You can always count on Freida to give you a great little thriller. I enjoyed this one a lot. Easy to get through with some great twists
Did i like…anybody? Not exactly. They were all horrible people BUT it made for a really confusing and difficult to predict ride. I had the bones of the plot, I pretty much figured out who would be capable of doing it / what the plot twist was going to be BUT the motivation behind it all took me by surprise and had me not stopping til I got to the very end. Pretty much all of part 2 I read in one sitting and will make me very confident to rec this to anyone looking for a good mystery. Unreliable main characters is such a trope I love and I’ve accidentally stumbled upon two books in the past month that threw me off because of it so solid 4 stars for McFadden here.
Just like all other Freida books, a nice easy read with perfect sized chapters. Another good twist, but it felt more predictable this time.
✨Book Review✨
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨/4.5 stars
This was a fast-paced thriller that was classic Freida. If you are a fan of her other books, you will love this one. Natalie and Dawn are coworkers at a nutritional supplement company. Natalie knows two things about Dawn: she loves turtles and she adheres to a very strict schedule. Dawn never strays from this schedule until one day, she fails to show up for work…
Although I guessed early on the direction things were going, Freida threw in several unexpected twists and turns that made this an exciting page-turner. Just when I thought Freida was done with the surprises, she throws in a jaw-dropper at the end.
Freida always delivers and you will not be disappointed with her newest psychological thriller. If you are new to her books, grab a copy of The Coworker, and you will quickly become a McFan!
Thank you Netgalley and Poisoned Pen Press for sending this book in exchange for my honest review.
This book has good pacing and kept me guessing. The plot is far fetched, but because it was well written I didn't really mind. Interesting characters, though I didn't like them all. Not sure what to think about the ending, though it does work.
I received a free copy from NetGalley in return for a honest review.
The Coworker is a real page turner. If are new to Freida McFaddens books, you will love this one. It has twists and turns, some that I even figured out! It also had twists and turns that really surprised me. The surprise twists make the ones I guess so much more fun. I feel so smart for figuring it out.
I’m giving this 4 stars because I didn’t LOVE the book. I did get a little bored here and there. It’s possible I know McFadden has better books and I’m just holding her to too high of a standard. Not *every* book can be THE BEST BOOK EVER WRITTEN but it can still be a good book. And that’s where I think we are. This is a good book. I would absolutely recommend it to friends and other readers.
The Coworker by Freida McFadden had captured all of my attention over the last two nights. Between two unreliable FMCs, the fast pace, and some twists and turns, this book was a great first impression of McFadden's books for me! This book really kept me on my toes, and had me guessing what would happen next. This book is one I highly recommend, especially if you want a "edge of your seat", engaging read!
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing an advance copy in exchange for honest feedback. Freida McFadden does it again, another wild ride of a thriller.
Another 5 star Freida McFadden read! I love all the twists and turns and her books flow so beautifully. The coworker follows Natalie, a pretty and popular woman in an office that sells vitamins. Enter Dawn, a quiet, turtle-obsessed loner desperate to fit in. After being made fun of and bullied in the office, Dawn goes missing and the thrill begins. I love thrillers where I think I've got it figured out and then I'm shocked as all the twists are uncovered. Highly recommend every Freida McFadden i have read and this one is no different. Fun and excellent read!
Not one of the Freida McFadden's book that I love. I was able to guess that Caleb was somehow involve and the female leads are so coo coos. It was one of those books made by the author with no likeable character. The author even says so that it took her "50 years in the making" even though she wasn't 50 yet lol. I'll give these a three for the effort she put in despite the storyline.
This was actually my favorite McFadden I’ve read so far. Great plot that takes place in the workplace among 2 possibly unreliable narrators who happen to be coworkers and cubicle neighbors. When one disappears mysteriously the other is sucked into finding out what happened to her.
Dawn Schiff is strange. At least, everyone thinks so at Vixed, the nutritional supplement company where Dawn works as an accountant. She never says the right thing. She has no friends. And she is always at her desk at precisely 8:45 a.m. So when Dawn doesn't show up to the office one morning, her coworker Natalie Farrell—beautiful, popular, top sales rep five years running—is surprised. Then she receives an unsettling, anonymous phone call that changes everything
As usual with all of Freida McFadden's books, this was an enjoyable few hours spent reading this book. Well you can't always choose your friends and sometimes if you get the feeling that the friendship is not being reciprocated, you should move on to someone else. But for Dawn with autism she cannot understand why Natalie is showing no signs of wishing to develop their relationship and is trying her hardest to make her like her. I really liked Dawn's character , it was refreshing and unpredictable. Fast paced and also kept me guessing, I thought I knew where this was going but turns out I didn't. As with all Frida's books, I do recommend them, they are fun reads and take you away from the daily grind and keep you engaged throughout.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of the book, all opinions are my own.

Freida McFadden is a #1 Amazon, USA TODAY, and Publisher's Weekly bestselling author and practicing physician specializing in brain injury who has penned multiple bestselling psychological thrillers and medical humor novels. Freida’s work has been selected as one of Amazon Editors’ best books of the year, and she has been a Goodreads Choice Award nominee. Her novels have been translated into over 30 languages. Freida lives with her family and black cat in a centuries-old three-story home overlooking the ocean, with staircases that creak and moan with each step, and nobody could hear you if you scream. Unless you scream really loudly, maybe.
“After all, there’s nothing that binds two people like a shared secret.”
Dawn likes turtles. And things to be in order. She knows she isn’t “normal,” but she accepts that. She is smart and pays attention to the details. Natalie has always been beautiful. And she has always been a mean girl who hid behind a nice girl facade. No one expected these opposites to be entangled.
HOLY. BUCKETS. This book was addicting. The build-up was on a steep and steady incline- until you plummeted toward the ground at breakneck speed.
Dawn was not neurotypical. I found her representation of mental illness respectful and well done. The hyper fixation and obsessive-compulsive tendencies all helped create the chaos inside of this character.
Natalie was a reasonably typical queen bee mean girl. She gave off strong Regina George vibes- beautiful, intelligent, blond hair, blue eyes, charming. She was a chameleon, presenting whatever she needed to manipulate whoever she wanted to.
Surprisingly, I guessed one of the twists! I could figure out one element, but boy, oh boy, did the other twists make my jaw drop. I love how Frieda can write a storyline that is so engaging, fast-paced, and shockingly twisted that your head spins.
The way this story was told was so fantastic. The brilliance was spot on, and I am ready for my next Frieda book!
This is just what I needed! Exactly the fun, twisty adventure that I expect from Freida McFadden. Captivating from the beginning and keeps you turning the page. I loved to hate Dawn and Natalie and found Dawn's obsession with turtles comical lol. Freida McFadden is definitely an automatic add to tbr author! Thank you Netgalley for my opportunity to receive an ARC of this great read.
At first I thought it was predictable. I guessed one outcome very early on. I thought I was going to be disappointed but then the twists kept coming!
What a twisty ride! I’m a huge Freida fan so as soon as I heard she had a new book o knew I had to read The Coworker. Loved that the twists started dropping early and then continued throughout as opposed to just a last page twist like some thrillers.
I absolutely and 1000% percent loved this book. Just when I thought I knew what was going on and I thought I knew who did everything, Freida came out of nowhere and blew me away again! I will forever recommend Freida McFadden's books to anyone and everyone!
4.5 stars! Thriller lovers, this one’s a must. It’s unputdownable with plenty of twists! I also learned in the “about the author” that beyond Freida being a bestselling author, she’s a practicing physician specializing in brain injury - how cool is that?! Huge thanks to Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review - this book’s out now!
Very fast paced mystery with several twists. I liked the alternating points of view and the inclusion of emails and texts
Natalie Farrell is the top salesperson at the offices of Vixed, the nutritional supplement company. Dawn Schiff is the turtle obsessed accountant who works in the cubicle next to Natalie. Two different women, an office filled with secrets and lies and perhaps a murderer. Although the characters were generally unlovable, it was fun trying to figure out this enjoyable cat-and-mouse game set in a toxic work environment. It definitely kept me guessing till the very end!
