I requested to read and review this book for free from Harper Collins Christian Publishing company. Colleen Coble has written another fantastic book. It has drama, mystery, romance and suspense. What do you do when your whole world gets turned upside down? Carly is about to find out and how she handles it will mean many things for her future. Can she do it alone, can her faith get her thru what live throws at her? Carly's family had been through some of the same trials but each sister or family member has a different outlook on life. Can family stick together when their foundation is shaken more then they can imagine. Lucas and Ryan are the next door neighbors. They have had their own faith tested and life has shaped them in their own way. But when their safety is threatened how will they handle it? Can each family come together to find what is right or will their differences tear them apart. This is for any type of reader and can be read anywhere.
I absolutely loved Fragile Designs by Colleen Coble! Carly returns home after the savage murder of her police officer husband, finding out she’s pregnant before she has a chance to tell him to her grandmother’s house. As she goes through her great grandmother’s belongings Carly finds a priceless artifact that has ties to her husband’s murder and opens up Pandora’s Box to various family secrets. As her whole family’s life is at stake, she entrusts a man’s help that Carly could care less about, Lucas.
Colleen Coble never ceases to amaze me with her consistency of excellent writing and the twists and turns she always brings and Fragile Designs is no different! I love the Faberge eggs and Russian mafia thread to the story as well as the genealogy aspect of the story. I love how I always stayed on the edge of my seat with the story. I love how the relationships evolved during the book and the suspense unfolded. I highly recommend Fragile Designs by Colleen Coble! Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. My review is also on Goodreads.
Fragile Designs by Colleen Coble is a romantic suspense that kept me guessing. It shows dysfunctional family relationships between married couples, as well as nuclear families.
Carly and Lucas are a good team as they investigate several deaths, and do their best to protect her family from thieves seeking a valuable family treasure.
This was a page turner, and the resolution surprised me. I enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who likes mysteries.
I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley and am leaving this review voluntarily.

You’ll love to root for Carly Harris - she’s the heroine who overcomes. She’s had quite a past and present and there are still roadbumps ahead, but her past danger has made her strong and she relies on that strength for courage.
I’ve come to love Colleen Coble’s books because not only am I assured a clean read, but I’m always challenged by the different perspectives she presents. I appreciate the chance to work on empathy and sympathy when I see others facing battles I’ve never faced. I can always count on her books to circle back to the theme of forgiveness - for ourselves and for others. Sometimes it’s just the nudge I need to get out of the rut I’m stuck in personally.
As with each of the five Coble books I’ve read, this one is inspirational, it challenges and entertains and always leaves me with hope.
What a fantastic title!
This book may have been many years in the making but it was worth waiting for, Colleen Coble. I think it may be my favourite one so far!
I was gifted this copy by Thomas Nelson and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.
I found this book to be very interesting and intriguing. I would recommend this a friend because this is a book for everyone. I really enjoyed emerging myself into this book and it was just wonderful. This book evened my eyes to quite a few things and it’s one of those books that I’ll think about for quite awhile.
Wow! Colleen Coble is certainly a talented author; she continually writes incredibly detailed books with interesting plots that grab my attention and hold onto it until the very last page.
I love how Colleen meshed an original mystery with well know antique collectibles into a riveting, suspenseful page turner. The characters are well developed with many of them having flaws that make them all the more endearing, and I really like the fact that they pray in this story. I always appreciate books that don't contain profanity or sex--but adding prayer--that makes this next level for me!
This is definitely a five star book!
I found this a good entertainer. We, Indians, often tend to view stories from the prism of our film industry – Bollywood, for entertainment value. This is a story which is an ideal fit for a Bollywood film with separated twins, hidden treasure, murder, adultery, deceit, gangs and suspense.
Carly Harris goes to their garage and finds her husband Eric’s truck engine running. He is a police officer, and it has been 3 years since their marriage. To her shock, she finds Eric murdered at home. The story then shifts to 9 months later and Carly now has a two-month-old son Noah. She is now staying with her grandmother Mary Tucker. Mary suggests that with help from her younger sisters Amelia & Emily, they refurbish their home and launch an inn. They plan to engage their neighbour Ryan, who had in the past been Carly’s boyfriend, to remodel the place. In their attic, Carly finds her great grandmother’s letter which mentions that her grandmother Mary was adopted and separated from her twin sister Elizabeth during adoption. There also seems to be some treasure left behind for them. Eric possibly knew this as he had offered to help sort out their old stuff. Cary wonders if this has anything to do with Eric’s murder and asks Ryan’s brother Lucas, a police officer, if he can help. She also approaches Eric’s former partner Kelly to see if she knows anything about the matter.
The blurb for the book is far more detailed than what I would consider necessary. The book is fast paced with a lot of events / crimes, search for a treasure, uncovering of secrets and build-up to the climax. I liked Carly’s character, her strength, attempt to get on with her life and working to repair the misunderstandings with her sisters. I found her father’s character poorly developed. The later stages of the story are predictable, though there are twists and revelations.
A decent entertainer!
My rating: 3.5 / 5.
Colleen Coble does it again. Another start up all night, keep you at the edge of your seat book. I thoroughly enjoyed Fragile Designs. I loved the story line, the side sparks, and the intrigue that grabs you from the very beginning and just doesn't let you go. Well done!
I've never held anything as expensive as a Fabergé egg in the years I've worked at our family antique store, but I have definitely beheld some treasures. I picked up a review copy of Fragile Designs because of the hint of the theme of antiques. It definitely had a different feel than some of Coble's other books I've read--perhaps slightly less bloody and creepy! I was unsure where the story line was headed, and was worried about a love triangle (something I'm not usually a fan of). But even though it moved a bit slowly at first it was a solid story in the end--complete with the Russian Mafia and the FBI.
This book really picked up speed as multiple murders resulted from Carly's discovery of a Faberge egg. With the help of her neighbor, Lucas, she discovers her grandmother has a twin who owns the surprise associated with the egg. When they are all--family and egg--reunited, she is able to sell it for millions. The story includes the Russian mafia and others who want to steal the egg. The story resolves with family relationships resolved and Carly finding love with Lucas. I enjoyed the journey.
This was a fast-paced mystery that kept me reading. It was also very clean without being overtly faith based. Carly’s police officer husband is killed. She moves in with her grandmother and finds out that her grandmother was adopted and never knew it. This begins a series of scary events. What is really happening? Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
The perfect mix of exciting, dramatic, and heart-warming feel good, this book was an easy and enjoyable read. Just enough twist and turns to keep you guessing, but still a plausible story line. The love story wove in seamlessly and did not take away from the action or the suspense. While I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this book, I wouldn’t necessarily read it again, which is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. Overall, very enjoyable read, and I always like a book that doesn’t shy away from including prayer and Christianity.
One of the best Colleen Coble books I've read yet! Wow!
This novel kept me turning the pages long into the night because I couldn't put this fantastic adventure down.
Fast paced and lots of twists and turns along with family dynamics added to the mix. What more could one want?!
We can't forget the special mystery either. Oh my!
I learned a lot from that special mystery too. I never knew they existed.
Wonderful characters and plot that will keep you invested until the novel is finished.
I loved Carly's Grandma. I enjoyed how she "manipulated " her grandchildren into doing what she wanted. Sometimes I laughed outright at her.
In my opinion I believe that she made this story.
But I'll reserve that for other readers.
5 stars hands down. I loved every minute.
I highly recommend it
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Since her police-officer husband Eric’s mysterious murder, Carly Harris has been struggling to support herself and their infant son. Her career as an antique dealer isn’t sustainable, nor is her dream of becoming a novelist. So when her grandmother proposes she and her two sisters restore the family’s large Beaufort home and turn it into a bed-and-breakfast, she immediately gets to work clearing out the house. In the process, she uncovers a family secret that Eric kept hidden. And an heirloom that the wrong person wouldn’t hesitate to kill for. Homicide detective Lucas Bennett isn’t his neighbor’s biggest fan, not since she broke his brother’s heart years ago. But when Carly turns to Lucas for help, believing she’s found a lost Fabergé egg that would be worth millions and that could put her family’s lives in danger, he can’t help but get involved. Soon, they’re entangled in a mystery with threads that lead all the way to the Russian mafia. Lucas has gotten in deep, and while he trusts his ability to keep Carly and her family safe, he begins to realize he’s vulnerable to an unexpected kind of danger. As they continue working closely together, Carly and Lucas realize they may have found something more precious than gold.
I was introduced to Colleen Coble through my church book club. I enjoyed the book we read so much that I have found and read several of her books since. She writes a great, clean mystery with a romance element. She always seems to come up with a new mystery that pulls you in from the beginning of the story. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a chance to read the author's latest book.
Fragile Designs is a family drama situated in the South. There are a number of romantic and mysterious twists and turns as the sometimes unreal story plays out to the conclusion. Love, happiness, redemption, and restoration abound throughout the tale.
Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson - Fiction for the opportunity to read this ARC.
Just wow! I’m so thrilled to find a new to me author! Colleen Coble is fantastic! I loved everything about this story. So many secrets and lies. It was impossible to know who to trust. Lots of creepy vibes and then huge family vibes. Lots of strength in underlying tones. Packed with emotion. Don’t miss this one!
Thank you NetGalley, Colleen Coble and Tomas Nelson Fiction for the opportunity to read and review this cracker of a book.
Colleen Coble has done it again. Fragile Designs is a fast paced romantic mystery that involves a lost Faberge egg, the Russian mob, and a family shattered. The story is filled with courage, family love, and generosity. Family wounds can be healed, hearts can be mended, and love can be found. This is a story you don’t want to miss! I was able to read an ARC on #NetGalley.
I have always loved Colleen Coble's romantic suspense books and was excited to get my hands and eyes on her newest release, Fragile Designs. No disappointment here. It was great. Five stars.
Loved it!!! I really didn't know much about Fabergé eggs, so I found the history surrounding them interesting. I was really wishing Carly's sisters would be targeted. Who would miss them? They were so spoiled and bratty and thought Carly owed them the world. Their arrival at the house seemed so premature for the work they would be doing on the bed-and-breakfast. I was shocked when it was finally revealed who was behind everything. Not surprised that this person would go to those lengths just for money. She/He seemed the type to put money above anything else. Carly was lucky to find Lucas. He's definitely a better choice than his brother or Eric. Eric's greedy and sneaky actions set everything in motion. I loved the mystery behind the eggs and the adoptions. I couldn't wait for everything to be solved.
Definitely recommend the book. Loved the characters, story and writing style. It was a great mystery that had me guessing until the end. Look forward to reading more books by the author.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Thomas Nelson--FICTION through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I loved this novel — the connection with a Faberge egg was such a fun approach. The hero and heroine are fantastic and I love the way they play off each other. They are both surrounded by a rich group of additional characters. There are some twists and turns and moments of taunt tension. Another great book from one of my favorite authors.
