I love a good unreliable narrator, and The Coworker brings us two! Popular and beautiful Natalie, a top salesperson, and quirky, plain, and turtle-obsessed Dawn (who is likely on the spectrum), the new hire accountant, share a cubicle wall and have nothing in common…or do they?! I found The Coworker to be another wildly entertaining and twisty (although not necessarily shocking twists) story. Think long cons, the lengths you would go to avenge a friend, and secrets - lots of secrets. Quickly digested and so fun to read!
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC!
I would like to start by saying that I liked and enjoyed this book. I had a great experience reading it and I would recommend this book to anyone interested in it.
I was invested and I believe that the author made a great job in building up the suspense, but the end wasn’t that much worth it.
It was so good but the end just couldn’t top it. I think it was a little flop and another end would’ve been better. I like it but it won’t stick with me.
Great atmosphere and awesome build up! Thank you for the ebook! I appreciate it and I’m glad I’ve read such a hyped author! 🫶🏻
McFadden does it again! She perfectly crafts detailed back stories, intriguing characters, and an unpredictable ending with multiple twists! By the end, you’ll probably hate ALL the characters because they are ALL such horrid people with dark secrets.
Simple fun read of who dunnit. Mean girls and high school in an office. No high lit for sure. Thanks NetGalley for the ARC
Freida McFadden is the best at creating twists and turns that I would never see coming and is always able to keep me on my toes and turning the pages until the book is finished. I loved the Coworker, I thought the plot was well developed and I just had to know what was happening. It's one of those books that you pick up and can't put down until it's over.
Thank you #netgalley and the author for sending me an arc in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own
I heard so many mixed reviews on this that it took a while to convince myself to read it, boy am I glad I did! I don't understand why people were so pressed about Dawn's character. Was she a little odd? Of course, but it was relevant to the story line. I finished this book in 2 days flat, even read it while out in the hunting shack! I thought I had guessed the twist early on but in typically Freida fashion, she proved me completely wrong. Love love loved it!
I really enjoyed this fast paced thriller. It centers around two main characters who couldn't be more different but are equally intriguing. I loved the back and forth POVs as well as the jumps throughout the timeline. This was really cleverly written and I loved how everything came together at the end. I felt justice was served in a weird way. I would love to see these two characters in another book together. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I thought I knew where this one was going but I definitely did not.
Freida McFadden weaves us through what can only be described as a very toxic work environment. Bullying doesn't always stop when we're kids.
Dawn is being bullied. She is being bullied by her beautiful coworker Natalie; who from her perspective is nothing but nice and support of Dawn.
That's until Dawn is missing and all the signs point to murder.
This was a great thriller we some good twists and turn in it. I enjoyed the ending. At times I thought I knew where this book was going but it would double back on me.
Found it a quick read.

**Two women. An office filled with secrets. One terrible crime that can't be taken back.**
The coworker follows 2 colleagues, both have their own views on how their work life has played out and how they see each other!
when I first started reading this I had absolutely no idea where this book was going and as usual, Freida Fashion was completely surprised when the twist played out, I didn't see it coming!
Although not my favourite of Freida's book it still was an enjoyable read!
I always think I have everything figured out but the twist always proves me wrong.
This wasn’t my favorite Freida read. It was slow for me and I just couldn’t get into fast enough like I did with some of her other books. It didn’t get exciting for me until like 90% in but I kept pushing through. I still enjoyed it but it’s not one I would recommend someone to read by Freida if they’ve haven’t read her books before.
I’m a huge fan of Freida McFadden and she did not disappoint with her new book The coworker. The queen of twists has done it again.
This was such a gripping and thought provoking read, seamlessly blending suspense with finespun character development. This was a great fast paced book with dual POV between Natalie and Dawn who are total opposites.
Love this book and would highly recommend.
This was a fast-paced thriller for sure. Two unreliable female MCs keep me guessing to the end. Freida has once again delivered an incredibly binge-worthy and fast-paced read in her latest book. True to her style, she skillfully lured me into a false sense of security with a seemingly predictable plot, only to blindside me with a major twist.
Like all of Freida’s books, The Coworker did not disappoint! Twists and turns all the way through. If you think you’ve figured it out, you’re wrong!
This book was so fun to read. The characters were relatable and I really thought I knew how this was going to end, and I was ok with it. Definitely didn't see it coming. Thanks Frieda for keeping me in the edge of my seat. I will be reading this again for sure!
Everytime Freida McFadden writes another book they just continue to get better and better. This book will have you on the edge of your seat. A lady that is new to the office wants to be just like Natalie Farrell. Dawn along with another guy in the office go to great lengths to set up Natalie as the murder suspect. In the end the whole tru5 comes out. A really great thriller
The twist and turns that appeared were completely not expected! I’ve began looking forward to my train rides to and from work because that’s when I would slip away to McFadden’s imagination. I’m going to be bummed out when I complete reading all her work!
Frieda McFadden did it again! Another twisty, un-put-downable read. There was not one twist that I saw coming and I loved being in the dark. I read a lot of thrillers, so it’s hard to find a twist that I’m not able to guess.
McFadden is definitely an auto buy author for me and I can’t wait to start on her backlist!
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Once again Freida keeps me on my toes. Just when I think I’ve got it figured out, BAM she has to throw in a twist … all the way up until the last page. Fantastic read, I didn’t want to put it down to adult, it kept me guessing he entire time. I’ve heard people complain about the obsession one character has with turtles, but I didn’t mind.
I was chosen to receive a advance readers copy of this book and I was so excited! Since reading “the inmate” I’ve been on a Freida binge!
Her new book is exceptional, fast paced, the plot and plot twist will make your head spin.
Natalie and Dawn work at a company called Vixed. Dawn is a interesting person, and has some quirks. Natalie is beautiful and top saleswomen in the company, she seems to have it all.
When one of them is framed for murder, tension rises and suspicions are raised.
Only was it murder?
Someone is dead.
Someone did it.
But who?
This book had me questioning motives of everyone.
If you love Freidas books you’ll love this one!
"Two women. An office filled with secrets. One terrible crime that can't be taken back."
This book was a twisty tale. At one point I thought that I figured out the direction the story was going - but then talked myself out of those thoughts because SURELY it couldn't be that much like another popular thriller, right? Wrong. This storyline felt too close to another, very popular thriller.
Unfortunately this one just wasn't for me. The similarities to the other book didn't allow me to connect with this story. I think that it's hard to freshen up or draw inspiration from a story that has already been told so well.
I do enjoy Freida McFadden's writing style and ability to keep you guessing throughout the story. I do plan to read more from this author and look forward to reading The Housemaid.
