As aways with a Freida book, I may guess one or two things right but there’s always a twist or two I don’t see coming. Thank you Freida for another thriller that wasn’t boring and not at all predictable with an interesting plot. I read this one is one day. Thank you to the publishers for this advanced copy in exchange of an honest review.
The Coworker had me hooked from the first page! The story starts at an health supplement office when a coworker doesn’t show up for work. But this isn’t just any coworker of Natalie’s, this is Dawn. The unique, routine-oriented accountant with a burning passion for turtles. Things spiral out of control and had me second guessing my own theories as I read! I also loved the inclusion of the emails throughout the book. Every message had me wondering how a grown adult could act the way Natalie did. I was truly convinced that I had the ending figured out but I was so wrong! I flew through part two because I was anxious to know what was going to happen. I am a big fan of Freida McFadden and this novel is a big example of why!
Frieda is back and she has done it again! I couldn’t put this down!
The coworker is a fast paced, page turning must read! You read from both main characters point of view and you get to see how screwed up they both are. Dawn appears to be a shy socially awkward coworker of the much loved and beautiful Natalie. But are these women truly as they appear? Dawn doesn’t show up for work one morning which is very out of character for her and Natalie decides to stop by her house to see if she is ok. The back door is unlocked and there is a lot of blood found in the house, but is Natalie to blame for Dawns disappearance? What happened and why are the cops trying to blame her? As you read along secrets are revealed and twists are thrown at you to keep you hooked until the end!
Thank you NetGalley, the publisher and the incredible author for my ARC!
Good ole Freida! As always very entertaining & silly WITH A TWIST! The Coworker was not my fav of her books and didn’t really do it for me. (and I have read them all!) Even the twist was a little ho hum, didn’t see it coming but it wasn’t shocking. Decent ending all wrapped up in a perfect bow. Of course that left me with questions… but it’s just a silly book for entertainment purposes. I am ready for the next book!!
Seriously tho, if Natalie was a real person I would say “GET A F*CKING LAWYER!” 4 times she asked herself if she should hire a lawyer. YES, immediately YES.
I never want to hear about turtles again. End of discussion.
PS. Freida, I splurged for a Kindle, automatic page turner and stand for the release of this book and then got early access!
I am so thankful to have been chosen to get to read this book before it came out. Freida is my absolute favorite author. I enjoyed this book so much as a mom that has had a child that has gone through bullying this book definitely brought out my deepest fears as a parent. I am glad my child was removed from that school and is the happiest he has ever been. This book was so great I was back and forth on who to believe and was unsure who to like and root for! As always I had no idea how it would end! This book was perfect just like all her other ones I have read. I can’t wait for her next book! I know it will be just as amazing!
This new Freida McFadden book is fast-paced and captivating. I have read a couple of books from her now and have yet to predict what will happen next. The Coworker is an office drama filled book with a murder mystery spin to it. It kept me guessing and at the edge of my seat until the very end. The contradicting stories from different POV’s had me stressing about who to trust and who to believe. I thoroughly enjoy Freida’s style of writing that always keeps myself, the reader, entertained and engaged. After this book I will never look at turtles the same.
Another great, fast paced thriller by Freida! I was able to finish this in 24 hours. Dawn and Natalie both seem unreliable and each of their versions seems to differ from the other. Who's lying and who's telling the truth? In true Freida fashion, I thought I had this all figured out, when I really didn't. The twist/ending wasn't as shocking as some of her previous work, but don't let that keep you from reading The Coworker. Along with this thriller, you'll also learn some interesting facts about turtles!
Thank you to Netgalley, Poised Pen (Mandy Chahal), and Freida McFadden for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Publication date for The Coworker is August 29, 2023
This book was another Freida McFadden masterpiece! It was different (in a good way) from her other novels from a murder aspect. While there was A murder within the book, the murder didn't come to light until the very end of the book and it wasn't that of a main character. This book really makes one look at who they can trust, how they associate with others and how they treat others. This was such a classic Freida McFadden twist and I loved it! I'm ready for the next book!
Thank you to the publisher and Freida for the ARC! 4.25/5!
I read this book in less than 24 hours, and overall it was a great read. This book was about a workplace and centered around Natalie, a top sales agent at a supplement company who has been popular since she was young, and Dawn, the new accountant with a love for turtles. Dawn loves her routines, and immediately Natalie thinks something is wrong when Dawn falls out of her routine. I love being able to empathize with both characters to an extent, and the dynamic between Dawn and Natalie was one that was all too familiar.
This book will keep you guessing and on your toes, while there were a few twists I figured out, it was still a page turner and an enjoyable read. In true Freida fashion, the seemingly miniscule details mattered, and this book is for sure worth a read. Make sure to get a copy on release day!
Dawn Schiff is different. She is obsessed with turtles and her life revolves around a schedule. Dawn is never late to work, so her coworker Natalie Farrell is concerned when she doesn’t arrive on time. What in the world happened to Dawn? That’s all I can say without revealing too much.
Wow! Freida McFadden has produced another jaw-dropping, twisty, 5-star thriller! Just like any McFadden book, I couldn’t stop reading. You will want to clear your schedule for this one or you will lose sleep reading to find out what happens next. I highly recommend it to anyone that loves thrillers!
Thank you to Poisoned Pen Press and Netgalley for the arc
The characters sucked. However, the writing was addictive, and I didn't guess the plot twist.
Wow! I mean a big fat huge WOW! The Coworker is an incredible read. You find your self spinning with ideas about just who is against who and blimey when you find out it knocks you back that's for sure! A stunning stunning read that absolutely deserves every accolade it gets and I'm sure it'll be plenty.
The characters are portrayed brilliantly. You surge from OK they are good people to ohhhh no they are really really people! I devoured The Coworker like someone was going to take it off me, I had to jeep reading and it's worth every single emotion and hour that I gave it. 5 stars all the way. EPIC
Freida does it again! Another book where I didn’t see the ending until she delivered it on a silver platter. I’m amazed every time I read one of her books. She really knows how to bring characters out of their shells (pun intended 😝).
Thank you NetGalley, the publisher and Freida McFadden for providing me with an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!!
Another great book by Freida! This story of Natalie who is searching for her missing coworker Dawn was thrilling right from the start. The twists and turns made the book very hard to put down! Absolutely loved the ending, wasn’t predictable but also wasn’t too far fetched!
Thank you NetGalley for the chance to review this book!
I got the ARC from NetGalley and I literally screamed. I love Freida. This was another great thriller that kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat. 🐢🐢❤️highly recommended
Freida’s books are consistently bingeable. While this wasn’t my absolute favorite by her, I still enjoyed it. It’s almost like I saw where it was going, but I didn’t, but I did.. Dawn, as a neuro-divergent/ASD character, was very likeable, and McFadden did a nice job using her quirks to fuel the plot.
Thanks to Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
This is yet another winner for Frieda! When Dawn, a neurodivergent turtle loving accountant at Vixed vitamin company goes missing, everyone assumes her coworker, Natalie, is to blame. There's a lot of blood found at Dawn's apartment, along with Natalie's fingerprints. The evidence against Natalie continues to pile up but Natalie insists she is innocent. If Natalie is innocent, who is the real killer?
This book was short and fast paced and everything I have grown to love in a Freida McFadden novel. Enough twists to give you whiplash and an ending that will leave you wondering what happens next. Absolutely recommend!
Another super entertaining, fast paced thriller by the thriller queen!
I loved this book just as much as I like all of Frieda’s books. So much so that I read it in less than a day 🫣 I’m always torn whether I should just totally devour her books and make them last or read it super fast because I NEED to know what happens! I chose option 2 with this one 😂
This book had an addicting story line and multiple twists I didn’t see coming ( I always try to solve her books and I’m never right ) I really loved the story going between now and the past (the past being a series of emails, so fun!) I felt like i really got to know the characters better. A solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for this one!
A big thank you to netgalley, poisoned pen press and Frieda for allowing me the opportunity to read this book before it’s public release!
This was a fast paced thriller that makes you want to keep reading because you have to figure out what happens next!! The back and forth emails with Mia annoyed me in the beginning but once I realized the connection, it wasn’t so bad. Like Nat, I was tired of hearing about the turtles too lol. The twist at the end was unexpected but honestly not shocking by that point. I really enjoyed.
Will be posting a review to booktok on pub day.
I loved this book. I read it within one day. I finished it yesterday and I’m still thinking about it. This book has bullies, workplace drama, and a lady (who appears to be on the spectrum) obsessed with turtles. Full of suspense. Such a good read. Loved the audio as well.
