Thank you, Netgalley, for the ARC!

I binged this book on a commute and it was so relaxing to listen to. Maybe if I wasn’t on a train for nearly 6 hours, I would be irked at the slow pace since that usually gets me.

However, I will warn you that this is barely a romance. Cat and Zaiah don’t get together until nearly 80% in but hey, romantic development was a win. I’m not much for social media MC/plots, but sometimes an influencer x not tech savvy romance hits. If you want a woman’s lit that focuses more on Cat’s growth, this is a good one!

(And don’t get me wrong, the romance is so cute!)

This is a redemption tale of Cat, who makes some serious errors that cost her her cushy life, and the steps she takes to find herself again. She moves to a remote state park to help her uncle, and learns that sometimes the trappings are traps and make life too complicated. The characters were well-done and the romance was not spicy. Very sweet story. Great audio narration.

This was such a fun book. I am a big fan of Melissa Ferguson’s books, so I was so excited to read this one! I loved how this book showed social media addiction and the damage that it can do. Sometimes you don’t realize how addicted you are until you take a step back. I can see this book being turned into a Hallmark movie! I really enjoyed all the characters in this book, especially the main character. If you’re looking for a fun and easy read, I recommend checking this one out! I finished this one in two days, it was so good, I couldn’t put it down!

Funny, lighthearted read using all theclassic and well-beloved tropes of the genre - beautiful young woman in a need of fresh start after an abrupt change in her life; small-town (or a park in this case!) settings of a more peaceful life; hunky hometown guy, who is a polar opposite of the social butterly heroine - and the believable case of the opposites attract. The problem here? Heroine might be a bit addicted to her influencer life - and hero has a strong case of opposing any kind of social media.
This is a fresh, breezy and witty romance with a dose of food for thought. Not Dostoyevsky, but definitely not a shallow read! And the characters are lovable (the side ones maybe even more than the main hero, who might suffer a bit from the obvious hero trap: being a silent, yet deep down sensitive guy).
The character´s banter is lovable, the small park settings simply works and this read will definitely refresh you. Melissa Ferguson definitely is one of the stars of Christian romantic comedy genre.
And a personal remark: I very much liked how the herone does not need to completely redo her life to settle with a guy! Applause to the authoress for understanding her career and respecting that woman can have this kind of career.

The narration was fine and enhanced the listening experience.

This was a good story but not the romance I was hoping for. I have read a few influencer main character stories lately and they aren’t my favourite.

Perfect summer and fall read! Also very swoon worthy.

Cat Cranwell is easy to love and easier to roll your eyes at because she’s so out of touch with reality sometimes. So, when she is screwed over and ends up moving out to be with her uncle in Montana it’s easy to see the comedy of events coming. While there she is thrown together with Zaiah, the super sexy park ranger, and they could not be more opposite. *swoon*

Zaiah is outdoors personified, hates social media, is gruff and quiet, but can’t help but hold a soft spot for Cat as she starts to discover who she really is away from sharing herself with the world.

Opposites attract pseudo enemies to lovers is an adorable read and a fantastic audio listen!!!

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Publishing for the ARC.

Cat Cranwell is a relatable character who undergoes personal growth and better understanding of who she is as a person. I, myself, and not an influencer or full-time content creator, but the connection to social media was reflective. I loved the setting of the National Park, and found joy in the friendships and camaraderie of the park rangers.

I love this story — another winner from Melissa Ferguson, however, I wasn't a huge fan of the narrator of this book!

Thank you Libro.fm and Thomas Nelson for the gifted book! I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Cat Cranwell's life is picture perfect. She's Insta-famous and on the cusp of launching a new business venture that will open even more doors for her. Until her business partner is accused of serious financial crimes, bringing her down with him. To get out from under the microscope of the public's attention, Cat accepts her uncle's offer to work with him in Kannery National Park, Montana.

Now Cat is off grid, almost literally. And she is having to learn to live in the moment instead of staging each moment. Along the way she makes new friends, discovers new parts of herself, and begins falling for the old school park ranger with the handsome face. Will she fall in love with a life and a man opposite of all she has been working for?

This cover and release date are deceiving. This book is set during the winter, not summer. And that's not the only thing deceiving about it. This was marketed as a rom com but it is a women's fiction book with a romance side story.

Those two failings aside, I think if you go into this book with the correct expectations it has an interesting premise and fun characters that make it an enjoyable read. I really appreciated how the topic of social media addiction was handled and how it wasn't a black and white issue because it's not in real life either. The side characters in this one make the book for me. They are quirky and charming and oh so endearing. I wouldn't mind a spin off for a few of them. All in all a good read.

- opposites attract
- contemporary romance
- no spice
- 30yo fem lead

It was not for me. It is my mistake for having asked to read this ARC, unfortunately I did read another book previously by Melissa Ferguson and I hadn't enjoyed that, and made the mistake of asking to read this as well so please take my review with a grain of salt.

It was slow paced... the story didn't connect with me.

Book 106 of 200

🌟🌟🌟💫

I enjoy books by Melissa. They are always filled with wit and I have fun going through the stories.

Not usually my kind of read but I do make exceptions for certain authors of the genre and she is one of them.

You of course kinda can figure out the ending but it is the journey there that matters.

"Famous for a Living" by Melissa Ferguson is an incredibly charming and heartwarming romantic comedy that is sure to leave you with a smile on your face. With an engaging plot, relatable characters, and a healthy dose of humor, this book is a must-read for anyone looking for a feel-good read.

The story follows Cat Cranwell, an Insta-famous influencer who falls from grace when her business partner is accused of serious financial crimes. Desperate to escape the scrutiny of the online world, Cat accepts an offer to work in Kannery National Park, Montana, where she meets Zaiah, a ruggedly handsome park ranger who hates anything remotely connected to social media.

As Cat adjusts to her new life in the wilderness, she begins to discover the most honest parts of herself and starts to ask the hard questions about what truly matters in life. Along the way, she also finds herself falling for Zaiah, despite their vastly different lifestyles and opinions.

Ferguson's writing style is engaging and witty, making the book a quick and enjoyable read. The characters are well-developed and easy to relate to, especially Cat, who is both flawed and endearing. The romance between Cat and Zaiah is sweet and heartwarming, and the tension between their differing lifestyles adds an extra layer of depth to the story.

Overall, "Famous for a Living" is a delightful read that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romantic comedies or is looking for an uplifting story about the power of love and self-discovery.

this was a good book! I enjoyed the plot..I would consider this book more of a finding yourself rather than romance. Overall a good listen!

This book was not my favorite as I kept comparing it to another book but if I hadn’t read the other book as an audiobook as well I could see myself enjoying this one as well! I will probably give it another try in the future as I think I would like it. But as of right now it wasn’t meant for me. I would recommend this book to others!

Thank you to @netgalley and @thomasnelson for a free copy of this ebook and audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

The rise and fall from fame can be brutal, especially when it come to social media. Online trolls and paparazzi can be relentless enough that escape is the only way to survive. That is the spot that Cat Cranwell finds herself in as she retreats to her uncles in Montana.

This is a lovely grumpy sunshine book by @our_friendly_farmhouse that is relatable for those trying to make their marks on social media…bookstagrammers included. I adored this book, the chemistry between the two main characters and their interactions.

I recommend picking this up!

I was so excited for Famous for a Living - an influencer from New York who falls from grace and moves to Montana to work with her uncle at Kannery National Park. However, I left this book wanting more.

The first few chapters, as Cat in New York and her world is beginning to spiral, I was invested, but it lost some steam after that.

I wanted more of the relationship build-up, I wanted more of the park, I wanted more of Cat’s adjustment to living a slower, more rural life in the mountains. The story highlights a lot of the Park’s big events in the winter, with some fun banter amongst the younger staff members, but we never learn more about what Cat is doing to promote the Park.

I will say, as a National Park Geek, I was thankful for the moose scene. Too many times I see people feeding wildlife, or trying to pet them.

While this was a light read, and I enjoyed listening to the audiobook, I honestly wanted more depth from the characters, the relationship, more world building…just more.

Thank you to Thomas Nelson publishing and NetGalley for the advanced listening copy of Famous for a Living.
