The description hooked me and the book didn't disappoint. I enjoyed the change the characters went through. Good self discovery story. Great reminder that there is more to life than our phones.

Audio: 3/5 - Not a huge fan of the narrator. Sorry! The narrative was delivered just a little awkwardly, but it did get much better as it went along!

I liked this story so more than I expected to!
The characters are surprisingly well developed very quickly, and there’s an ease to the storytelling without it being fluffy. I was worried at moments that the premise would turn preachy or predictable, but it didn’t! I appreciated seeing the characters both grow and I thought the twists the plot took were wonderfully unique.

Really great clean romance!

They're was no chemistry for the characters and it just could have been so much more. I also think I've read the same story line 3 or 4 times.

honestly i left this book annoyed and confused.

I’m not quite sure why this is considered a romance. This is more woman’s fiction / coming of age. there was so aspects of romance until almost 87% through.

I did enjoy the narrator , she gave more to it than i would have gotten from reading it.

I couldn’t connect to the FMC. I found her cringy and just hard to digest. She was very superficial and just irked me.

not my cup of tea.

Feel good romcom. Loved the writing, the descriptive details of the surroundings was great. Characters were fun to get to know. Felt the ending was a bit abrupt. It was summed up real quick. The problem with Bobby was resolved with Serena delivering the news to her in Montana. Cat and Zaiah’s relationship was a bit yes and no. There was chemistry but maybe needed a bit more to really sell it at the end.
The audio narration was well spoken.

Thank you Netgally, Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Audio, and the author for the free ALC in exchange for my honest review. I loved that the social media influencer had a revelation thanks to our MMC. I found it a little dragged on and a tad bit repetitive. It felt like a fresh story.

Famous for a Living is the story of Cat Cranwell a social media influencer who has fallen from and is forced to to lay low at a small National Park in Montana where her Uncle works. Cue the rugged outdoorsman Zaiah and you see where this is headed.

Y’all I wanted to love this but other than a moose encounter this story was a snoozefest. The author tried to tie in a PSA about not using your phone so much and it was just eh. The romance was also lacking. There is zero chemistry between Cat and Zaiah. Add the fact that this is closed door and this one wasn’t for me.

If you like city folk learning to rough it in the country consider check this one out.

How do you feel about rural life? Could you live in the country?

I typically read more mystery and suspense, but every once in while I need a not so intense book in my literary diet. This book was the escape I needed. I have read all of Melissa Ferguson's books so far, and I appreciate the clean lighthearted romance with personal growth and life lessons sprinkled in. Did this book change my life? Not really-but very few books do. It met all the expectations I had for it, and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a clean, lighthearted read to take to the beach or pool this summer.

When I first saw the cover of this book I loved it. Automatically thought some type of wilderness romance story. Unfortunately, there was quite a lot less romance in this book than I was expecting. I would have filed this more as a women’s fiction than a straight romance.

I still enjoyed the story of self discovery and learning to back away from all things technology and social media. How easily it can grab a hold on your every day life and seemingly ability to function. There were some great take away messages in this book.

For someone who’s life was all social media, all the time - I was quite impressed how easily Cat embrasses the wilderness; snow hikes, getting into the cold streams (even if there was a photo trying to happen here) and even bunking with a younger, very enthusiast junior park ranger in a poorly heated cabin.

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for an ARC copy of this audiobook!

This is not really a romantic novel, let's start with that.

Let's say that this story is eye opening to the thing that is happening even more in today's society - addiction to social media and being on the phone ALL THE TIME (yes. all caps intended)! Every young girl seeking to be the next Youtuber/content creator/influencer this is the book about what it actually means and what it does to the personality and Your daily life. It's easy to seek popularity but that also gives a lot of negativity and overly big recognition. Not to even mention that You are getting obsessed about being on trend, getting the best picture, most liked picture, events and PR packages. That leads to not living Your life and not being Your true self.

Main character Cat Cranwell has the chance to escape the social media farce after false accusations to once again find what is important in life. Sure, happy for her, but with her love interest - nothing really happened between them. Unfortunately the story is easily forgettable and I didn't get what I was craving from the story. But the cover though is really eye catching and really pretty.

I really appreciate the experience!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Cat Cranwell, a super famous influencer, gets into trouble when the guy that she works with is involved in some financial crimes. She is basically cancelled until her uncle offers her a job working with him at Kannery National Park in Montana.... Cat is very thankful for her uncle but living in Montana and working for a national park is so far away from her normal life. When she gets there, the small town takes her in and even though it takes a little time she starts to grow comfortable, the cute park ranger and friendly roommate help. Cat is worried that she won't be able to leave her glamorous life behind and when given the opportunity to go back, she does. Will her feelings for Zaiah survive the distance?

Loved this book!! All the characters were so good and the setting was perfect! This is very light on the romance but I didn’t mind because the story was really good. The narrator also did a really good job. I’m definitely going to be reading anything this author writes. If you love National Parks and getting a glimpse at the lives of social media influencers then definitely read this one.

Melissa Ferguson has to be one of my favorite Rom-Com writers at the moment. Famous for a Living was a fantastic book to read and even listen to. After a deal goes wrong, the famous Cat travels to Montana for a fresh start and a reality check. Her uncle offers her to work for him and she accepts. There were parts of this book that I lost track of where I was at and was a little confused. But, overall I enjoyed it.

Melissa never disappoints.

The narrator does a fantastic job switching between the voices and allowing the story to move seamlessly through the entire story. If you’re having a hard time reading this book, listen to the audiobook!

I only read these kind of books for the the fun, banter, and happily ever afters and this gave me that and more. It provided a perspective on technology and how social media affects our lives in such impactful ways, good and bad. I really appreciated the insight into both the harmful affects and the positive impacts it can have on one's life. This book balanced the city versus country ways of living in a very well done manner. Zaiah proves to be such a perfect example of this and their relationship demonstrates the two realities so well. When Cat falls from grace as a socialite social media icon, she finds herself in Montana with her state park ranger uncle and a cast of park staff that bring the humor and charm. The fun and games ensue, the shenanigans one gets up to when you have little options for fun. I liked that Cat had personal reasons for her choices, both of which she regrets but also doesn't, and how Zaiah too has his reasons for his opinions. As someone who finds myself in these same daily battles of the increasing presence and pressures of online life versus offline, I enjoyed those aspects of this book, giving the book insight and depth to the characters. I actually wanted for more of Cat's backstory. The creative games were hilarious, and I absolutely adored Serena, who I found hilarious. This is a standalone, but if Melissa expanded this world to have a book about Serena, I am in.

It was okay but nothing really stood out just another typical romance. I enjoyed the audiobook voice so that is a plus.

This was an extremely pleasant audiobook to listen to. Cat is a character that everyone feels like they know, social media obsessed and always doing it for the ‘gram. When trouble hits and she needs to escape, her Uncle Terry gives her a job at his workplace in the wilderness of Montana. Obviously, there is also a rough handsome man nearby who happens to be single. Zaiah is such a lovely gruff wilderness ranger and is opposite of everything Cat. I really enjoyed seeing how much depth the author captured between these two characters. I really felt like I was part of the National Park Crew with how well the writing and character development came along. The sudden concerns about aging in general towards the end felt really out of place and not well incorporated into the book. Overall, I was really happy with the ending and the book in general. 4⭐️, 0🌶

📖 Review: Famous for a Living by Melissa Ferguson

Famous for a Living is a sweet and funny romance novel that will have you laughing along with Cat’s antics.

Cat Cranwell is “famous for a living”. She is a sought after social media influencer, and on her thirtieth birthday she is launching a brand new app with her partner, Bobby. Unfortunately, 3 months later, the app is sued with data fraud, and Cat is shunned from her platform. She’s innocent though, and her best friend, Serena, suggests getting off the grid by staying with Cat’s Uncle Terry, at Kannery National Park, in the middle-of-nowhere Montana.

🌄Beautiful settings
📖Books by Sophie Kinsella

I enjoyed reading this laugh-out-loud novel that addresses the current issue of being addicted to one’s phone through Cat’s internal conflict about why she is an influencer. The story also has some fantastic secondary characters that make for a quirky cast that brighten the frozen Montana tundra and the antics that follow. Overall, it was an enjoyable read with delightful characters and a sweet romance.

I loved this book so much that when the opportunity came up to listen to the audiobook, I couldn’t help myself, and I enjoyed it all over again. The narrator does an excellent job bringing Cat and the rest of the characters to life.

Famous for a Living comes out on May 16, and will be a light and charming novel that, despite its wintery setting, will make a perfect beach read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for this ALC in return for an honest review.

I really, really wanted to love this one because I had seen a lot of really good reviews, but it was just missing that extra oomph I look for.

Thank you so much Netgalley for the audiobook of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I will say it without any shame, I really disliked this book. I'm tired of books about social media obsessed people who like to shit on social media. It can get annoying especially how detail it gets on brands and how to set up social media post for content creators. YAWN!

Honestly, it's just very first world problem. poor girl is addicted to social media and all her personality has to do with social media and falls in love with someone who hates social media cause being a social media addict ran people over, so he feels guilty about it.

Can I also hate on the fact that a book marketed as romance has no romance until possibly 55% in.

NEXT!
