As per Freida Mcfadden's usual, I was captured right away! She has a knack for writing characters that you absolutely hate but still can't help but be thoroughly invested in their story.

This book definitely delivers a quick, fast paced thrill ride that will have you rolling your eyes at the main character (in the best way of course).

It may also make you want to go buy a ceramic turtle for your desk at work 😉.

Happy Reading guys. Freida did it again!

LI love Freida and her twists and turns and this book absolutely delivers the twists up to the last page! The writing style of this book was completely different, in my opinion, from the other Freida books I have read. It wasn’t my favorite writing style, but I still loved this book!

Dawn and Natalie will give you different perspectives of the same story. Each one having their own surprises and jaw dropping events that happen. This book was a fast read and an absolute page turner I would recommend to any thriller reader! Grab your copy in August 29th!

Thank you Freida McFadden, NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this ARC In exchange for an honest review!

When Natalie answers her coworkers phone one morning and hears the words “help me”, she immediately knows something is wrong. A body is discovered and she quickly becomes the main suspect. But was she responsible for the accountant’s murder? Or was it someone completely different?

Freida McFadden does it again! Part 2 delivers a jaw dropping twist-of-all-twists that had me completely open mouthed.
A well written psychological thriller, easy to read and utterly unputdownable.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for granting my wish for an advanced copy.

Frieda McFadden created so many twists and turns in this book - you will not be able to put it down. A fast read and page turner until the very last page and you’ll still want more!

Forget star ratings! THE COWORKER is a five-turtle read! If you know, you know. If you don’t, it will all make sense after you read THE COWORKER. And read it you must.

Dawn Schiff is strange. At least, everyone thinks so at Vixed, the company where Dawn works. When Dawn doesn't show up for work one morning, her coworker Natalie Farrell is surprised. Then Natalie receives an unsettling, anonymous phone call that changes everything.

I don’t want to give you more than the brief synopsis above for fear of spoiling the story. Just read it and be prepared for a wild and twisty story. A true thrill ride with many twists and turtles. Who knew turtles could be creepy? McFadden writes in such a way that I was completely engrossed, turning the pages as quickly as I could to find out how “this” related to “that.” You think you know what’s around the next corner, but McFadden throws curveball after curveball, right up to the very last page.

If psychological thrillers are your thing, and even if they aren’t, get a copy of THE COWORKER. You’ll be hooked immediately, and I predict McFadden will become a favorite author.

THE COWORKER releases on August 29, 2023 and will be available through Kindle Unlimited.

Thank you to Freida McFadden, Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

Thank you Freida McFadden, NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this ARC. 🤍

The Coworker tells the tale of Dawn and Natalie who are - you guessed it - coworkers. Dawn is very quirky and different. Natalie is your typical popular girl. When Dawn fails to show up for work, Natalie starts to worry something happened to her and down the rabbit hole she goes.

I personally did not like any of the characters. Which perhaps was done on purpose. When I say I was suspicious of every single character though, that’s no exaggeration! I know from other Freida books, no one is off limits and you must keep your eyes peeled for anything.

I have thoroughly enjoyed other books by Freida but in my opinion, this one was just lacking her usual jaw dropping, deer in the headlights, shocking plot twists. I still recommend this book, along w Frieda’s other books, if you’re into psychological thrillers, Freida is my most recommended author. You can’t go wrong! The Coworker pub date is 08/29/2023. 🎉

I dedicated a post on my bookstagram to this book, check it out here:

I was SO excited to get an advanced copy of Freida’s new book, especially since it’s set in the workplace!!! The twists were amazing in classic Freida style and it was fast paced and an easy read.

However it wasn’t Frieda’s best, this one felt quite vanilla compared to her other books and to other thrillers, the main character wasn’t likeable at all and honestly neither were the supporting characters.

And honestly if I saw one more turtle reference I was going to throw my kindle 🐢

Umfortunately after about 27% into this I lost interest because of the way the character who is written as neurodivergent is portrayed. I skimmed through the rest of the book and this viewpoint of the character never changed. It made me, as a neurodivergent myself, very uncomfortable to see all the streotypical characteristic able bodied people assign to us written in this book.

If Frieda McFadden writes it, I am going to read it. She skillfully weaves together stories that will grab your attention and leave you on the edge of seat eager to unravel the mysteries lurking within the pages. I had high expectations heading into "The Co-Worker" and they were definitely met!

From start to finish this story was a relentless rollercoaster of intrigue and suspense. Just when I thought I knew what was going on the story forced me to think again. My emotions were all over the place with this cast of characters.

I won't be giving away any piece of this plot, I recommend going in with just the knowledge from the blurb and be prepared for a gripping Mystery Thriller.

Thank you Frieda McFadden, Net Galley and Poisoned Pen Press for providing me with an ARC of this book!

Freida does it again! The Coworker had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Every time I thought I had it figured out another piece of the puzzle fell into place and I was back to square 1. The number of times I switched from team Dawn to team Natalie and back again is laughable. I was hooked from the beginning and the story was so fast paced I didn’t have time to put it down! A twisty thriller that will have you guessing until the very end. I will forever be a Freida McFadden fan, she is the queen of suspense!

I graciously received an ARC of this fantastic book and am endlessly grateful. There’s not much I can say without giving anything away, but as everyone knows, Freida is the queen of plot twists, and this book is no exception. I would rate this book a 4.5 out 5 stars, but I rounded it up to 5 stars. This book was almost perfect. I saw a small sliver of one big plot twist coming, which was a little disappointing but also did not take away from the litany of plot twists within the story. I was a little bored the first ~75 pages of the book, but it started REALLY picking up around page 100 or so. Freida did a great job making Natalie, the main female character, very likable in the beginning, then I despised her, then I liked her somewhat again and was even rooting for her a little bit, to then thinking oh my god! I very much love the writing style in this book and the first person point of view. The writing style made it feel like I was talking with a friend, which I love. Overall, I think this book was nearly perfect and a super fun read!

Frieda McFadden has done it again! No matter how many times I try to guess, the plot twist always leaves me speechless. She is a genius. If you’re looking for a fast paced, easy to read thriller you can never go wrong with one her books!

Natalie is great at her job. She can make a sale with even the hardest customer. The only person she doesn’t hit it off with is Dawn. Dawn is the next cubicle over and is just an odd duck, or shall I say odd turtle. Turtles cover her work area and she tries hard to get Natalie to like her.. maybe a little too hard.

The phone rings and Dawn isn’t there to take it but the number one sales girl is. Natalie picks up and that choice has changed her whole life. What she hears on the other end sends a series of events into motion. Dawn is no where to be found. Natalie decides to pop over to check in on Dawn but it isn’t at all what she expected to find.

As the hunt for Dawn continues and is now city wide, there aren’t any clues as to what’s happened. Until one day it all starts to fall into place. Natalie is faced with the consequences of her past as she determines how to survive to live a future.

In this twisty tale you’ll learn how much friendship means and how deep revenge can run.

I’ve read almost all of Frieda’s thrillers and have never been disappointed. The CoWorker grips you from the start and doesn’t let go even at the end. You’re left question “what just happened?”

I turtly loved this book!

The Coworker does it again! I’m completely addicted to Frieda McFadden’s stories!! I kept guessing and coming up with theories the whole way through the book and as usual, I was still surprised by the twist. Just when you think you’ve finished with the twists, here comes another! The Coworker is a fast paced easy read that will definitely keep your attention. You will be fully immersed into the world of the characters and their stories. You’ll question yourself and whose side you’re on until the very end! I can’t give this book enough praise! It’s definitely a MUST READ!

3.5 Rounded Up to 4!

Another edge of your seat story by the one and only. Although this wasn't my favorite story of hers, I was completely captivated straight from the beginning and continuously throughout the whole story. The story revolves around 2 coworkers with complete opposite personalities- and a secret tying them together that someone would literally die for.

As always - a twist I didn't see coming, and the ending wrapped up perfectly !

4.5⭐️

I’ve read 12 Freida McFadden books, and this is now in my top 3!! Like seriously, I could not put this down. Her writing really just sucks you in, and you become invested. This is definitely a must read for thriller lovers; as in move this to the top of your tbr. Even if you don’t typically read thrillers, you should still check this one out. Her writing is easy to follow and just flows so well.

This book really kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat! I think I enjoyed part 1 maybe slightly better than part 2, but I still really loved this book as a whole.

Thank you for this arc!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

You either love Freida or you don’t! I do. Her books are easy reads with twists that will keep you guessing until the end. In true Freida fashion, The Coworker did not disappoint. I could not wait to read this one. I was fortunate to receive an ARC (Advance Review/Reader Copy) of Freida’s latest book, The Coworker.
(Pre-order available now on Amazon. Release date is August 29th.)

This is a story of 2 coworkers and an office filled with secrets and murder!!

Dawn has a unique personality (maybe autistic) and is ALWAYS on time. She is also obsessed with turtles. Like really obsessed and really on time. This was so (too?) repetitive in the story. When Dawn doesn’t show up one day the guessing begins. Who is telling the truth? The twists just kept coming. I thought I was done the book at 80% but there was more. With that being said, this is the first time I was able to guess one of the many twists correctly! The characters in this book will have you feeling annoyed, confused and anxious in a good way.

Thank you @Netgalley and @poisonedpenpress for a chance to read this ARC as Freida McFadden is one of my favorite authors.

Oh, Freida you did it again!! Although I managed to guess part of the twist, I certainly did not have the whole picture. I loved the back and forth in time. Whenever it went back, I found myself reading faster to get back to current time to find out what was happening. And I loveeeeeee the Turles. Looking forward to the next Freida book as per always.
