Natalie and Dawn are extra, boy oh boy. Just when you think you know your coworkers, this book will remind you that you don’t. This was a thrilling work place read. I loved to hate both of the main characters. I finished this novel in a couple days, and couldn’t wait for the next scene to play out.

I know I am 50/50 with Freida's novels. Sadly, this was one that I was not as pleased with. I did need to know what happened, I read it quickly... but it was odd. I hated the characters. every. single. one. I also HATED the ending. Like I know the ending needs a twist but the way this ended was bizarre, unbelievable, and quite dumb.

Loved this book, as usual with Freida McFadden’s books, lots of great twist and turns. I was guessing throughout the book but I was not able to figure it out until the end. I always love Freida’s books. Always a good read.

Rating: 3/5

I do love Freida’s writing and while I definitely was interested, this book fell a little flat for me. Still written really fun and well though!

A thrilling book that keeps you turning the pages until the shocking ending. Full of twists and turns and shocks. Brilliant

Something about this book just seemed to be lacking… For the longest time, nothing seemed to be happening and by the time something did happen, I didn’t really care. The characters were annoying and I think the ending fell flat.

Triggers: bullying, suicide.

Is Natalie Farrell a good person?
Let’s see, she did the following:
Bullied a school classmate.
Bullied a coworker.
Slept with a married man.
Lied about product she was selling.
And possibly stole money from her company.
So, no, I wasn’t a fan.
But is she a murderer?
For a good part of the book, you may think so. However, with thrillers, I don’t think the obvious answer is always correct.

While I had my suspicions about what happened to Dawn Schaffer, I could never have predicted everything that happened with her. Things really go sideways about two thirds into this book, with some surprising revelations. Does it help or hurt Natalie? It was intriguing to read it all play out. And the end was not what you might expect from a thriller.

Overall, this was a real page turner and worth checking out if you are a fan of this genre.

This is the first book I have read by Freida McFaddden. I found the mention of turtles to be a bit overwhelming while reading. I also personally believe that it is an essential part of the book to truly emphasize the obsessive trait of Dawn (one of the characters). Freida does a great job of pulling you in from the first couple of pages. I personally finished this book within two days and thoroughly enjoyed it. There is always something new that we as readers are learning while progressing through the book. So there isn't really a great place to pause while reading since it feels like a cliffhanger. I did not see the twist coming at all! I was very shocked to learn the truth. I also enjoyed how everything is resolved to a sense at the end. I will definitely check out more Freida McFadden books in the near future.

Another quick and easy read/listen by Freida McFadden. I love how her books keep me guessing. While this wasn't my favorite story by the author I still enjoyed the audiobook and would recommend to McFadden fans. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Freida you have done it again! Tricked me into thinking I figured out what was going on then you hit me with a twist I was not expecting. Then they kept coming. Seriously great easy read that kept me on my toes.

Two women Dawn and Natalie are coworkers. Dawn is a little different; Natalie is the type that everyone must love. Dawn disappears, and we are left with another Freida McFadden work of art that will keep you guessing til the very end.

This book was packed with twists and turns. Characters with secrets, a work environment like many. Characters that everyone has meet once in their life. Freida McFadden did amazing with this one! 5 Turtle 🐢 Stars ⭐️ Thank you NetGalley

This book was so strange! I still cannot get over how odd Dawn Schiff and now every time I think about a turtle I’m going to link them to Dawn. I didn’t care for the ending and how everything tied up. I could not stand Natalie the entire time but Freida does a good job at making you hate her characters because he writing is so compelling. I did like the big twist and I didn’t see it coming, nothing new with FM. I love all FM books and would recommend any and all books from her. I am part of the Psychological Thriller Readers Facebook Group and we all love her work. She’s even in our group! Which is awesome.

This started off pretty good, then slowed down some in the middle. The ending was really good until it went off the rails in the "1 year later" chapter. All the stuff about the turtles was a lot. The only person in this book worth liking was the one having an affair. Who knew?

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my free copy in exchange for an honest review.

The Coworker is the newest thriller by Freida McFadden. This one involves office politics and the weird limbo of trying to become friends with your colleagues. Dawn is viewed by her coworkers as a strange individual with many quirks. Natalie is seen as the rising star of the company. One day Dawn fails to show up for work and she is never absent. Natalie receives a mysterious phone call that leads to her investigating Dawn's absence. Many secrets will be revealed. Read and enjoy!

Freida, you have done it again! The Coworker has so many twists and turns and I was truly not expecting the ending of this fast paced novel! The story is told in the past by the main character Dawn’s point of view and in the present by the other main character Natalie. The chapters jumping between the past and the present is essential to fully understand the plot of this novel. I highly recommend this thriller! Thank you NetGalley, Poisoned Pen Press, and Freida McFadden for the opportunity to read an advanced reader copy of The Coworker in exchange for my honest review!

I have read almost all the books of Freida McFadden and I am a huge fan of the author but believe me when I say this might be her best work yet.
The pace is perfect and the plot twist was the best! I though I had it figured out but turns out I was wrong! Truly a page turner!
I will be recommending this book to all my friends.
5 stars is well deserved!

Special thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for giving me the opportunity to have an advanced copy of the book!

Natalie and Dawn are coworkers at a nutrition supply company called Vixed. Dawn is a bit of an odd one, totally obsessed with turtles and always on time for work, but something is going on with her- she tries to talk to Natalie and their boss Seth. Then Dawn doesn’t show up for work. After Natalie finds a red turtle on her desk and receives a call for help from an anonymous woman she thinks Dawn may be in trouble. When Natalie goes to Dawns house she doesn’t find Dawn but something else unexpected. Fast paced murder mystery with short chapters and a dual timeline, one of which is past emails. Easy to read this twisty thriller. I gave it 3 stars., mostly because it was pretty predictable, and just Fell a little flat for me. Thank you NetGalley for the advance digital copy.

Freida never cease's to amaze me! Her writing style is so easy to read and her character development is amazing. For anyone that has had an office job at a corporation, you all know "The Co-worker" that is like Dawn in the book. We've all been annoyed with the Dawn of our office from time to time. I thought that I had this one all figured out, but just like with all Freida's books, it is never what you expect and she keeps you guessing. There is some repetitiveness in this book as well as a lot of talk of turtles that some might think was too much, but I do feel that it was necessary for the character development that is Dawn. The Co-worker is a "Keep You Guessing" thriller that will surprise you to the VERY end.

If I could only just say one thing about this book it would be “this author can tell the most riveting, creepy, twisted tales that keep me coming back for more!” Freida McFadden crafts the most unique thrillers that I have ever read. I have read all of her books and haven’t been disappointed once! She interjects humor into the story in a subtle way that gives the story even more dimension. In this book I wasn’t sure who to believe as the story alternated between Dawn and Natalie’s point of view. This book also involves the topic of bullying and what the drastic consequences are for the perpetrator and the victim. Also how revenge can blind the victim which makes them no better than the bully. The ending makes me believe we could see more of Natalie and Dawn and that would be “turtley”awesome!

I didn't love this wrong, I liked the premise of Dawn having Autism but I felt the way the story was written and her character portrayals, it was a polarizing depiction. Written with poor taste. I would not recommend this book .
