Wow, what a ride! I thought this was such an interesting story. Like all of the other McFadden books, this one grabbed me right from the start. It is the story of two coworkers. One day, one of them doesn't show up for work and the other starts to wonder what happened. Then she gets a mysterious phone call. What is going on???
What I love about her books is that they draw you in right away and you don't want to put them down until you are done. They are quick thrillers that always have me guessing. I love to see if I can figure out what really is going on before the author reveals what it is. In this case, I think I started to suspect some of what was going on but the author still blew me away with some of the details. I love that!
4 stars!!!
This was fine! I like Freida's work, but this one I found a little "meh." While it was a fast-paced thriller, it felt forgettable.
This is a quick read. Fasted paced with many twists. You won’t know what character to trust. Highly recommend! I’m a huge fan of all of Freida McFadden’s books. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC
I love McFadden- and I love turtles so best of all the worlds.
This was a slower Mcfadden read me but as always the twist, turns, what if and what did I just Read moments happen. Be patient and Don't give up.
With all that being said If I did not know the author I might have became a little more hesitant about finishing the book because of the slow start. However, I'm a fan and I knew something was going to happen.
Not disappointed at all.
I gave this book a 3 star because I enjoy the fast pace twists but I throughly enjoyed it!!

I’ve only read two books by Freida and I was obsessed with them….I saw this one on NetGalley and I automatically had to request to review it!
I loved loved loved this book so so much I tried to guess what happened or who actually did it but I never saw anything coming….yea the Turtle obsession was an amazing addition to the story which you will totally understand once you read the story….but this was a very thrilling and entertaining read and I can’t wait to read much more of this author.
i received this ebook from Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion and review. First, the turtles were way too much. It got to the point where I was getting annoyed by the obsession. They were an unimportant part of the plot and the endless mention of them got old quick. The storyline itself was interesting and I enjoyed finding out new details as the story went on.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for this Advanced Readers Copy of The Coworker by Freida McFadden!
The Coworker Freida McFadden
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨/5
Freida has definitely made it to my top 3 thriller authors list and an auto buy author for sure! Her writing is so easy to read and almost impossible to put down, every time.
I really thought I had this story figured out and my guess for the ending would be right, but I was totally blindsided by the twist!
It loses half a star because I found it could be repetitive at times, especially with the excess mention of turtles - but this hardly takes away from the book overall.
The Coworker is face pace the whole way through and kept me captivated from beginning to end. This is a must read for fans of psychological thrillers!
𝐒𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐬𝐢𝐬 : Two women. An office filled with secrets. One terrible crime that can't be taken back Dawn Schiff is strange. At least, everyone thinks so at Vixed, the nutritional supplement company where Dawn works as an accountant. She never says the right thing. She has no friends. And she is always at her desk at precisely 8:45 a.m. So when Dawn doesn't show up to the office one morning, her coworker Natalie Farrell— beautiful, popular, top sales rep five years running —is surprised. Then she receives an unsettling, anonymous phone call that changes everything... It turns out Dawn wasn't just an awkward outsider—she was being targeted by someone close. And now Natalie is irrevocably tied to Dawn as she finds herself caught in a twisted game of cat and mouse that leaves her wondering: who's the real victim?< But one thing is incredibly clear: somebody hated Dawn Schiff.
Enough to kill.

Thank you to Netgalley, the author, and Poisoned Pen Press for the gifted e-book! ❤️ #gifted. My review is comprised of my honest thoughts.
Read this book if you like: Twists, whodunit, turtles, unreliable characters
This was interesting, and I liked most of the twists. I mostly just had an issue with it dragging a lot for me. I see most people think it's fast-paced, so this may be a me issue. The characters were well developed and unreliable, which I liked. I do recommend it.
This book was absolutely incredible! Freida never disappoints! The twists kept me guessing and I still have no idea which "team" I am on to be honest. It took me a while to write this review because I had to gather all of my thoughts.
Blurb:
When her strange coworker goes missing, Natalie is determined to figure out where she is and what has happened. She refuses to give up!
Such a great read I finished it in a day, and would recommend it to everyone.
I also may have a new found love for turtles haha.
Thank you @netgalley for the copy of The Coworker by Frieda McFadden.
If you like her other books, you will like this one. As always, it is fast paced and you can't put it down.
Natalie is a top sales person at Vixed, a wellness company. When her coworker Dawn doesn't show up, she feels something is wrong. As she tries to find out what happened to Dawn, Natalie's past comes to haunt her and it is possible she may not be innocent in Dawn's disappearance.
4/5🐢
I’m giving this one turtles instead of stars today. IYKYK lmao I was lucky to get this arc from @netgalley
Anyways I love Freida and I have never been able to figure out her books, however I had one part of her twist figured out pretty quickly. There are a lot of turtles and it almost turned me away, but I do feel like it was needed with Dawn’s personality and it was done well. There’s always a character I despise and I felt like there was some good character development and no plot holes. It was a page turner. I just love how easy her books are to read because they are always page turners. Freida is what got me back into reading.
Blurred Lines..
Office politics turn deadly in this twisting and turning tension fuelled suspense. When a co-worker fails to appear at the workplace, so begins a terrifying and bizarre series of events where lines between reality and imagination, as well as past and present, begin to blur. A propulsive plot is populated with a credible and well drawn, albeit unlikeable, cast laced with twists aplenty providing an immersive and tense read.
Awesome book , kept me intrigued the whole time. You can't go wrong with a Freida Mcfadden book!! Loved the characters and the story , read it in 2 days and can't wait for her next book release
The Coworker is a page-turning read about mean girls at work; the snakes, the bitches, the bullies, the narcissists who plot and scheme to ruin people. But what happens when two high school rivals end up working for the same company? The Coworker will be a movie, no doubt. It is also a great selection for discussion groups. Good escape reading about a popular topic,
Throughout the novel we follow Natalie and Dawn, two extremely unreliable main characters, as we battle to decide who's side of the story we want to believe: the hot-shot sales woman or her new, strange co-worker?
I sadly have to admit, this hasn't been my favourite Freida McFadden book. Not to say I didn't like it, 3 stars is still a great rating, The Coworker just didn't have the same shock factor as the Housemaid or The Inmate!
I found myself not caring for Dawns emails and ended up skimming through the longer ones. However, I was shocked both times at the double plot twist and found myself gasping out loud "I knew it!" at the end, so if you are a fan of Freida McFadden I definitely recommend reading The Coworker.
It is rare for a book to grip me like this one did. Having read The Housemaid, I was expecting fiendish twists in the tale, I suspected every character and I wasn’t disappointed. This for me was a book I had trouble putting down. The setting for a lot of the action is an office of a nutritional supplements company in Boston. Dawn the accountant, hasn’t turned up for work, which is most unusual and her coworker in the adjacent cubicle, Natalie, the golden girl of sales is worried down to the tips of her red Louboutins.
Dawn Schiff is socially awkward, she has OCD and is probably on the autism spectrum, though this isn’t spelled out explicitly. Natalie has the best sales record in the company, she is having an affair with her married boss and she is something of a bully. The narration is mainly from two POVs Natalie’s and Dawn’s, Dawn’s POV is seen mainly through a series of messages to a mysterious Mia. Both narrators are unreliable, Natalie doesn’t see her bullying and character faults for what they are.
The action is fast paced, it is a quick immersive read, I read the whole book in less than a day, which is unusual for me.
Thanks to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest thoughts.
My rating 5 out of 5
Good book with a fantastic twist, not my favourite Freida book but I think that was due to all the turtle talk (however it was of-course relevant to the character) still a great read as always from one of my favourite authors!
Of all the Frieda books I’ve read, this one was my least favorite. It was enjoyable but I felt like there was waaaay to much emphasis on Dawn’s special interest, and while the narrators were unreliable, I didn’t feel like it was very well done. There was a twist, yes, but I called it within the first 50 pages, which was disappointing after reading The Inmate which absolutely knocked my socks off. This would be a good introduction to Frieda’s books but I wouldn’t go in expecting something that will blow your mind with this one. Just meh, in my opinion.
This was not my favorite Freida book. It was interesting and suspenseful enough that it kept me reading in true Freida fashion, but the story line fell flat for me and the twist wasn’t all that shocking. It was too Gone Girl.
