Freida did it again! I had no idea where this story was going to go, and was wrong with all of my assumptions. I love the authors ability to completely captivate you and draw you in, think that you know exactly what's going to happen and then blow your mind when you realize what's been happening all along. A fantastic read!
I loved this one! McFadden is my new favorite writer. She writes amazingly creepy and the characters are complex but absolutely unlikable. The story was unpredictable and unputdownable. Can’t wait until her next book.
Frieda does it again! I devour any book written by Frieda McFadden and this book did not disappoint. I was back and forth trying to figure out if I liked Natalie and whether or not I should feel sorry for Dawn. Boy was I taken for a ride. I will definitely be recommending this book to friends.
There is always a surprise at the ending. Freida McFadden does it again with The Coworker. This book is on par with her other book the Handmaiden. She has a formula: always a beautiful blonde vs a mousy brunette. In this book, Natalie Farrell is the top seller for Vixed, a company that sells natural supplements. She is smart and earnest and one day she notices her coworker Dawn missing. This book is filled with mystery and vengeance. It is a fast read that I definitely recommend
This book was such an easy read. I finished it in less than 24 hours. Couldn't put it down. I love all of Frieda's books but this one is definitely top 3 material. It is however one of the only books of hers that I was able to somewhat predict a portion of the twist. But in true McFaddenFashion, I didn't guess it all. And the prologue always gets me. I love that it is interesting from the start and the snowball of suspense grows till the very end.
10/10 recommend. I will say, there needs to be a TW for suicide if possible just because it sneaks up on you and if you have dealt with that in any form or fashion it can really be a struggle. But other than that, it's a fantastic book and now I'm completely out of Frieda books until February!
First off, thank you to Netgalley for this opportunity to read this arc for a review.
I’m officially a Freida fan! That was a book that I didn’t see what the end was whatsoever. And I tell you…my mouth dropped when the twists came! This won’t be my last read by this author.
The Coworker
This author is one of my favorite thriller authors. I love her books because it has mystery but her ending isn’t creepy like other thriller books. It was the same with this book. There were enough twists to keep me focused. The pace was fast. I finished it in one seating!! This book was a lot of fun. The ending made me laugh (the definition of the coworkers 🤣). The characters were also very interesting.
Thank you Netfalley and Poisoned Pen Press for ARC!
This is a cute story that you’ll fly through if only to confirm that it ends just like you thought it would. It’s told mainly from the perspective of Natalie, an attractive, shallow salesperson who’s dating one man at her company and sleeping with another - her boss. So yes, great person. It’s also told through Natalie’s co-worker Dawn’s emails to her friend, Mia. These communications paint a very different picture as to the interactions between Natalie and Dawn.
Natalie arrives at work one day and finds Dawn nowhere to be found – a rarity, as Dawn lives her life in a very particular way and keeps to a schedule you could set your watch by. No one else seems concerned that Dawn hasn’t shown up and is unreachable by phone. And what was that matter of great importance that she emailed Natalie about? These questions are just the beginning.
The most surprising aspect of the book to me is that it wasn’t surprising. There were only a few ways it could possibly go, and I kept thinking that maybe something would occur and completely blindside me, but it didn’t happen. Which is fine, not every story needs to be full of twists and turns, but this one was just easy to see coming. But it’s a quick read, and you don’t have to think too hard and sometimes that’s just what you need!

Well Freida McFadden has done it again for me! Truly her books are ones I just can not put down!! This one was exactly that! I continuously kept second guessing who was the murder or if dawn was even dead. At some points it felt like you be looking at everyone and all of sudden another twists comes and you’re wayyyy off! I can not stop thinking about this one since I finished last night!
An office filled with many secrets and workers with even more! Dawn is a very strange person and everyone sees it and with one crime that can’t be taken back it tears her apart. Dawn does not have the best people skills and is wildly obsessed with turtles. When trying to make friends with her coworkers she feels as if they are just bullying her. One day Dawn goes missing and her coworker Natalie notices right away. She doesn’t like the way it makes her feel because Dawn sticks to such a strict schedule. When Natalie decides to look for herself everything slowly falls apart. What happened to make enough hate for someone to kill?

I was so excited to receive an arc of a Freida McFadden book and I’m a huge fan! With that said, in my own personal opinion, this book was a miss for me. To me, Dawn was portrayed as a woman with autism and all her nuances were interpreted in such a negative way. Her high school experience was rough but the continuing her amount of self loathing and hatred for more than a decade later, was a little ridiculous. To me she’s the villain in her own story and is just as bad, if not worse, than Natalie. I struggled to get through every chapter that was from Dawn’s POV and her obsession with turtles. I love turtles but I was annoyed just reading about her obsession. Natalie was just annoying overall. The ending was infuriating and non-climatic. Overall, this book wasn’t for me because of the main characters, Dawn, Natalie, and Caleb. But I am looking forward to her next book, The Teacher in February.
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.
Once again, Freida McFadden has written a masterpiece! McFadden's books never disappoint. I've always enjoyed a book with an unreliable narrator and this one is no exception. This is a fast pace book that will suck you in from the first page and you won't be able to stop until you're done. Grab this book as soon as you can. You won't regret it!! 5/5 Stars
Thank you NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Freida never ceases to blow my mind with her stories! I loved all the character development and the glimpses into the past really helped to connect the dots! There were moments in the book that I felt bad for both the main female characters and really sympathized with what they’ve gone through. This story definitely had lots of twists and an ending you won’t see coming! If you like psychological thrillers with unreliable narrators, this is the book for you!
Natalie and Dawn work together at Vixed, a vitamin and supplement sales company. These women couldn't be more different but they both share one big secret.
"The Coworker" by Freida McFadden is a suspense-filled ride! I'm still processing this one, I think. My theory turned out to be somewhat true but the ending was not what I envisioned (without giving anything away!) Freida McFadden has a certain set up to her books, I've noticed. Not that this is a bad thing but becomes a little predictable.
I thought the first half of this book was a little slow. But around 60%, things picked up and they did not stop! All in all, I'd recommend this one but proceed with caution. If you've read one of hers, you can follow the breadcrumbs. It's up to you if that's what you like.
Big thanks to Poisoned Pen Press for this ARC! "The Coworker" was published yesterday so pick it up now!

The Coworker is a fast-paced thriller with some interesting characters and an even more interesting storyline! Dawn Schiff, is a strange accountant working for Vixed. Natalie is everything she's not, beautiful, friendly, and the top sales rep. One day, Dawn doesn't show up for work, and Natalie is worried about her. What happened to Dawn - will Natalie ever find out?
I don't want to say too much in the synopsis so I don't reveal anything!
What I liked: This was fast-paced, and a very easy read. The storyline moved along at a great pace and kept you interested. I liked the quasi dual-timeline and perspective shifts. The book was told in two parts - buckle up when you get to part two!
What I didn't like: I felt like I saw some of the plot points coming. Maybe I've read too many thrillers recently and I'm overly suspicious!
If you are a fan of this author or thrillers in general, I think you'll enjoy this one!
They say, ' Don't judge a book by its cover..'
When Dawn Schiff wasn't in her office cubicle at 8:45am sharp, Natalie Farrell knew something was off. Sure, Dawn is strange ~ quirky, doesn't have friends, not oriented with proper social cues ~ but being late is not something Dawn is known for. Natalie's suspicions have been made worse when she answered Dawn's office phone and a seemingly troubled Dawn says 'Help me' before the line went cold. Soon, Natalie will find herself in the middle of a tangled mess that may have started on that fateful day back when she was 17 years old...
...and yes, my friends. Freida does it again! I have very high expectations of this book because Freida doesn't fail to deliver ~ or is it more accurate to say, doesnt fail to mess up with my brain? 😅
I always take reading Freida's book as a challenge ~ checking to see if I finally figured out what's going on but every single time I come close, yet another curveball is thrown and almost always right at the very end! I even dread reading the epilogue because I am pretty sure much of the final bits of revelation will be there..and as always, I find myself ending this book the way I ended every single one of Freida's work ~ jaws dropped in a perpetually hanging position, wondering what I have just read.
Thank you for keeping me on the edge of my seat from start to finish, I enjoyed the ride. Next time, I'll be more wary of my coworkers 😉😉.
Freida has done it again! Never seen the ending coming! Who likes turtles that MUCH! Should have known she was off her rocker.
This hands down was a I can’t put down, excitedly turning the page to see what was coming next!
Mia was dead all along!?!? Like wait what! Caleb is her brother. I tried so hard to figure out the twist, just to fail again 😂
Loved this book! I loved the twists and kept me interested that I didn't want to stop reading! Frieda McFadden never disappoints! I loved every bit of this book ,and can't wait for her next!
The Coworker by Freida started off well. The main character Natalie works for a supplement company and is a top salesperson. There are a myriad of things going on with her work, a weird "coworker" with a fixation on turtles, and more. Then a murder happens, or maybe not. Overall this is a pretty interesting book, but I found the back and forth a little much for me. The fixation with turtles was over the top. Really no likeable characters. Not a good read for me.
This book was INTENS and kept me guessing right until the end. The first half is a bit slow and it took me some time to get into but after that first part I was completely hooked and binge-read until the end in one sitting. This story really was a roller coaster with lots of twists and reveals. I was able to guess some plot points but that didn’t influence my enjoyment too much. Freida’s storytelling ability is amazing and kept me engaged with the story throughout the whole book. The ending however disappointed me a bit, as I found the characters decisions a bit unrealistic. This was my first read of Freida McFadden and it definitely made me excited to read more of their work!
I've read most all of Freida McFadden's works and once again, she created a masterpiece! It started out strong and I couldn't put it down until I finished (who needs to clean anyways).
The workplace is toxic and there are secrets that are revealed. Everyone thinks accountant Dawn is strange, with no friends and her obsessive turtle collection. As I read about her, I thought of
some of the people I know who have autism and I couldn't help but wonder if Dawn did.
Natalie is top of sales in the office and when Dawn didn't show up for work one morning Natalie got a phone call that she couldn't ignore.
Natalie takes it upon herself to investigate and finds what appears to be a crime scene. When Natalie is arrested for murder, things really get interesting!
If you like twists and turns and a fast paced book with strong characters, you'll enjoy Co-Workers!
Thank you to #Netgalley for the e-book edition of this book!
