This is a fun series of books and I love to see that they’re branching out into different religions. While I don’t understand everything in this book, I like that it is written not to teach people about Hanukkah, but rather for those who already celebrate Hanukkah. It’s a great addition to this series, and one that will be loved for years to come.
BLURB:
Hanukkah is coming, and the dinos are all busy getting ready!
They make brisket and latkes, and the dino-kids play with a dreidel, act out the Hanukkah story, open gifts, and eagerly await their turn to light the menorah.
Dinosaurs big and small gather to decorate, eat, and even compete in party festivities like only prehistoric carnivores and herbivores would. Lisa Wheeler and Barry Gott—creators of the enormously popular Dino-Sports picture books—team up to create celebrations of epic proportions!
OPINION:
This book was a creative way to introduce Hanukkah to children who do not participate in the Jewish faith. My 5 year old son really liked the illustrations and asked if we could make almost all of the food dishes that were included. I only semi-know how to make latkes, so a lot of googling ensued.
We will recommend this book to all children of elementary school age and younger.
Thank you to for the free eARC in exchange for our honest opinions.
What I love most about this book is that it's not overshadowed by Christmas in any way. I was sure that because there's an outside scene, there'd be like Christmas decor on the neighbors house, but there doesn't seem to be any hint of that. Great read!
Dino-Hanukkah is a cute story with dinosaurs that explains Hanukkah and the lighting of the Menorah. I love how the story takes us through the holiday and teaches kids about different Jewish foods and traditions.
It's important that our kids see themselves in books. This gives our Jewish kids representation, and also teaches non-Jewish kids about parts of the Jewish faith. It's a great way for kids to learn and understand each other better.
One thing I also loved about this book is that each of the dinosaurs is named for the type they are. Between this and the illustrations, kids can also learn the different types of dinosaurs. Great book on many levels!
Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this eARC in exchange for my honest review on the book!
Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book. The book Dino -Hanukkah highlights Hanukkah and talks about how it is celebrated throughout the eight nights. The rhyming scheme of the text is spot on and the illustrations are bright and colorful. It is a cute way to introduce children to the meaning and fun that is Hanukkah. And who wouldn’t love a story told by dinosaurs.

Dinosaurs are always fun, and this book about hanukkah is brilliant, it’s told in rhyming couplets about all the fun things dinos do on hanukkah, it’s a very fun and clever way to explain this amazing holiday.
I’m sure the kids are going to love reading this book, I’m definitely recommending it!

Told in rhyming couplets, the story shows how the dinosaurs prepare for and celebrate Hannukah. They clean the house, make food, give gifts, play dreidel, and light the menorah every night to honor the miracle of one day's oil lasting eight days.
The food! They make brisket, latkes with applesauce and sour cream, kugel, and sufganiyot.
Fun way to explain Hannukah to children.
The illustrations were very bright and adorable. I don’t celebrate Hanukkah but it was nice to see a story about it based for children to learn about other holidays.
Thank you for providing me the opportunity to review "Dino-Hanukkah”. Very cute and the kids will love this holiday book of fun! I am appreciative and leave my sincerity review voluntarily.
Written in rhyme, Lisa Wheeler’s Dino-Hanukkah is an entertaining introduction to the holiday for young readers. While each dinosaur has it’s chance to shine, the most prominent components of the story are the excitement, traditions, and celebration of the eight nights which make Hanukkah so special. Barry Gott’s illustrations add a burst of color not only to the page, but further the reader’s enjoyment of the narrative. Whether a dinosaur aficionado or a reader looking to celebrate the season, Dino-Hanukkah has something for everyone.
Thank you to NetGalley and Lerner Publishing Group for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This book covered many things that people do in Hanukkah traditions, but there were some words that youngsters might not know such as marinade and brisket. I think for the right audience it would be ok.
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the eARC! Dino- Hanukkah is a perfect book for Dinosaur lovers. The Dinosaurs are back and are getting ready to celebrate Hanukkah. They go through the traditions of Hanukkah, and how the holiday is celebrated. This is a perfect addition to dinosaur lovers library, as well as the holiday section of a bookshelf. The rhyming throughout the story is a great way to expose young readers to rhyming. The pictures are bright and colorful making them very appealing.
What fun!
All the Dinos are ready for Hanukkah and the Celebration of Lights begins. Each one lights a candle on each of the eight nights, complete with gifts and games. The rhyming makes this celebration special.
The illustrations by Barry Gott are delightful, imaginative, and colorful.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, but especially to a school or public library!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from Lerner Publishing Group/Carolrhoda Books ® via NetGalley. Thank you!
Loved this Hanukkah picture book for kids. The who fact that it's Dino's celebrating Hanukkah makes it even better.
What an adorable book! My son loved having me read this rhyming story aloud to him! The dino pictures are adorable (love the messy Triceratops kitchen lol) and the story of Hanukkah told over the eight nights incorporating the different traditons is perfect for young ones. Definitely a great addition to any home for holiday reading!
This book was so cute! Definitely continues the genius that is Lisa Wheeler! And very inclusive too, I am so happy to see more books about more holidays and cultures!

Thank you NetGalley and Lerner Publishing Group, Carolrhoda Books ® for accepting my request to read and review Dino-Hanukkah.
Hit! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story includes the preparation, the invitations and the lighting of the menorah. Gift giving was prevalent, and my favorite line was "We love the sporting gear and You too." The whimsical illustrations played a role in the story and held their own.
I would gift this, given the religious nature -- I wouldn't leave the reading to the babysitter. However, I would teach how to play with a dreidel and its meaning.

Written by Lisa Wheeler and illustrated by Barry Gott, this richly illustrated book is not just a perfect gift for a Jewish youngster. This children’s picture book could serve as a starting point for introducing non-Jewish children to Judaism and helping them to understand the diversity of people in the United States.
The story followed a group of dinosaurs who gather together to celebrate Hanukkah. They make lates and jelly doughnuts, each brisket and even kugel! The author is careful of using overly long words. For example, instead of Tyrannosaurus rex, she simply uses T. rex, and so on. By shortening these sometimes very long scientific names and pairing them with easily identifiable dinosaurs, young children will easily be able to read this book.
I thought that this book was darling and hope that it will end up in both public and personal libraries throughout the United States.
I've picked up the dino books in this series for a while for my 3 year old son. We don't celebrate Hanukkah but I want my son to learn about all the different holidays and traditions.
This is an easy read. Each page only has a few sentences. The graphics are bright, fun, and colorful. This time I found the dinosaur names easy to say versus in the past books I have struggled some.
