. It was a cute romance that really shows that when we unplug from social media are life can be just a little bit fuller and meaningful.

This book was one of my most anticipated reads this year that I was really excited for. The concept sounded so fun: an influencer falling for a Park Ranger who owns a flip phone and stays far away from social media. I'm so sorry to say that I was soo dissapointed. It didn't live up to my hopes at all.
🌲
First of all this book is marketing as a "romance" book? Have I missed something? There was like zero romance. I would prefer to describe this book as women's fiction instead. I had a hard time to relate to the MC. Or the other characters too. The only thing that I really enjoyed to read about was the national park in Montana. And that's pretty much it.

I’m going back & forth between 3 and 3.5 ⭐️’s. I enjoyed this story, yes.. I didn’t love this story, I feel like it’s been done before. I was getting serious tourist attraction vibes which I didn’t like at all. The setting was nice, the hometown hottie was nice, the lesson about social media was nice.. but it was lacking something for me. I can’t put my finger on what. This was publishes in just a few short weeks!

Thanks so much to @netgalley + Thomas Nelson & @booksparks for my copies in exchange for my honest review!

Cat Cranwell is an influencer who partners with the wrong company & suddenly her popularity crashes. So her Uncle offers her a job doing social media for a small national park she takes the job. What she doesn’t realize is that part of her job is to get new visitors to the park, or else it will be taken over by a nearby, and much bigger, park.

The book was cute but I went into it thinking it was going to be a romance, and while some romance did happen I wouldn’t classify it as that. The book fits more into the found family genre, which I love but just wish that that had been mentioned up front.

This is a fast read (or listen in my case) & I highly recommend it!

This is for the ones who love city girl falls for the grumpy small town guy!

Now I’ll start of by sying this wasn’t my absolute favorite book but I still really enjoyed it! I really enjoyed the first half of the book but after that it did feel like it was starting to drag!

Overall it was a cute and funny read! The main characters were enjoyable and the plot was well thought out!

*Thank you so much to NetGalley, Melissa Ferguson and Thomas Nelson for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review!

This book unfortunately was not for me. I couldn't get into the storyline and I found the main character to be extremely unlikable. I ended up DNF'ing at the 25% point.

It’s not that I didn’t like this book, it’s just that I didn’t really feel much about it at all. It seemed to be pitched as a romance but I don’t think the couple ever even kissed. If they did, I think that should tell you how memorable it was. Despite the fact that I listened to this in a single day (it is quite short and I listened to it at 2x speed), I had to look up their names for this review.

Cat retreats to a national park in Montana to escape media backlash after she finds herself in the middle of a scandal. There she (apparently?) falls in love with Zaiah but he’s as unplugged as you can get and she’s an instagram influencer.

This book is definitely for the big city girl small town grumpy guy rom-com lovers mix.

I read this book in three days! I couldn't put it down, it was that addicting. It's like all my literary tropes have been combined into one perfect book.

The story follows Cat Cranwell, a famous influencer, living the so-called perfect life  until everything falls apart and she becomes public enemy number 1. After a scandal that affects her work and her life, she decides to accept her uncle's offer and go to work as a marketing manager in a small national park in Montana. Everything in Cat's life changes overnight, now she has a roommate and keeps bumping into the hottest but extremely grumpy ranger who simply hates technology and everything that makes Cat who she is.

As a good romance reader, there are some tropes I simply love, Grumpy X Sunshine being my favorite one. The tension between these two! Good lord! I really loved how Cat and Zaiah's emotional relationship was built. No instalove, instead we are presented with a slowburn that gives butterflies in your stomach! The way both o them had to face past traumas in order to build their relationship and be together was everything!

I had the opportunity to read this as an  audiobook and let me tell you, I was speechless! Melissa Ferguson's performance was absolutely perfect. The pacing kept me entertained and connected to the story. I could easily distinguish one character from another by the narration.

The only downside to this book, for me, is that the ending felt a bit rushed. I would have loved to see Cat and Zaiah physical relationship evolve in tandem with their emotional relationship. My impression was that something was missing at the end that unites the last chapters with the epilogue.

The perfect cozy read! Classic small town rom-com ❤️

I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook. It's a super fast paced story with characters that are likable.
However, i feel this is more of women's fiction or chick-lit than it is romance.
Which was quite disappointing as it wasn't what I expected it to be.

That being said, I Recommend this if you love a cute story in the women's fiction genre.

Thank you to Thomas Nelson and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review
