The Coworker is another gripping page-turner from Freida McFadden, packed with suspense, unexpected twists, and unreliable characters. The contrast between Dawn, the awkward outsider, and Natalie, the office star, makes for an intriguing dynamic, and as the mystery unfolds, it’s impossible to know who to trust.

The pacing is spot on, with short, punchy chapters that make it easy to fly through in one sitting. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, McFadden throws in another twist to keep you on edge. The office setting adds an extra layer of tension—proving that workplace drama can be far more sinister than it seems.

If I had to nitpick, some moments felt a little over the top, but that’s all part of the fun. It’s an addictive, entertaining thriller with plenty of surprises—perfect for fans of psychological suspense!

"The Coworker" was just OK. I'm not sure what all the hype about Frieda McFadden is all about, her books are just your typical, run-of-the-mill thrillers, not too special, in my opinion.

I really enjoyed this one. I had been in a reading slump for months it seemed like prior to reading this one and was looking for something to pull me out of it. Freida McFadden books are always fun. They are always a quick read or listen and entertaining. I found this one to be very fun and entertaining and it kept me guessing through out. I am really glad I got a chance to check this one out! Thanks to Sourcebooks for my copy!!

I love Freida McFadden books. There always seem to be so many twists and turns and I don't seem to be able to guess any of them. Any Freida McFadden book is a must read for me!

I picked this up right after finishing a really heavy book, and The Coworker was exactly what I needed: light, twisty, and entertaining. Freida McFadden has a way of pulling you in with her simple, page-turner style, and this one did just that.

I liked the two main characters … there’s some real tension and mystery between them that kept me hooked. I won’t spoil anything, but in the second half of the book, one of them changes a lot, and while it felt a little out of character, it worked for the story and kept me on my toes. I also loved how the women’s backstory tied into the bigger mystery… it made the plot feel more layered without getting overly complicated.

This isn’t the kind of life changing book that will leave you reeling or shattered …it’s just a good, solid mystery that keeps you turning the pages. It’s classic Freida McFadden: fun, twisty, and never too overwhelming. If you’re looking for something engaging and easy to read, this one’s a great pick!

THIS BOOK! I am still mind blown. So good. So twisty. Unputdownable! Everything Freida McFadden is good but this takes the cake.

I enjoyed the Coworker but I will say it may be the least fave of my Freida books. The turtles were a little too over the top for me. Other than that, I truly enjoyed the read. I’m giving it a 4 stars.

I am knee deep in a Freida binge and I don’t want it to end! Her books are something that I can listen to on audio all day while doing chores since they are easy to keep up with.

It's a good story although I feel the amount of times the turtles are mentioned was distracting. I thought the ending was not very good, I got easily bored of the this book but overall I love this author, it just was not her best. I have read all her books and this one is my least favorite.

One of the best books I’ve ever read. It had all the elements of a great read. I was shocked, humored, upset, and melancholy, all at the same time!! I will definitely read more of the author’s books!!!

Five stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

This author can be very inconsistent with the quality of the work, but this bOok was a really enthralling adventure, and a story full of twists and turns.

3.5 stars. While I was very intrigued by the dual narrators (while not trusting one), it was a bit slow in the middle. Fun twist in part two. Don't think I actually really liked any of the characters, especially Natalie. They just made Dawn sound a bit too pathetic. The ending fizzled out unfortunately.

Freida McFadden does such a fantastic job of hooking the reader into the world of characters who just aren't very likable. They aren't likable, but they are despicably entertaining and it's just so much fun to get pulled into their world and out of the real world for a while. Neither Dawn nor Natalie are people I would ever want to spend time with if they were real people, but they are absolutely intriguing as fictional characters. I have been recommending Freida McFadden to my readers who just need to escape for a bit and they love it!

Freida McFadden has always been an auto buy author for me and always a good read for any type of mood. This one fell short for me, I was let down by the overall story and characters and the repetitive use of the word turtle.

The Coworker by Freida McFadden was an easy read. I have to admit it wasn't my favorite Freida book, but it was entertaining and had some good twists and turns throughout! Freida is a writer that pulls you into the story quickly, so as always with this one I was able to read it quickly! I appreciate the twists she adds because it always leaves you questioning whether or not you have guessed the outcome correctly!

Short synopsis: When Natalie’s strange coworker Dawn doesn’t show up one day, she goes to her house to investigate. Going in the back door Natalie sees blood and broken glass, prompting a search.

My thoughts: Freida can deliver a quick twisty thriller unlike any other author I’ve read before. She pulls you in quickly and you have to just keep reading to figure out what is going on.

While the twists in this weren’t completely unique I didn’t see them coming. I loved how the emails added dimension to the story and really made me feel for Dawn and the situations she faced in the past.

Read if you love:
- Missing persons story
- Your coworkers (that you wouldn’t mind see go missing)
- Turtles
- Emails
- Popcorn thriller

Frieda does it again.

Twists and turns and .... turtles.

You'll never look at your coworkers the same way.

Dawn is a bit strange. All her coworkers at Vixed agree. She's awkward in her dealings with others and there's her obsession with turtles! I suspect she would be identified as on the autism spectrum. When she disappears under suspicious circumstances, Natalie (who occupies the next cubicle) is suspected of murdering her. Readers will understand from the beginning that there's WAY more to the story.

I could not put this book down. In the same manner of her other books, McFadden has created unforgettable characters and reveals the story in bits and pieces with shocking twists and turns that keep readers turning pages. The story alternates points of view between Dawn and Natalie. This is a cross between "Single, White Female" and "Gone Girl". I loved it!!

With Frieda McFadden, you are guaranteed a fast paced easy read. Just so much fun each time. I love reading a Freida book if I feel myself slumping.

It’s nice to have a thriller that isn’t so dark and horror filled that you need the right head space. I always have room for Frieda.

Thank you for my e arc!
