Yet again, I have devoured another Freida McFadden book. This one wasn't my all-time favorite, but it was still a great read. This one seemed a little different than her normal writing, but still was fast-paced and compelling with enough twists that you never think you have it "figured out" for very long. A shocking ending, in true Freida form and a wonderfully-written thriller to add to your to-read list!

Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest thoughts.

Thank you to Freida McFadden and Poisoned Pen Press for the arc of the coworker. Freida is an amazing author that keeps you on your toes as a warning do not begin this book before you go to sleep you will not want to put it down. Dawn loves turtles a reference to Sheldon that Freida mentions. There are so many twist enjoy the book and try not to figure it out. The characters keeps you on your toes.

Frieda does it again! If you want an easy reader but with mind blowing moments this is the book for you. There are so many twists and turns that had my head spinning. I thought I had it figured out but then another plot twist came and I was back to square one. I have read all of Frieda’s books and I can say that this is in my top 3! Well done!

This was an amazing book. Like all of Freida’s books, I couldn’t put it down. Throughout the book you’re wondering if Natalie is this cold hearted monster or if there’s more to Dawn than meets the eye. (Of course with Freida, there’s always a secret third option) I’m proud to say, for the second time, I truly guessed one of the twists early on. However, there was still plenty of twists and turns that had me shocked. I’m thankful for my arc copy from poisoned pen press and NetGalley.

Another great book by Frieda! So happy to receive this ARC! She is the queen of the twisty reveals, and will look forward to whatever her next book will be.

I am a huge Freida fan. I've read all her books, and loved every moment. She never fails to surprise me.

So when I started this book, I got about 20% of the way in, when I messaged a fellow Freida Readah and was like, "Man. I don't know. This book isn't that good'.

Yeah, so I was wrong. I kept on, because not only did I have an obligation to the ARC, I just wanted to see it through and OH. MY. GOD. About 45% in I realized, I am SUPPOSED TO HATE THE MAIN CHARACTER.

Two women work in an office, one is very strange. And one is very popular. Perfect foils. So I'm just absolutely disgusted with the character and then there's a twist and I'm like this makes so much sense now.

In true Freida fashion, that ain't it, kid. She swaps POV to the other coworker., and it gets even crazier. I read this book faster than I've read anything in the past several months.

I am once again impressed by my favorite author, although I do have trouble reconciling the fact that the pleasant, funny woman we interact with on Facebook has a head filled with such dark, twisty thoughts!

Highly recommend this book, as all the others, and now I have a weird feeling about turtles.

I gave this book 3-stars. The reason is because I had a very good idea of what was going to happen in the end. There was one twist that got me but for the rest of it I was able to piece it together. I have read several of Freida's books and to me this one was my least favorite. However, I would still recommend for people to read this! It just wasn't my favorite personally.

Two women. An office filled with secrets. One terrible crime that can’t be taken back. The Coworker was a great read with a lot of interesting elements. Throughout the book, things are happening that make you feel like it’s straight forward and that you’ve figured the whole thing out but then something changes and you’re immediately off track, Then before you know it another twist comes and you’re back to not really knowing anything at all. It keeps you guessing the whole time. Something Freida McFadden is very good at. By the end of the book when it all comes together, it just blew my mind. Not what I expected. This book kept me hooked from page one. The characters in this book will have you feeling angry, confused, happy, frustrated, and relieved by the end. Never a dull moment. I would highly recommend this book to my friends. Thank you Netgalley for a chance to read this ARC as Freida McFadden is one of my favorite authors.

A binge-worthy read! This is the first book I've read by Freida McFadden, and it certainly won't be my last. I thought I had the twists figured out, but then I was surprised. I'm assuming Dawn is neurodivergent, but I found her to be well-crafted as a character. Just so many things I loved about this thriller! 4.5 stars!

Natalie and Dawn both work at vixed, they are co workers but
Could not be more different. Whilst Natalie is top seller at the company
Dawn is quiet albeit bright and when she does not turn up for work
Natalie knows something is wrong, Dawn is never late, ever.
Natalie takes it upon herself to find out what has happened to Dawn.
True to the author’s style all is not quite as it appears.
I could not put this book down and cannot praise the author enough.
Just brilliant

I just recently read the infamous "The Housemaid" by Freida McFadden so I was very excited to receive this ARC. Thank you, NetGalley! Similar to my last Freida McFadden read, I read this in a day and can easily see how and why people binge-read all her books in a matter of days! When her cubicle neighbor named Dawn doesn't show up to the office one morning, her co-worker Natalie starts to worry and wonders what happened to Dawn. As the story unfolds between these two women and we learn more about their backgrounds and history, there are many twists and turns and unexpected reveals. What happened to Dawn?!

Dawn and Natalie are polar opposites in every way: Natalie is portrayed as a very social, likeable, and successful woman and Dawn is the odd one in the office and very turtle obsessed. Their workplace is not something to be desired and I would not want a job there! Even though the majority of the characters are super unlikable, Freida does an incredible job at moving the story forward and keeping readers engaged and entertained. The Coworker releases on August 29th and I think many people will find this wildly entertaining! Thank you again, NetGalley!

Dawn the awkward, turtle loving new girl in accounting is trying to do whatever she can to win over the office and make friends, especially with the top sales girl, Natalie. Is Natalie the fun and sassy sales girl or a bully like she was in High School? This book has secret affairs, office drama, and a missing coworker in this vitamin company where the products are just as shady as the staff. The police make this an open and shut case but nothing is as it seems. As you read through the interoffice emails you think you have it all figured out but in typical Freida fashion you need to read to the last page to know the real Natalie and Dawn.

My first 5 star rating on a book this year! Had me guessing till the very very end! I thought I knew it all but then ending just added more! I live for books like this!!

I devoured this book within hours. This takes office drama, cliques, bullying and revenge to the next level with twists and turns I did not see coming again and again. Knowing Frieda is the Queen of plot twists, I really thought I had this one figured out only to find out I was so wrong. The range of emotions I felt for the characters was a rollercoaster ride. I immediately despised Dawn the annoying coworker who just doesn’t know when to stop. I later felt guilty for disliking Dawn upon realizing she is possibly autistic and sympathy for how she is treated, only to later feel angry and somewhat impressed with her level of crazy. Natalie is the top sales person in the office who is pretty, popular and the poster child for term “Mean Girls”. This is a wild ride that I thoroughly enjoyed!

Thank you Mandy at Poisoned Pen Press for an early copy of this ebook.

Like thousands of other readers, Mcfadden’s books are instant pick-ups for me. They are usually always read within 24 hours - usually sooner! - unless I have something keeping me busy. After reading Ward D and guessing the twist I was wondering how this one would be.

I want to preface this next bit by saying that guessing the twist, or part of the twist does not always ruin the book. The purpose of a book isn’t to shock you (unless you are reading extreme horror maybe, and that’s not usually a good shock) it’s to entertain! After reading hundreds of mysteries and thrillers if I rated a book poorly for every correct prediction I’d have only poor reviews. A book can still be great without a shocking twist. In the case of The Coworker I’d say there is one really big twist and then some pieces that tie in. I did guess the really big twist but it was a surprise to see how Freida made it all work.

I am a Freida fan, I’ve really enjoyed all her other books but this one didn’t seem quite up to her previous books. First I found the narratives between Dawn and Natalie very, very similar. It was hard to differentiate between who’s chapter I was in because of just how similar they were. I also found Natalie’s narration contradicting the personality she was portrayed as having but that may have been done on purpose based on the Dawn’s unreliability.

The biggest letdown for me was the ending. I haven’t seen other reviews that mention it so maybe it’s an unpopular opinion but I found the ending just so unsatisfying. I really wanted justice in this book. I can’t say more without spoilers and I don’t see the point of reviews that have to be hidden because of spoilers so I’ll leave it at that.

On the other side I did enjoy the dual timelines, I love dual timeline books, it’s like getting two stories for the price of one. Freida’s biggest critics complain about the simple or ‘YA’ style writing but this is what allows me to read her books in a couple hours flat. I appreciate the simple, not overly descriptive writing style so I don’t get bogged down with unimportant details and can focus on moving the story along. I did feel the mystery was intriguing and while I did know part of what was going on I wasn’t sure how Freida was going to make it work so I was still drawn in and entertained throughout the book.

All in all this wasn’t a huge miss but it wasn’t my favourite of her books. 3.5 stars but I’m leaving it at 3 since I have to pick 3 or 4.

Hmmm. Another 5 star Freida book, why am I surprised? Oh I'm not, I devoured this in less than 24 hours.

When Natalie noticed her coworker, Dawn, doesnt shoe up to work she gets worried. What she finds when she goes and checks on her, causes alarm and the police get involved. As the investigation goes on, Natalie becomes a person of interest to one of the detectives. While she has the support of her boyfriend, she becomes fixated on the investigation.

As things unfold, who can Natalie trust? Are people really who they say they are?

I couldn't put it down! I absolutely devoured this one in one sitting. In true Freida fashion this twisty pretzel kept me thirsty until the very end. I loved all of the turtle references. I would read an instructional manual if Freida wrote it.

Freida is one of my favorite authors. Her books are a quick read for me always. This book was great as usual but not my favorite of hers. The dynamics between people really show and you can definitely see this in real life. Do not hesitate to buy and read this book!!

Oh. My. Goodness.
This might be my new favorite Freida.
From start to finish, pure greatness.
I laughed and I gasped. Wouldn't change a single thing.
I was finally able to figure out part of the twist, but that didn't take away from it for me at all.

10/10.
Always a must read author for me, and I was just lucky enough to get an ARC.
Thank you to Poisoned Pen Press and Freida McFadden for letting me check this out early.
